Germany Inflation Rate Jumps to 7.9% in May

New IRS Data Reveals Florida Biggest Winner, New York Biggest Loser in Competition for People & Their Wealth

Authored by Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner via Wirepoints.org

Every year, states across the country compete with each other for people and their wealth as millions of Americans move between states. The stakes are large. A growing population for the winners means an increasing tax base, economic growth and investment. For the biggest losers, it means more difficulties in paying down debts, higher taxes and fewer investments for the future.

The nation’s most-recent winners of migration from other states are Florida and Idaho according to the latest migration data released by the IRS. Florida, the nation’s perennial winner, gained the most people and income overall in 2020, while Idaho gained the most of both on a percentage basis.

Czech Republic to Join Poland and Hungary in Central European Gold Rush

On 26 May in an interview with Czech publication Ekonom, the incoming governor of the Czech National Bank (CNB), Ales Michl, said that he plans to massively increase the central bank’s gold reserves from the current 11 tonnes to over 100 tonnes or more.

Italy: Salvini’s League Party Crashes in the Polls After Shift to the Left

What happened to Matteo Salvini and his party, the League? At the height of his form in 2019, Salvini was deputy prime minister and interior minister in Giuseppe Conte’s first government. His party won the elections to the European Parliament that year, doubling its result obtained in the previous year’s parliamentary elections.

Salvini was successfully implementing his closed-port policy as part of a general clamp-down on illegal immigration, resulting in a very large decrease in the number of arrivals by sea of new illegal immigrants and also a significant decrease in the number of drownings in the Mediterranean. He had become, together with Hungary’s Viktor Orban, the face of resistance to mass immigration that Brussels, Berlin, and Paris wished to impose on all Europeans.

Today, Salvini’s League is part of a government dominated by left-wing parties — the Democratic Party (PD) and the 5-Star Movement (M5S) — and led by a Eurocrat, Mario Draghi.

‘Reasonable Worst Case Scenario’: Millions of UK Homes Face Winter Blackouts as Russia Turns Gas Taps Off

A shortage of gas this winter could leave six million homes in the UK without power, a ‘reasonable worst case scenario’ foreseen by the UK government has predicted. To make up the shortfall, the government has asked coal power stations it ordered to close down to remain open.

Six million homes could see their power ‘rationed’ at peak times in blackouts lasting a month in the depth of winter if Russia — a major exporter of power to Europe, even now after its belligerence in Ukraine and seemingly hollow rhetoric from Brussels — continues to constrict or even end supply to more European countries, causing a serious energy shortage.

NATO membership is a free choice and the citizens of Finland overwhelmingly want to be part of the alliance. However, news coming from Finland, a historically neutral country, confirmed that joining the Atlantic bloc is not as free and spontaneous as it is made out to be.

Woke NGO to Blame for UK Universities ‘Decolonising’ History Courses — MPs

Universities in the UK are “decolonising” their curriculum despite government warnings in the hopes of winning awards from one woke NGO, MPs have claimed.

Despite multiple warnings from government officials, universities are marching on with their progressive crusades against white authors and problematic texts, with many continuing to “decolonise” their curriculum in a way that has been compared to censorship within the Soviet Union.

MPs are now blaming one woke NGO in particular, Advance HE, for the defiance from universities, with elected representatives claiming that many universities are taking the progressive axe to their teaching plans in the hopes of winning awards from the non-profit.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Advance HE offers awards to some Universities which sign up to its racial equality charter, a privilege which the publication says involves third-level institutions paying thousands of pounds a year to the organisation.

Latest News in the Russia-Ukraine War

Ukraine: Russian forces advanced into the center of Severodonetsk, one of the last Ukrainian strongholds in the eastern Donbas region, where Moscow is now concentrating its offensive.

The battle for Severodonetsk has in many ways resembled the fight for Mariupol, where Russian-backed forces worked to encircle the city while constant shelling reduced most buildings to rubble.

A French journalist was killed while reporting on evacuation efforts in Luhansk, the province’s governor said.

Strains to infrastructure will impair Ukraine’s ability to export its coming grain harvest, as the country tries to work around Russia’s Black Sea blockade, likely depriving the world of more than 8% of all cereal exports.
