USDA Raises Food Price Forecast to Highest Level in 42 Years, Third Wave of U.S. Food Inflation Will Dwarf Prior Price Increases

Have you ever seen egg prices at $1 per egg range, or $12/doz? Hold on a few months and perhaps you will. That is the context for the scale of food price increases the USDA is now starting to predict. The highest predicted change in food costs in well over 40 years, that’s the USDA warning in their revised May “Food Price Outlook”. [DATA HERE]

This month the USDA just re-re-revised the forward price outlook, and things are grim. It likely doesn’t come as a surprise to many CTH readers because we have been discussing the convergence of events since October of 2021, when we first were able to predict Wave-1 (Dec/Jan), and Wave-2 (March/Apr) inflation. However, the underlying data for Wave-3 is double the prior two phases.

TAFT, Okla. (AP) — Authorities said a 26-year-old man was in custody after one person was killed and seven people were injured in a shooting early Sunday at an outdoor festival in eastern Oklahoma, where witnesses described frantic people running for cover amid gunfire.

OSBI had earlier said two juveniles were injured in the shooting but said Sunday afternoon that only one juvenile was injured.

Witnesses said an argument preceded the gunfire just after midnight, the agency said…

Europol Predicts Latin American Style Street Violence in EU

Europe’s top police agency Europol is warning of an extreme increase in violence on European streets. Europol director Catherine De Bolle warned of a “level of violence on European streets that we have never seen before. Until now, we only knew this from Latin America.”

De Bolle described the decryption of the chat application EnchroChat, used by criminals, by investigators as an important blow against organised crime in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper in Germany. It has provided a whole new understanding of how organised crime threatens European security, the rule of law and democracy, she said.

De Bolle added: “Our conclusion is: we underestimated the danger.” Drug trafficking continues to play a major role for criminals, she said. Cartels have realised that it is profitable to produce certain drugs in Europe. “We discovered synthetic drugs from the Netherlands on the Brazilian market, for example, which surprised us a lot,” De Bolle said.

Italy Church Too Say Rebuffed by Zuppi

No response yet on request for independent commission of inquiry

(ANSA) — ROME, MAY 27 — Italian Catholic Church anti-paedophilia group Italy Church Too said Friday they had already been rebuffed by the new head of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI), Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, in their demand for an independent inquiry into predator priests along the lines of those that have taken place in other countries.

Cardinal Zuppi, a former street priest working with the poor who has also helped broker international peace deals with the Sant’Egidio Community, is seen as a breath of fresh air for the CEI.

He was only appointed by Pope Francis three days ago.

Despite this, Italy Church Too said “our letter asking for clear answers on the issue of abuse starting from the creation of an independent commission of inquiry has yet to get any response form the institutions”.

It said “our battle goes on in a renewed form, things are getting bad even under the new presidency of Cardinal Zuppi who has made many steps forward but will not take any action on this (clerical abuse), evidently”.

Latest News in the Russia-Ukraine War

Ukraine: The government in Kyiv renewed its calls for more weapons from the West as Ukraine’s last strongholds in the eastern Luhansk region came under threat from an intensified Russian offensive.

The two sides issued conflicting claims over which of them was in control of the strategically important city of Severodonetsk.

A Ukrainian woman found herself adopted as a symbol by Russian propagandists after she appeared in a viral video greeting troops with a Soviet flag. But Anna Ivanova, who lives in a home damaged by Russian shelling outside Kharkiv, says the war is “a huge calamity.”

In places like Bucha and Borodyanka, an influx of journalists and others seeking to document suspected Russian abuses has helped shed light on how the invading forces are treating civilians. But their work risks tainting evidence and undermining efforts to convict Russian soldiers for alleged war crimes.

U.S.: The Biden administration is preparing to send the long-range rocket systems Kyiv says are necessary to fight off the Russian onslaught, officials said.

Europe: Demography Governs Democracy

There is a replacement of civilization and the media is not even covering it.

Sept pas vers l’enfer (“Seven Steps to Hell”), the new book by Alain Chouet, the former number two of the DGSE, the powerful French counter-intelligence service, is an indictment of the European élites. Chouet recalls:

“I have been invited every year to give a lecture on the problems of the Arab world in Molenbeek, a suburb of Brussels. One day I was there… when Philippe Moureaux, the city’s socialist mayor and big boss of the Belgian Socialist Party, took the front row flanked by two imposing bodyguards in djellabas, beards and white berets. To the audience, Moureaux said I was not qualified to discuss the Arab world, as I came from a country that had tortured Muslims in Algeria. His reasoning is significant in the way in which, since the late 1980s, the European left has allowed itself to be taken by the sirens of militant Salafism. The management of Molenbeek is exemplary in this sense: authorizations granted easily and without any control for the opening and functioning of mosques, Islamic private schools, cultural and sports clubs generously subsidized by Saudi Arabia”.

  1. Suppose, for political reasons, you wanted occasional mass school shootings so that you could smear your political opponents. You might pass a law legally prohibiting the adults in a school from protecting the children. You could call it the Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990, and you could claim that the children would then be safe. It would then just be a matter of waiting for the occasional nutcase. Be sure that the law is never brought up in any news reporting.

  2. Re. Turkey blocking Finland, Sweden from getting into NATO:
This would be the first time this fool does something good, even if for all the wrong reasons. I don’t know anymore which side to have more disdain for, really. That retrograde islamist brute and opportunist, or the stupid gangs of headless chickens put at the helm of nations.

    • As much as I despise the goat zoophile of Ankara, I am pleased to see him jam up the gears of NATO. They deserve no less for allowing Turkey to be in the alliance in the first place, and when last I checked had no shoreline on the Atlantic. Even an evil two-bit thuggish islamist dictator occasionally has his uses.

Does Harris promise to disband her heavily-armed Secret Service security detail to set the example for us ‘proles? Thought not…..
