Gates of Vienna News Feed 5/15/2022

A gunman walked into a church luncheon in the Laguna Woods area of Orange County, California, and opened fire on participants, killing one person and wounding five others. Courageous congregants stopped the shooter from inflicting further casualties by jumping him and hogtying him with extension cords until police arrived. It is not known whether the shooter targeted his victims because they are Asians, but there are some reports that he himself is Chinese.

Inflation on the Rise in France, Driven by Rising Cost of Food and Energy

Inflation is creeping up in France, as it is in many parts of the world, but economists point out that not all prices are increasing. However, consumers are feeling the pinch, because the products that are most impacted are daily necessities, like petrol and food.

“Today we have a very particular inflation, in that it is not all prices that are rising, but only certain ones,” said economist Eric Heyer, of the OFCE at Sciences Po in Paris.

Inflation in France in April was at 4.8 percent, with the Insee statistics institute predicting it will hit 6 percent by June.

Unemployment Hit the Young Hardest During the Pandemic Says EU Study

Youth jobless rates increased the most in Slovenia and Lithuania say ESPON researchers

(ANSA) — ROME, MAY 13 — Young people were the main victims of the economic and social crisis triggered by the COVID-19 health emergency, paying a disproportionately high price in terms of unemployment or greater job insecurity, and mental-health problems, according to an EU study.

The preliminary version of the Geography of Covid study, conducted by the ESPON European cooperation programme specialized in regional analysis, said that youth unemployment in the EU’s regions increased by 21.81% with respect to pre-pandemic levels.

It said the young people most at risk of losing their jobs were employed in the sectors affected most by the restrictions imposed to combat the spread of COVID, such as hospitality, restaurant and accommodation services, and wholesale and retail trade.

The researchers observed that, as a result, the local economies based mainly on these sectors registered major increases in youth unemployment rates.

The EU States present a mixed picture, with Slovenia, Lithuania and Bulgaria registering the biggest increases in youth unemployment rates, at 76.8%, 68.5% and 63.2% respectively.

Furthermore, the study showed that the greatest variations were found within the countries themselves.

Regions with a vocation for tourism were hit hard and registered major increases in youth unemployment during the pandemic.

Indeed, young people working in the tourism sector often have short-term contracts that make them more vulnerable to being dismissed.

It also became more difficult for new graduates to enter the labour market, a phenomenon that could be seen especially in the big cities that are often home to universities.

The research showed that local authorities implemented social-support initiatives to help disadvantaged segments of the population, those considered most exposed to the social and economic crisis during the pandemic, including young people, women, children and the homeless.

In addition to leading to higher youth unemployment, the health emergency also led to an increase in the number of NEETs, people not in employment, education or training, especially in the 15-to-29 age group.

Furthermore, young workers were also affected by a moderate increase in the rate of people at risk of poverty in half of the EU’s countries.

According to a survey conducted by Eurofound in the spring of 2021 that was cited in the study, almost two-thirds of youngsters aged 18 to 34 were at risk of depression, with the deterioration in mental health being particularly acute among those who had lost their jobs.

Breaking: Buffalo Mass Shooter Threatened Shooting at High School, Was Known to Police, Underwent ‘Mental Health Evaluation’

Buffalo Shooting: Gunman Deliberately Sought Black Victims — Mayor

The man suspected of shooting dead 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, deliberately sought a site with a high black population, authorities say.

The suspect, Payton Gendron, 18, drove more than 320 km (200 miles) to carry out the attack, police say.

The attack is being investigated as an act of racially motivated violent extremism.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said the suspect arrived intending to take “as many black lives as possible”.

Questions are being asked about how he was able to carry out the attack when he was already on the radar of authorities.

Mr Gendron had previously threatened a shooting at his high school last June, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

A 180-page document seemingly authored by Mr Gedron has emerged, in which he describes himself as a fascist and a white supremacist.

“I want to know what people knew and when they knew it,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul told ABC News.

Meanwhile New York’s Attorney General Letitia James said her office would focus on extremist material online.

“This event was committed by a sick, demented individual who was fuelled [by a] daily diet of hate,” she said.

The shooting has stunned the local community. One of those attending a vigil on Sunday said “it just hurts, why somebody would do that”, Reuters reported.

Of the 13 people shot, police said 11 were black. Among those reported killed were a man buying cupcakes for his son’s birthday and a woman who had gone shopping after visiting her husband at a nursing home…

Danger: The WHO’s Death Trap for the US

The Biden administration, it appears, unless stopped immediately, is tee-ing up America to make it easy for the Chinese Communist Party to defeat it, and other nations, through biological warfare.

The World Health Organization (WHO), the organization that has unhesitatingly been doing China’s bidding during the COVID pandemic, is reportedly now planning to orchestrate a massive new power grab to internationally control the response to any future global pandemic. The plan is apparently to make the health of Americans dependent on the whims of China — which is both actively seeking to displace the US as the world’s leading superpower and has for years been working on new means of bio-warfare.

It is a plan that is being voted on next week: Congress and the American public need to fight vigorously — and FAST.

On May 4, a meticulous report, Biden Handing Over U.S. Sovereignty to WHO by Peter Breggin MD and Ginger Ross Breggin, raised an alarm. On May 2-28, 2022, the Biden Administration has proposed amendments to the WHO that “will empower WHO’s Director-General to declare health emergencies or crises in any nation and to do so unilaterally and against the opposition of the target nation.”

The danger is that China, according to reports, has actively been working on gene-splicing and globally collecting DNA with an eye to developing new lethal viruses that could be used for bio-warfare. They would be able target people who are genetically not Chinese, while bypassing people who genetically are Chinese.

Eckerd College Government Refuses to Recognize Republican Group Unless it Censors Its Social Media Posts

Eckerd College, a liberal arts school in Florida, more specifically, its Organization of Students (ECOS), is refusing to recognize the College Republicans club — even though the student government recognizes the one gathering Democrats.

But when it comes to Republicans, the ECOS wants to have the last word on what kind of content they are allowed to post online, notably on the @ecconservatives Instagram account, launched by student Tony Salvatori, a conservative, who is also behind creating the College Republicans chapter.

Now, the school has said that for the chapter to be recognized, students who belong to it must censor themselves and stop posting what some deem to be offensive and “problematic” content.

‘Heinous’ Shooting in Buffalo Being Investigated as Hate Crime, Extremism After 10 Killed: Latest Updates

BUFFALO — Vigils and prayers services were being held across the city Sunday after authorities said a teenage gunman, wearing tactical gear and a livestreaming camera, killed 10 people and wounded three more in a hate-fueled shooting rampage at a busy supermarket.

Eleven of the 13 people who were shot were Black, Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said. The suspect, who was taken into custody at the scene, is white. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a hate crime and racially-motivated violent extremism.

Voice Buffalo and other equity advocacy groups organized a vigil near the shooting scene that drew a crowd of hundreds Sunday morning. Among the speakers was the Rev. Mark Blue, president of the Buffalo NAACP, who called for unity among residents of all races.

Blue said everyone must “continue to support those who have been victimized by this heinous act” of racism.

“Too much hurt is in our community,” Blue said. “We are only stronger when we are together.”

FBI investigates alleged 180-page manifesto

Federal agents interviewed Gendron’s parents and were working to confirm the authenticity of a 180-page manifesto that was posted online, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Sunday. The manifesto detailed the plot and identified Gendron by name as the gunman, the official said. Authorities say the shooting was motivated by racial hatred.

Gendron’s parents were cooperating with investigators, the official said. The official was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation into the Saturday afternoon shooting publicly and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity…

Laguna Woods Church Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 5 Hurt

“Exceptional heroism and bravery.” Church congregants at the lunch acted quickly to subdue the shooter, who was already “hog-tied” on his legs with an extension cord when help arrived, authorities said.

A group of churchgoers in Orange County stopped a mass shooter after he opened fire on a luncheon, hog-tying him with an extension cord until authorities could arrive at the Laguna Woods church.

One person was dead while at least five people were hurt, four critically and one with minor injuries, after a shooting at a church in the Laguna Woods area of Orange County, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Teenager Shot to Death at Major Chicago Tourist Destination

A 16-year-old boy was shot to death near the famous “The Bean” sculpture in Chicago’s Millennium Park on Saturday.

Police have taken two suspects into custody in relation to the shooting, but authorities have yet to release names or a motive for the shooting. The boy, Seandell Holliday, was shot at the popular tourist attraction around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.

“Earlier this evening, a 16-year-old was tragically killed near Millennium Park. This senseless loss of life is utterly unacceptable,” Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement Saturday evening. “Tonight, a mother is grief-stricken, mourning the loss of her child and searching for answers. My heart is breaking for the mother as she grieves this unspeakable loss.”

Lightfoot added that her administration plans on taking “additional actions” to prevent future shootings, but has yet to offer details.

Holliday was one of several Chicago teens to be shot this weekend. At least three others were shot — one fatally — in incidents across the city between Friday and Saturday.

Off With the Mask: Quebec Becomes Last Province to Lift COVID-19 Masking Health Order

Quebec was the first province in Canada to impose a mask mandate after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and on Saturday, it became the last province to allow residents to go maskless in most indoor public places.

In force since July 2020, the masking rule expired at 12:01 a.m., allowing patrons of stores, bars, restaurants, gyms and shopping centres, along with students in elementary and high schools, to wear a mask only if they choose to.

Masking remains mandatory, however, on public transit and in health-care facilities. People who contract COVID-19 will have to wear a mask in public while they recover, and companies can set their own rules in the workplace.

German Defense Minister’s Son Boasts About Taxpayer-Funded Heli Rides on Instagram

In a government that, less than six months after taking office, is showing an unprecedented level of incompetence in German post-war history, Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) still manages effortlessly to set her own standards of embarrassment and clumsiness.

Recently it was announced that her 21-year-old son had been flown to Sylt in a government helicopter for Easter holiday. It was not the first dubious “journey” of this kind on which the son “accompanied” his mother.

The cost per flight hour for the government helicopter “Cougar” (which Lambrechts son A. used, among other things) is said to be 5 300 euros. The offspring himself documented the flights in detail on his Instagram channel, both brazen and boastful. In this specific case, the minister went to visit troops in Schleswig-Holstein on April 13, and from there continued her journey to Sylt in order to relax there over Easter. Lambrecht was apparently accompanied to Sylt by her son.

Italy: Plan Coming to Cull Wild Boar Amid Swine Fever Alert

Number of boar five times too high in some areas says Health Undersecretary Costa

(ANSA) — ROME, MAY 13 — Health Undersecretary Andrea Costa said Friday that the government is working on a plan to cull wild boar, after several cases of swine fever were detected in Rome and with the animals becoming increasingly brazen about their encroachments into residential areas as they forage, especially in the capital.

“The plan for the selective cull of wild board is coming,” Costa told ANSA.

The undersecretary said the plan was being prepared by the health ministry and environmental-protection institute ISPRA together with the regions affected by the swine-fever outbreak, Liguria, Piedmont and Lazio.

Costa added that a cull would be needed even without the swine-fever problem.

“We have to reduce the number of boar to protect our agriculture and avoid risks for citizens’ safety,” he said.

“The population density of wild boar in some areas of Italy is five times higher than can be sustained by the ecosystem.

“Aside from the temporary factor of the swine fever, I remain convinced that, while respecting the sensibility of animal-rights campaigners, this is an emergency that makes it necessary to extend the hunting season from three to five month and allow regions to reset (hunting) quotas”.

The Rome cases are the first outside the area of the original outbreak in Liguria and Piedmont.

African swine fever is a highly contagious and deadly viral disease affecting both domestic and feral swine of all ages.

ASF is not a threat to human health and cannot be transmitted from pigs to humans.

It is not a food safety issue. ASF is found in countries around the world.

Romans are “hostages to wild boar”, farm group Coldiretti Lazio chief David Granieri said last week, citing the case of a woman attacked in the Italian capital by a herd of eight boar including six piglets.

The presence of over 20,000 boar in Rome and its surrounding province, and more than 100,000 in the whole of Lazio, has brought about “an unacceptable and out of control situation,” said Granieri, citing over two million euros in damage wrought recently.

In the capital, a family of 12 wild boar strolled through traffic recently spurring a video that went viral on the Web in the latest in a slew of such sightings over the past few month

Spain: Toy Advertisements May No Longer be Pink or Blue

In Catholic Spain, of all places, gender activists have won a new victory. Children’s and babies’ toys may now no longer be advertised in “gender-specific” colours such as pink and light blue. In Germany, woke parents are subjecting their children to the same grooming.

The umbrella organisation of Spanish toy manufacturers has committed to rules against gender-specific toy advertising vis-à-vis the left-wing government in Madrid. The two sides signed an agreement that for the first time explicitly bans the portrayal of girls in “discriminatory or derogatory” ways in advertising, according to the Ministry of Consumer Protection.

  1. It shocking to see how the left/mainstream media has ignored and downplayed about the Nigerian girl murdered by her muslim classmates.

  2. Alarm about lowly chaos cops

Published 16 May 2022 at 10.23 in Fria Tider

With the current lowered admission requirements for police training, we will have police officers “with such a low level of aptitude that they would not be allowed to do military service”.

Johan Siverland, police inspector and teacher at the police training at Södertörn University, writes this in the Police News.

“As a teacher at Södertörn University’s police training programme, I view the future with strong scepticism,” writes Johan Siverland in his opinion piece in Polistidningen.

He describes how today there are students who “have been caught cheating, who have to eat psychotropic drugs to cope with everyday life and who show their own driving licences and ask how they know which numbers are their personal identity numbers”.

“Students who, during training, more than halfway through the course, shoot a ‘drunk man’ who won’t give up his bottle of booze,” Siverland continues.

With current admission requirements and procedures, he says, we will have police officers who lack the skills to intervene properly, who “may well fabricate evidence” and who may pose a danger to themselves and others.

“We will have police officers working under criminal responsibility with such a low level of aptitude that they would not be allowed to do military service,” writes Johan Siverland.

Something needs to be done about the low admission requirements and procedures in police training, he concludes.

“I believe that the leadership of the police authority and the politicians who govern it must decide on one of two options.

Do we want normal, honest, competent and mentally healthy police officers? Even if we don’t get more as quickly as we would like?

Or do we want as many police as possible as quickly as possible? Even if a larger number than before behave in such a way that the public’s as well as the legal community’s confidence in police officers deteriorates?” writes Johan Siverland.

    • Oh yes, how could we forget that professional police forces in Western Europe are now like the US with forced diversity and lowered standards to fit these 3rd worlders in our police.

  3. About the murder and “mass shooting” at the Taiwanese Church luncheon, the shooter was a Mainland Chinese, naturalized American, 60+ years old, whose “wife and child do not live with him” ?Are in China?
The FBI is investigating this as a hate crime, because he shot the Church members because they were Taiwanese.
I put “mass shooting” in quotes because the MSM has not referred to this attack as a mass shooting. Wrong perpetrator and victims, doanchakno?
