Eric Zemmour: The Reconquest of France

Gates of Vienna is no johnny-come-lately in its coverage of Eric Zemmour. Major media outlets outside of France have just now discovered him, but we’ve been featuring subtitled videos of his TV appearances for more than five years.

Up until recently my tagline for him has been “the popular French commentator Eric Zemmour”, but it will now have to change to “the French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour”. And maybe, if we’re lucky, I may someday get to type the words “French President Eric Zemmour”.

Mr. Zemmour is driving the legacy media bananas. He has named his political party Reconquête — Reconquest. How could he possibly be more offensive? Their standard description of him is “the far-right French television personality Eric Zemmour”. They love to track down all the politically incorrect things he has said and clutch their pearls about his “racism”, especially when he talks about Islam, and says negative things about culture-enrichers. They don’t seem to understand that it is his willingness to say such things forthrightly in public that makes him so wildly popular. Not even Marine Le Pen is willing to push the envelope as far as he does.

In addition to being vilified by the left-wing press (but then, I repeat myself), Mr. Zemmour has been prosecuted and convicted multiple times by the state for his “hate speech”. More recently, he has been physically attacked by antifa-types and “youths”. I hope his campaign has budgeted large amounts of money for bodyguards and security consultants, because he’s going to need all the protection he can get.

The Left is sandbagged in their efforts to thwart Mr. Zemmour by the fact that he is Jewish. Oh, I’m sure they can trot out the usual suspects among liberal Jews to talk about how afraid they are of having a right-wing extremist gain the presidency. But how much credibility will they have when the candidate identifies Muslim immigrants as a threat to France? It is Muslim culture-enrichers who have been committing deadly violence against French Jews, and everybody knows it.

The video below features the opening of Eric Zemmour’s speech in Villepinte, where he launched his campaign in front of 15,000 cheering supporters.

Video transcript:

00:00   Hello to all! Hello my friends!
00:08   Thank you, thank you for this welcome! It’s incredible! What an atmosphere.
00:15   What a pleasure it is to be here in front of you in Villepinte.
00:20   Thank you, really. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
00:34   [Chanting something]
00:48   I heard the words of those who spoke before me.
00:53   I thank them. Thank you, my friends.
00:58   Thank you for being here. Thank you for your support. The great gathering finally starts today.
01:07   You are close to 15,000 people today.
01:24   15,000 French people. 15,000 French who braved political correctness,
01:30   the threats of the extreme left and the hatred of the media.
01:39   15,000 French people who do not lower their eyes
01:47   and who are determined to change the course of history.
01:56   However, let us not succumb to false modesty. The stakes are immense.
02:02   If I win this election it will not be an alternative version of business as usual but the beginning
02:07   of the reconquest of the most beautiful country of the world.
02:22   [Chanting something]
02:37   And yes, it suffered so much, this country, forgotten by our successive leaders on all key issues.
02:46   It will be necessary to repair the innumerable errors which were committed the past forty years:
02:53   The economy, ecology, purchasing power, public services, immigration, and national security.
02:59   None of the major areas of the action that we must carry out escapes the serious
03:05   and complete project that we will begin today to reveal to the French.
03:21   So, following the indispensable time of observations and a wake up call,
03:27   the time has come for this project.
03:32   Who could have imagined that a few months ago?
03:38   The powers that be had already decided it,
03:42   the journalists wished for it, and the right had accepted it:
03:49   The next presidential election had to be a mere formality to usher in five more years of Macronism.
04:08   France had to continue to depart quietly, exiting history, and the French
04:15   had to disappear in silence from the land of their ancestors.
04:23   But a small grain of sand arrived to jam the machine.
04:36   No, this grain of sand isn’t me! This grain of sand — it’s you!
04:52   I’m going to tell you, I’m going to tell you a beautiful story.
04:59   I’m going to tell you the story of what you have accomplished these last few months.
05:06   Last June, on all the platforms, at all the dinners in town, in all the polling institutes,
05:13   what was being heard and known by everyone, was that in the second round, only Macron could win.
05:27   This presidential election was of no interest and then, and then a rumor started to spread.
05:40   Yes, yes, I admit it, I hesitated for a long time,
05:47   but you made it here, we’ve made it here,
05:50   and we have upset the plans (?) they had established for us.
05:54   We have broken the tacit pact between all the actors in this farce.
06:10   Until (?) the results of the coming election, I weigh my words by pronouncing this sentence:
06:21   Your presence honors me. It gives me honor, because by coming here you are living proof of courage,
06:29   of verve, of audacity, and I dare to say it,
06:33   by your commitment you have shown greater urgency of commitment and resistance
06:39   than that of quasi-totality of the political leaders of these last thirty years.
06:55   In Bordeaux, Lyon, Lille, Nice, Ajaccio [Corsica], Nantes, Rouen, Biarritz and today in Paris.
07:10   France is calling for help, and the French people have answered the call.
07:15   For months, our meetings have disturbed the journalists, angered the politicians
07:22   and have made the left hysterical.
07:28   On each of my trips, they are enraged to see people who will never accept disappearing forever.
07:41   Because from the four ends of this country they saw these rooms full,
07:46   bursting and overflowing with enthusiasm. They see your flags, they hear your songs,
07:51   and they are stunned by your applause.

  1. Nope. He’s there to steal Le Pen’s votes and to pretend he is a real candidate. When the job is done, he’ll fade back to his regularly scheduled commentary.

    • …and of course you have definitive proof of that which you will now provide.

      Crickets………………………

      • It’s a prediction. But a ridiculous one, obviously. You just have to look at Zemmour’s totally trustworthy face to know he’s totally trustworthy.

Btw, you yourself believe many things without “definitive proof.” Unless you’re God, which I take leave to doubt.

    • “The President of the French Republic is elected to a five-year term in a two-round election under Article 7 of the Constitution: if no candidate secures an absolute majority of votes in the first round, a second round is held two weeks later between the two candidates who received the most votes.” – wiki

…I know that voting is far from perfect, but there is actually a “check” for stealing the votes away from a candidate by another candidate with a similar program.

There is a “check” for stealing votes by a candidate with a similar program in the French election system.

  2. Spot on Vera.

It is amazing how many people fall for the same trick over and over and over.

Hope springs eternal for some people and shuts down what common sense and their experience has been for the past whatever years.

Nothing is retained for some people.

    • France since World War II has had no one like Zemmour as President. Not even close. Not one important candidate has said anything like what he is saying.

It’s OK to be cynical. I get it, but this is a Trump type and he is afraid of nothing. Same as Geert Wilders. He may not win but he is not [talking nonsense] and that is why the Left is so worried. No one has worried the Left post WWII except the LePen family and they have won nothing.

      • Well John, lets look a little closer at your hypothesis.

Trump said he would lock up Hillary – “crickets”.

Trump said he would build a wall on the border – “crickets”

Trump said he would end DACA – “crickets”

Trump said he would remove the deepstate – yet he employed them in all key positions.

Trump said he would bring back the troops – “crickets”

Trump said he would leave the UN – “crickets”

Trump said he would make UN members pay their share – didn’t happen.

Trump said he would end excessive spending yet signed every omnibus bill put to him.

Trump initiated the quaxines and mandates while locking down the US economy.

Now tell me again if Zemmour is a “trump-type” how electing him will be worthwhile. Note that the above is EVIDENCE as you requested.

I cant wait to read your “made-up” stuff. You know, like the Trump fantasies that never eventuated. So how about you give us EVIDENCE to back your claims of hope.

As usual the vote will be rigged. Its simply easier to rig if you have two candidates to disperse the large number of votes that will be lost from Macron. Election ripoff 101.

        • Exactly. I was sorta rooting for Trump for quite some time. What finally did it was the way he behaved during the aftermath of the vote in 2020, and in January 2021. He lured his most devoted fans to a trap in DC, and then threw them under the bus. He could have found out who killed Ashli. He could have started an investigation into it. He could have done something to protect all the people who got busted for trespassing, some of whom are still in jail. Nah. Trump was not who we hoped he might be.

      • The are using someone who speaks truth to lead France into another blind alley. A clever trap. Still a trap. My 2 cents.

        • Vera what you say isn’t worth 2 cents. Its worth a fortune.

[insult redacted] John are a dime a dozen. He is probably still thinking his vote is worth something.

          [insult redacted]

          • My vote was worth something in 2016 along with many Americans who love our country. Otherwise we would have had Hillary Clinton – your obvious choice.

Trump promised a lot of things and he was naive. He did not account for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell being RINO’s.

He did not account for a treaasounous CIA.
He did not accounbt fro a treasonous NSA
He did not account for a treasonous FBI
He did not account for a treasonous Supreme Court
He did not account for a treasonous military
He did not account for a treasonous Jeff Sessions
He did not account for hundreds of other Deep State actors and bureaucracies.

We know all this now, but Trump did not know all this at the time in 2016 and neither did you.

  3. Reconquête = Reconquest = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconquista

The Reconquista (Portuguese and Spanish for “reconquest”) was a period in the history of the Iberian Peninsula of about 781 years between the Umayyad conquest of Hispania in 711, the expansion of the Christian kingdoms throughout Hispania, and the fall of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada in 1492.

  4. I lean toward Vera’s interpretation. It’s Le Pen that the French and European left fear.

  5. The are using someone who speaks truth to lead France into another blind alley. A clever trap. Still a trap. My 2 cents.

  6. All of you people think we are going to vote our way out of this mess are clearly delusional, that time is long gone and far past. This will come to force of arms to solve, as every bloody one of you know to be true. Democracy, whatever the hell that is these days is dead. Welcome to the age of the strongman because everyone truly believed that these grifters and voted for whoever promised them the most goodies. Well, welcome to the coming hell that awaits us all, all because none of us did our due diligence and put the best man in charge, instead we voted for woke, leftist, feminaxi females and effeminate so called men with no accountability and marxist one world disorder on their screwed up minds thinking that they will actually rule when all is said and done. Frankly, I can’t wait until the Great Purge takes place, for when it comes, it will be quick, ruthless and shock and awe the sheep into compliance. The Wolves and Lions again will rule, and the sheep will be slaughtered by however many it takes to get the point across. If you want to blame someone for this [parlous situation]? Look in the mirror, for where were you when the sheepdogs were put out to pasture, fired and driven out because the bloody sheep knew better? Well here we are, at the void, staring into the abyss.

    • Democracy is not yet dead. But it’s on a ventilator in a Coma unable to change its fate. The ends of democracies are known since at least Socrates’ days: Democracies turn into tyrranies, after criminals occupy the positions of power.
But I wouldn’t worry too much about it. A civilised society is 2 weeks away from anarchy if you take away the food. And by the looks of it – Circuses are gone, and it is only a matter of time before we run out of bread… And the USA and the EU seems to be hell bent on destroying our (EU) Russian natural gas supply right for this winter.

Just on a side note: Interesting fate awaits kings who destroy their own land, and their own people…

Isaiah 14:18 (God speaking to Lucifer) “All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.”
