Group Protests Courthouse Mask Policy

Demonstrators stood in front of the Bonner County Courthouse on Monday to protest the courthouse’s mask policy.

The policy, “Stay Healthy Guidelines” was enacted on May 11 mandating that all people within state buildings must wear a mask.

Governor Brad Little signed an executive order on May 28 restoring local government’s ability to create their own mandates, or lack thereof.

Bonner County residents in conjunction with People’s Rights group disagree with the policy. A demonstration of approximately 10-20 people met in front of the Bonner County Courthouse Monday afternoon to oppose the policy. They demand it’s against their rights to wear a mask, notably in the courthouse.

Some participants said they were concerned about their restricted ability to civically participate in court proceedings.

According to the demonstrators, this is a restriction of their rights under the U.S. and Idaho constitutions.

Microsoft Promotes Its Own Edge Browser When Users Search for Alternatives

A leopard never changes its spots, as Microsoft’s recent behavior that saw the tech giant aggressively promote its own product, Edge, when people search for other browsers, seems to prove.

Microsoft has a long and inglorious history of anti-competitive behavior, particularly in the early years of personal computing when it absolutely dominated both desktop and server markets with the Windows operating system, and was in the habit of bundling its now discarded browser, Internet Explorer (IE), with the OS, which regulators both in the US and in Europe saw as anti-competitive behavior.

US Jury Awards $25m in Damages Over Unite the Right Rally

A US jury has awarded millions in damages against the organisers of a deadly far-right rally in August 2017.

The defendants were found liable in four out of six counts over the bloodshed at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Nine of those injured sued the event’s organisers arguing they had conspired to commit racially motivated violence.

A woman was killed and dozens were hurt after an avowed neo-Nazi drove a car into counter-protesters.

The total damages awarded amount to $25m (£19m), according to US media.

In court, the jury awarded $500,000 in punitive damages against 12 defendants, and $1m against five white supremacist organisations. Punitive damages are awarded at a court’s discretion to punish a defendant for conduct judged to be especially harmful.

Additionally, the jury awarded $250,000 in compensatory damages to two plaintiffs and $200,000 against several defendants.

A total of $12m in punitive damages was also imposed against the driver of the car in the fatal incident.

Worst-Case Scenario: Over 1,000 Daily COVID Cases by January

The Coronavirus Cabinet convened Tuesday night and the ministers were presented with a number of scenarios — including a scenario according to which the coefficient of infection continues to rise and in which there will be between 1,000 and 3,000 new verified coronavirus cases per day by January.

The team of Hebrew University researchers pointed to an increase in the number of vaccinated adolescents in the age group 13-18 who have recently been diagnosed with coronavirus, rising from 12% in early November to 16% in recent days.

The researchers noted that the significant increase in the rate of infection in adolescents is an important statistic since most of them are vaccinated with two vaccines.

According to the expert team’s report, there is an expectation of a gradual increase in morbidity and efforts should be invested in vaccinating children and providing the booster shot to adolescents.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced at the meeting that he intends to promote a move in which the children studying in schools and kindergartens will undergo antigen tests before returning to school from the Hanukkah holiday.

During the meeting, Bennett said, “There is a very strong and severe wave of the Delta strain that has hit the world in Eastern Europe and now also in Western Europe. Austria is in a general lockdown. We see a jump in high numbers in some countries. In many Western countries there is a significant increase. This is mainly due to the fact that they did not give the booster shots in time.”

“Here in Israel we are controlling the epidemic well. We also overcame the fourth wave without closing businesses, making a general lockdown and without preventing studies, and we also created a set of tools that we did not have before like serological and antigen tests to control the disease. Here in Israel there is a disturbing trend of childhood disease.[…]

He said, “We set out today with the pediatric vaccination campaign. There are about 3 million children in the world who have been vaccinated. It is very important that we give a boost to this move. There are currently no components of pressure through incentives or green passes. We are simply engaging in an information campaign that is mainly about transparency. We explain that the vaccines are safe, that the risks of symptoms such as heart inflammation are higher in children with coronavirus than in children who get the coronavirus vaccine. In my experience, some things may come out, so please do not say things that might hurt the campaign[…]

Dominican Republic: Protest Called Against Mandatory Presentation of Vaccination Card

Santo Domingo, DR.

A group of people protested this Sunday in the Plaza de la Bandera against vaccination cards.

Leaders of some movements such as “No tenemos miedo,” “Las intocables,” “Mujeres de acero,” “Toy cansao,’“ “Dios, patria y libertad,” “G-10,” “La antigua orden dominicana,” among other independent organizations, have come together demanding what they call as “no violation of their rights, and freedom.”

The representative of one of the attending groups, Wendy Santiago, explained to this newspaper that they will continue the demonstrations against the resolution issued by the Ministry of Public Health, which obliges citizens to carry the Covid-19 vaccination card to enter public spaces, accompanied by their identity card.

“Those of us who are not vaccinated are not spreading any virus, because we are not carriers of any virus, and if there is something to vaccinate we ask the State to vaccinate the air, because the work that had to be done by sprinkling the streets with chloroquine, to disperse the pollutivity of the virus was not done,” emphasized Wendy Santiago.

The demonstrators shouted: “Today it is vaccine, and tomorrow dictatorship,” and “With card or without card this homeland is respected.”

Still, she was not allowed access because she did not present the vaccination card, which has been required in public spaces since October 18 as a measure to control the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and those not vaccinated can be inoculated.

Susana, who did not want to give more details of her identity, said she could not be vaccinated because she has a pulmonary problem, but she had a coronavirus test at least a week ago. However, the test must be 48 hours to enter a facility, according to resolution number 00048 issued by the Ministry of Public Health.

Susana’s case was registered in the long lines at the station, and after the security, agents asked for the vaccination card and ID card. This resulted in crowding and complaints from the users of the transportation services.

Susana was on her way to a medical appointment and indicated that she had no choice but to ask for a cab.

In the same way, she pointed out that these actions of denying her a public service does not surprise her and that the word of God says that the times “will go from bad to worse.”

Belarus: EU to Target Firms Trafficking Migrants With ‘Blacklist’

European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen has said the EU aims to create a watchlist to deter intermediaries from transporting migrants to Belarus.

Speaking at the European Parliament, von der Leyen said Brussels would stand in solidarity with EU member states Poland, Latvia and Lithuania.

She rejected the idea that there was a migrant crisis at Europe’s eastern frontier, saying instead that it was an attempt by Belarus to “destabilize the bloc.”

What is the latest plan?

Von der Leyen said she would propose rules to European Parliament lawmakers to “blacklist all means and modes of transport involved in trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.”

“Today the Commission is putting forward a legislative proposal to do this,” she said.

EU Needs to Implement Tough Australian Style Immigration System

The law of the European Union regulating migration is outdated and not suitable for an effective fight against illegal immigration, Balazs Orban, secretary of state at the Prime Minister’s Office, said at the English-language Friends of Hungary Foundation online conference on Monday.

“Hungary is trying to protect its borders,” Orban emphasized. He said the EU needs to be more rigorous even than Australia, which is known for its tough but successful immigration policy. No one can enter that country illegally, and if someone does try, they should lose their chance of asylum.

Migrant Smugglers Have a New Route From Turkey Straight to Calabria

Migrants usually go to the European Union via the Mediterranean Sea through the shortest possible route, but now a new route is opening to Calabria, Italy, which only a select few can afford.

According to the AP, richer Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians, and Kurds are increasingly using this route. For a trip from Turkey on new or almost new sailboats, which are easier to avoid detection by the authorities, they have to pay smugglers far more than on other routes. A ticket for an adult costs up to $10,000 (€8,881) and an average of $4,500 (€3,997) for children.

Swedish Scientists Prosecuted for Finding That Most Rapes Are Committed by Immigrants

A recent case in Sweden could explain why politicians and human rights activists often claim there is no scientific evidence for higher criminality within immigrant communities in Western societies.

A recent case in Lund University is now serving as a clear-cut example of what happens when researches try to gather scientific evidence regarding issues that might not support the officially sanctioned political narrative. It also demonstrates that how funds are restricted for studying the impact of immigration, how research into the subject is not permitted by universities, and how scientists who disobey the restrictions face serious persecution.

This is what has happened to Professor Kristina Sundquist from Sweden’s Lund University, who alongside two other colleagues, conducted detailed research into the profile of those who commit sexual violence in Sweden. The research was not aimed at racially profiling the offenders, as the scientists themselves put it, but they nevertheless have discovered some facts about the ethnic profile of rapists by accident.

Sundquist, who is the most cited professor at her university regarding social research, is now being investigated for publishing an unauthorized research report, and may face prosecution for coming to the conclusion that the vase majority of rapes are committed by immigrants to the country.
