Most Poles Reduce Shopping Under Inflation
Nearly 70 percent of Poles have limited their spending due to inflation, showed a Friday-published survey by the UCE Research and Syno Poland pollsters.
Only one in five respondents said they were not planning to cut their shopping budgets.
Most of the spending cuts are on clothes, alcohol, condiments and snacks, less on coffee, tea, soft drinks and detergents. According to the authors of the survey, this shows that the cuts mainly concern non-first-need products.

Poland’s Average Corporate Wage Up 8.4 Pct y/y in Oct — Stats Office
Poland’s average corporate gross monthly wage rose by 8.4 percent year on year to PLN 5,917.15 (EUR 1,265 ) in October 2021, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday.

Anti-Rittenhouse Protesters Riot in Oregon, Shut Down Bridge in New York
Despite calm in Kenosha, Wisconsin, anti-Rittenhouse protesters rioted in Portland, Oregon, and shut down the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. The incident followed a Wisconsin jury finding Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on all five charges on Friday.
Portland Police Bureau officials declared a protest to be a riot after a group of people protesting the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse case broke through a gate at the Multnomah County Detention Center. The rioters also attacked a vehicle parked on the street.
Sheriff’s Office officials reported that the crowd, measuring about two dozen in size, were chanting “burn it down” and they broke open the detention center gate.

Ex-Girlfriend of Nashville Christmas Day Bomber Files Lawsuit Over Reward Money
The ex-girlfriend of the Nashville Christmas day bomber filed a lawsuit Friday, claiming she should receive the $284,000 in rewards offered in the aftermath of the blast.
The suit, filed by Pamela Perry, seeks the reward because she came forward “at great personal risk to aid law enforcement in identifying” Anthony Warner as the bomber.
Warner detonated a bomb in downtown Nashville around 6:30 a.m. on Christmas morning last year. The blast significantly damaged buildings in the Second Avenue and Commerce Street area, and damaged an AT&T switch facility, which crippled telephone and internet services across the state.
Warner was the only person killed by the bomb.
An investigation conducted in the months following determined Warner acted alone.
In the days following the explosion, Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis offered a $250,000 reward, and Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. offered $34,500 to anyone with information leading to the bomber or bomber’s identification.

Rittenhouse’s Lawyer Slams Biden for Suggesting Rittenhouse is a ‘White Supremacist’
The lead defense attorney for Kyle Rittenhouse condemned President Joe Biden’s suggestion that his 18-year-old client is a “white supremacist” at a Friday press conference.
After four days of deliberation, the jury acquitted Rittenhouse on Friday of all five felony charges brought against him for the shootings that killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz at a riot responding to the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Eco-Activists Occupy London Bridges Over Jailing of Insulate Britain Protesters
Eco-activists gathered in central London today to rally against the jailing of nine Insulate Britain activists for blocking the M25 in defiance of a court injunction.

Italian Epidemiologist Recommends People Shun Unvaccinated at Christmas
Italian epidemiologist Pier Luigi Lopalco has recommended that vaccinated Italians shun the unvaccinated at Christmas, saying they should not invite them to their homes for Christmas dinner.

More than 50 percent of Poles favour tighter measures on people who are unvaccinated, a new poll has found.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s leader plans to hold a series of talks around Europe about the pressure of migrants on the European Union’s border with Belarus, a crisis that he expects will continue.

Estonia Sends Soldiers to Help Poland Stop Illegal Migrants Breaking Into EU
Estonia is sending soldiers to help Poland secure its border against an onslaught of Middle Eastern migrants attempting to break into the European Union via Alexander Lukashenko’s Belarus.

EU Lawmakers Call for More Legal Migration to Supposedly Stop Illegal Immigration
Several Members of the European Parliament have suggested that the European Union could reduce illegal arrivals by simply making it far easier for migrants to enter member states legally.

The former chief immigration officer has warned that migrants ‘know they’ve won the jackpot’ when they arrive in the UK as the number of Channel crossings hit a record 4,000 for the month yesterday.

Finns Fear Migrants Will be Sent to Their Border With Russia
The Finnish government will face a vote of no confidence in parliament, called by opposition parties over security concerns on the eastern border with Russia.

Italy Rescues 420 Migrants in Rough Seas in Mediterranean
ROME: The Italian Coast Guard rescued more than 420 migrants Saturday, including dozens of minors, from boats in difficulty in the Mediterranean Sea including using cargo ships to block the wind that was buffeting one of the overcrowded vessels.
A coast guard statement said 70 migrants were brought safely by one of its motorboats to the tiny Italian island of Lampedusa, south of Sicily.
Meanwhile, a different coast guard vessel was headed to the port of Porto Empedocle on Saturday evening in Sicily with more than 350 migrants aboard after they were plucked to safety from a foundering fishing boat 70 miles (115 kilometers) from the Sicilian coast, the statement said. Among them were more than 40 minors.

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has told the BBC that it is “absolutely possible” that his forces are helping Middle Eastern migrants break through the eastern borders of the EU and NATO, and that he will not be looking into it.

Poland Says Belarus Has Changed Tactics on Migrant Crisis
Poland said Saturday that Belarus has changed tactics in their border crisis by directing smaller groups of migrants to several points along the European Union’s eastern frontier.
Though there have been signs of the crisis easing, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said he expected the border showdown to be long drawn out while Belarus said the situation remained “tense”.

Two Hundred Migrants Storm Polish Border
Several groups of migrants, including one consisting of some 200 people, carried out attempts to break through the Polish border from Belarus on Friday afternoon, Polish border guard have reported.
Anna Michalska, a border guard spokeswoman, reported on Saturday on the events that took place in the vicinity of Dubicze Cerkiewne, north-eastern Poland.
“The biggest group consisted of two hundred people, the other ones counted several dozen,” Michalska said. “As a result, 24 people managed to penetrate the Polish territory at a distance of a dozen or so metres,” she continued.

Holly Stars, a drag queen performer and activist, tweeted on Saturday the removal of a photo Stars took of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s home, with the address fully visible. Stars cited supposed “transphobic messages” the pic was receiving.
