Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/2/2021

Glenn Youngkin, the Republican candidate for Virginia governor, currently has a substantial lead over Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat. However, it’s too early to call the race for Mr. Youngkin, because the 2 a.m. boxes of mail-in votes have yet to be discovered.

In other news, the U.S. Air Force removed 23 recruits from boot camp because they had failed to get a COVID-19 vaccination.

66 Percent of Canadians Say Trudeau’s Inflation is Causing Stress: Poll

66 percent of Canadians have said they are stressed over Trudeau’s significant inflation and the rising costs of goods.

This survey was conducted by Angus Reid, who discovered that inflation is Canada’s top financial stressor.

This stress is worse for parents who have kids under the age of 18. For them, the stress of inflation is nearly ubiquitous. They reported being clearly more stressed than other Canadians.

Inflation in Canada has soared to an 18-year high at 4.2 percent. Recently, the Bank of Canada stated that they expect inflation to soon rise to 5 percent, meaning goods and services will get even more expensive for all Canadians.

Czechia Has Record High October Budget Deficit

At the end of October, the state budget deficit rose to 335 billion korunas (€13 billion) from 326.3 billion korunas (€12.7 billion) in September, which is the worst October result since the establishment of the Czech Republic. Last year, at the end of October, the deficit was 274 billion korunas (€10.7 billion).

A Bellwether Election?

The central consideration to bear in mind is that word gets around. People cannot be fooled for long. They will know if the elections are stolen from their preferred candidates. If the Republican Party, nominally the party that stands for limited government, free markets, and a strong national defense, should again fail to defend their interests, they will withdraw their support once and for all. They will begin a determined search for an alternative at last. They might not settle on a democratic approach — note the small “d.”

Air Force Kicked Out 23 Recruits From Boot Camp Who Refused to Get COVID Vaccine

The U.S. Air Force removed 23 recruits from boot camp last week after they refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the Nov. 2 deadline, defense officials confirmed to Fox News.

According to Pentagon officials, there is no military-wide punishment for those who refuse the vaccine, and each service must decide how to handle those situations. The deadline for active-duty members in the Navy to receive the vaccine is Nov. 28, with the Army’s being set at Dec. 15.

Another Day, Another Vaccine Passport App Caught Exposing Sensitive Medical Records of Its Users to the World

The rollouts and usage of vaccine passports are proving problem-laden in many places around the world, wither on technical or ethical merit, or both (or lack thereof), and the newest member of this “club” is an app called Docket, that is the endorsed Covid vaccine app in US states of Utah and New Jersey. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also approved the app.

But just last week, reports revealed that Docket was yet another app that had a security vulnerability. TechCrunch said it was responsible for identifying the bug and submitting a report, while the CEO of the company behind the app, Michael Perretta, then informed them the server level bug had been fixed.

Anti-Vaccine Mandates and Critical Race Theory Bills Submitted for Special Session

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) — All of the 26 bills proposed for the special session next week have been unveiled.

There has been a lot of discussion and speculation over what types of bills would be submitted. For some, these topics are meant to handle emergencies which weren’t dealt with during the last legislative session.

However, there are others who believe many of them are “distractions” and will “bog down” the process of redistricting and allocating American Rescue Plan Act funds, which were the original reasons for the special session.

Of the 26, nine of them deal with COVID vaccine mandates for employers, employees, and schools.

Bare Shelves Will Make This a Merry Nothing-mas

Now, it’s not merely that our rapidly deteriorating logistical system is failing from gross incompetence within the government that artificially disrupts the processes. It’s that these systems — you know, the ones that feed us here in the concrete jungles — are hugely vulnerable to enemy cyber-attacks. Now China is not our friend — well, China is the friend of the ruling class in the way that Dracula was the friend of Renfield — and why should it waste good money showering us with the hypersonic missiles it’s building as we debate how to give more free money to deadbeats? It can just turn us off with the flip of a switch.

Based on Pfizer’s Own Data, Kids 5-11 Don’t Need Their “Vaccine”

The ‘experts’ have tossed every measure of safety or medical convention in history out the window for this in exchange for laundering tens of billions through pharmaceutical companies that don’t want any safety measures slowing down their profit model.

That should scare you more than a virus that has almost no chance of killing you. If that’s not enough, remember when the Left opposed the right to try legislation? Now they oppose the right not to try.

If you’re not suspicious, you should be.

Big Tech Announces Climate Change “Misinformation” to be the Next Censorship Target

After “tackling” — some say disastrously for online speech — the topics of US elections and Covid by promoting content that is considered “authoritative” and suppressing, to various degrees, everything else, Facebook, Twitter, and Google are further narrowing the space for their users’ free expression.

These enormous digital squares, the social platforms-turned-approved speech enforcers will now add climate change to the list of issues discussions about which are strictly controlled and censored, when information users post or share clashes with the giants’ idea of what’s true and what’s false.

Bitcoin Community Campaigns to Get Core Developer Luke Dashjr Back on Twitter After Ban for Vaccine Statement

A prominent Bitcoin (and Linux) developer, Luke Dashjr, has been suspended permanently from Twitter, the Bitcoin Meme Hub account has announced, urging its followers to support him by endorsing a gist (a post on GitHub’s pastebin service), and at the same asking Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to “help and look into this.”

Dashjr’s “Twitter crime” that sent him to “Twitter jail” doesn’t have directly to do with his professional activities, but with his personal convictions.

According to the GitHub gist, the tweet that was his undoing on Dorsey’s platform said that if anybody tried to force him or his family to in the meanwhile receive the vaccine, he would respond “with appropriate force.”

Facebook has announced that they are ending their use of facial recognition technology on Tuesday.

According to Reuters, Facebook cited their concerns over how this technology is being used as justification for this decision. Previously, Facebook used facial technology to identify users in photos.

“Regulators are still in the process of providing a clear set of rules governing its use,” said a top Facebook official.

“Amid this ongoing uncertainty, we believe that limiting the use of facial recognition to a narrow set of use cases is appropriate,” they added.

Judge Rejects Seattle Mom’s Lawsuit Over Son’s CHOP/CHAZ Shooting Death as City Skirts Blame for Protest Zone

A federal judge rejected a lawsuit by the Seattle mother of a 19-year-old man gunned down in an autonomous “no-cop” protest zone dubbed CHOP/CHAZ in the summer of 2020, arguing the city is not responsible for his killing in the six blocks that included an abandoned police precinct.

In formally rejecting the lawsuit Monday, U.S. District Judge John Coughenour ruled that Donnitta Sinclair, the mother of Horace Lorenzo Anderson, could not prove that the city’s actions, which included abandoning the East Precinct during violent demonstrations over the death of George Floyd, directly resulted in her son’s death 12 days later. What was first referred to as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ, was rebranded to the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP, saw violence persist for weeks before Anderson was fatally shot on the outskirts of Cal Anderson Park.

Live: Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Day 1

Welcome back to the launch of our live coverage of the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, beginning today with the start of jury selection. Kyle is charged with a variety of felonies, including first-degree murder, for shooting three men, two fatally, as well as for alleged reckless conduct on the night of August 25, 2020, in riot-torn Kenosha WI.

Today begins the first day of the substantive trial, with the selection of a 20 person jury having been completed yesterday, and in a single day! You can see our analysis of the surprisingly speedy jury selection process in yesterday’s post, here: Kyle Rittenhouse Jury Selected — Trial Begins Tuesday. A detailing of the criminal charges and my plain English analysis of them can be found in last Sunday’s post: Rittenhouse Trial: What to Expect As Trial Starts Monday.

With a jury seated, we expect today’s court proceedings to start out with the party’s opening statements—first, as usual, the opening statement of the state, followed by the opening statement of the defense. In each case, the two sides will be laying out for the jury their own view of what transpired on the night of August 25, 2020, what drove Kyle Rittenhouse to shoot three men and otherwise conduct himself as he did that evening, and what each side intends to prove or disprove beyond a reasonable doubt (or, for the defense, show that the state cannot prove or disprove beyond a reasonable doubt) over the course of the trial.

NYC Mayoral Election: Democrat Eric Adams Soundly Defeats Republican Curtis Sliwa

Democratic candidate Eric Adams won New York City’s mayoral election on Tuesday night, soundly defeating Republican challenger and “Guardian Angels” founder Curtis Sliwa in a race to determine who will lead the nation’s most populous city.

Adams, the current Brooklyn borough president, was overwhelmingly favored to win the election since defeating 12 other Democratic candidates in a primary election over the summer. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by approximately seven-to-one in New York City.

A former police captain, Adams will become the second Black mayor in New York City’s history. He has pledged to crack down on violent crime while overhauling law enforcement tactics, though he has resisted calls from some city Democrats to “defund” the police.

Yonkers Police Investigate Fatal Stabbings of Mother, Daughter on Shipman Avenue

YONKERS — Police are investigating a double homicide after finding two women stabbed to death in their home Monday.

Yonkers police discovered the bodies of a 70-year-old woman and her 38-year-old daughter after responding to a call from a concerned friend who hadn’t heard from one of the women.

Mueller said the police believe the perpetrator knew the women and Spano emphasized the killings were isolated incidents.

Mueller said one of the women worked for Yonkers Public Schools. He said the investigation is in the early stages but shared the following details:

  • The women were both found inside the home in separate rooms
  • The police believe the daughter was last seen alive Friday
  • Police found a broken window in the back of the house but it’s not clear if it was from a forced entry

Archbishop Viganò Writes Stunning Letter on Vaccine Program

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has written a stunning letter to America’s bishops in which he makes several astounding claims about COVID-19 jabs and the Church’s role in promoting vaccines.

Viganò asserts that vaccines normally go through years of rigorous testing, and that the lack of such a process in the case of COVID-19 jabs represents public health authorities conducting “experimentation on the entire world population.”

The Archbishop referenced drug treatments that have proven effective in fighting COVID without the risks of vaccines, noting that such drugs have been discredited by global health bodies and the media.

EU’s Green Deal Could Become European Green Suicide, Says Czech PM Babis at Glasgow Climate Summit

At the UN climate change conference COP26 in Glasgow on Monday, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis criticized the European climate package known as the Fit for 55. According to him, without a rational approach, the Green Deal could become the “European green suicide.”

Babis stressed that it is first necessary to decide whether the goals are not too ambitious, how much money the transformation will cost, and whether Europe and individual states can afford it.

In recent years, according to the Czech prime minister, environmental protection has been replaced with the fight against climate change. He noted that the European Union wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, but the Fit for 55 package goes much further than what the Union agreed on. He criticized, for example, that the European Commission proposes that new cars in the EU should not be able to produce any carbon dioxide emissions from 2035 onwards.

Hungary, Czechia, Poland and Slovakia Will Block EU Green Deal on Taxes, Homes and Cars

Hungary’s conservative government is sticking to its guns in its dispute with the European Union concerning Brussels’ plans to tax households and raise energy prices in order to pay for their ambitious Green Deal. During a press conference, Gergely Gulyas, the minister in charge of the Hungarian prime minister’s office, told reporters, that Brussels would tax people’s homes and cars to pay for what he says are misconceived climate protection projects. He indicated that the Hungarian government is committed to defending tits policy of reducing household bills — not raising them.

The minister said that there is an ongoing household expense crisis all over Europe due to “incredibly high, skyrocketing” energy costs. The main reason for this, in addition to world market prices, is that the European Commission is pursuing an ill-conceived energy policy. According to the minister, there is an open attack on the Hungarian government’s household bill reduction project, as a result of which Hungarian energy prices are one of the lowest among EU member states. He said that the Visegrad Four countries plan to veto these attempts, and would reject the proposals from Brussels.

Italy: Women’s Insecurity Leads to Poorer Careers Than Men

But situation will change with ‘aware’ young men says historian

There is hope for women, however, he said — with men’s help.

“Emerging form this trend may only be a question of time,” said Barbero.

“It should be enough to properly train some generations of young men who are more aware, and the situation will change”.

Bulgaria Sends Troops to Border to Halt Migrants From Turkey

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Bulgaria is deploying 350 troops and 40 army vehicles along its southern border with Turkey to help border police deal with a growing migrant influx, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

The troops will conduct joint patrols along the 259-kilometer (161-mile) border with Turkey. They also will repair the partly damaged barbed-wire fence that was erected five years ago to prevent migrants, mainly from Syria, from illegally crossing the border from Turkey into the European Union nation.

This year has seen a threefold increase of the number of detained illegal migrants compared to the same period last year, according to Interior Ministry data.

The Balkan country of 7 million is located on a major route for migrants from the Mideast and Afghanistan to Europe. Only a small number of them plan to stay in the EUs poorest member, using Bulgaria instead as a transit corridor on their way westward.

He did not spare the centuries-old crucifix either that was taken down by local churchgoers during World War II to protect it from allied bombing raids. During the incident, the Afghan smashed the wooden statue of Christ attached to the cross, ripping off its hands and legs.

A package on the head of an American sailor from the residents of Istanbul

Today, November 4, in Istanbul, during a demonstration of city residents who came to express their disagreement with the fact that the US military arrived in their country, an incident occurred, culminating in the fact that a package was put on the head of an American sailor.
The incident occurred while an American sailor disembarked from the USS Mount Whitney to cruise around Istanbul. At this time, a group of Turkish men approached him. One of them, in English, turned to the military with a demand to leave the city. At the same time, he called him and the military aggressors who arrived with him.
At first, the sailor did not react in any way to the words of the Protestant. When the men came closer to him, he made an unsuccessful attempt to escape.

As a result, one of the Turkish men, in whose hands was a white bag, put this bag on the American sailor’s head. After that, to the shouts of the audience: “Americans, go home,” the sailor fled. Later, the men who participated in the incident explained that in this way they wanted to express their negative attitude towards the fact that the US military is on the territory of their country.

People with a QR code move around the mall without obstacles. As for the unvaccinated, they can only walk within the anti-covid path that leads to the grocery store.
