According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Townley and a 30-year-old woman were shot just before 9 p.m. Townley died after he was transported to a local hospital while the woman’s injuries are described by police as “serious.”

A curious scene unfolded on Saturday after the NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Talladega concluded. An NBC reporter interviewed the winner of the race, Brandon Brown, about his victory.

Texas AG Fights Against San Antonio School District in Court Over Its Vaccine Mandate for Employees
On Wednesday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that he is continuing to fight in court with the San Antonio Independent School District over their vaccine mandate for employees.
“The governor has made it very clear — the way through the pandemic is through personal responsibility, not government mandates.” Attorney General Paxton said in a statement. “To all of the employees in San Antonio ISD who have decided not to get a COVID-19 vaccine at this time: We are fighting for your rights, and we fully expect the courts to stop the district’s unlawful mandate.”

Trump Wants Pulitzers Awarded for Russia Collusion Reporting Revoked
Former President Donald Trump called on the Pulitzer Board to rescind the prizes given to the New York Times and the Washington Post for their coverage of the Russian collusion story, saying they were based on “false reporting.”
Trump, in a statement released Sunday morning about the letter addressed to Bud Kliment, the interim administrator of the awards, said he wants the board to rescind the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting presented to the New York Times and the Washington Post because the reporting was based on “false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump Campaign.”

DETROIT, Michigan (LifeSiteNews) — Detroit’s ABC station asked Facebook users to share stories of unvaccinated people who have passed away from COVID-19, only to be flooded with stories of death and injury as a result of the shots.

YouTube Suspends RSBN the Same Day a Previous Ban Expired
YouTube issued a notice to Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) on Friday, informing them that their “content was removed due to a violation of our Community Guidelines. Your channel now has 1 strike. You won’t be able to do things like upload, post, or live stream for 1 week.”
The censorship has restricted them from uploading or live streaming during the strike period.

French Court to Hear Case of Sexual Abuse of a Goat
A Sri Lankan man faces trial in December after allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a goat at least three times at an animal park in Tours, France.
The 53-year-old is believed to have first violated the animal in 2018, but workers did not alert police to any suspected criminal activity until January 2021 when they noticed one of the goats has irritated genitals.

UK Ministry of Defense Proposal Calls for More Social Media Surveillance
The UK’s Ministry of Defence has published a data strategy promoting the idea of the British armed forces conducting social media surveillance on behalf of local governments.
The document, which is about the armed forces making better use of their existing data, says that the military should conduct “automated scanning of social media platforms” to identify any “change in population sentiment.”
“Decision making is enhanced by local surveillance of groups of interest,” the MoD wrote in the document. The MoD believes that spying on the social media rants of angered citizens can help “local authorities” to come up with “heightened readiness measures.”

Man Charged With Murdering His Mother Because She Converted to Christianity
A 27-year-old man from northern Israel was charged on Monday with murdering his mother and hiding her body last month, after she converted from Islam to Orthodox Christianity.
According to the charge sheet, Rasha Muklasha, 46, left her husband and severed ties with her five children — including the suspect, Muad Hib — in 2006. She then moved from the town of Zarzir to Nof HaGalil and converted to Christianity.
Recently, she resumed contact with her children following the death of her ex-husband. Prosecutors allege that her conversion, which greatly angered Hib, was the motive for the murder.

Pakistan: Prominent Sikh Doctor Shot Dead; ISIS-K Claims Responsibility
A prominent member of the Sikh community in Pakistan, Sardar Satnam Singh, was shot dead on Thursday, September 30 in Pakistan’s Peshawar. A resident of Hasanbdal, Singh was a renowned hakeem (doctor of traditional medicine) and was killed at his clinic “Dharandar Dawakhana” located in the Charadda Road area. The 45-year-old was attacked by unidentified assailants who barged into his apothecary and pumped four bullets into his body. Despite being rushed to the nearby Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, Singh could not be saved; reportedly, he had died instantly after being shot at his clinic. SPD Leader Scholz Advocates Faster Visa Processing for Refugees’ Family Reunifications
SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz has spoken out in favor of faster visa processing for family reunification for recognized refugees. Structures would have to be created “to be able to solve this task quickly,” he told the magazine Panorama on Thursday.
Accelerating this process would be “a major modernization that we need in Germany, but which also contributes directly to the fact that we can also fulfill humanitarian obligations that we are happy to accept,” the Social Democrat emphasized.

The Polish government has sent at least 31,000 text messages to migrants near its border with Belarus telling them to go back to Minsk, stating that the Polish border is closed.
The text messages say in English, “The Polish border is closed. The Belarusian authorities lied to you. Go back to Minsk!” and give links to a site in English, French, Arabic, Russian, and Polish stating that migrants who cross the border illegally are subject to imprisonment.

UK: Senior Tory Criticises Haulier Industry ‘Addicted’ To Cheap, Foreign Labour
Former Conservative Party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith has accused the haulier industry of being “addicted” to cheap, foreign labour and resisting calls for years to train British drivers and improve working conditions and pay.
In response to the so-called fuel crisis, the government last week announced plans for a temporary emergency visa scheme for thousands of European drivers, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggesting on Saturday that he does not rule out issuing more visas.

Transgender Weightlifter Laurel Hubbard Named Sportswoman of the Year
Transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard was recently dubbed University of Otago sportswoman of the year during the Blues awards, according to New Zealand’s Otago Daily Times.
Hubbard was reportedly the first transgender winner of the award during the event’s more than 100 year history.
