Fed Vice Chair Clarida Traded Millions One Day Before Powell Emergency Pandemic Statement

Earlier this week, with Fed hawks suddenly dropping like flies following the resignations of Boston and Dallas Fed presidents, Rosengren and Kaplan, amid a public outcry over their recently-revealed daytrading activities which benefited them as a direct result of monetary policy decisions they were explicitly and directly involved in, we joked that if the Fed wants to get rid of all the hawks, they just need to leak the trading records of Kansas City Fed president Esther George, widely viewed as the most vocal hawk among all FOMC members.

Well, it may not be George (yet) but overnight the government ethics office published forms which showed that none other than the (centrist) Fed Vice Chair Richard Clarida may be the next to “retire” (perhaps he too is on a kidney transplant list) following the revelation that he was trading in and out of millions in securities on February 27, 2020 just one day before Fed Chair Powell issued an (extremely bullish) emergency statement hinting at possible policy action as the pandemic worsened.

Key Inflation Gauge Watched by the Federal Reserve Hits Another 30-Year High

Inflation ran at a fresh 30-year high in August as supply chain disruptions and extraordinarily high demand fueled ongoing price pressures, the Commerce Department reported Friday.

The core personal consumption expenditures price index, which excludes food and energy costs and is the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, increased 0.3% for the month and was up 3.6% from a year ago. The monthly gain was slightly higher than the 0.2% Dow Jones estimate and the annual forecast of 3.5%.

That’s the highest since May 1991 and reflective of inflationary pressures that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said earlier this week he finds “frustrating.”

Venezuela Subtracts Six Zeros From Currency, Second Overhaul in Three Years

CARACAS, Oct 1 (Reuters) — Venezuela on Friday launched its second monetary overhaul in three years by cutting six zeros from the bolivar currency in response to hyperinflation, simplifying accounting but doing little to ease the South American nation’s economic crisis.

The plan seeks to makes accounting more straightforward at businesses and banks, where systems can no longer handle the huge figures. Venezuela’s year-on-year inflation is 1,743%, according to the Venezuelan Finance Observatory. A minimum wage salary is barely $2.50 per month.

Billionaire George Soros Donates $500,000 to Campaign Against Austin Police Staffing Proposition

The billionaire benefactor of progressive causes across the country, George Soros, has waded into the political fight over Austin’s police staffing — pumping a half-million dollars into a campaign to defeat Proposition A.

Among other reforms, Proposition A would establish a minimum staffing level for the Austin Police Department (APD) of 2 officers per 1,000. Earlier this summer, APD was floating around 1.2 officers per 1,000 residents. From current staffing levels, it’d require the hiring of roughly 500 officers.

APD is suffering not only from a dearth in approved positions compared with its staffing level two years ago, but also from rampant attrition within its ranks, averaging 15 to 20 departures per month this year.

According to the Austin American-Statesman’s Ryan Autullo, the Open Society Policy Center, one of Soros’ advocacy arms, gave $500,000 to Equity Austin which opposes Proposition A.

Court Rules Twitter, Facebook, And Google Share No Responsibility for Pulse Nightclub Shooting

Google, Twitter, and Facebook are not accountable to the victims of the shooting at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub since it was not an act of international terrorism, a court has decided. The tech companies were judged not liable for involvement in the mass shooting on June 12, 2016, even though they were instrumental in providing the shooter with access to ISIS propaganda online, which was later determined to have motivated the act.

A three-judge panel dismissed the case filed by victims and families of victims in the shooting that claimed the lives of 49 people and injured scores more at the gay club. There were two arguments raised by the plaintiffs as the federal appeals court upheld the ruling.

Federal Judge Rules Washington, DC is Liable for Post-Heller Wrongful Firearm Arrests

Dick Heller is probably laughing to himself today. Late yesterday, US District Judge Royce Lamberth ruled that Washington, D.C. is liable for six wrongful arrests made in the years after the D.C. vs Heller Supreme Court decision was handed down. The individuals in question were arrested between 2012 and 2014 for carrying handguns in public.

The city, which had the strictest gun control laws in the nation, didn’t like the Court’s ruling and enacted new restrictions on carrying firearms in the capital.

Inspector General Audit Finds “Widespread” Problems With FBI’s FISA Applications

Authored by Jack Phillips and Ken Silva via The Epoch Times

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz issued a report (pdf) on Sept. 30 on the FBI’s applications to surveil U.S. citizens, finding “widespread” failure that “raises serious questions” and criticizing agents for not fixing flaws spotted in previous audits.

The inspector general (IG) reviewed about 7,000 applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants—the same used to surveil former Trump campaign aide Carter Page in 2016—and found that the agency had failed to follow key rules, the Woods Procedures, in the program. In December 2019 review, Horowitz discovered 17 significant errors and omissions in the FISA surveillance application targeting Page.

The most recent audit of the agency’s Woods Procedures—rules that the FBI follows to ensure that FISA applications are “scrupulously accurate”—found sweeping “non-compliance” that “raises serious questions about the adequacy and execution of the supervisory review process in place at the time of the applications we reviewed,” Horowitz said, stating that the FBI’s quality-control officials apparently missed these problems.

Portland’s Cultural Council Will Not Replace Statues of Teddy Roosevelt, Lincoln Knocked Down by Antifa

Last October, Portland’s Antifa announced what they called an Indigenous People’s Day of Rage (in place of Columbus Day). The day of rage was intended from the start to include “direct action” which is anarchist code for smashing things. The group was true to its word. They tore down statues of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, smashed the entrance to the Oregon Historical Society, and damaged a bunch of retail outlets. They even smashed windows at a Portland State University police office. Police declared it a riot.

But for all the destruction, there was very little video of the mob in action. That’s because the organizers were very explicit about everyone turning off their phones and not recording the acts of vandalism.

Italy: Anti-Green Pass Cop Faces Disciplinary Procedure

Schilirò said vaccine passport goes against Constitution at demo

(ANSA) — ROME, SEP 27 — A senior Italian policewoman is facing disciplinary procedures after taking part in a demonstration in Rome’s Piazza San Giovanni square on Saturday against the government’s Green Pass vaccine passport.

Nunzia Alessandra Schilirò said she took part in the demo as “a free citizen” and addressed the crowd, saying the Green Pass contravened the Italian Constitution.

The Green Pass, which shows that a person is vaccinated for COVID-19, has recovered from the coronavirus or has tested negative in the last few days, is obligatory to do many things in Italy, including to go to work as of October 15.

Saturday’s demo was only the latest in a series against the Green Pass to have taken place in many parts of Italy.

Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese said Sunday that Schilirò’s comments were “extremely serious” adding that she was following the case personally with Police Chief Lamberto Giannini.

Schilirò said that “I will keep going, with or with a uniform, for the love of my country”. (ANSA).

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières/MSF) has stated that the island cannot deal with the thousands of migrants arriving by sea and claims it has assisted around 11,000 new arrivals in just two months.

Poland: President Prolongs Emergency Laws on Belarus Border

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday signed an act prolonging a state of emergency in several areas near Poland’s border with Belarus for another 60 days, the president’s office announced.

On September 2, Poland introduced emergency laws in areas close to its border with Belarus in the face of repeated attempts by migrants, mostly from the Middle East, to enter its territory from the neighbouring country.

Poland has accused Belarus’s Alexander Lukashenko regime of facilitating the crossing attempts in an attempt to destabilise the country and the EU.

The act extending the emergency laws was voted through the Polish Sejm (lower house) on Thursday.

  1. Meanwhile, in our own country, the formerly great USA- the latest batch of verminous savages from Afghanistan are being allowed to just walk off the bases where they had been deposited after the fall of that country.

For some barbarians, the best 4 star treatment is simply not enough. They obviously need to find that perfect accommodation for their special cultural needs.

Our Demo-Marxist rulers assure us that nothing could possibly go wrong.

  2. In NYC Vaxxtards won’t go out in public let alone eat at restaurants. The UnVaxxed want to dine at restaurants and enjoy gatherings but are prohibited. Not sure how the hell NYC
restaurant owners will stay in business.

    • Restaurant owners are not doing well at all in NYC.

They really don’t want to have to be cops on top of everything else.

Estimates are that business is down 40-60%. In Westchester county, the suburbs, venues are trying to push masks and vax papers and it isn’t working. People just go somewhere else.

      • I’ve quite enjoyed the scenes from France and Canada where citizens show up with their own food and set up picnics on the sidewalk adjacent to the cafes and restaurants.

This is the kind of peaceful non-compliance that drives the evil controllers insane.
