IMF Lowers Growth Outlook for Czech Economy to 3.8 Percent

The Czech economy will grow by 3.8 percent this year and speed up to 4.5 percent next year, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its autumn outlook. It thus worsened its estimate from the spring forecast, when it expected the Czech gross domestic product (GDP) to increase to 4.2 percent this year.

The Monetary Fund sees next year more optimistically in the case of both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the spring, it predicted the Czech Republic to grow by 4.3 percent and Slovakia by 4.4 percent. Now, in the case of Slovakia, it is expecting an economic increase of 5.2 percent next year.

AG Garland’s Son-in-Law’s Education Company Supports Critical Race Theory

The education company co-founded by Attorney General Merrick Garland’s son-in-law is facing fresh scrutiny after it was revealed the company supports critical race theory curricula while servicing 23,000 schools in the nation, costing tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars — while Garland cracks down on opposition to the ideology.

Garland has been under fire this past week for his Oct. 4 memo in which he tasked the FBI with investigating an alleged recent spike in violence against school staff amid backlash to CRT being injected into school curricula, though Garland’s memo did not specify what those acts were.

Babbitt Shooting Internal Police Docs Reveal ‘No Good Reason for Shooting, ‘ According to Judicial Watch

More than 500 pages of internal documents from DC Metropolitan Police concerning the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on Jan. 6 reveal witness accounts stating she was not holding a weapon at the time of her death and how “upset” the officer was after shooting her.

“These previously secret records show there was no good reason to shoot and kill Ashli Babbitt,” stated Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which obtained the documents through a May 2021 FOIA lawsuit. “The Biden-Garland Justice Department and the Pelosi Congress have much to answer for the over the mishandling and cover-up of this scandalous killing of an American citizen by the U.S. Capitol Police.”

Chaos in Texas as Employees Fired for Refusing to Get Vaxxed Demand Their Jobs Back

Things are getting very confusing in Texas.

Shortly after governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order banning the vaccine mandates by any employer, which in turn was followed by several prominent Texas corporations — such as IBM, American Air, Southwest — saying they would snub the EO and back Biden on shots, we’ve reach a point where some employers side with the governor, others side with the president, meanwhile employees have no idea what they have to do (or not do), while yet another group of (former) employees that was fired for refusing to comply with the mandates is now trying to get their jobs back.

As Houston Public Media reports, more than 150 former employees of Houston Methodist Hospital, who either quit or were fired in June over a vaccine mandate policy will demand to be rehired after Gov. Abbott issued an executive order on Monday banning any entity in the state from implementing such mandates, according to a lawyer representing the former employees.

Fall River City Councilor Takes to Facebook to Protest Gov. Baker’s COVID Vaccine Mandate

FALL RIVER — City Councilor Christopher Peckham took to Facebook last week to protest Gov. Charlie Baker’s executive order requiring state workers, including prison personnel, to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or face termination.

Peckham is employed by the Massachusetts Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at the Old Colony Correctional Center in Bridgewater.

In his post, Peckham said he was not vaccinated and was preparing to be terminated from his job, as Baker’s mandate has an Oct. 17 deadline.

“I’ll be jobless in a couple of weeks due to Governor Bakers executive order. Literally vaccination or termination for all state employees. I know this may sound a little odd being that I’m an elected official, but DO NOT LET THE GOVERNMENT FORCE ANYTHING UPON YOU THATS UNCONSTITUTIONAL! I will stand and land on my feet, I usually do. I will find a way to provide for my family without being a state employee,” wrote Peckham.

He followed the posting with a graphic photo with the saying “I’D RATHER DIE ON MY FEET THAN LIVE ON MY KNEES.”

Florida School Boards Association Denounces National Group’s Call for Federal Involvement in Parent Protests

The Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) is pushing back against a call from its national counterpart for the federal government step in and assist with handling threats to school officials.

While the FSBA says it has “great concern” for the safety of board members and school officials following recent reports of threats and protests, it does not fully agree with a letter sent by the National School Boards Association to President Joe Biden’s administration, which urged the federal government to begin “monitoring the threat levels” against school officials and claimed that “public schools and its education leaders are under an immediate threat.”

In a letter sent by the state association to leaders of the NSBA on Monday, the FSBA claimed the national organization made its request to the federal government “without consultation of our association or your own board of directors” and called for “a review of NSBA leadership.”

Protest Held Outside Cherry Point Against Vaccine Mandates

CHERRY POINT, N.C. (WITN) — A protest against vaccine mandates is happening outside of the main gate at Cherry Point.

Federal workers who say they should have a choice on whether or not they get vaccinated gathered Wednesday morning as early as 6:30 a.m. WITN’s Stacia Strong says there were about a handful of workers at the protest.

The workers signed a petition and sent it to Congressman Greg Murphy. The petition says the mandate “severely jeopardized” military members’ right to personal autonomy, bodily integrity, and the right to refuse medical treatment. It goes on to say, “this is an unprecedented government overreach that cannot be tolerated” and that it adds to an already high-stress workforce.

Earlier this year, the Pentagon issued a vaccine mandate for military members. Hundreds of thousands of military members remain unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated as the deadlines approach.

Righteousness + Force in America: The Trap of Righteous Activism Coupled With State Power

There are two ways of getting things done: persuasion or coercion. You either convince someone of the value of your ideas or you hold a (literal or metaphorical) gun to their head. The latter has been the norm throughout human history. Most of what we value about the contemporary West is a shift toward the former occurring over the last 250 years or so.

However, there’s an important difference between the despotisms of old and coercive governments in the modern era: modern-day tyrants frame themselves as the righteous side in any conflict.

Woman Rocked Awake by Meteorite Chunk Crashing Into Her Bedroom

Ruth Hamilton says space rock came through the ceiling, landing on her pillow at her Golden, B.C., home

Ruth Hamilton had been asleep for hours in her Golden, B.C., home when she awoke to the sound of her dog barking, giving her a moment’s notice before a rock from outer space hurtled into her bedroom.

German Court Rules YouTube’s Censorship of COVID Measures Criticism Was “Unlawful”

A group of German artists skeptical and critical of the government response to the COVID pandemic and promoting conversations around the topic, active online under the #allesaufdentisch (literally, “everything on the table”) hashtag, sued YouTube for deleting their videos — and won in court.

The two videos that got removed by the Google-owned giant consisted of interviews artists had with scientists and they did not take the censorship lying down but opted for legal action against YouTube.

The Cologne Regional Court has now found that the removals were illegal, ruling in the plaintiff’s favor with two preliminary injunctions, ordering YouTube to restore the videos.

Germany: Cancel Wagner: Munich May Rebrand Street Named After Composer Due to ‘Troubled Past’

German composers Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss are among 45 historical figures whose names could be removed from city streets in Munich due to their political beliefs.

Munich has been looking at streets that are named after figures linked to Nazism, slavery, or colonialism since 2016, and have identified 45 individuals out of 372 who could see their names removed from streets across the city, or at least will be subject to further debate on their futures. Another 327 are considered “problematic”, whereby the signs bearing their names will at least “need contextualization”.

Greece Proposes Anti “Fake News” Law in a New Bid to Kill Free Speech

While many journalists and activists in countries such as the United States, Canada, UK, and many parts of Europe are calling for censorship of “misinformation,” there are at least some press groups out there that understand what a significant threat to free speech this is.

The members of the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR), including Article 19 and the International Press Institute, have called on the Greek government to withdraw a proposed amendment to the “fake news” legislation. The new proposal would introduce jail time and fines for journalists accused of publishing “false news.”

The amendments to Article 191 of the Civil Code have been proposed by Greece’s Ministry of Justice. The proposals would introduce harsher penalties for people found guilty of publishing or spreading “false news that is capable of causing concern or fear to the public or undermining public confidence in the national economy, the country’s defense capacity or public health.” The owner or publisher of a media outlet responsible for the “false news” would also be punished.

Hungary Has 11th Fastest Internet Speed in the World

According to the latest data of the Speedtest Global Index, Hungary ranks 11th in terms of fixed internet speed, while we are 38th in the case of mobile internet.

The speed of the internet depends on where we are and what device we use, but it can be said that there are significant differences in the speed of the internet between countries. The Speedtest Global Index ranked countries according to internet speed, where Hungary ranks 11th in the case of the fixed broadband, just behind France. Data from hundreds of millions of people from more than 190 countries were used to compile the index.

The list is led by Asia’s high-tech hub, Singapore, where the average broadband speed is 262.2 Mbps, more than double the global average. It may come as a surprise that Romania ranks sixth in the global rankings, while Germany ranks only 37th.

Italy: Letta Says PD Heading for Close, Organic Alliance With M5S

AS shown by elections and events of last few hours

(ANSA) — ROME, OCT 11 — Centre-left Democratic Party (PD) leader Enrico Letta said Monday that electoral success in many cities last week and a joint condemnation of Saturday’s far-right raid on a leftwing union HQ in Rome meant the PD was heading for a “very close and organic” alliance with the formerly anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) ahead of general elections in 2023.

“These elections and also the events of the past few hours have shown that we agree with the M5S”, he said.

“We are different, but we agree and we are going towards a very close and organic alliance”, he told La Stampa daily.

The PD won elections in Bologna and Naples with the M5S, won Milan by itself, and is in a run-off where M5S voters are expected to migrate to it in Rome and Turin, Italy’s five biggest cities.

Kongsberg: Five Dead in Norway Bow and Arrow Attack

Five people have been killed and two more injured in Norway after a man used a bow and arrow to attack them.

Police first received word of an attack in the town of Kongsberg, south-west of the capital Oslo, at around 18:13 local time (16:13 GMT).

A Danish man aged 37 has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the attack.

Police believe he acted alone, and will investigate whether it was an act of terrorism, a spokesman said.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg said reports of the incident had been “horrifying”.

“I understand that many people are afraid, but it’s important to emphasise that the police are now in control,” she told a news conference, as quoted by Reuters news agency.

The attacker is said to have launched the assault inside a Coop Extra supermarket on Kongsberg’s west side. One of those injured was an off-duty police officer who was in the shop at the time.

A spokesperson for the chain later confirmed a “serious incident” at their store, adding that none of their staff were physically injured.

There was reportedly a confrontation between the attacker and the police before he was eventually detained at 18:47 local time…

NATO Seems Less Interested in Europe Says Draghi

EU defence would reinforce NATO says Italy PM

(ANSA) — ROME, OCT 6 — The NATO pullout from Afghanistan and the submarine deal between the US, UK and Australia appear to indicate that the Atlantic Alliance is less interested in Europe and has shifted its attention to other parts of the world, Premier Mario Draghi said after an EU-Western Balkans summit in Slovenia Wednesday.

“The withdrawal from Afghanistan, in the way it was decided, communicated and executed, and the change of mind concerning the contract between Australia and France to supply nuclear submarines, discarded for submarines produced by America — and here I mean not only the substance, but also the way in which it was communicated — are two very strong messages, which tell us that NATO seems less interested in Europe from a geopolitical standpoint and in Europe’s zones of interest, and has shifted its areas of interest to other parts of the world,” he said.

Draghi also said that common EU defence would not weaken NATO, as asserted by Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, but would be complementary to it and would “reinforce NATO and Europe”.

Poland: Communist Past: Lech Walesa Refuses to Comply With Prosecutor’s Office Requests

The Chief Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation announced that former president and Solidarity leader Lech Walesa has been called upon three times by the prosecutor’s office to explain his testimonies in an investigation concerning his work as part of Polish communist special services. Prague Mayor Unveils Havel’s Corner in Brussels

Havel’s corner, unveiled in Brussels on Tuesday, should be reminiscent of the legacy of the former Czech president and writer Vaclav Havel and at the same time entice people to sit and talk. Two chairs and a round table, through which a tree grows, stand in the park in sight of the European Parliament. According to the Czech Ambassador to Belgium, Pavel Klucký, the space can serve, for example, as a meeting point for citizens and politicians.

“We want it to become a real place where various ideas, often controversial, are expressed,” Klucký told reporters, according to whom the space, despite its small size, could become the Brussels form of London’s Hyde Park. Since the place is on the road leading to the meeting place of seven hundred politicians, it could serve the purpose well.

It is an app and reporting system that would enable women to enter their home, office, and other regularly visited addresses. In case a user travels, they would be required to enter the details of their trip, and would be tracked and monitored through GPS.

12 thoughts on “Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/13/2021

  1. “ A Danish man who killed five and injured two in a bow-and-arrow attack in the Norwegian town of Kongsberg on Wednesday had converted to Islam and was known to police, according to the country’s law enforcement.” The west end of Europe is slowly but surely coming undone. So sad to observe populations go full stupid and so willingly embrace colon-cancer.

  2. It is permanent terror war from Muslims within non Muslim societies. No truces. No ends. The Mien Muz call to slaughter rings out from London to Cologne. It seems the second hand feminized citizenry are already too drained to resist. This is beginning very madly.

    • Incorrect statement..We in CEE and EE countries ( accept Russia)
Have no single terror act or dead reported..No single car burn on the street, no bombs, no criminal gangs..On the top of that we have lowest crime acclivities and related crimes de to it in the World..
      I/m wandering why ?
Cultural, society superiority over your ” western” perhaps ? Better Civilization model than yours ? better morall and ethicall quality people than ” westerners” ?
more peaceful and cultivated ? hmmmmm

  3. in the meantime, several major news outlets here in Germany confirmed that the perp is a ” danish” convert to islam , and, would you believe it, formely known by law enforcement. The whole nine yards.

    • And His name is Muhammad!!, how stupid and naive can people be , Muslim with Danish citizenship, and they don’t put His name on TV news , nothing, welcome to Islamization of Europe,

    • How much longer do you think until they implement the Final, Final Solution to rid the Fatherland of undesirables?

For their own good, of course.

  4. Muslims are timed to go off. How could it be any other way. We had better secure the homeland before it is secured from us.
