Jobs Report Disappoints — Only 235,000 Positions Added vs. Expectations of 720,000

Job creation for August was a huge disappointment, with the economy adding just 235,000 positions, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 720,000 new hires.

The unemployment rate dropped to 5.2% from 5.4%, in line with estimates.

24 Year Old Arrested for Fake Vaccine Card Claiming Jab From “Maderna”

If you’re going to try and fake your vaccine card, it’s probably best to learn the basics of spelling “Moderna” first.

Therein “lied” the problem when one 24 year old traveler from Illinois, Chloe Mrozak, tried to pass off a fake vaccination card, according to Law & Crime. Airport screeners felt the woman’s card looked “questionable” and investigated it further.

Putting aside the fact that the entire process of “questioning” someone’s “vaccine card” is ridiculous in and of itself, an investigating agent was sent an email with the subject line “Fwd: Maderna/possible fraudulent card”.

ACLU: Forced Vaccine Passports is a Win for Civil Liberties

Forcing people to use vaccine passports to access everyday freedoms is apparently protecting their civil liberties, according to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The organization’s opinion was, for obvious reasons, criticized as part of its continued recent decline into politicalization and moving away from values it once supported.

The ACLU expressed its controversial opinion in an op-ed in The New York Times. According to the civil liberties groups, there is permissibility for COVID-19 vaccine passport mandates because: “The disease is highly transmissible, serious and often lethal; the vaccines are safe and effective; and crucially there is no equally effective alternative available to protect public health.”

Alexandria City Public Schools: ‘White Teachers Need Anti-Racist Therapy’

Virginia’s Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is aspiring to pursue a no-holds-barred form of Critical Race Theory indoctrination scheme, telling its teaching staff to read the widely discredited New York Times “1619 Project,” and endorsing the message “white teachers need anti-racist therapy.”

“Going forward, racial equity will be at the center of every decision that the school division will make,” the “Equity for All” Strategic Plan page reads. To that end, it appears, ACPS has created pages both for parents and teachers to provide the resources to properly indoctrinate children with the racist ideology — one, as Breitbart News has reported, that tells black students that their lives do not matter and they are inherently “oppressed,” while simultaneously telling white students that they must either act or be deemed responsible for the purported “oppression.”

Apple Partners With the TSA, Starting With Arizona and Georgia

Apple looks like it is setting itself up for another furious debate around its services that already has some privacy-minded observers up in arms: this time, it’s digitizing driver’s licenses in the US, and partnering with states and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

After spending years trying to convince people it was better than its Big Tech counterparts (essentially, because it makes its money on overpriced hardware rather than selling/sharing personal data via an ad-based model) — Apple is now signaling that one particular marketing point it has pushed for a long time might actually be dying.

Brooklyn Federal Jury Convicts U.S. Citizen of Attempting to Provide Material Support to ISIS

Earlier today, a federal jury in Brooklyn convicted Bernard Raymond Augustine, a U.S. citizen and California resident, of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (“ISIS” or “the Islamic State”). The verdict followed a one-week trial before U.S. District Judge Sterling Johnson Jr. When sentenced, Augustine faces up to 20 years in prison.

The evidence at trial established that in February 2016, the defendant traveled from San Francisco, California, to Northern Africa, with the goal of joining ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization. In the months leading up to his travel, the defendant watched ISIS propaganda, including videos glorifying ISIS’s violence, such as “The Flames of War.” The defendant conducted internet searches for, among other things, “how to safely join ISIS,” and reviewed websites related to ISIS recruitment practices, including one titled “How does a Westerner join ISIS? Is there a recruitment or application process?”

Augustine also posted numerous statements in support of ISIS and violent extremism on the internet. He posted statements such as “the Islamic State is the true Islam,” “Muslims who leave the west . . . answer the call for the struggle, and march until they are victorious or martyred are the true believers,” and the ISIS caliphate “can’t be established and maintained except through the blood of the mujahideen who practice the true belief.”

California Nurse Shortage Reaches “Crisis Level” As Vaccine Mandate Wards Off Travelling Nurses

As America’s hospital beds have again filled with sick COVID patients, nurses and other healthcare workers have been quitting at the fastest rate since the early days of the pandemic, when nurses in some NYC hospitals were using garbage bags instead of PPE.

Across the Internet, on subreddits and in Facebook groups, nurses have gathered to commiserate.

But it’s not just remote areas of Arkansas and Mississippi that are having problems. Local media in California have reported that across the Golden State, low staffing levels have reached a “crisis point”.

According to a story published by a newspaper in Bakersfield, in the past month, no fewer than four emergency room nurses have quit at one Eureka hospital.

Flights Resume, Some Power Restored in New Orleans After Ida

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Commercial flights resumed in New Orleans and power returned to parts of the business district Thursday, four days after Hurricane Ida slammed into the Gulf Coast, but electricity, drinking water and fuel remained scarce across much of a sweltering Louisiana.

Meanwhile, the remnants of the system walloped parts of the Northeast, dumping record-breaking rain in a region that had not expected a serious blow and killing at least 46 people from Maryland to Connecticut. Eleven people in New York City drowned in basement apartments.

New Orleans fared better than many other places because it was protected from catastrophic flooding by the levee system that was revamped after Hurricane Katrina. The power was back on before dawn in some downtown neighborhoods. Utility crews also restored electricity to several hospitals in Jefferson Parish and near Baton Rouge. Some streets were cleared of fallen trees and debris, and a few corner stores reopened.

The city’s main airport reopened to commercial flights for the first time since the hurricane. Delta was the first airline to return, to be followed Friday by United Airlines and later by other carriers, officials said.

Louisiana officials also reported a big drop late Thursday in the number of customers with no running water: 185,000 compared to more than 600,000 the day before.

Still, the overwhelming majority of homes remained dark, and Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said efforts to drain flooded parishes continued.

In seven parishes, at least 95% of customers remained without power Thursday. Only 35,000 of the 405,000 homes and businesses in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish had power Thursday, according to the poweroutage.us website. Statewide, about 900,000 customers were without electricity, down from about 1.1 million at the height of the seventh named storm to hit Louisiana since the summer of 2020.

“This isn’t our first rodeo, but it’s our worst rodeo,” Kirt LeBouef said, wiping away tears as he looked at damage to the Little Eagle restaurant in Golden Meadow, a 75-mile (120 kilometer) drive down a narrow highway from New Orleans toward the Gulf.

LeBouef’s family has owned the crawfish restaurant since 1920.

Edwards said more than 220,000 people already have registered for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and 22,000 have applied for a federal program to place tarps on damaged roofs.

“It really pains me to see that people are hurting and their lives are upside down, and we’re going to do everything we can every single day to make things better,” the governor said at a stop in Tangipahoa Parish.

Power should be restored to most customers around the Baton Rouge area by Sept. 8 after workers finish assessing damage, Entergy Louisiana President Philip May said Thursday. Damage assessments are not as far along in the harder-hit regions, so Entergy said it has no timetable for getting service to those areas, which include New Orleans.

Gasoline shortages were also a problem for people trying to run generators and waiting in drive-thru lines for food and water. The lines for gas stretched for blocks in many places from New Orleans to Baton Rouge…

Gov. Kate Brown Sued by Oregon State Troopers, Firefighters Over Vaccine Mandate

Gov. Kate Brown (D-OR) is being sued by a united group of Oregon state troopers and firefighters over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all state workers.

The suit aims to halt the mandate for good and its enforcement and alleges that the vaccine requirement violates the plaintiffs’ right to freedom of expression, both at the federal and at the state level. According to Oregon Live, the lawsuit states:

“With very few exceptions, none of which apply here, all speech and expressive conduct are constitutionally protected. Plaintiffs’ right to control their own medical destinies is both expressive speech in the form of opposition to the COVID-19 vaccine, and expressive conduct in opposition to the vaccine mandate.”

Group Protests Med Center Health Vaccine Mandate

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — On Friday, a group assembled outside the Medical Center in Bowling Green to protest the mandate for employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Protesters said it should be their choice whether to get the vaccine or not. Now that the September 1 deadline has passed, there’s a feeling of uncertainty among those WBKO talked to.

“So not having gotten my vaccine, I was not told whether or not I have a job. I did not sign any letter of resignation so I did not personally resign. I have not been given any forms to fill out, I have not received a letter of termination, so I really don’t know what my status is at this time with the Medical Center,” sonographer Brittany Murphy said.

“However, the bottom line with Canadian law and with living in a free and open democratic society is that we generally have the right to protest and to express dissent about government measures,” McDermott told CBC News.

Say, whatever happened to that old feminist chestnut pertaining to abortion: “My body, my choice”?

Because these days — if you listen to certain politicians and the trained seals who comprise the state-funded Media Party — the politically-correct mantra would seem to be, “Your body, government’s choice.”

After all, just a few weeks ago, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said the province would not mandate a vaccination passport. He said he didn’t want two-tier citizenship for Ontarians, the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

Two People Arrested at Extinction Rebellion Vancouver Protest Held in Support of Fairy Creek Demonstrators

One day after protests were held in the area of Vancouver General Hospital and Vancouver City Hall about COVID-19 vaccination issues, a protest for a different reason blocked traffic in the same area.

Environmental advocacy and climate activist group Extinction Rebellion Vancouver organized a protest on September 2, with plans to march from city hall to the Cambie Bridge, in solidarity with demonstrators at the Fairy Creek blockade, who are seeking to protect one of the last remaining old-growth forests on Vancouver Island from logging.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, about 75 people marched from city hall to the intersection of West Broadway and Cambie Street around 5 p.m. on September 2.

At that location, the protesters staged a die-in by lying on the street, which blocked traffic for several hours.

European Countries Look at Hungary as a Role Model, Says Justice Minister Varga

Although part of the international media and some politicians like to portray Hungary as the “black sheep” of the European Union, the truth is that an increasing number of member states look at Hungary as a role model, Justice Minister Judit Varga wrote in a Facebook post after an informal meeting of EU justice ministers in Alpbach, Austria.

“Everyone notes positively the outstanding performance of the Hungarian economy, as our country was among the first European states to emerge from the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus,” Varga wrote.

German MEP Has Made Punishing Hungarian and Polish Governments Into an Obsession

At this week’s LIBE (Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs) meeting in the European Parliament, one of the main topics was the perceived delay that the MEPs are accusing the European Commission of in launching Article 7 proceedings against Hungary and Poland. The two conservative lead countries are accused of violating various EU treaties — Poland with its judicial reforms and Hungary with its child protection legislation.

During the sparsely attended meeting, familiar faces from the political spectrum’s far-left have made presentations against various European conservative governments, including Slovenia, which has received a barrage of criticism since the government of Janez Jansa came to power after the country’s last round of elections. Perhaps no other MEP has gone out of her way in her criticism of Hungary and Poland as much as German MEP and member of the German Social Democrats (SPD) Katarina Barley.

German Companies Cannot Ask Employees About COVID Vaccination Status, Labor Minister Says

There was a time when America was a land of the free (and home of the brave); this is not that time.

With the Biden administration forcing experimental injections upon the populace depriving them of a say (while paradoxically arguing that a woman’s right to choose is constitutional) and urging employers to fire those workers who refuse to be jabbed, it was Russia that unexpectedly emerged as a beacon of freedom this week after Putin said he opposes mandatory jabs, saying that people should get vaccinated without coercion. It gets better.

While Biden has been imploring corporations to make life miserable for all vaccine holdouts, if not fire them outright — lacking the guts to impose a federal vaccination mandate — Germany’s labor minister said companies will not have the right to ask staff to reveal their Covid vaccination status.

UK Considers Regulating Platforms Like Netflix for “Misinformation”

Documentaries on streaming services, like Netflix and Amazon Prime, could soon be regulated by media regulator Ofcom, in an effort to fight the spread of misinformation on issues such as climate change and health. Currently, streaming services are not held to the same standards as traditional television.

This week, the UK government launched a consultation to deliberate if Ofcom’s broadcast code on fairness and accuracy should be extended to streaming services. In recent times, streaming services, particularly Netflix, have been the subject of controversy over the accuracy and fairness of some popular shows.

UK: ‘It’s My Duty as a Doctor’: Extinction Rebellion Medics Glued to Bank Demand End of Fossil Fuel Investment

London’s Canary Wharf became the centre of striking scenes on Friday, after healthcare professionals belonging to Extinction Rebellion (XR) were forcibly removed from the pavement they had occupied outside an investment bank.

Dozens of doctors, nurses, psychiatrists and anaesthetists, all clad in scrubs, kickstarted XR’s 11th day of action in the capital by targeting JP Morgan Chase, which was identified in a 2021 report by the Rainforest Action Network as the world’s biggest funder of coal, oil and gas extraction.

The medics, who all form part of the environmental movement’s Doctors for XR faction, gathered outside the bank’s front doors just after 7am to explain why the climate crisis must be considered a “public health crisis”, and to read a letter they had written to the bank’s CEO Jamie Dimon.

Caroline Glick: Bennett’s Voters Face Bennett’s Policies

The four farmers of Arugot Farm, located on the eastern side of the Gush Etzion settlement bloc were tense on Monday morning. They had just gotten word that the next day, a hundred soldiers were set to storm their farm and uproot their vineyard. They planted their vineyard six years ago in memory of Ezra Schwartz, a Jewish American youth who was murdered in a terror attack in 2015.

Ezra was killed and five of his friends from yeshiva were wounded when a terrorist opened fire on the minibus they were travelling in. They were stuck in a traffic jam at Gush Etzion junction and didn’t have a chance. The spot they were stuck in traffic was just a few dozen meters from where three other teenagers, Naftali Frankel, Gil-Ad Shaer, and Eyal Yifrach were kidnapped and murdered the previous summer. Their abduction and execution set off a chain for events that led to the summer war with the Hamas regime in Gaza. Ezra and his friends were on their way to help build Oz V’Gaon nature preserve on the eastern side of the junction. Oz V’Gaon is locted not far from where their bodies were found and was built in their memory.

Local officials asked the farmers to build the Arugot Farm. It is located on state lands the Jewish National Fund had been unable to maintain. Around 20 years ago, the JNF planted ten thousand trees on the site to protect it from Palestinian land grabs. But in the space of a few hours, Palestinian villagers uprooted all of the trees. The four farmers and their families moved in seven years ago. Together they cultivate and protect some forty acres of state land…

Afghan Women Report Forced Marriages to Flee Country Amid Taliban Takeover, Sources Say

(CNN) — US officials processing Afghan refugees abroad recently alerted the State Department to instances in which women and girls were forced into marriage or arrived with male partners posing as their husbands to be eligible for evacuation and escape the Taliban, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The incidents described by sources to CNN were revealed while Afghans were at a transit hub abroad. They underscore the desperation among Afghans to flee the country after the Taliban takeover — and the fear of what their rule might mean for women and girls.

It’s unclear how widespread the issue is, but it prompted enough concern for US diplomats in the United Arab Emirates to send a cable…

Apple Sued in India Over App Store Practices

Apple is facing an antitrust lawsuit in India for abusing its power by prohibiting developers from using third-party payment systems for in-app purchases. The company is facing similar cases in Europe and in the US.

A non-profit called Together We Fight Society has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple in India. The suit argues that the 30% commission Apple imposes for purchases made through its in-app payment system is unfair to competitors as it acts as a barrier to market entry for developers and raises the costs of apps for both consumers and developers.

New Zealand Prime Minister Responds to Islamist Terror Attack by Worrying About “Backlash” Against Muslims

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern responded to an Islamist terror attack at a supermarket in Auckland by expressing concern about a “backlash” against Muslims.

Because that’s obviously the main concern here.

Six people were wounded, leaving three in critical condition, after an Islamic extremist inspired by ISIS went on a stabbing rampage at a supermarket in Auckland.

Police shot the culprit dead within 60 seconds of him launching the attack at a Countdown store earlier today.

The terrorist, who has not been named, is a Sri Lankan national who had been living in New Zealand since 2011.

German Government Quietly Flying in Asylum Seekers by the Thousands, At Taxpayers’ Expense

Germany’s federal government, led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, has been quietly flying an increasing number of asylum seekers into the country in recent years, according to an information request from the Alternative for Germany’s (AfD) parliamentary group.

According to a report from political newspaper Junge Freiheit that cites the AfD’s request, 2,453 migrants classified as “in need of protection” were brought to Germany by plane from Greece and Turkey between January and August of this year.

Of the nearly 3,000 migrants flown to Germany so far this year, the vast majority are from Syria and Afghanistan. However, asylum seekers from Somalia, the Congo, and the Palestinian territories were also flown in.

Travel costs were passed on to the German taxpayer, the request noted.

House of Lords Member Asked Why Brits Are Forced to Take PCR COVID Tests on Returning to UK But Illegal Migrants Aren’t

A member of the House of Lords is demanding to know why Brits returning to the UK from abroad are required to take several PCR COVID tests even if fully vaccinated while illegal migrants, the vast majority of whom are unvaccinated, don’t have to take a PCR test at all.

Under the current system, UK citizens returning from countries on the ‘amber list’ — which includes numerous popular holiday destinations — are forced to take multiple PCR tests at their own cost to prove they are not carrying the virus, even if they have been double jabbed.

Illegal migrants arriving via boat from France however are not subjected to any PCR testing, despite the UK government footing the bill for their rescue and to put them up in four star hotels.

Officials from the state responded relatively quickly, however. According to Tumasov, Russia’s internet regulator tried several times to take down his organization’s website, citing Russia’s 2013 “anti-gay propaganda” law, which prohibits the transmission of LGBT+ information to minors.

He has been able to successfully challenge the shutdowns so far in court through his organization, the Russian LGBT Network. He expressed this in a conversation with the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
