BLM Protest Planned at New York Restaurant Where Brawl Over Vaccination Proof Occurred

A Black Lives Matter protest is reportedly set to take place on Monday outside the Italian restaurant Carmine’s in New York City, where a physical dispute erupted on Thursday over COVID vaccination proof cards.

Hawk Newsome, co-founder and chairman of BLM Greater New York, told The New York Times on Saturday that the group will protest against the treatment of Black patrons. The plan to protest comes after new details reportedly reveal that the restaurant hostess said a racial slur to a group of five Black women trying to enter.

“Restaurants are using vaccine mandates to enforce their racist beliefs and excluding Black patrons,” Newsome said.

On Thursday, a group of five Texas women physically assaulted the restaurant hostess after she said that their vaccination proof cards were fake, but an attorney for one of the women, Kaeita Nkeenge Rankin, described the fight as a “mutual combat.”

Facebook Won’t Respond to Accusations it “Asked Fact-Checking Partners to Retroactively Change Their Findings”

“The Facebook Files” is an in-depth series based on leaked internal documents that expose the way social media giant Facebook views its platform and its social impact. It was released earlier this week.

Several factors are raised in The Journal’s reporting, including Instagram’s negative impact on minors, the implications of algorithmic changes on political discourse, and Facebook’s protection of influential users. Facebook’s internal research opposes its public assertions, and the company has internalized its societal ills while publicizing its positives in the report.

The Journal also highlighted that their decisions may not be as impartial as they appear on the surface and that “Facebook has asked fact-checking partners to retroactively change their findings on posts from high-profile accounts.”

OpenSea Launches Mobile App, But is Limited by Apple and Google’s Oppressive Rules

There’s a lot of recent excitement about OpenSea, the marketplace for those who are interested in decentralized finance and collectibles. But, up until now they’ve had no apps available on either iPhone or Android.

OpenSea, this weekend, launched a new app for both platforms.

However, it’s not going to be the app that the developers would have ultimately wanted in a perfect world — that’s because it has to be limited for viewing digital collectibles/NFTs only, in order to comply with Apple and Google’s rules.

Exclusive: Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s Disturbing Follow-Up on Ukraine Flight 752 Shot Down by Iran

On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was shot down minutes after takeoff from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. All 176 passengers and crew on board were killed. Fifty-five Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents were among the 176. A significant number of victims were young people, including children. According to a BBC report at the time: “The deaths have cast a pall over university campuses across the country [Canada].” Eight days later, Canada and its International Coordination and Response Group partners created a legal subcommittee to coordinate and collaborate on efforts to hold Iran accountable for its violations of international law.

The Canadian government responded with appropriate compassion, with promises of justice for the victims’ families, but quite abruptly, the tide has turned, forcing the families to use every legal means to pursue justice on their own, and the interests of all potential victims of terror. This is peculiar, given that only two months ago, Canada reiterated its unwavering support.
