Europe Sees Inflation Jump on Temporary Factors

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Annual inflation spiked unexpectedly higher in Europe in August, boosted by more expensive fuel and supply chain disruptions. Economists say the jump is temporary, but it could raise questions about how persistent higher inflation might turn out to be

The 19 countries that use the euro currency saw inflation spike to an annual 3.0% in August, up from 2.2% in July, according to figures released Tuesday by European Union statistics agency Eurostat. Market analysts had expected 2.8%.

The increase was so large in part because some prices were much lower a year ago due to one-time factors connected to the coronavirus pandemic. The last time inflation was higher was in October, 2008, when the rate was 3.2%.

Oil prices, following a price slump a year ago during the depths of the pandemic recession, contributed to a 15.4% rise in energy costs. With volatile fuel and food left out, core inflation was 1.6%. The latest figure also reflects other transitory factors, such the timing of summer retail sales in France and Italy, and the expiration of German tax breaks on retail purchases.

AOC, Tlaib, Pressley “Urge” Biden to Replace Fed Chair With Someone Focused on “Climate Change” And “Racial Justice”

Excited at the prospect of gold at $10,000 and Bitcoin at $1,000,000 in short order? Here’s one way it could happen.

The collective brain trust that is Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, has once again come together to hoist upon the populace their latest idea for turning the United States into their vision of a socialist utopia.

Today’s installment in “real congresswomen of genius” includes the “squad” urging President Biden to replace arguably the most dovish Fed chair in modern history because he isn’t doing enough about climate change, which of course, has nothing to do with the Fed’s dual mandate. All three women (of course) sit on the House Financial Services Committee.

[Comment: If enacted, an economic catastrophe would result.]

Judge Reverses Order That Had Barred Unvaccinated Mom From Seeing Son

The Cook County judge who barred a mother from seeing her son because she wasn’t vaccinated against COVID-19 also has asked other parents in his courtroom about their vaccination status and admitted to ordering some parents and children to be vaccinated, the Sun-Times has learned.

In both cases, Judge James Shapiro appears to have initiated the discussion of vaccination status.

In the more recent case, Shapiro on Monday revoked his order that had kept a divorced Pilsen mother from seeing her 11-year-old son.

Shapiro’s one-paragraph order in the case of Rebecca Firlit gives no reason for his change of heart, stating simply that “this court hereby VACATES paragraph 3 of its August 11, 2021 order based on the absence of a pleading or hearing on serious endangerment” pursuant to Illinois law.

According to Friedman, the vision of the European Union is that a European identity will emerge, but he says this is impossible.

He noted that, among other things, the history and language of European nations are different, so it is inevitable that people will not like it when the EU’s central bodies make decisions that conflict with their interests and values.

UK Gun-Owners’ Addresses Leak Online

In the latest development in the Guntrader breach, we now have a Google Earth-compatible .csv file leaked on the internet, mapping the locations of all UK gun owners whose data was leaked through the breach. The data breach provides clear details of domestic homes of various gun owners while showing them as firearm storage locations.

Users registered on the platform between the years 2016 and 2021 have all been victims of the data breach. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, and geolocation data have all been exposed.

Guntrader users’ database was dumped onto an animal rights activist’s blog last week. Jihadi People Vandalised Hindu Temple in Pakistan’s Sindh Province on Shri Krishna Janmashtami

Lord Krishna’s idol broken into pieces by ‘Peace Lovers’…

Nafisa Ameen | HENB | Karachi | Aug 31, 2021:: A group of Jihadi miscreants vandalised a Hindu temple and broke the idol of Lord Krishna at Khipro in the Sanghar district of Sindh province of Pakistan on Monday.

The incident took place during a religious function at the temple which was being held to celebrate the festival of Janamasthmi, the birth day of Lord Krishna.

Earlier this month, hundreds of ‘Peace Lover’ Muslim people had damaged a Ganesh temple in Bhong city of the Rahim Yar Khan district, some 590 kms from Lahore.

The Pakistan government later said it has completed the restoration work of the temple in Punjab province and arrested a total of 90 suspects involved in the attack. But, in reality no restoration work has been done so far and all the arrested persons were freed on bail.

The radical Muslim mob armed with weapons, sticks and bamboos attacked policemen deployed at the temple and vandalised and also burnt down a part of the temple.

Taking to Twitter for the present Krishna Temple attack on Janmasthami, Pakistan rights activist Rahat Austin said the temple was vandalised at Khipro in the Sanghar district of Sindh to insult a Hindu God as people were celebrating the birthday of Lord Krishna.

“A Hindu temple is vandalized in Khipro, Sanghar, Sindh, to insult Hindu God as they were celebrating the birthday of Lord Krishna. In Pakistan, even false allegation of blasphemy against Islam leads to mob lynching or death sentence but crimes against non-Muslim Gods goes unpunished,” he tweeted.

Rahat John Austin, a Christian born in Pakistan, has been raising his voice for the persecuted minorities back home. He had to flee from Pakistan and is now living with his family in South Korea.

Pakistan is a Radicalized Islamic Country influenced by Talibani forces where there is no rights for minority people so far. Hindu persecution in Islamic Pakistan and severe atrocities on non-Muslim minorities are all time high in Pakistan.

New Taliban Rulers Face Tough Economic, Security Challenges

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan’s new Taliban rulers face tough economic and security challenges as they step back into power in a country that is vastly different from the one they left 20 years ago.

When they last ruled in the late 1990s, Afghanistan was a poor agricultural nation, and the Taliban were preoccupied with imposing their harsh brand of Islam on an already deeply traditional and largely compliant population.

This time, they’re inheriting a more developed society with a small, educated middle class, but also an economy that has been devastated by war and corruption. Even before the Taliban overran Kabul on Aug. 15, the jobless rate was more than 30% and more than half of Afghans lived in poverty, despite two decades of U.S. involvement and billions of dollars in aid.

The Taliban have sought to reassure Afghans that they’ve changed from 1996, when they ruled with a heavy hand. Men had to grow beards and women had to wear the all-encompassing burqa. Girls were denied education and entertainment like music and television were shunned…
