73 Year Old Vietnam Vet Dead After Being Beaten in Broad Daylight During Attempted Carjacking in Chicago

Today in “Lori Lightfoot’s liberal utopia” news…

As if we needed any further proof that Mayor Lori Lightfoot is grossly incompetent and has completely lost control of her city, a 73 year old Vietnam War veteran in Chicago passed away due to a heart attack after an attempted carjacking that left him beaten in broad daylight.

Keith Cooper, who served his country honorably during two Vietnam War combat tours, was pronounced dead on Wednesday this week after being “repeatedly punched in the head” after two carjackers demanded he turn over the keys to his car while he was out running errands.

Anchorage School District Quietly Removes Critical Race Theory Reading List

Anchorage School Board member Dave Donley has been beating the drum for months: The Critical Race Theory reading list from the Anchorage School District’s Equity Office is partisan, racist, and Marxist.

Now, the reading list has mysteriously disappeared. Those books may still be on a recommended list that the district’s Equity Office may make available to those who call, but the district website has been scrubbed of the worst offenders, including:

  • Antiracist Baby by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
  • How to be an Antiracist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
  • Stamped from The Beginning by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
  • The New Jim Crow by Michele Alexander
  • An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar Ortiz
  • White Fragility by Dr. Robin DiAngelo
  • So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo

Now, there are only a couple of tame podcasts and other resources listed.

Biden Accuses Facebook of ‘Killing People’ Amid Censorship Row

President Biden on Friday accused Facebook of “killing people,” just after White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration is “in regular touch” with the platform to ensure correct “narratives” are promoted — elaborating on her Thursday admission that the White House is “flagging problematic posts” to censor.

Biden was asked about his message for platforms like Facebook as he departed the White House on Friday afternoon for a weekend trip to Camp David.

“They’re killing people. The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated. And they’re killing people,” Biden said.

Cardona Retreats From Making Critical Race Theory Part of New School Grants

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on Friday backed off from his proposal to create a new grant that was seen as encouraging the teaching of critical race theory and the “1619 Project.”

Mr. Cardona’s decision came after the department received more than 35,000 comments on the proposed grants, with most of the comments objecting to grants to promote teaching U.S. history through the prism of race and highlighting the impact of slavery.

In a blog post, Mr. Cardona announced that the department would go forward with the creation of the new federal grants but the grants would not require classwork based on critical race theory or the “1619 Project.”

Serial Killer Who Murdered Ashton Kutcher’s Girlfriend Sentenced to Death

“Hollywood Ripper” Michael Gargiulo was sentenced to death in California on Saturday (AEST) for the home-invasion murders of two women, including Ashton Kutcher’s then-girlfriend.

Gargiulo, a former bouncer, airconditioner repairman and aspiring actor, was convicted in August 2019 of the 2001 murder of Ashley Ellerin, 22, and the 2005 murder of 32-year-old Maria Bruno.

He was also found guilty of attempted murder in a 2008 attack on a Santa Monica woman.

Ellerin, who was found in her Hollywood home with 47 stab wounds, had been due to go on a date with Kutcher, then an up-and-coming young actor.

Kutcher testified at Gargiulo’s murder trial that he was late to pick Ellerin up, but had been repeatedly calling her to let her know he was delayed.

When he ultimately arrived at her door in Hollywood Hills, she didn’t answer. Kutcher testified that he figured he’d been stood up — but in fact, she had been slain by Gargiulo…

Virginia Sheriff’s Deputy Indicted in Shooting of Another Unarmed Black Man Whose Cell Phone Was Not a Gun

On April 21, 32-year-old Isiah Brown was shot numerous times by a Spotsylvania County, Va., sheriff’s deputy not long after the same deputy had given him a ride home after his car broke down. The deputy had been called back to the scene to investigate a domestic disturbance, and at the time of the shooting, which the victim thankfully survived, Brown’s family was baffled as to what reason the officer had to open fire. Hungary Says EU’s Latest Climate Deal is Unacceptable

At the same time, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office Gergely Gulyas emphasized the importance of climate protection and emission reduction and for it to be presented as a global issue.

Italy: Carabiniere Homicide: Court Explains Americans’ Life Terms

Elder and Natale had ‘undoubted criminal capacity’ say judges

(ANSA) — ROME, JUL 16 — A Rome court on Friday released the explanation of its May decision to give two young American men, Finnegan Lee Elder and Christian Gabriel Natale Hjorth, life in prison for the homicide of Carabinieri police officer Mario Cerciello Rega in July 2019.

Elder killed Cerciello Rega with 11 stab wounds inflicted by a combat knife he had brought over from the US while Natale Hjorth assaulted the slain officer’s partner at the end of a chain of events sparked by a drugs deal that went wrong.

Cerciello Rega , 35, had recently returned from his honeymoon when he was killed.

The judges said the personality of the defendants was “alarming, despite their young age”.

The explanation talked of the “disconcerting perpetration of serious criminal acts in an disturbing escalation of illegality”.

It said they upheld “deviant models of behaviour” with the “glorification of drugs, the ostentation of weapons and money as symbols of success, as documented by the photos found on mobile telephones” and said this highlighted “the clear criminal capacity of both”.

The judges also explained why they had given life sentences to both of the defendants.

“Both Elder and Natale acted according to a premeditated plan in which the lethal event was a predictable, probable consequence of the conduct actively adopted by the two,” the explanation said.

UK: 80% of Nightclubs Say They’ll Reject Draconian COVID Passports

In an attempt to keep cases down after all COVID measures are lifted on July 19, the UK government issued a guidance earlier this week requiring large venues to demand vaccination passports from their customers before entry. The plan might not work as the guidance is opposed by over 80% of nightclubs who are fighting back against the vaccine passport scheme.

In a press conference on Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said large entertainment venues, such as nightclubs and cinemas, should demand vaccine passports from their customers “as a matter of social responsibility.”

Now Solicitor General Lucy Frazer has signaled the government may be about to cave to them again after telling Sky News that Brits will “of course” face yet another lockdown in the near future on current projections.

Yes, really.

Governments Are Using Credit Card Purchase Data as “Contact Tracing’ COVID Surveillance

The ongoing “war on cash” that far preceded the pandemic, whose goal is to steer people towards using traceable forms of payment, is coming in very handy in the COVID era precisely for the reason the policy is criticized in the first place — it makes it easy for authorities to keep tabs on individuals who use card transactions.

Reports now mention instances of Australian residents receiving a mandate to quarantine after using their credit card to pay at an establishment, where somebody known to be infected with the virus had stayed.

Pictures: Vigilantism Grows in South Africa as Citizens Tackle Unrest Themselves

AFP — Armed community members and vigilante groups have stepped in to tackle unrest in South Africa, taking matters into their own hands and sometimes stoking violence as security forces struggle to restore order.

Understaffed and heavily reliant on private security companies, the police was rapidly overwhelmed when riots and looting first flared last week in the southeastern province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), sparked by the jailing of graft-accused former president Jacob Zuma.

South African Says Riots Over Zuma Jailing Pre-Planned — Cyril Ramaphosa

South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa has said the violence that has rocked the country was pre-planned, describing it as an assault on democracy.

Riots were sparked by the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma.

The death toll has risen to 212, up by almost 100 since Thursday, the government said.

Police officers have been protecting deliveries of food to supermarkets after days of widespread looting led to shortages.

An estimated $1bn (£720m) worth of stock was stolen in KwaZulu-Natal with at least 800 retail shops looted, a mayor in the province said.

“The bookstore is completely untouched, this is ridiculous, I’m not even making this up,” the woman remarks.

Bolsonaro, 66, has been in the hospital since Wednesday, when he traveled from Brasilia to Sao Paulo for treatment relating to complications from the 2018 knifing. After initial concerns he might need emergency surgery, doctors now say he is improving, with an operation less likely.

Video: Young Americans Dumbfounded as to Why Oppressed Cubans Are Waving U.S. Flags

Cuban protesters attempting to escape the grips of decades of oppressive communist tyranny have risen up in recent days, many waving U.S. flags and pleading for the help of America. Yet when this footage was shown to young Americans, they were completely confused, believing their own country’s flag to be some kind of hate symbol.

Campus Reform reporter Ophelie Jacobson asked students in Washington D.C. what they thought of the footage, as well as similar footage of pro-freedom protesters in Hong Kong and Venezuela waving old glory, and further questioned what the American flag means to them.

Video: White House Finally Admits Cubans Rising Up Against ‘Failed Communism’

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki finally admitted Thursday, at the third or fourth time of asking, that the people of Cuba are rising up against a failed communist system of government, rather than a rise in COVID cases.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Psaki, “Now that you’ve had a few days to think about it, does this White House still think that the protests in Cuba are happening because people are upset about a rise in COVID cases there, or is there some thought maybe given to the possibility that they’re protesting because they’re sick of communism?”

Psaki responded “Well, Peter, first I would say communism is a failed ideology, and we certainly believe that.”

DACA Was Enacted Illegally, Federal Judge Rules

A federal judge ruled Friday that the Obama administration violated procedural laws when it created the DACA program for illegal immigrant “Dreamers,” and blocked new applications from being approved.

U.S. District Court Judge Andrew S. Hanen’s ruling could throw the issue back to Congress, where lawmakers have for decades been at a stalemate over the fate of the young adult illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and are seen as the most sympathetic cases.

DACA, created in 2012, grants Dreamers a tentative stay of deportation and some taxpayer benefits, giving them a chance to embed into society, though it is not permanent legal status. The Obama administration created it through a Homeland Security memo, claiming it was exercising “prosecutorial discretion” not to pursue immigration consequences of deportation against Dreamers.

On Tuesday, local police relocated them to the nearby ‘Lipa’ camp, a facility that was destroyed by fire in December of 2020, but re-inhabited shortly after.

Majority of Syrian Refugees in Germany Needs State Support

At least two-thirds of Syrian refugees of working age need partial state support, according to the BA report. This rate is 43 percent for Afghan refugees and 37 percent for Somalis.

“We still have a lot of work to do in the field of integration,” said Mathias Middelberg, a member of the CDU/CSU’s parliamentary group for domestic affairs, in response to the report, adding that more should be done for those already here instead of supporting the further intake of low-skilled or unskilled immigration.

The German authorities still do not consider Syria a stable country, and to this day they accept asylum applications from there. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, some 1.1 million immigrants have arrived in the European Union from Syria since 2011, of which approximately 600,000 are in Germany. Syrians are eligible for state aid under Hartz IV labor market reform. The aid has risen to €446 per month per person this year, an increase of €14 from the last amendment of the support framework in 2016. Spouses of beneficiaries can receive €401, with €143 for children aged 14-17, €309 for children aged 6-13, and €283 for children under five.

Wikipedia Co-Founder Says Site is Now ‘Propaganda’ For Left-Leaning ‘Establishment’

Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has warned that the website can no longer be trusted — insisting it is now just “propaganda” for the left-leaning “establishment.”

Sanger told UnHerd’s Lockdown TV Wednesday that he started the “encyclopedia of opinion” in 2001 purely on the basis it would offer true neutrality and offer “multiple points of view” on “hot button issues.”

Now, he insisted, conservative voices are “sternly warned if not kicked out” if they try to add a different take on establishment views — which Sanger deemed “propaganda.”

  1. Pence should just shut up and go hang himself already. He could have found his courage and prevented the imposter from being certified but he chose to sell out his boss and he didn’t even get thirty pieces of silver for his trouble. At least Judas had that much sense to profit from his betrayal.

  2. Likely the reason the South African bookstore was left unmolested by feral orcs wasn’t for the obvious reason that most of them can’t read or are disinclined to do so even if they are able to. Books still have value for wiping one’s backside after defecating but that’s likely a western practice which hasn’t yet caught on in Orcistan. If it ever does, I suggest sending that Anchorage BLM reading list with a few million unsold Obamination autobiographies tossed in, and about ten or twenty million fraudulent Biden mail-in ballots. I hear the fake paper they are printed upon is perfect for being loaded with male bovine excrement.

  3. It is quite clear that a growing number of South Africans have realised that the ANC are nothing more than a self serving bunch of criminals who have no regard for the dream of a “Rainbow Nation”.
