Alas Poor Peter, I Knew Him Well

I’ve posted several times in the last couple of weeks (see here, here, and here) about Peter R. de Vries, a Dutch investigative journalist who was shot in the head on the street in Amsterdam and subsequently died of his wounds.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is the leader of the VVD (Volkspartij Voor Vrijheid En Democratie, People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy), an allegedly center-right party. In the following video Mr. Rutte makes a few remarks about the death of Mr. de Vries. I’m not well-enough acquainted with the nuances of Dutch politics to comment either on the former’s sincerity or the latter’s character. Perhaps H. Numan will stop by later on and provide a windmills-and-tulips-centric point of view.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:04   Good evening.
00:08   I am deeply, very deeply touched…
00:13   by the death of Peter R. de Vries.
00:17   All of the Netherlands is deeply touched.
00:20   This is a report that we as Dutch people
00:25   hoped that we would not receive.
00:30   All of us, since the terrible attack on Tuesday
00:34   of last week, have hoped, kept our fingers crossed, prayed…
00:40   that he would survive.
00:44   Today it has been announced that the darkest scenario
00:48   has transpired.
00:52   My thoughts, first of all, go out to
00:57   his family, his friends,
01:01   his next-of-kin, his colleagues,
01:06   who also have to cope with the terrible circumstance.
01:11   For whom it is a terrible moment. I want to say to them:
01:15   I myself, the cabinet, all of the Netherlands
01:19   are with you, that you are not standing alone
01:23   on this difficult day, in these difficult days.
01:29   Peter R. de Vries was no simple man.
01:34   We all got to know him in the Netherlands. We have, as it were,
01:38   in the dozens of years in which he was fighting
01:42   for justice, grown up together with him,
01:46   and we have all seen
01:50   how he was a very loyal person
01:53   who wouldn’t let go; those people for whom he leaped into the breach
01:57   were not alone. Families who experienced terrible things
02:02   were supported.
02:05   A man who like no other, stands for justice,
02:10   and that is why it is so hard to digest
02:16   that great injustice has happened to him.
02:23   And that we can, in this country, in the Netherlands, never, never tolerate that.
02:30   And that’s why it is so important that
02:34   justice take its course. I know that
02:38   the police, Ministry of Justice, everyone concerned,
02:45   are enormously driven to — no stone unturned — get all the facts on the table.
02:51   And to ensure that this cowardly act
02:55   does not go unpunished. Thank you.

  1. Rutte … we know him and Jacinda. They love their people with lip service. But practical steps to promote blie with muslims.

He prays? What type of pray? Is God in EU constitution? No.

    This is how he prays:

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds,1

    the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

Master of the Day of Judgment.

You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.

Guide us along the Straight Path,

the Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.1

allah is displeased with Christians and Jews are gone astray. The straight path is islam.

Does he know or has he heard the Lord’s prayer?

It does not condemn anyone , any path.

Rutte will follow the religion which installs him in office.

That uncursed religion has become the deciding factor in all western islamised

    DEMOCRACIES.

Democracies that get their clues from muslim counselors, consultants and

advisors to show them common sense, logic, wisdom that lead to the Right Path.

People without brains lose all honor. They also lose brain without honor.

    Hence lose everything.

  2. Yes, after the person is death everybody loved him, was his friend etc.

Just dont look up what they said when he was alive.
Back then they described him as a nuisance, islamophic, hater etc.

  3. Hmmm/
Dutch people need a Martyr to feel spiritually validated..
They chose Dutch way.. De Vries indeed represent what Dutch people are about..Mix off Commie-Fascism bigots and Hypocrites..With theirs Old Religion of Money Laundering..
Building Wealth , which on the end will be inherited by Islam…
What a stupid society and people ..
