DBRS Sees Greek GDP Growth at 5% This Year, 5% in 2022

DBRS credit rating on Friday said it expected the Greek GDP to grow by 5% this year and in 2022. In a report, the credit rating firm said this forecast is part of the main “scenario” for the Greek economy, included in the ratings firm’s report for the global economy.

It noted that conversely, under the worst-case scenario GDP growth is expected to reach 3% this year, and to fall to 1.5% in 2022.

DBRS estimates that the global economy is in a recovery course, led by advanced economies who have reported significant progress in a vaccination drive for COVID-19.

Jobless Claims Rise Unexpectedly Amid Labor Shortage

First-time unemployment claims surprisingly rose to a month-long high as the U.S. economy faces an ongoing labor shortage under the Biden administration.

According to the Department of Labor, 412,000 Americans filed for initial jobless benefits last week, marking the highest level in a month. Economists expected just 360,000 new claims.

Antifa Militants Attack Pedestrians, Shut Down Streets Outside Denver Conservative Conference

Antifa and Denver Communists attacked and threatened pedestrians while trying to block traffic outside of the Western Conservatives Conference on Friday night.

The streets of Denver saw violence Friday as Antifa and Denver Communists attempted to shut down traffic and proceeded to assault individuals outside of the Western Conservative Conference. One woman was seen getting out of her car to confront Antifa who threw projectiles at her vehicle and was subsequently threatened with a mob-style beatdown if she proceeded.

Another onlooker offered to help the one woman find the culprit who damaged her car, to which someone in the crowd yells: “If you touch one, you’re gonna get touched by every last one of these motherf—ers!” The crowd implied that she was at risk for a brutal beating if she proceeded.

Are Some Chinese University Students Spies for the CCP?

I missed this when it was published earlier this week by the Free Beacon. It’s definitely worth a look even at the end of a long week, especially in light of some additional information published last night. National security officials are looking into the possibility that several hundred Chinese university students are actually spies working for the CCP.

[Comment: I think so. The Chinese government spies to the fullest extent possible.]

Arizona Shooting Spree Suspect Thought People Were Following Him, Officials Say

The suspected gunman accused of killing one person and injuring a dozen others in a series of drive-by shootings allegedly thought people were after him because of an unrelated shooting, police in Arizona said.

The suspect, Ashin Tricarico, 19, reportedly told police in interviews that he thought every person he drove by was pointing a gun at him, according to NBC affiliate KPNX of Phoenix, which cited search warrants and police.

He told authorities that he thought he was being followed for about a week, the outlet reported.

Last month, Tricarico allegedly shot and wounded a customer while working as a security guard at a Phoenix restaurant. KPNX reported that the man was supposedly drunk and had been asked to leave. Tricarico allegedly told police that he shot the customer in self-defense.

That shooting is being investigated as an aggravated assault case, according to the outlet…

Bruce Springsteen Fans Who Have Had AstraZeneca Vaccine Barred From Shows in the US

Fans who are hoping to attend Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming theatre shows in New York may be turned away if they’ve had the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.

Anyone keen to attend the Boss’s comeback shows on Broadway will be required to show proof they’ve received the full coronavirus vaccination before being able to enter the theatre.

However, with the AstraZeneca vaccine not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) anyone who’s had that one and wants to attend is going to be disappointed.

Springsteen is returning to the stage for a limited run of performances at Jujamcyn’s St. James Theatre, kicking off June 26, with additional performances taking place through September 4.

Coca-Cola Warned Its Woke Policy Would Violate Anti-Discrimination Law

On June 11, the American Civil Rights Project (ACRP) sent a warning letter to the Coca-Cola company, alleging that the beverage corporation’s new diversity policy would require contracted law firms to violate anti-discrimination law.

The letter asks the recently-beleaguered company to either “publicly retract the discriminatory outside-counsel policies it announced in January” or, otherwise, “provide access to the corporate records related to the decision of Coca-Cola’s officers and directors to adopt and retain those illegal policies.”

Further down in the letter, the memo talks about the mega soft drink company’s new policy “of contracting, refusing to contract, and altering the terms of signed contracts on the basis of the race of Coke’s counterparties, the [directors] have exposed Coke and its shareholders to material risk of liability.”

Fauci: Yes, There Was a Secret Meeting Among Scientists Last February to Discuss the Origins of the Coronavirus

I’ll tell you up front that there’s nothing salacious in this USA Today story about what was said during the conference call held on February 1, 2020. Federal Judge Rules in Favor of Florida, Against CDC’s No-Sail Order for Cruise Ships

We’ve entered the summer vacation season. The coronavirus pandemic is winding down and people are ready to get out and get back to a more normal way of life. The travel industry was especially hard hit during the pandemic shutdowns. Now the industry is trying to get back on its feet. One story is that of cruise lines and their ability to start up again out of ports in Florida. Governor DeSantis scored a temporary victory for Florida’s travel industry workers against the CDC’s no-sail order on Friday.

Here’s What the Chinese Defector Has Reportedly Given Us About Covid… But Also on Joe and Hunter Biden

As the media laments being totally wrong about the COVID lab leak theory, more details are coming out about the Chinese defector who has been taken into US custody. The man alleges that he has knowledge about a slew of Chinese bioweapons programs and COVID. He alleges that the current pandemic was caused by a lab leak, and that bats were the real cover-up story. The defector alleges that while the lab leak was an accident, it was allowed to spread. Our friends at RedState wrote about this first, but Jen Van Laar has a new development. Illinois Town Holds Pride and Juneteenth Parades, Cancels July 4th Celebration

The town of Evanston, Illinois, is holding Pride and Juneteenth parades during the month of June, but canceling July 4 fireworks and Independence Day festivities.

The municipal government of Evanston had a grand announcement for its Juneteenth parade on Saturday. While the theatrical performance will be virtual, the parade will proceed in-person as scheduled.

Residents are also invited in-person to attend post-parade celebrations outdoors for “an afternoon of art, music, food and community.

Another major parade is scheduled in Evanston on June 26 to close out Pride Month. Once again, in-person events will continue after the parade, sponsored by the government, including a night-time “candle lighting ceremony and memorial.”

However, the July 4 parade and fireworks will not go on as scheduled in Evanston. The city opted to do everything in a virtual manner on that day, offering a “safe, creative virtual celebration” only, to be broadcasted over local TV.

[Comment: Evanston is a libtard city.]

It’s Not Just Your Imagination. Drivers in the Pandemic Have Gotten More Reckless

(CNN) — When the coronavirus pandemic shut down the country last year, highways emptied out as many people holed up at home. But those who got behind the wheel engaged in riskier behavior, leading to the deadliest year for US traffic crashes in over a decade.

More motorists went too fast, failed to buckle up and drove under the influence of drugs and alcohol, according to law enforcement and traffic safety experts.

The outcome was grim. About 38,680 people died in vehicle crashes in the US last year — the highest number since 2007, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Fatalities also increased among motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians, even as the number of miles driven nationwide dropped by 13.2% compared to 2019.

“It’s mind-boggling and extremely frustrating to see the tremendous loss of life from Covid compounded by preventable traffic crashes,” says Pam Shadel Fischer, a senior director for the Governors Highway Safety Association…

Yesterday, Tshibaka received a significant boost to her prospects yesterday when she received the ringing endorsement of former President Donald Trump. His brief comments were quite flattering toward Tshibaka while getting in a few shots at Murkowski as needing “to go.” As you may recall, Murkowski was one of the Republicans who voted to convict Trump during the Democrats’ failed attempt to impeach him for a second time. Virginia: Far-Left Activists Make List Targeting Critics of CRT in School Curriculum

An extreme activist group in Albemarle County, Virginia, requested a “call to action” targeting citizens who spoke against Critical Race Theory (CRT) at a County school board meeting, telling its supporters to confront them, labeling the individuals “dangerous to our children.”

In a June 10 Facebook post, the Hate-Free Schools Coalition of Albemarle County (HFSC) posted the call to action, saying “these are your neighbors, friends, and family.” The message describes the controversial curriculum as “anti-racism and LQBTQIA+ [sic] inclusive,” avoiding the more problematic label of Critical Race Theory. After publishing the list of names and their respective districts, the organization warns: “Make no mistake that individuals who hold these beliefs are dangerous to our children. Dangerous to all children but in particular LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC children.” The post encourages its audience to communicate with the people on the list, by phone or in person, and try to change their minds. “Racists can’t hide,” it concludes.

Italy: WADA Says ‘Horrified, Defamed’ By Schwazer Ruling

‘Reckless, groundless’ claims of urine sample manipulation

(ANSA) — ROME, FEB 19 — The World Anti-Doping Agency said Friday it was horrified by an Italian court ruling clearing walker Alex Schwazer of doping, saying it had been defamed by the court’s findings the athlete’s urine samples had been deliberately tampered with.

Investigating Judge Walter Pelino in the northern town of Bolzano ruled for a dismissal of the case against the 2008 Olympic 50km walking champion from Italy “for not having committed the crime”.

Pelino wrote that he believed “with a high degree of credibility that the urine samples taken from Alex Schwazer on January 1, 2016 had been altered to obtain a positive result (in order to) obtain the disqualification and discredit the athlete”.

“Wada is appalled by the multiple reckless and groundless allegations made by the judge against the organisation and other parties to the case,” the Montreal-based body said in a statement on Twitter.

Schwazer, 36, was suspended for eight years just before the 2016 Olympics, for testing positive for anabolic steroids, but has claimed he was the victim of foul play.

The court said the international athletics federation (IAAF) and the world anti-doping agency (WADA) had been “opaque” in the longrunning case, which forced Schwazer to retire from the 2016 Olympics. The court was highly critical of the two organisations.

Schwazer has admitted a previous doping case, in 2012, which forced him to pull out of that year’s Olympics.

He is still serving his eight-year ban due to the second case.

The court instructed a prosecutor to investigate on possible charges of “false statements, trial fraud and defamation”.

Schwazer said: “I’m very happy that after four and a half years the day has finally come when justice has been done.

“I probably won’t be able to forget everything, but today makes up for many battles I have had to face with those close to me in these four and a half years, which have not been easy at all”.

Police, Partygoers Clash Overnight at Unauthorized Rave in Western France

Five police officers were injured overnight in western France as they broke up a 1,500-strong illegal rave, authorities said Saturday, with one party-goer losing a hand in the clashes.

Police fired teargas to disperse the crowd, who defied an 11:00 pm coronavirus curfew on Friday and just stayed on into Saturday afternoon at a race course near Redon in Brittany.

There were “very violent clashes” when 400 police intervened, local prefect Emmanuel Berthier said, adding the violence lasted more than seven hours through the night.

“An evacuation operation is underway at the site,” the prefecture tweeted later.

Police detained five men on Saturday and opened an inquiry into violence against people in positions of public authority.

Two of the five injured police officers had to be taken to the hospital in Redon, Berthier said.

The story began on 6 June when the young man went missing; two days later, his father Daniyal alerted the police about his disappearance, but nothing was done.

Germany: Muslim Migrant Murders His Wife, Invokes Sharia in Court, Says it Allows Him to Punish Her

There is domestic violence in all cultures, but only in one does it have divine sanction.

The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34

Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’“ — Sahih Muslim 2127

An another hadith states: “Rifa’a divorced his wife whereupon ‘AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. ‘Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Messenger came, Aisha said, ‘I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!’“ — Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825

Germany: ‘Right-Wing Extremist’ Who Threw Burning Bottle at Families on Playground Was Actually a Muslim Migrant

In Germany as in the United States, the Left pursues its agenda at the expense of the truth, ignoring the reality of jihad violence and wildly exaggerating a terror threat from so-called “right-wing extremists.” If the facts don’t match the narrative, alter the facts to fit the narrative.

Italy: Rome Court Convicts 4 Men for Sexual Assault, Murder of Teen

ROME (AP) — An Italian court late Saturday convicted four African men in the drugging, aggravated sexual assault and murder of an Italian teen in Rome, a crime that spurred calls in Italy for quick expulsions of migrants illegally living in in the country, state TV and private Italian media said.

After some nine hours of deliberation, the court delivered its verdict and sentenced two of the defendants to life imprisonment, Italy’s stiffest criminal punishment, and meted out prison sentences of 27 and 24.5 years to the other two, the LaPresse news agency said.

The body of Desiree Mariottini, 16, was found in October 2018 in an abandoned building used by drug dealers in a neighborhood near Rome’s main train station. When arrested, the suspects were found to be lacking documents granting permission for migrants to legally reside in Italy.

  1. Maybe the rest of sane society could ban those who have been to a Springsteen “concert” for their lack of taste in music.

I have never understood his popularity or association with patriotism. Ever since I first truly listened to the lyrics of his “Born in the USA” rag I have known that the guy is 100% a douche and nothing I have heard of him in the news since has convinced me otherwise.

    • Springsteen was huge, because of his carefully cultivated Jersey Shore personna, but, he sold out. In retrospect, I wonder if he was ever authentic.

    • I saw him in concert many years ago. But that [epithet] is a liberal con artist and he suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
