A Bloomberg report suggesting Biden will pay for some of his “infrastructure” bill by doubling the capital gains tax for high income Americans sparked some brief unrest in US equity markets today…Nasdaq was the hardest hit on the day but we note that Small Caps were sold most after the Biden headline…

Americans on Jobless Benefits Jumps Back Above 17 Million as Initial Claims Dip

After tumbling to pandemic lows the previous week, thanks to a collapse in California claims (that suggested fraud/systemic issues and not economic improvements), analysts expected some give back last week, but they were wrong as the number of Americans filing for first time jobless claims plunged to 547k — a new pandemic low.

Texas and New York saw the biggest drops in claimants as Virginia and Inidiana saw the biggest rise…

“State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth”: House Democrats Approve D.C. As the 51st State

Authored by Jonathan Turley

The House Democrats, with the support of President Joe Biden, have just voted (perfectly along party lines) to approve the establishment of the “State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth” as our 51st state today.

I had testified and written about D.C. statehood for decades and, as noted in a recent column, I believe that the best interests of both the country and the district residents is found in retrocession, not statehood.

Alleged Iranian Agent Has Been Writing Opinion for the New York Times on Iran, And They Still Haven’t Fully Disclosed His Ties

Despite it being four months since a New York Times opinion contributor was arrested on charges of operating as an Iranian agent, the Times has not immediately appended a note on the articles under the bylines of the accused, warning readers of his alleged unlawful ties.

Kaveh Lotfolah Afrasiabi, a political scientist who resides in the United States, was arrested Jan. 18 on charges of “acting and conspiring to act as an unregistered agent of … Iran, in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA),” according to the Department of Justice, as previously reported. FARA mandates that agents of foreign countries engaged in political activity in the U.S. must regularly disclose their relationship.

Columbus Shooting: Protesters Call for Abolition, Defunding of Police, Reports Say

Second night of demonstrations held after Ma’Khia Bryant’s death

Protesters gathered again in Columbus, Ohio, to demonstrate against the fatal officer-involved shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant, chanting her name and calling for the defunding of the city’s police department, reports say.

The 16-year-old appeared to attack two other females with a knife on Tuesday before police officer Nicholas Rearden discharged his firearm, fatally striking her, body camera footage shows. Rearden, who has been on the force since December 2019, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

The demonstrations began Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Ohio State University, where organizers told a crowd of more than 400 people that the protest was for the abolition of police, student newspaper The Lantern reported…

FBI Used Facial Recognition and Instagram to Track Down Capitol Rioter’s Identity

Social media is increasingly being used to track down suspects.

How to Switch to a More Private Email Provider

The rise of Big Tech companies and their increasingly pervasive surveillance of our online lives has led to increased demand for privacy-focused alternatives to Gmail, Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail and live.com), and Yahoo Mail.

While several viable alternatives exist, one of the major obstacles people face when they’re considering ditching these Big Tech email providers is that they don’t want to lose all of their emails when they make the switch.

Fortunately, it’s relatively quick and easy to export your data from one of these Big Tech email providers and transfer it to a new provider.

Lawsuits Against Robinhood in the GameStop Saga Are Getting Their Day in Court — But There’s One Big Snag

When Robinhood suddenly set buying restrictions at the height of the GameStop trading frenzy in the early months of 2021, users reacted with fury.

Now, the legal journey begins in earnest on Monday for those angry investors.

April 19 marked the initial court date following a judicial panel’s decision to bunch together nearly 40 lawsuits — and possibly more — in front of one Miami federal judge who will handle the “multi-district litigation.” The Zoom ZM, +0.30% call had nearly 140 lawyers and other attendees listening, according to the count from one court staff assisting with logistics.

But there is one big snag: If these plaintiffs think investment decisions are complicated and don’t like sluggish responses to their decisions, well, experts say, they ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

‘Loot for Justice’: BLM Agitators Target Stores in California

BLM agitators tried to organize a ‘loot for justice’ event by targeting a shopping mall in California, prompting a police response.

The planned looting was a response to the police killing of Ma’Khia Bryant, who was shot dead by a cop in Columbus, Ohio after she tried to stab two other people.

Leftists have lied about the incident in an effort to create another George Floyd moment, when in reality the responding officer literally saved the lives of two African-American women.

Seeking an opportunity to exploit the incident for more rampant criminality, BLM extremists tried to organize a “loot until justice is served” shopping spree last night at the Bayfair Center shopping mall near Oakland.

Murder Rates Soar Dramatically in Cities After BLM Protests With Up to 6,000 Extra Deaths Nationwide — Massively Outweighing the Decline in Police Shootings, Researcher Finds

A researcher has found that cities that had Black Lives Matter protests saw a significant decrease in police homicides, but a huge overall increase in murders.

Travis Campbell, an economics PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts, published his findings in a recent pre-print study examining the impact of BLM protests on police use-of-force incidents.

His analysis, which is still undergoing peer-review, found that cities with BLM protests had 15 to 20 percent fewer police homicides than expected if the protests had not taken place, equating to 300 fewer police killings nationwide over five years.

Czechs Work Hundreds of Hours More a Year Than Germans

Reducing working hours is a trend that keeps spreading in developed European countries, and while the Czech Republic is expected to join this trend at some point in the future, Czechs currently work hundreds of hours a year more than Germans.

The most productive economies have a relatively short working week. In first place for productivity are Luxembourgers who work an average of 29 hours a week. In third are Norwegians, in sixth are Danes, and ninth spot goes to the Dutch who work a little over 27 hours.

Workers in richer countries tend to work fewer hours than those in poorer countries due to the fact that in richer countries, workers can produce more for every hour of work, which translates into higher incomes and the ability to work less.

Czechia: Former Prague Imam Sentenced to 14.5 Years in Prison for Financing Terrorism

Former Prague imam Samer Shehadeh will serve 14.5 years in prison for helping to commit a terrorist attack and finance terrorism. Shehadeh was already sentenced to a ten-year sentence last year for similar crimes, so this decision will extend his prison sentence by 4.5 years.

Thirty-seven-year-old Shehadeh confessed to the act. He said that he did not regret it because he considered it right.

“I’m not a terrorist,” he said. He added that he was only trying to fight against the criminal regime in Syria, which he says is committing genocide in the country. The man faced up to 20 years in prison for possible help with the terrorist attack.

EU Cancels Shipments of 300 Million AstraZeneca and J&J Vaccines

The European Union has canceled the order of 300 million extra doses of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and are set to replace the lost doses with Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines, news portal Mandiner wrote based on a Wednesday report by Reuters news agency.

The European Commission reached an agreement with Johnson & Johnson on Oct. 8 to procure 200 million doses of the vaccine, with the option to purchase an additional 200 million doses. They also reached an agreement with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca on Aug. 14 to purchase 300 million doses of coronavirus vaccine with a clause allowing EU member states to purchase an additional 100 million doses of vaccine.

French President Macron Seeks to Reassure Angry, Disappointed Jewish Community After Top Court Decides Against Trial of Accused Antisemitic Killer

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a change in his country’s laws on criminal responsibility, following last week’s decision by France’s highest appeal court to excuse from trial the accused antisemitic murderer of a Jewish woman on the ground that his intake of cannabis supposedly rendered him temporarily insane on the night of the killing.

Speaking to the newspaper Le Figaro on Sunday, the French president was asked about last Wednesday’s decision by the Court of Cassation not to try Kobili Traore for the brutal murder of Sarah Halimi in April 2017. The court argued that since Traore had imbibed what it termed an “acute delirious puff” on a marijuana joint that eliminated his “discernment” — or self-awareness — he could not “be judged criminally even when his mental state was caused by the regular consumption of drugs.”

What’s more, one of the banks, mBank, has described wages, which increased the 8 percent year-to-year in March, as “skyrocketing”, with average salaries in this month have amounted to more than 5,900 PLN gross (ca. €1,300).

Zemmour: ‘Islamo-Leftism Means Making Muslims the New Revolutionary Base to Replace the French Proletariat. Before, The Enemy Was the Bourgeois, Today it is the White Man’

French author, polemicist, and anti-liberal philosopher Eric Zemmour has drawn a parallel between “Islamo-leftists” and communists, asserting that the former have substituted their arch nemesis, the bourgeois, with White people — whom they would like to see replaced by the “Muslim proletariat”.

Zemmour, one of the preeminent thinkers on the French right, contends that the new political alliance formed between Islamists and leftists, called Islamo-leftism in France, is nothing less than the communist movement of the 21st century, the political magazine Valeurs Actuelles reports.

French philosopher Pascal Bruckner has described Islamo-leftism as “the fusion between the atheist Far-Left and religious radicalism”. For Bruckner, many on the far-left aim to use Islamism as a “battering ram” to take down capitalism and cancel individual rights. On the other hand, Bruckner asserts that Islamists — purely as a tactical means to carry out their true goal of instituting an Islamist totalitarian theocratic government — pretend like they’ve joined the ranks of the left in its opposition to capitalism and racism.

PA: Munich Olympics Massacre Planners Presented “Spectacular Aspects of Pride, Glory, And Loyalty”

The PA never tires of celebrating their most lethal terror attacks against Israel and praising the “masterminds” behind them. One such attack is the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972.

Official PA TV News mourned the death of the “most prominent leaders of the Palestinian revolution,” Abu Yusuf Al-Najjar, Kamal Nasser, and Kamal Adwan — three members of the Black September terror organization — the group responsible for planning and carrying out the Munich Olympics massacre. The three were killed by Israel in the year following the attack. PA TV News said the life stories of the three “commanders” “emit a pleasant aroma” and that the “death as Martyrs” of the three terrorists “presented the most spectacular aspects of pride, glory, and loyalty”.

Officials: Biden Preparing to Recognize Armenian Genocide

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is preparing to formally acknowledge that the systematic killing and deportation of hundreds of thousands of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in modern-day Turkey more than a century ago was genocide, according to U.S. officials.

The anticipated move — something Biden had pledged to do as a candidate — could further complicate an already tense relationship with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Administration officials had not informed Turkey as of Wednesday, and Biden could still change his mind, according to one official. The U.S. officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

Lawmakers and Armenian-American activists are lobbying Biden to make the announcement on or before Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, which will be marked on Saturday.

China’s Fishing Fleet is Vacuuming the Oceans

Communist China seems increasingly to be depleting the world’s oceans of marine life. The country has by far the world’s largest fishing fleet of anywhere between 200,000 to 800,000 fishing boats — accounting for nearly half of the world’s fishing activity — approximately 17,000 of which belong to its distant-water fishing fleet. The growth has been made possible by enormous state subsidies. In 2012, for instance, the Chinese state poured $3.2 billion in subsidies into its fishing sector, most of it for fuel. However, according to a report from 2012, “government support for the fishing and aquaculture sector could be as much as CNY 500 billion (USD 80.2 billion, EUR 61.7 billion) when regional and national subsidies for rural-based fish farmers are taken into account.”

Germany: Police Admit to Illegally Harassing Grieving Father Whose Son Was Killed by Syrian Asylum Seeker

Police in Germany have admitted to using illegal methods to protect a Syrian asylum seeker who had received probation and community service for the killing of a local German man, including harassing the victim’s grieving father and suggesting that he posed a threat to the migrant.

According to a report from German news portal Focus Online, police in Dessau-Roßlau — a town of 80,000 in the state of Saxony-Anhalt — have admitted to using illegal methods against Karsten Hempel, aged 56, whose 30-year-old son Marcus Hempel was murdered in an assault by a Syrian asylum seeker in broad daylight on the streets of Wittenberg in 2017, insinuating — without evidence — that the grieving father was planning to take revenge on the migrant.

The Syrian perpetrator, Sabri H., was convicted — not for murder or for manslaughter — but for “bodily harm resulting in death” in March 2020, and was sentenced to just two years of probation and 120 hours of community service. The juvenile criminal chamber at the Magdeburg District Court considered the sentence to be adequate because Sabri H. was just 17-years-old at the time. The migrant arrived in Germany in 2015 as an unaccompanied minor but now lives with his parents and siblings after they used family reunification laws in Germany to migrate.

One of the victims, a 27-year-old man died in hospital soon afterwards, while the other is in serious condition.

Christian College Sues Biden Administration for Ordering Them to Place Biological Men in Female Dorms

The College of the Ozarks, a Christian liberal arts college in Missouri, has filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over the government’s expectation that religious schools open dorms and showers on the basis of students’ self-determined gender identity.

The Biden administration issued a directive months ago that any institution receiving federal dollars under the Fair Housing Act must assign biological men to women’s dorms and give them female roommates if they self-identify as female.

The College of the Ozarks argues in its suit that doing so would violate the school’s moral and religious beliefs.

Democracy Without Values? A ‘Dictatorship of Relativism’ Is Rising, Warns Polish History Professor

Professor Grzegorz Kucharczyk warned in an interview for Catholic television “Trwam”, that there has been a rise in signs that democracy without values is turning into a system in which there is increasingly less freedom. He referred to the words of pope Benedict XVI who called this phenomenon a ‘dictatorship of relativism’.

“When political currents which worship relativism (the conviction that everyone has their own truth and there is no such thing as objective truth) appear, then human freedom becomes the first victim,” Benedict XVI said.

  1. “The most productive economies have a relatively short working week. In first place for productivity are Luxembourgers who work an average of 29 hours a week. In third are Norwegians, in sixth are Danes, and ninth spot goes to the Dutch who work a little over 27 hours.”

I have worked both in Norway and in Danmark, and I would say that the tale of high efficiency of the western worker is a long past history: If by any chance the value of western money goes significantly down, then millions of Poles, and hundreds of thousands of Czechoslovaks and Hungarians and Serbians will no longer make two or three times as much money as they would back home – the highly efficient western worker is in for a big big surprise.

Czech Crown has been held down artificially by the central banks preventing Czechs to ever grow richer, that’s a fact.

  2. Lets make a democratic plebiscite. Every part of town may decide if they want a police force or not.
Then build walls between those parts of town that want a police force and those that dont.
And then watch how the law of the jungle takes over.
    And keep your popcorn ready.

  3. As far as policing is concerned, my opinion: screen all emergency calls in blue cities as to race/color of skin and send out police of the same race. (911 what is your emergency? What is your race? What do you identity as? This is needed so we send out the proper response team) Sure it might add to the response time but would remove any risk of white cop killing black perp. Also make sure the police always are in mixed race teams to allow same race interactions. Maybe make it three …add in a transgender. Hmm… Additionally, in those cities where BLM/liberals are calling for defunding the cops, I say go ahead. Do it. And live with the consequences and don’t call for federal funding to bail them out when things go to hell in a handbasket.
I used to think that eventually the normal law abiding folks would have enough of being bullied and stage their own protests but now think I am living in the end of days of a once great country. Hard to believe and hard to watch.

  4. blacks are the criminal race in America. They commit 50% of homicides and 85% of overall crime.. If they would stop the shootings, the rapes, the killings, america would be safer. The police would not have to shoot them if they would stop their behavior. and BLM is a terrorist organization.
