Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak Economies Proved Resilient to Pandemic: Fitch Credit Rating Agency

The economies in Central and Eastern Europe, in particular the Visegrad Group (V4) of Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, and Poland, have proven to be relatively resilient to restrictions aimed at curbing the coronavirus epidemic, confirming the expectation that these economies will start to grow strongly this year despite the current third wave of epidemics, according to a recent forecast by Fitch Ratings in London on Tuesday.

The international credit rating agency highlighted its expectation that investments in the region will be given additional impetus by the financing of the €750 billion recovery fund announced by the European Union to mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic (NGEU). However, according to Fitch, most of the stimulating effects of this will be felt in 2022.

Adam Toledo: Chicago Police Release Video of Officer Shooting Boy

Chicago police have released footage of the moment one of their officers shot dead a 13-year-old boy in a dark alley.

Bodycam video shows the policeman shouting “Drop it” before shooting Adam Toledo once in the chest on 29 March.

The boy does not appear to be holding a weapon in the split second he was shot, but police video shows a handgun near the spot where he fell.

The city mayor appealed for calm before the release of the footage, as some businesses boarded up their windows.

The incident follows the fatal police shooting on 11 April of Daunte Wright by an officer in a Minneapolis suburb.

That incident has sparked violent protests as the city awaits the outcome of the trial of Derek Chauvin, the officer accused in the death of George Floyd.

Anissa Weier, One of the Women in the Slender Man Stabbing, Should be Released From a State Mental Hospital, Her Attorneys Say

Anissa Weier, one of two women institutionalized for her part in the Slender Man stabbing, should be released from a state mental hospital because she doesn’t have any violent tendencies or delusions and has “extraordinary compliance” to treatment, her attorneys recently said.

Weier is seeking conditional release nearly seven years after she and her friend — Morgan Geyser — nearly stabbed a middle school classmate to death in a Waukesha park so they could gain favor with a fictional internet horror character named Slender Man. The girls, who were 12 years old at the time, said they believed Slender Man would harm them or their families if they didn’t kill someone.

Weier, now 19 years old, is serving a 25-year commitment after a jury in 2017 found her not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to attempted second-degree intentional homicide. Weier wrote to a judge in March that she has “exhausted” all the resources available to her at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. She’s asking for a chance to be “a productive member of society…

BLM Threatens Legal Action Against One of Their Own Activists After Call for Finances Investigation

The National Black Lives Matter organisation is threatening legal action against one of its own activists after he called for an independent investigation into how finances are being spent, following revelations concerning co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors’ property spending binge, and further money raking activities.

As we highlighted yesterday, Hawk Newsome, who heads up a Black Lives Matter group in Greater New York City, made the call for an investigation, telling the New York Post “If you go around calling yourself a socialist, you have to ask how much of her own personal money is going to charitable causes.”

Newsome said “black firms and black accountants” should conduct an audit on BLM Global Network Foundation to “find out where the money is going.”

Ex-California Mayor Who Advocated for Defunding Police Arrested for Child Sex Crimes

The former mayor of Sebastopol, Cal., a progressive Democrat who voiced support for Black Lives Matter rioters and defunding police, was arrested Saturday morning over multiple felony child sex crimes.

Sebastopol Police booked 44-year-old Robert Emmanuel Jacob on 11 felony counts related to sexual assault crimes against a minor aged 14 or 15.

The charges against Jacob, who is openly gay and married as of 2019, include transportation of a child for lewd and lascivious acts, arranging a meeting for sexual purposes with a person believed to be underage, sexual penetration of a child under 16-years-old and harmful material sent with the intent to seduce a minor.

Facebook Censors Link to NY Post Story Exposing BLM Founder’s Home Buying Spree

Facebook is blocking links to a New York Post story that exposes Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors’ controversial recent home buying spree, preventing users from sharing the link publicly or via private message.

The Post article from April 10 is headlined ‘Inside BLM co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors’ million-dollar real estate buying binge’ and reveals how Khan-Cullors, a self-described Marxist, recently purchased four high-end homes for a total of $3.2 million.

As we previously highlighted, one of the homes, a $1.4 million dollar property, is located in Topanga Canyon, California, where the black population is just 1.6 per cent.

Another of the homes, a “custom ranch” located in Georgia, is surrounded by “3.2 rural acres” and features a “private airplane hangar with a studio apartment above it” in addition to an indoor swimming pool.

After one BLM activist called for an investigation into how finances were being used, other prominent figures within BLM threatened legal action against him.

Now Facebook is completely blocking users from posting a link to the original NY Post story in yet another brazen act of partisan censorship.

Florida Senate Passes Controversial ‘Anti-Riot’ Bill Pushed in Wake of Black Lives Matter Protests

The Florida Senate on Thursday passed, largely along party lines, a controversial anti-riot bill that was pushed by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

The bill aims to increase criminal penalties for assault against law enforcement while engaging in a “riot” and defacing monuments and other public property during riots. It would also penalize local governments that interfere with law enforcement attempting to contain riots and would provide a citizen’s appeal process when cities and counties attempt to reduce police budgets in response to riots.

What We Know About the Knoxville High-School Shooting

Police shot and killed a teenager at Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Monday, after officers responded to reports that a student potentially had a gun on campus. One of those officers was wounded in the confrontation, but contrary to what authorities said at the time, not by the student: “Preliminary examinations indicate the bullet that struck the KPD officer was not fired from the student’s handgun,” according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s updated statement.

The TBI has identified the teenager as 17-year-old Anthony J. Thompson, Jr. According to the TBI, two officers — school resource officer Adam Wilson, a “20-year veteran” of the department, per the KPD, and one other — located Thompson, who was Black, in a bathroom at Austin-East. They reportedly ordered him to come out, but he refused. “During a subsequent struggle, the student’s gun was fired,” the TBI statement says. “This was followed by law enforcement firing twice.”

That’s a different version of events than the one the Knoxville Police Department and the TBI initially presented. Per NBC, TBI director David Rausch first said Thompson fired his gun twice, hitting Wilson and prompting one officer to return fire. It’s still not clear whether or not Thompson brought the gun to school with the intention of using it.

On Monday, as police and school officials declined to answer questions from reporters, Knoxville mayor Indya Kincannon said the officer was “conscious” and “going to be okay.” He reportedly underwent surgery on his hip at UT Medical Center and is recovering…

Austria: Imam and Other Mosque Preacher Accused of Supporting the Islamic State

This is the Age of Absurdity, and one of the foremost absurdities of it is that we are all commanded to believe that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism, and that properly understood, it’s a religion of peace. Never mind the numerous exhortations to violence against unbelievers in the Qur’an. Never mind the numerous Muslim clerics, men who have devoted their lives to understanding Islam properly and communicating it effectively, who have been involved in jihad activity. No, none of that is relevant, and only “racist,” “bigoted” “Islamophobes” think otherwise. It’s a funhouse world, run by clowns who think they’re professors (well, in many cases they are professors): half-wits, cowards, trimmers and liars accepted and honored as “experts,” while those who tell the truth are vilified and will soon be completely silenced. Stories like the one below would be funny if the consequences weren’t so lethal: here is a Muslim cleric who is acting on the teachings of Islam, and is telling the tallest tales and most obvious lies to prosecutors, knowing that they’re so eager to be fooled, it just might work. And indeed it might. Austrian authorities, like authorities all over the West, are so eager to believe that Islam is a religion of peace that has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism that they will swallow the wildest implausibilities to avoid facing the prospect of a man versed in his religion acting upon his religion’s violent tenets, tenets which they steadfastly deny exist at all.

Germany: Muslim Mother Kills Her Four-Year-Old Son to Keep Him From Being Raised as a Christian

In the Qur’an, a mysterious figure, known as Khidr in Islamic tradition, kills a boy in an apparently random and gratuitous attack. He then explains: “And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.” (18:80-81)

Muslim Murders Swede, Flees Sweden for Lebanon, Mocks ‘Infidels, ‘ Says Police Won’t Find Him, ‘Inshallah’

Here is yet another illustration of the prevailing insanity. You don’t have to be in Sweden to know that the Swedish press was full of stories insisting that Issa El Chaer’s crime had nothing to do with his religion, and that only “bigots” and “racists” would dare consider the possibility that their might be a connection. Then he goes on Flashback and mocks “infidels” while trusting his ability to elude the cops to Allah. The Western world, in its denial and willful ignorance, is collectively insane. Why does it matter whether or not Issa El Chaer was at least in part motivated by Islam’s contempt for infidels and exhortations to do them physical harm? Because there might be others in like him, in Sweden and elsewhere in the West. This really isn’t hard. It’s just that the truth is covered over with a thick fog of misinformation and disinformation.

“Murderer on the run in the Arab world mocks ‘infidel’ Swedes,” translated from “Mördare på flykt i arabvärlden hånar ‘otrogna’ svenskar,” Fria Tider, April 11, 2021 (thanks to The Religion of Peace).

Nearly 25% of UK ‘COVID Deaths’ Were Not Directly Caused by Virus

As the people of England and Wales celebrate the end — or at least the beginning of the end — of the COVID restrictions that have stifled the economy for more than a year, new data from the Office of National Statistics have illustrated a startling conclusion: nearly 25% of registered COVID-19 deaths actually aren’t being killed by the virus, something that we have been discussing here at Zero Hedge since we first pointed out that motorcycle accident deaths were being labeled “COVID deaths” in Florida.

This time, it’s not just accident deaths, but deaths of all kinds, that have been unduly counted in Britain’s COVID death numbers. As the Daily Mail put it, many of the coronavirus deaths which are registered are now people who have died “with” the disease rather than “from” an infection. Dying “with” COVID can land somebody’s death counted in the official data even if COVID isn’t listed as the primary cause of death on their death certificate.

Poland: Court Blocks PKM Orlen’s Acquisition of Regional Press in Blow to United Right

On March 5, the courts in Poland permitted state energy giant PKN Orlen to acquire Polska Press, the largest regional press group in the country, which previously belonged to the German holding Verlagsgruppe Passau until March 2021 before it was bought by PKN Orlen.

PKN Orlen’s purchase of the publisher was also confirmed by decision of the antitrust body Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

Earlier this week, the office of the Polish Ombudsman or Human Rights Commissioner Adam Bodnar suddenly announced that the Warsaw District Court has considered his office’s motion against the acquisition and halted the takeover of the media group.

PKN Orlen has a number of options to move forward with the acquisition, but even if the halt proves to only be temporarily, it will serve as a roadblock in the government’s efforts to ensure a higher share of Polish ownership of the country’s press. The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) had expressed concern for years that the country’s press was in the hands of foreign owners, particularly German companies, while at the same time, Germany’s own laws tightly restricted foreign ownership of its own press.

UK Councils Bring Back ‘COVID Marshals’ To Report People for Not Social Distancing

UK council authorities are putting more ‘COVID marshals’ onto the streets to report people to the police for not properly social distancing.

After the government lifted some lockdown restrictions on Monday, bars and restaurants were allowed to open outside.

This prompted the media to once again hysterically point to footage of people daring to enjoy themselves in order to whip up another contrived panic over a ‘4th wave’ of the virus returning despite Britain having one of the lowest case rates in the world amongst major countries.

India: Constant ‘Beheading’ Threats by Islamists: Hindus Come Out in Large Numbers to Support Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, Demand Security for Him

For more than a week, Muslim hardliners in various cities have been protesting against Dasna Devi Temple’s head priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati for his statements against Muhammad. Endless calls for the beheading of the priest have been made by several Muslim groups and even mainstream political parties for his alleged ‘blasphemy’.

Yesterday, the Kanpur unit of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) had put up incendiary ‘sar tan se juda’ posters with gory images, calling for the beheading of Narsinghanand Saraswati and Wasim Rizvi. Another despicable poster had a dog and a child urinating on Narsinghanand Saraswati. Similarly, videos surfaced where young Muslim children could be seen calling for the beheading of the priest on open streets.

Enraged by the Islamic fanatics openly calling for murder under religious and political sanction, Hindus from various corners of the country are now coming together in large numbers to voice their support for Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati.

Hong Kong Protests: Trio’s Mere Presence at National Day Unrest Makes Them Guilty of Rioting, Judge Rules

Three people arrested during an anti-government protest in 2019 have been convicted of rioting, despite a lack of evidence pointing to any violent act, after the judge found their presence and attire had “abetted” others and made it difficult for police to enforce the law.

Judge Ernest Michael Lin Kam-hung found the trio guilty on Thursday by citing a Court of Appeal ruling last month, which upheld prosecutors’ wide power of indicting suspects who did not directly take part in a riot under the legal principle of “joint enterprise”.

Lin also convicted a fourth defendant of rioting and arson after identifying him as the man captured on camera hurling objects at police and burning a banner on the street on the day in question.

Hong Kong Journalist Who Embarrassed the Who Over Its CCP-Bias Quits After Harassment and Doxing

Yvonne Tong, a Hong Kong journalist who rose to sudden fame after questioning the WHO about Taiwanese independence and, in the process, proving the extent of control China has over the international organization, has now quit her job from RTHK.

The Hong Kong Free Press is under the impression that Tong may have quit her job as she grew unsure of the broadcaster’s editorial independence, especially after being reprimanded by the Chinese government.

What’s more, she even came under attack as people doxxed her and harassed her online, with most activity happening across pro-Beijing websites.

NGO Rescue Ship Caught Demanding €10,000 Per Migrant

Further proof of the increasingly lucrative migrant rescue business and ties between so-called human rights charities and organized people smuggling gangs has been revealed by Italian prosecutors. On March 1, Italian police have launched an investigation against the Italian based NGO Mediterranea Saving Humans (MSH), accusing them of charging large amounts of money for taking 27 boat migrants on board from the Danish-registered ship Maersk Etienne.

According to the Ragusa public prosecutor’s statement, the people smuggling NGO had violated the law by aiding illegal immigration and acted against the maritime navigation code. The rescue ship Mare Jonio allegedly demanded €10,000 from the Danish ship for each passenger taken from onboard their vessel. The Maersk tanker had earlier picked up 27 illegal migrants floating in a boat, and the Maersk tanker’s owners would have been charged a total of €270,000 if they had agreed to these terms. Eventually, the sum of €125,000 was transferred by Maersk onto the NGO’s bank account.

Argentinian Pro-Abortion Leader Dies During Abortion Procedure

Spanish language media reported last Sunday that radical pro-abortion supporter Maria de Valle Gonzalez Lopez died during what she labeled her “dream” abortion operation. She was 23 years old and was the leader of the Radical Youth in the La Paz municipality in the province of Mendoza. Her death has sparked a fierce debate about abortion in Argentina and led for calls for women to know that the procedure can sometimes carry serious risks.

On April 11, the woman underwent a legal abortion procedure in a local hospital. The operation turned out to be fatal for her. This fact came as a shock to the public as this was the first recorded death following the approval of the country’s controversial pro-abortion bill passed on December 30, 2020, which legalized abortion in some cases. Previously, abortion was illegal in the predominately Catholic country.
