Shortly after the joke cryptocurrency DogeCoin soared 800% after Elon Musk tweeted the image of a dog which his followers interpreted as an endorsement of the farcical crypto, just around 420am ET, the world’s richest man singlehandedly pushed bitcoin up by 15%, boosting its market cap by around $80 billion, with a single tweet: “In retrospect, it was inevitable”

Facebook Deletes Robin Hood Stock Traders Group With Over 150,000 Members
Facebook has shut down the Robin Hood Stock Traders group that has some 157,000 members, in the middle of a trading war between individual investors and hedge funds.
Centering around companies like GameStop and AMC, whose stock hedge funds have been shorting convinced they would lose value, this “war” is for the moment being lost by them because individuals are coordinating online, buying these shares and driving the prices up.

GameStop Stock Short Seller Losses Total More Than $19b, Data Firm Says
GameStop short-sellers’ losses are soaring with the stock’s price.
Short sellers were facing more than $19 billion in combined losses on GameStop as of Friday morning, according to an estimate provided to Fox Business by financial data service Ortex.
Those losses have been driven primarily by retail investors on Reddit’s WallStreetBets subreddit who propelled GameStop’s stock price more than 1,700% since the start of the year, squeezing short-sellers.

GameStop Squeeze Was Helped by 34 Year Old YouTubing CFA Who Turned $50,000 Into $48 Million
A YouTube streamer that helped garner attention to the run up in GameStop shares has turned out to be a 34 year old financial advisor who formerly worked for Mass Mutual.
The “Roaring Kitty” YouTube stream, along with now-Reddit legend “DeepF*ckingValue”, helped bring a “flood” of retail traders into GameStop, Reuters reported on Friday. The “Roaring Kitty” YouTube account belongs to Keith Patrick Gill, the report said.
His channel constantly posted videos, like the one below, making the bull case for owning GameStop leading up to the retailer’s parabolic ascent.

Reddit Rebels’ Stock Shenanigans Just Took a Heartwarming Turn
The week’s most bizarre, hilarious, and amazing story just took another crazy turn. Reddit’s rebels may have just saved AMC Theatres from more than half a billion in debt.
The theater chain, like pretty much all theater chains, has been ripped by the COVID pandemic. It’s difficult to remember, since “two weeks to flatten the curve” turned into “we’re never ever ever getting back to normal,” but theater chains were enjoying something of a revival in late 2019 and early 2020. Theaters had decked themselves out with comfortable chairs and dinner tables, and served quality food and drinks to go with the movie. A night out at the movies was great again.
Then COVID struck and no one could go to the movies. One summer COVID weekend several months into that “two weeks” thing, The Empire Strikes Back returned to dominate a very terrible, no-good-at-all box office. And that was at a drive-in theater.
AMC Theatres was just about dead as of Monday of this week. But along with GameStop and BlackBerry, Reddit’s r/wallstreetbets (WSB) targeted AMC’s stock for a revival. “We like the stock,” they said.
It worked.

Robinhood Faces Backlash From Both Parties for Limiting Trades
Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers are criticizing stock trading app Robinhood’s Thursday decision to block users from buying or trading stocks popular on a Reddit forum, including GameStop, AMC and BlackBerry.
The decision followed efforts by users on the r/WallStreetBets forum to drive up prices of stocks that had been shorted by traditional hedge funds.
In one tweet, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) included a questioning face emoji along with a 2016 screenshot of a tweet from Robinhood that read, “Let the people trade.”

Robinhood Caps Maximum Holdings in 36 Stocks to Just One Share
Something bad is about to go down at Robinhood.
One day after the company drew down on its bank lines and obtain a $1 billion rescue capital investment, the company found itself in lockdown mode, allowing just a handful of shares to be bought at a time, effectively shutting down in all but name (it couldn’t risk another day of furious public outcry and massive client departures if it blocked trading completely).
However, just before the close, things got downright surreal when in a blog post the broker — which should probably change its name from Robinhood to Suit — made a shocking announcement: going forward, customers will be subject to maximum aggregate limits in 51 securities of which 14 are capped at position limits of just 5 shares, while allowing total holdings in 36 securities to be just one share!

Robinhood CEO: We Cannot Control “Misinformation” Spreading Online
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev is incorporating the popular notion of online “misinformation” into his narrative as he is trying to explain and defend the controversial decision to suspend trading of GameStop, AMC, and several other stocks on Thursday.
Some of the individual traders who this last week rallied the companies’ price via social media and forums made tens of thousands of dollars using apps like Robinhood, but hedge funds and institutional investors who had been betting against them lost billions.
Pressure then started to mount from many sides to “correct” this situation and allow big players to recuperate some of those losses. Now some unhappy Robinhood customers suspect that preventing users from buying stocks from 13 companies for one day on Thursday was a play to help just that happen.

It was only a matter of time before the SEC stepped in to “protect” investors from making money and ramming Wall Street’s own strategies up its behind, and moments ago the world’s most useless regulator published a statement in response to the short squeeze mania that has gripped markets.
The Commission said it will closely review actions taken by regulated entities that may disadvantage investors or otherwise unduly inhibit their ability to trade certain securities. Translation: any extreme shorts that hurt the hedge funds that are our close friends will likely soon be banned.
“We will act to protect retail investors when the facts demonstrate abusive or manipulative trading activity that is prohibited by the federal securities laws,” SEC Acting Chair Allison Herren Lee and Commissioners Hester M. Peirce, Elad L. Roisman and Caroline A. Crenshaw said in a statement on the commission’s website.

Senator Elizabeth Warren Sides With Hedge Funds, Calls for SEC to Investigate Reddit
Senator Elizabeth Warren is demanding that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigate whether the impact Reddit, online message boards, and “broader social media amplification” had on the price of GameStop stock is in violation of existing securities laws.
The price of several stocks, including GameStop, were driven to new highs this week after being boosted by conversations in online communities such as WallStreetBets. Many of the retail traders who bought these stocks were big winners but hedge funds that had shorted these stocks and attempted to profit from the stock price going lower took huge losses.
While some mainstream media outlets have attempted to frame these posts about stocks in Reddit communities as “market manipulation,” experts have argued that this is not the case.

The probes and lawsuits are coming.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent out a Civil Investigative Demand to 13 entities, including Robinhood and Citadel, regarding the “suspension of stock trading and investing” requiring higher margin reserves for trading certain companies and suspending chat platform activity.
Other names which were also issued CIDs include Discord, Robinhood Markets, Robinhood Securities, Interactive Brokers, TD Ameritrade, TD Bank, E-Trade, WeBull Financial, Public Holdings, M1 Holdings, Citadel Financial, and Apex Clearing.
“Wall Street corporations cannot limit public access to the free market, nor should they censor discussion surrounding it, particularly for their own benefit. This apparent coordination between hedge funds, trading platforms, and web servers to shut down threats to their market dominance is shockingly unprecedented and wrong. It stinks of corruption,” said Attorney General Paxton.

This morning we reported that the two ‘auditors’ selected in Arizona by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to perform an ‘audit’ of its 2020 election results had some notable issues.
The Maricopa Board of Supervisors limited their choices to two companies Pro V&V and SLI Compliance.
Pro V&V was also selected by Georgia’s corrupt Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for a recent sham audit there. Secretary of State Raffensperger used Dominion-linked Pro V&V, an Alabama-based testing laboratory, to do the Georgia audit of the Dominion machines.
We know that Pro V&V has only three company contacts and has been in business since 2011. The President of Pro V&B is Jack Cobb. Cobb has been called in to perform audits for Dominion in the past. He performed one audit in the Philippines in 2019, but he referred to himself as the ‘Laboratory Director’ during this engagement. Pro V&V once had a certificate of accreditation from the USEAC but it expired in 2017. (No recent accreditation was noted on its website.)

Israel is the world leader in COVID-19 vaccinations. By late January, more than 85 percent of Israelis over the age of 60 had completed the two-round vaccination process. If the vaccination drive continues apace, Israel will have completed the vaccination of its adult population by mid-March.
Many observers watch Israel’s breakneck vaccination drive with admiration. But several powerful anti-Semites are using Israel’s unmatched efforts to protect its population from the pandemic as a basis for spreading a new blood libel against the Jewish state.

Israel hasn’t vaccinated the Palestinians for the same reason it hasn’t vaccinated the Egyptians or the French. Campus Reform exclusively obtained the 2016 renewal agreement between the State University of New York and the Confucius Institute Headquarters of China through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The ‘‘documents regarding the Confucius Institute for Business at the State University of New York reveals an inside look into the influence of China on SUNY.
The document, written in both Chinese and English, states that the goal of the agreement is to “strengthen educational cooperation between China and the United States, support and promote the development of Chinese language education, and increase mutual understanding among people in China and in the United States.”
According to the document, the institute serves to teach the Chinese language; provide training on Chinese business, trade, and finance; and provide consultative services concerning China’s education, culture, and other services.
Under the activities section, there is an “other” section that is unspecified but allowed “with authorization and by appointment of the headquarters.”

Google Blocked Ads From Legal Group Opposing Democrats’ Supreme Court-Packing Plan
Google blocked the advertisements of a legal group that opposes President Joe Biden and the Democrats’ plan to pack the courts with additional seats, a Big Tech move that the bipartisan organization labeled as “bizarre.”
Keep Nine, which consists of former politicians and attorneys general, first took out advertisements to advocate for the preservation of nine nonpartisan justices on the United States Supreme Court. Oxfam: Rich Got Even Richer During Coronavirus Pandemic
The combined wealth of the world’s ten richest people has shown enormous growth of over €540 billion during the coronavirus pandemic, Oxfam International, an organization that monitors social and economic inequalities, said in its latest report.
In their report, they note that this wealth alone would be enough to cover global vaccine needs. At the same time, the amount of money the top 1 percent made during the epidemic is roughly the same as the total funds used by the G20 to fight the virus.
Oxfam encourages governments around the world to consider more efficient taxation of the super-rich. The NGO always schedules the publication of its annual report ahead of the World Economic Conference in Davos.

Trump-hater Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, serves as the Republican House Conference Chair — the third-highest Republican position in the US House of Representatives.

Earlier today the Robinhood trading app blocked trading of GME stocks citing “market volatility” as its reason for delisting support for securities including GameStop, AMC, Blackberry and Nokia.
The Wall Street hedge funds were going bust and thousands of small-time investors were making too much money.
As MSN Money reported the move sparked outrage on Twitter and the Reddit community r/WallStreetBets, which was at the center of a stock-trading storm this week after its members poured money into the retail company GameStop in order to disrupt hedge fund short sellers.

Texas University Tells Students to Wear Masks During Masturbation
A Texas University suggested in a series of tweets that students should wear face masks during masturbation, even quipping that they should ‘mask-urbate’.
The University of North Texas’s Student Health and Wellness Center fired out the tweets, which have since been deleted because they offered advice contrary to that of the school’s guidelines on coronavirus, according to Campus Reform.
One of the tweets declared “Mask-urbate?! Read below to learn more,” with an accompanying image suggesting that any students with COVID symptoms should “skip sex and stay in.”

Troll Applies Maxine Waters’ “Not Welcome” Quote to Cuomo, Democrats Freak Out About “Violence”
A Twitter troll edited Maxine Waters’ comments in which she urged people to harass Trump officials by applying them to Governor Andrew Cuomo, prompting top Democrats to freak out about “violence.”
Waters originally made the comments in June 2018 when she told a boisterous crowd, “Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. The “culling” of social media accounts belonging to former members of the Trump administration continues, the latest being the Twitter account of Peter Navarro, former White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy.
Navarro is a vocal critic of censorship happening on these corporate centralized social platforms, and he told Fox News that the continued removal of accounts was premeditated action.
Although he had not posted on Twitter during the last two weeks, the account is now suspended for “unusual traffic,” Navarro revealed what he had been told, adding that his voice on the platform was being suppressed because of what he has to say and who he is, rather than because of anything he might have done (to violate Twitter’s rules).

Why Would Anyone Choose to Receive an Experimental COVID mRNA Injection?
The headlines and subject matter of our articles the past couple of weeks have been very somber, documenting how serious injuries and deaths are happening just shortly after people have been injected with one of the two experimental mRNA COVID injections by either Pfizer, or Moderna.

Google-owned YouTube has removed several videos on Senator Ron Johnson’s channel over coronavirus “misinformation.”
The videos that were removed featured medical professionals testifying on the effectiveness of COVID-19 treatments. One video features Dr. Pierre Kory testifying in a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican, is the chair of the senate committee.
During the hearing, Dr. Kory talked about the effectiveness of Ivermectin, an anti-parasite medication used to treat scabies and other parasitic infections, in the treatment of COVID-19.

“Non-Polish Media Should be a Rarity in Poland, ‘ Says Jaroslaw Kaczynski
Kaczynski believes that “there are many examples of freedom being limited” in democracies. He added that in the United States, all sorts of actions are being taken to limit the ability of conservatives to speak safely. The Polish deputy prime minister praised the recent takeover by Polish petrol giant PKN Orlen of some Polish regional papers from their German owner.

The Black Lives Matter movement has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel peace prize for the way its call for systemic change has spread around the world.
In his nomination papers, the Norwegian MP Petter Eide said the movement had forced countries outside the US to grapple with racism within their own societies.
“I find that one of the key challenges we have seen in America, but also in Europe and Asia, is the kind of increasing conflict based on inequality,” Eide said. “Black Lives Matter has become a very important worldwide movement to fight racial injustice.

Brussels Vaccine Crisis Shows Europe Must Leave European Union, Says Farage
Brexit chief Nigel Farage has said that the European Union’s handling of its vaccination programme shows that European nations are better off making their own decisions and should leave the bloc.
The EU, UK, and AstraZeneca have been embroiled in a dispute over the production of vaccines for the Chinese coronavirus, after the drugs company revealed yields for the European market would be lower than expected. The bloc accused AstraZeneca of sending doses intended for the EU to the UK, resulting in the European Commission ordering a raid of a vaccine production plant this week. EU Commission Presses Platforms to De-Monetise Disinformation
As part of a wider bid to clamp down on harmful content on the internet, the European Commission has urged major digital platforms to take measures to de-monetise disinformation online.
Disinformation should not occupy a “prominent place” online, said Vera Jourová, the Commission’s Vice-President for values and transparency.
If they were less visible, these types of content wouldn’t attract as much money in advertising revenue as they do now, she said on Wednesday (27 January) during a debate in the European Parliament’s civil liberties committee.
However, any decision by platforms to de-monetise online content should be made in full transparency, she added.
“Everything we want the platforms to do must be done in the way we can monitor,” Jourová said.

EU is Embarrassing Itself With Vaccine Delivery Issues
Marek Ast was commenting on the EU’s inability to force vaccine companies to adhere to previously signed agreements. So far, the companies are not paying much heed to the European Commission’s demands.
“It seems that the EU has once again shown its weakness in the face of yet another serious crisis,” he stated.
Ast explained that the EU is not a superstate and that Poland had entered the EU thinking it was an organization that could help solve different kinds of issues on an international level.
He noted that while EU authorities are eager to teach others about the rule of law, they rarely rise to challenges such as the pandemic or the migration crisis. There were no actions taken by the EU during the first pandemic wave, and a similar situation is now taking place with vaccine purchases.

The EU ordered a raid of a vaccine plant in Belgium because it did not believe AstraZeneca’s explanation for the delay in vaccine production, as the bloc continues to look for others to blame for its failures in rolling out a vaccination programme.
The European Commission, the bloc’s powerful executive arm, ordered the inspection of the Seneffe plant, 25 miles south of Brussels, on Wednesday with investigators taking samples and records from the facility for examination. Bureaucrats in the EU-capital Brussels believe that vaccines may have been sent to non-EU countries, including the UK.

A mosque in Belgium could lose its access to state subsidies after its imam made a homophobic statement on social media, according to Flemish Minister Bart Somers (Open Vld).
Somers has started the procedure to strip the Yesil Camii mosque in Houthalen-Helchteren of its state recognition, which would lead the mosque to lose access to taxpayer dollars.
The decision from Somers come after the imam of the mosque posted a homophobic message on Facebook, HLN reported.

UK: Lammy: Over Half of Young Prisoners Being Minorities Must be ‘Racial Injustice’
David Lammy, the Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, says it must be “racial injustice” that over half of under-18s in custody in Britain are Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME).

Footage has emerged revealing police officers fining 26 people who attended an illegal poker night in Birmingham on the same day £800 fines were introduced.

Hungary has every right to defend its territory from “crowds of migrants overrunning Europe, Justice Minister Judit Varga said in response to international — mainly German — media allegations that it is illegally sending migrants back to Serbia.

Italy’s Premier Testifies in Salvini Migrant Case
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte testified Thursday in a judicial case against League party leader Matteo Salvini, who is accused of illegally detaining migrants at sea two years ago while he was interior minister.
Amid a political crisis that will determine his political future, Conte appeared before a judge who has to decide whether Salvini, who is now the main leader of the center-right opposition, should face trial.
Salvini is accused of abusing his powers as then-interior minister when he blocked more than 100 migrants from disembarking from the Italian coastguard boat Gregoretti in July 2019.
At the time, Salvini was a minister of the government coalition led by Conte, which included the populist Five Star Movement.

A record number of human trafficking victims sought help from a Finland Centre tackling the issue in 2020.
A total of 123 people contacted the for the Assistance for Victims of Human Trafficking Centre last year and claimed to be victims of the trade. This figure is far higher than the year before when 70 victims sought help, which was itself an increase on the 52 reports in 2018.

Three Groups of Migrants From Afghanistan Detained in Czechia Just This Week
Since Monday, police in the Pardubice Region of northeast Czechia have detained three groups of migrants hidden in trucks traveling from the Balkans. The truck drivers claim they were not aware of their passengers.
In just four days, 14 young migrants, mostly Afghans, were detained. All three cases had the same scenario: Afghans arrived hidden in the semi-trailers of trucks from the Balkans, without the apparent knowledge of the drivers.
The first two cases took place on Monday. People driving by alerted police to migrants jumping out of the trailers in the industrial zones of Semanin near Ceska Trebova and Staré Civice near Pardubice.
They were all young men, often under the age of 18.

Priti Patel last night slammed the behaviour of migrants being held at a former army barracks, amid reports that a 100-strong group started a riot, torched buildings and threatened staff at the temporary asylum seeker site.
The Home Secretary strongly condemned the unrest at Napier Barracks in Folkestone, Kent, and police launched a probe after the disturbance, which reportedly broke out when migrants were told they would no longer be transferred to hotels following a Covid outbreak.
Ms Patel described the behaviour of those involved as ‘deeply offensive to the taxpayers of this country’ and said it was an ‘insult’ to suggest the site, formerly home to British soldiers, was ‘not good enough’ for asylum seekers.

UK: Stansted 15: Activists Who Stopped Migrant Deportation Flight Have Convictions Overturned
A group of activists who stopped a deportation flight leaving Stansted airport have had their convictions overturned by the Court of Appeal.
They had been prosecuted following a protest in March 2017, where they ultimately prevented a charter flight that was due to deport 60 individuals to Africa.
The group, known as the Stansted 15, were initially charged with aggravated trespass but the charge was changed to endangering safety at a public airport.
