Restaurant Industry Cut 372,000 Jobs in December

Restaurants shed more than 372,000 jobs in December after seven consecutive months of gains, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The BLS reported that food and drink places cut 17,400 jobs in November. However, in the December report, data was adjusted to show that restaurants gained 13,600 jobs in November.

Due to the adjustment, December marked the industry’s first decrease since losing roughly six million in March and April. In December, 9.8 million workers were on payroll compared to 12.2 million in the year-ago period. The recent decrease accounted for three-fourths of the total job loss in the leisure and hospitality category.

CNN Grounds Airport Network After 30 Years, Citing Pandemic and Streaming

The end of the service launched in 1990 was announced Tuesday in a staff memo from CNN President Jeff Zucker.

He said the decline in airline passenger traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of available streaming news video on mobile phones and other internet-connected devices led to the decision.

The ad-supported CNN Airport Network was no longer a profitable operation for the WarnerMedia unit, according to people briefed on the matter who were not authorized to comment publicly. About two dozen employees based in CNN’s Atlanta headquarters will lose their jobs with the closure.

SCOTUS Hears Case of Christian Student Barred From Sharing His Faith on College Campus

The U.S. Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments Tuesday morning in a high-level free speech case involving a Christian student who was barred from sharing his faith on his college campus.

The young man obediently got his permit to speak and went to the school’s speech zone at the appointed time but campus police stopped him from speaking for a second time. The officials told him that someone had complained about Chike’s religious speech and then threatened disciplinary action if he should continue speaking about Jesus.

Italian Government on Verge of Collapse Amid Battle Over EU COVID Relief

Under the leadership of Premier Giuseppe Conte, Italy’s government has enjoyed a degree of stability unseen in decades, as the technocratic former law professor — initially brought in to lead a government formed by two anti-establishment parties, the anti-migrant League and left-wing populist Five Star Movement — Conte has already survived the collapse of his original coalition.

When League leader Matteo Salvini withdrew from the ruling coalition back in 2019, Conte managed to stave off another election by recruiting new allies from the opposition.

Since then, Conte has led Italy through two COVID-19 lockdowns, and as the country lumbers forward, with much of its economy still paralyzed, the PM has his work cut out for him if he wants to get the country’s debt burden under control without resorting to punishing austerity measures (which, at this point, would probably spark a full-tilt revolution in the streets of Italy’s largest cities).

But as Italy staggers out of another COVID-19-induced-lockdown, the ruling coalition is once again at the point of fracture.

UK Minister: Trump Ban Shows Twitter Taking “Editorial Decisions, “ Could Mean Regulation

In the US, much is often talked about with regards to the idea of “platforms” and “publishers,” and how Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act doesn’t actually distinguish between the two. But in the UK, at least, the distinction is clear and publishers are regulated Ofcom.

Twitter’s controversial decision to ban the President of the United States is leading government ministers to wonder whether Twitter needs to be defined as a publisher and be regulated.

Twitter suspended Trump permanently, a move that justifies stricter regulations for social media platforms, according to Matt Hancock, a former culture secretary in the UK, and current government health minister. He says the suspension was an editorial decision, meaning social media companies may no longer merely communication platforms.

UK: Boris Johnson Blasts ‘Demented’ Chinese Traditional Medicine for Starting Coronavirus Crisis

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has blamed the worldwide coronavirus crisis on the “demented” ideas within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which advocates pseudoscientific herbal and natural remedies including the use of body parts of rare animals.

Speaking at a virtual One Planet Summit on Monday afternoon, the Prime Minister placed the blame of the Chinese coronavirus on the wide held belief in the communist country in TCM.

“Don’t forget that the coronavirus pandemic was the product of an imbalance in man’s relationship with the natural world,” Johnson said.

“It originates from bats or pangolins, from the demented belief that if you grind up the scales of a pangolin you will somehow become more potent or whatever it is people believe,” he said.

[Comment: It is much more likely that the coronavirus crisis started when a human-modified virus escaped from a laboratory in China.]

Indonesia: Grandfather Gets Five Years in Prison for Insulting Islam

We are well on the way to this happening here, as can be seen by the social media lynching and banning of Trump: opinions that don’t coincide with those of the political and media elites are being silenced wholesale. Also, Biden has promised to convene an Internet censorship task forceto combat “disinformation and hate speech,” which is often the appellation used for true and accurate material that shows how Islamic jihadis use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and oppression.

China Uses WeChat to Censor American Citizens

As if “homegrown” censorship carried out through major US apps and by the companies behind them wasn’t enough of a potential threat to freedom, users of China’s giant, Tencent owned WeChat, are also finding out they are censored — in the US, this time by the Chinese government.

A report in the Washington Post recently explained how the Chinese do it and managed to reach even WeChat users who live in the US. The Chinese censors are accused here of tracking and identifying content that they disagree with or is critical of the only authority that’s allowed — the Chinese Communist Party. What follows is that these users get blocked, even if they are physically located in North America.

After Its Own Censorship Spree, Twitter Complains it’s Getting Censored in Uganda

Over the last week, Twitter has engaged in one of its largest-ever US censorship campaigns. Between Friday and Monday, it suspended a staggering 70,000 accounts with that number including the high profile suspension of the President of the United States.

But while Twitter’s sweeping US censorship campaign was garnering most of the attention in US media, another political censorship story was brewing.

Earlier this week, Facebook took down several accounts that were linked to Uganda’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology for alleged “inauthentic behavior.” Twitter also took action against several accounts that it deemed to be “targeting the election in Uganda.”

Both of these Silicon Valley companies decided to take action against these accounts days before the 2021 Ugandan general election which takes place on January 14.

How COVID-19 is Changing the Future of Vaccines

  • By pushing for mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, or imposing social restrictions on those who refuse, the COVID-19 vaccine is paving the way for nonconsensual medical experimentation on the general public
  • Since the beginning of the pandemic, world leaders have warned that social distancing, mask wearing, travel restrictions and other measures will become part of our “new normal.” And, while the vaccine is sold as a way to end the pandemic and return us to normal, it cannot, since it has only been evaluated for its ability to lessen COVID-19 symptoms, not reduce the risk of infection, hospitalization or death
  • While some COVID-19 vaccines have been granted emergency use authorization, they still haven’t even completed Stage 3 clinical trials. Data for some end points won’t even be collected until 24 months after injection. As such, they are still entirely experimental
  • COVID-19 vaccines’ adverse side effects are still relatively unknown. It’s also unknown whether they might affect fertility — a real concern since the vaccine triggers your body to produce antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, and spike proteins in turn contain syncytin-homologous proteins that are essential for the formation of placenta. If a woman’s immune system starts reacting against syncytin-1, then there is a possibility she could become infertile
  • Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine contains polyethylene glycol (PEG), and studies have shown 70% of people develop antibodies against this substance. This suggests PEG may trigger fatal allergic reactions in many who receive the vaccine[…]

The threat of forcing or compelling people to become unwilling guinea pigs in an ongoing medical experiment is immoral on its face. But even the prospect of enforcing such mandates would entail the erection of a surveillance and tracking system that further threatens basic rights and liberties. After all, in order to determine who has been vaccinated … there will need to be a system for identifying and tracking each vaccine recipient. ~ James Corbett[…]

  1. Doesn’t it seem that the world is going mad? Totally bonkers? I can’t believe some of the things I read. People are just plumb loco, as they say i Kansas.

  2. Yeah, a Jesuit will pray for Biden’s success as he finances more abortions on Earth and chases the Little Sisters of the Poor through the courts again.

  3. It would seem that if banks are allowed to cease doing business with any person not engaged in illegal activity (although they may knowingly look the other way) that it is the grounds for the repeal or finding unconstitutional civil forfeiture laws.

  4. You should be careful of what you say and what you do. You will comply with the new directive or else face the consequences. If you have any questions about our ability just look at what we have done to the president with his bank accounts thus far. If he persists we will leave him penniless and homeless, so take care and behave else this happens to you as well.

    • Nothing makes a man more vicious, cruel and ruthless than when you take away everything he worked for and try to starve him.

      • tell that to the German Jews as they faced off against the Gestapo troops who were armed with submachine guns. Of course they wanted to be vicious, cruel and ruthless, but they also wanted to live. The same may be true for the rest of us if this charade continues.

        • The Jews didn’t have any guns and most knew the naxis were coming for them, but stood there like sheep in the headlights for their day of round up and to the slaughter house. Americans on the other hand are armed to the teeth infused with that rugged individualism who won’t go quietly into the night, and they are ready for a fight.

      • Western European governments and especially the UK are fast becoming “new” types of White Oriental Gentlemen. Johnson is like a gorilla. After Pelosi anything seems possible.

  5. Financial institutions, social media companies, e-commerce companies; the list of companies and industries that will shut down and shut out dissenters continues to grow, with Congress leading the charge, and the courts silent. The DOJ is unavailable for comment.

  6. Hillary Clinton Labels Trump Supporters “Domestic Terrorists” Who Need to be Tracked and Surveilled Following Chaos at US Capitol

On the contrary it is H Clinton that should charged with acts of insurection against countries in the Middle East, and against her own people, she undoubtedly one of the vipers currently inhabiting the Politics of the USA.
They the Democrats hated D Trump because he had enough money not to be influenced by the bial and cunning coming out of their mouths-they could not control him-he did a lot of good for America which has gained many supporters, however his enemies are trying to defile his name-I think they will not succeed.

    • He did let part of the government and media and business show who they really are.

The following should be a survey: If you could go back in time and vote for Hillary Clinton or Trump, who would you vote for? The one conditions is the same events in the world happen but none of Trump’s policy successes happen as it is assumed different policies would be in place.

  7. Macron on the Brink: Euroscepticism Now ‘Rampant’ In France, Ex-Diplomat Warns President.
Not surprised -Good the sooner the EU is broken up the better for all nations that are continually being ripped off by those who would see their loss of control on the horizon. The Euorpean Union is no longer fit for purpose.

    • All hail the New Rome. Be it ever so Italian, there’s no place like Rome. Merkel, you’ve had your turn, so we will celebrate the New year with a Bonn Fire.

  8. The day will come when in order to do anything or go anywhere you will have to have with you your proof of vaccination. ‘Papers, please’ or mark of the beast?
What will you do? Will you take the vaccine?
We are being slowly herded into confinement, conditioned to accept what the ‘authorities’ tell us is gospel. Our initiative and independent spirit is being eroded.
What a golden time for totalitarianism.

  9. The whole basic point is that we now have a Chinese social-credit score system, but run privately, with state connivance.

Comply, or be “unpersonned” is what it seems to be all about.

I once heard a story of someone back in the old days in Philadelphia who made the mistake of registering as a Republican, having gotten pissed off with the Dems. This story was told to me by a man now 80, about (if I remember) his uncle, when he was a child – so this probably dates back to the 50s, at the earliest.

His garbage stopped getting picked up. That’s how they sent their message across.

This is a “writ large” version of that garbage pickup problem.

  10. Bank accounts in Germany are a private affair. Taking about them publicly is absolutely illegal.

The last time the Deutsche Bank spoke openly about a client account (2002) they had to pay almost one billion dollars in damages (2014).

Mr Trump should sue them for damages.

  11. Soon the pig copper globalist commie New Gestapo will be dragging you out of your car, to do a covid test on you, then holding you down while they inject you with mRNA poison.

Are you going to allow that? Or are you going to pull out a 9 MM gun and shoot?

Because this is the choice now that is facing us all.

Thug gestapo coppers are now roaming around looking to terrorise ever more innocent people.

When you go out of your home now, you can’t be sure of that you be coming back alive.

How much longer are we all going to put up with this?

Until people start [redacted], were just all going be slaughtered, as these filthy pig coppers get more and more brazen.

The police have always been the enemy of the people, now you going to have to do something about it, or go quietly into the night.
Be remembered as a hero, not a chicken,

    Its time to [redacted].

    [redacted]!

Its time to level the playing field.
