Man dies after testing Corona vaccine

The EU has a contract with Astrazeneca for its supply of doses. Now, a volunteer has died in Brazil during a study by the pharmaceutical company on the Corona vaccine. Despite that, the tests will be continued on human subjects.

A test subject died during the study of a corona vaccine from the pharmaceutical company Astrazeneca in Brazil. This was confirmed by the Brazilian health watchdog, Anvisa. Earlier, Brazilian media reported on it. The vaccine was developed by the British-Swedish company in collaboration with the University of Oxford. According to the company, Anvisa had already been informed on Monday. The recommendation is to continue the tests. The case is currently under investigation and data on volunteers must be treated confidentially.

According to CNN Brasil, the dead man is a 28-year-old man from Rio de Janeiro who died from complications related to Covid-19. The Brazilian newspaper “O Globo”, however, reported, citing sources who did not want to be named for legal reasons, that the volunteer in question had received a placebo rather than the vaccine. Officially, neither the laboratory nor the test centres nor Anvisas commented on questions at first.

Astrazeneca had already temporarily halted clinical trials for its promising Corona vaccine in September and apparently not for the first time. The vaccine AZD1222 was thought to be one of the promising candidates among the potential Corona vaccines. If a link between the volunteer’s death and the vaccine emerges, it would be a major blow to the project.

The vaccine is currently being tested by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in a so-called rolling review procedure. In this procedure, data from the clinical trial are submitted and evaluated on an ongoing basis. The EU has already concluded a framework agreement with Astrazeneca for the supply of dosages.

    More chance some mismanagement of the vaccine, or error by the administration.
    Still understandable to check on things, as this world seems to be not as immersed in doing things scientifically, as there has been a creep of other involvements, like language control, for genderisms, coloureds, history, and;
    maths, where 2+2 is allowed to = 5 unless 1 feels over worked so only = 3

  5. It is unusual for vaccines trials to run against a placebo, they are usually run against a base version of the vaccine containing the adjuvenants and the preservatives etc. but without the biologicals.

    I certainly will not be joining the queue for a shot, firstly because COVID is a hoax, and secondly, I am yet to be convinced thar vaccination is the answer.

    My son is now 40, it was just before he was born that the problems of MMR were pointed out to me. The original MMR had to be withdrawn.

    The testing of MMR raised doubts in the profession, and it was not not a rush job like this COVID vaccine. The discussions over mandatory vaccine leave me wondering what is going on, a rushed procedure, no liability and sanctions for refusal, and a pathogen which is easily countered, what kind of medical tyranny are we looking at?

    • Right-they’re never run against an inert placebo. Another report I saw said the control group received the meningococcal vaccine. Not sure I can find that link now…
