Gerald Grosz: “When Injustice Becomes Justice, Resistance Becomes a Duty”

Yesterday I posted a video rant by Gerald Grosz, an Austrian politician for the BZÖ (Bündnis Zukunft Österreich, Alliance for the Future of Austria) and the FPÖ (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs, Austrian Freedom Party).

The following clip was excerpted from the Austrian program “Fellner! LIVE” on OE24, the online portal of the Austrian daily Österreich. It features a discussion between Bohrn Mena and Gerald Grosz about a mandatory mask law implemented by the Austrian government.

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:00   There is, there is, one of the many laws is meant, moreover,
00:03   this mask law by Meyer himself ensures that this will be repealed.
00:06   You know, I’d rather be on the side of justice and the rule of law.
00:10   And the Constitutional Court is currently the intellectual crutch
00:14   of those illiterates in the Ministry of Health,
00:17   who in truth bring out one unconstitutional regulation after the other.
00:22   Also, I assume, a law could maybe be passed there
00:25   that makes it compulsory for all people to jump off a cliff,
00:28   and you are probably the first to arrive at the bottom.
00:31   I think, maybe this is not such a good idea, and now I say it for the third time
00:35   in three weeks: When injustice becomes justice, resistance becomes a duty.
00:39   It’s very easy, no, no, no, you asked me now… —Civil courage. —Yes, I think so, too.
00:44   Ah, if now — by the way a pretty picture, a youth photo of both of us —
00:50   Ah, if — to come back to — if well-known experts and even the Minister of Health in several —
00:57   and he is not an expert, because a primary school teacher cannot be a health expert…
01:04   When well-known experts from this republic, including those responsible for policies,
01:08   have prescribed this in page-by-page interviews, in particular after the mask requirement state:
01:13   “No, it has no medical background, but a purely psychological one,”
01:17   then I am one of those mature and enlightened people who say: I do not need a kindergarten teacher
01:22   in the Chancellery at Ballhausplatz. I do not need a psychological reason about
01:27   what is healthy or unhealthy, dangerous or risk-free in life. I do not need anyone for that. Yes?
01:32   I am mature, yes? I am not illiterate, am required to pay taxes; I am honest, and I do not need
01:37   anyone in the Federal Chancellery to tell me: “You have to wear a mask now,
01:41   because only if you wear a mask are you afraid of the little Wuhan virus… yes?”
01:45   He can do that with others, who can choose [??????], but in good faith,
01:49   not in his official function at Ballhausplatz, yes.
01:52   Then he should do what great chancellors of this republic did before: lead and govern the country
01:57   responsibly, and implement what the parliament decided in their greatest possible responsibility,
02:02   but please, do not play the chief governess of the republic.
