“Call the Police” Trends on Twitter After BLM Rioters Beg for Help From Cops

“Call the police” began trending on Twitter after BLM rioters in Kenosha made the plea following a shooting, a massive irony given that Black Lives Matter’s goal is to defund and abolish the police.

Several people were shot last night, including one fatally, as the riots continued to spiral out of control.

One of the shootings happened after rioters attempted to burn down another car dealership and were met by an armed citizen trying to defend the property.

One clip shows a man who has been shot in the head being helped by another individual who screams for someone to “call the police.”

Texas County Requests Help From State Troopers After Austin Defunds Police

A Texas county called for law enforcement reinforcements from Governor Greg Abbott after the Austin City Council cut its police department budget by one-third. The county judge from Williamson County said the $150 million budget cut to the Austin Police Department by the city council places Austin officers and their families “in great peril.” Part of Austin extends into Williamson County. County Judge Bill Gravell, Jr. noted that 55,385 residents of the county live within Austin’s city limits. The county judge told Governor Abbott, “I am concerned with these extreme budget cuts, that the citizens of the City of Austin within Williamson County will not remain protected at current levels.” In Texas, a county judge is the chief executive of the local government.

Gravell added, “It is clear the Austin City Council has abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens and, in turn, citizens of Williamson County. I will not let politics get in the way of protecting the people.”

Governor Abbott responded to the Austin City Council’s $150 police department cut saying, “Some cities are more focused on political agendas than public safety.”…

Hungary’s ‘Baby Flag’ Movement Celebrates Each New Life With This Symbol

In Hungary and many other countries in Central-Eastern Europe, it is common to display a black flag to mourn somebody’s death, but there was no similar symbol to celebrate the arrival of a new life.

One Hungarian organization wanted to change. In 2011, the “baby flag” movement was launched to celebrate the birth of each child in a country that desperately wants to raise its birthrate. The symbol of life has spread since then and is now not only seen flying on balconies, flag poles and houses across the country, but also on government buildings and offices.

The idea comes from Hungary’s “Three princes, three princesses” organization, which aims to promote positive demographic trends inside the country and to raise awareness of their baby flag campaign. The flag, which features storks with a pink or blue background, was the brainchild of actor and theater director Pal Oberfrank who hatched the idea in 2011.

Leading Rabbi: Hungary is Safe for Jews Despite Claims of German Minister

It is ironic for a German politician to level accusations of anti-Semitism against Hungary when the number of attacks against Jews is disproportionately higher in Germany, Slomó Köves, the executive Rabbi of EMIH Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation (EMIH) said in a Tuesday interview with national station Kossuth Radió.

“It is quite peculiar that a German politician would criticize Hungary since there have been 1,824 anti-Semitic incidents in Germany in 2019, while Hungary only had 35,” Köves said. “Anti-Semitism can be used as a political bludgeon, but that is only relevant for those who are being targeted. In this respect, Hungary is an eminently safe place.”

Köves was reacting to what German Federal Minister of State for European Affairs Michael Roth told Germany’s largest news portal, Die Welt.

Nearly 5,000 Car Fires in Netherlands Last Year, A New Record

A record number of 4,941 car fires were registered by insurers in the Netherlands last year, an increase of 12 percent compared to the 4,399 cars that burned out in the country in 2018, the Dutch Association of Insurers reported on Wednesday.

According to the Association, car fires are mainly caused by arson. “The Association of Insurers find the increasing trend in the number of car fires very concerning. A car fire in a residential neighborhood has enormous impact on the feeling of security of the residents,” the association said.

Between 2016 and 2019, Rotterdam had the most car fires with 573 claims filed with insurers. The Hague came next with 541, followed by Amsterdam with 533 and Utrecht with 448.

These figures do not include lease cars and third-party insured cars, so the actual number of car fires may well be higher, the Association said.

UK: Research: Wearing Face Masks Makes People Act Careless and Ignore Social Distancing

A study carried out by Psychologists from the Warwick Business School in the UK has found that the wearing of face masks significantly increases carelessness where personal hygiene is concerned and causes people to basically ignore social distancing.

The psychologists noted that people were more relaxed and comfortable sitting or standing in groups, so long as they had a mask on, and that individuals start to disregard keeping their distance from others who are also wearing face masks.

One of China’s most senior diplomats made the claim as he categorically refused to acknowledge the virus originated in Wuhan.

Wang Xining, the deputy head of mission at China’s embassy in Australia, gave a rare address at the National Press Club in Canberra, where he said Australia’s focus on determining the origins of the virus had damaged international relations and crushed China’s populace.

International tensions over the South China Sea escalated Wednesday as China fired two medium-range missiles into the sea as a warning to the U.S.

The move came the day after China accused the U.S. of flying a Lockheed U-2 spy plane over a live-fire drill the Chinese navy was conducting in the region. In recent weeks, the U.S. has deployed ships and aircraft to the region to keep a close eye on Chinese military activity.

Czechia Refuses to Withdraw Soldiers From Mali But Fears Grow About the EU’s Training Mission

The Czech soldiers who are on a European Union training mission in Mali are safe, Magdalena Dvorakova, the head of the communication department of the Czech General Staff, said on Monday in response to political upheaval that is engulfing the country.

In mid-August, rebellious Malian soldiers seized power in the country after capturing President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, who resigned shortly afterward.

“Our soldiers are fine,” said Dvorakova, but it is not yet clear what the future of the mission will be.

“It is an EU mission, so the EU must be the one to decide,” she added.

200 Migrants Stuck in Bosnia After Authorities Set Up Police Roadblocks

A dispute between regional authorities in Bosnia has left nobody wanting to accept migrants attempting to travel on to Western Europe, resulting in 200 of them to be stuck near the town of Bosanska Otoka.

Authorities in the north of the country have condemned the alleged inability of other parts of the state to share the burden of the migration crisis and set up roadblocks with police patrols on roads in the Krajina region. The roadblocks are designed to prevent refugees from entering the territory under their jurisdiction, and police are supposed to escort migrants who manage to breakthrough to where they came from.

Bosnia: Entrance Ban Imposed in Northwest

Pushed-back refugees helped by Red Cross. Residents protest

(ANSAmed) — BELGRADE, 25 AGO — Local authorities in the Una-Sana Canton in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in the country’s northwest at the border with Croatia, have imposed an entrance ban on illegal migrants.

The migrants have been arriving in increasing numbers in the area, travelling the Balkan Route with the goal of passing into Croatia and continuing towards Western Europe.

The Una-Sana Canton is part of the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the two entities that make up Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Authorities in the Republika Srpska, the other entity in the country, also do not allow migrants to enter their territory.

Therefore, regional media said, the most recent migrants who arrived, about 100, have been relegated to a sort of no man’s land between the two Bosnian entities.

The Red Cross intervened by distributing food and water.

The situation is feeding growing tension in the Balkan country, which has seen the number of migrants steadily grow in recent months while having limited resources to deal with the problem.

According to various estimates, the number of migrants in northwestern Bosnia-Herzegovina, in particular in Bihac and Velika Kladusa, ranges between 7,000 and 10,000, and their presence is provoking concern in the local population.

Local residents have been more frequently organising protests to denounce risks and threats to their safety.

Cases have been growing of thefts and aggression by groups of migrants loitering in the area in their constant search for ways to cross the border with Croatia.

Evros Border Fence Project to be Completed in Eight Months

The construction of a fence running along a section of the Greek-Turkish land border in Evros will be completed in eight months, Citizens’ Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis announced in Parliament on Monday.

The border fence project has a total budget of €62.9 million.

It will have a total length of 27 kilometres and eight elevated observatories will be constructed to be used by the Hellenic Army. Moreover, the existing fence will be reinforced with a steel railing measuring 4.3 meters in height, instead of the current 3.5 meters.

In March this year, Turkey attempted to asymmetrically invade Greece with the use of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants from Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Turkey had not only falsely told the illegal immigrants that Greece’s borders were open, but it also facilitated the transportation of the illegal immigrants and utilized their army to try and tear down Greece’s border wall. This damage will be repaired.

Italy: Govt to Challenge Musumeci Migrant Centre Closure Order

Sicily governor tells prefects to carry out ordinance

(ANSA) — ROME, 26 AGO — The government said Wednesday it would challenge a controversial ordinance by Sicily Governor Nello Musumeci to close migrant centres on the island amid alleged COVID concerns.

Centre-right Governor Musumeci has been engaging in a tug of war with Rome since the weekend.

He has been backed by the nationalist opposition League party and criticised by centre-left parties in government.

League leader Matteo Salvini, who as former interior minister applied a closed ports policy for NGO migrant rescue ships, said he would take legal action against the government for abetting illegal immigration and accused the interior ministry of hiding figures on migrant landings.

The centrist Italia Viva party, part of the governing coalition, has filed a suit against Musumeci and Salvini accusing them of falsely raising alarm and abuse of office, among other things.

Meanwhile the interior ministry came out with the latest migrant landing figures.

It said that 17,504 landed in Italy from January 1 to August 25, triple the number that arrived in the same period last year.

On Tuesday Musumeci said the first migrant hotspot in Sicily was being emptied.

“This morning they started to empty the hotspot at Pozzallo,” the governor said on Facebook.

Minister for the South Giuseppe Provenzano visited Sicily later Tuesday and allayed concerns that migrants were driving up COVID fears.

He urged Musumeci to show “institutional decorum” over the migrant-COVID issue.

Musumeci claims the regional government has precedence over the national government in migrant policy.

The government in Rome contends the opposite.

Musumeci has said he is ready to take legal action to uphold Sicily’s claim to competence on the issue.

The governor issued an ordinance to clear all the island’s hotspots and migrant reception centres by midnight Tuesday, but this aim was not achieved.

On Wednesday he urged Sicilian prefects to carry out his orders.

Several COVID cases have been reported at the hotspot on the stepping stone island of Lampedusa south of Sicily.

The island’s mayor has assured Salvini that all the COVID-positive migrants there have been isolated in suitable facilities.

Public Enemy No. 1 for Liberals in Poland? Immigration Hardliner and Trump Fan Dominik Tarczyski

One of Poland’s most left-leaning and popular portals, Oko.press, has chosen a new target for its attacks: Law and Justice party (PiS) MEP Dominik Tarczynski.

In an extensive article concerning the politician’s public and personal life along with his recent political activity, the portal did not spare any criticism and even failed to fully research Tarczynski’s background.

The publication took an aggressive stance on a variety of Tarczynski’s political views, including comments he has made about immigration.

“Not even one illegal Muslim migrant will ever cross the Polish border. Ever,” Tarczynski once said, as quoted by the author of the article.

The global health organization says that it’s not only fighting the pandemic but also the conversations people are having about it.

According to the WHO, there’s an “infodemic” — an overload and spread of misleading information, so much so that it decided that to tackle misinformation, it needs to employ various tools, including social listening, with machine learning monitoring.

  1. The Russian Royal family were not executed. The writer of the Mail on line article, Raven Saunt, repeatedly uses “executed” in his article, though in one place he accurately states:

“…they were murdered by Bolshevik troops in a basement ….”

    Words matter.

  2. EU or no EU there is a deep understanding regards “What are we going to do?”
