Joachim Kuhs on Israeli Sovereignty in the West Bank

Last Thursday I reported on the vote in the German Bundestag concerning Israeli sovereignty over a portion of the West Bank. The AfD (Alternative für Deutschland, Alternative for Germany) was the only party in the Bundestag that did not condemn Israel. All parties except the AfD submitted motions to the Bundestag session the previous day to deplore Israel’s alleged “annexation” of Judea and Samaria.

Joachim Kuhs is a member of the European Parliament for the AfD. The following video features his remarks on Israel and the West Bank.

Video transcript:

00:00   Joachim Kuhs — Recognizing Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria! —Dear friends,
00:03   ARD and ZDF (German public broadcasting) really want to make you believe
00:07   that the Israeli provinces of Judea and Samaria are illegally occupied territories.
00:14   Last August I was able to visit Judea and Samaria with a delegation of Jews in the AFD
00:22   and could form my own opinion. I visited the university in Ariel where 20,000 students,
00:31   among them many Arabs, study at a very modern university.
00:36   Unfortunately, this university is boycotted by the EU.
00:42   I also visited the Tura winery, where the grapes are harvested by volunteers, mainly Christians,
00:49   from all over the world. The winemaker Vered Ben Sa’adon, she comes from a family
00:56   of Holocaust survivors in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, their award-winning wines
01:03   are also boycotted by the EU.
01:07   I was able to spontaneously meet Rabbi Moshe Berliner from New York.
01:11   He was celebrating his 70th birthday with his eight children and 40 grandchildren.
01:17   40 grandchildren!
01:21   These are the people who have built this country and want to continue building it.
01:26   They also want to live peacefully together with their Arab neighbours in the West Bank.
01:32   Judea and Samaria are birthplaces of the Jewish people.
01:37   Where Abraham and Joseph are buried.
01:42   Many important places we know from the Bible are here.
01:47   Now Israel wants parts of these areas which are, according to the Oslo agreements
01:54   with Yasser Arafat, under the administration of the Israeli military, to now
01:59   be under civil administration. This is a great opportunity not only for the Jews who live there,
02:06   but also for the Arabs. They will have access to the desired Israeli citizenship and
02:15   to a functioning social system. They could also participate in Israeli elections,
02:23   since Israel is the only functioning democracy in the Middle East.
02:29   I encourage those responsible, here in the EU and in the German parliament who are making
02:35   an important decision today: Recognize Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
02:43   A strong Israel is an important guarantor of peace in the Middle East.
02:50   Warm greetings from Brussels. Your Joachim Kuhs.

  1. God forbid we have any Jews in Judea, right? All these years after the war and the Germans are still a pack of insufferable antisemites.
