Hungary’s House Speaker: Current Global Economic Model Unsustainable

The coronavirus pandemic has clearly demonstrated that the current global economic model is unsustainable, Speaker of the House Laszló Kövér said in an interview with news station InfoRadió.

Kövér said the spread of the pandemic also showed that globalization has had unexpected, but entirely logical consequences, which will remain a threat in the future. He pointed out that the movement of people and goods across continents has reached an unprecedented level, are here to stay and the situation could still get worse. In parallel with this, human relationships have gained a new value while other factors have been devalued: “it is not so important that we spend our holidays overseas”.

UPDATED

Was it really a private conversation?

A student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is being prosecuted for recording a conversation with a professor whom he suspected of discriminating against him for his political views.

Jared Schafkopf disputes the charges: felony wiretapping for recording the conversation with Rachelle Bouchat, associate professor of mathematics, and disorderly conduct because Bouchat told police she “feared for her safety” and her children’s.

Though the student shared the police report with The College Fix, he declined to answer several questions or flesh out certain allegations, citing his lawyer’s advice.

June Sets NICS Volume/Gun Sales Record

The FBI processed a total of 3,931,607 records through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in June, roughly 1.6 million more than the same month in 2019 and nearly 200,000 more than the previous highwater mark, set in March. After subtracting use of the system not associated with a firearm purchase, the number reflects the sale of nearly 2.4 million guns nationwide. The figures do not include transfers made to valid CCW permit holders in those regions of the country where a redundant background check is not required for their firearm purchases.

May’s gun sales numbers were also up by 80.2 percent, with a total of 1,726,053, according to an estimate from Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF). The increases have now continued for more than a year and show little sign of slowing.

Climate Activists Step Up Calls for Imprisoning Climate Realists

Unable to win the debate in the court of public opinion, climate activists are increasingly calling for the imprisonment of climate realists. The latest example is an article in The Carbon Brief titled “How climate change misinformation spreads online.” The authors, who are all University of Exeter professors, advocate fines and imprisonment for people publishing “climate misinformation” online. They justify their call for imprisonment by claiming tremendous harm from “misleading information that is created and spread with intent to deceive.” …

This isn’t the first time such wild calls for criminalization of contrary climate opinion have been made, in fact, it goes back to 2014: Lawrence Torcello, a liberal arts professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, NY, writes in an essay at The Conversation that climate scientists who fail to communicate the correct message about “global warming” should face trial for “criminal negligence.” A commenter on his article went even further to suggest that I should be sent to the war crimes tribunal in the Hauge for having a different opinion on climate:

“… I believe Anthony Watts should be frogmarched to The Hague as well. No question, in my mind. In fact, I find the idea of a defense of his actions ethically reprehensible.”

It gets worse. An ugly theatrical play, called Kill Climate Deniers, was even created in Australia about the issue.

The bottom line? Imprisonment of political dissidents has been a common theme with repressive regimes going back to the beginning of history. When those seeking power can’t convince the populace of the merits of their ideas, they start putting people who disagree in jail, hoping that fear will keep the rest in line. Fortunately, we live in a country where free speech is guaranteed by the Constitution.

But, should the time ever come when I’m going to be imprisoned for my viewpoints, I won’t go quietly, and neither will the thousands of independent thinkers on social media.

Dutch Police Discover Kidnap, Torture Chamber in Hidden Shipping Containers

Dutch police have arrested six men after a torture chamber was discovered in a series of underground shipping containers, kitted out with implements of torture including a dentist chair, handcuffs, pliers, saws, and black hoods.

The seven shipping containers were modified with sound insulation and lined with heat-insulating foil. Each container had handcuffs on the floor and ceiling, with the purpose of chaining kidnapping victims in standing position. The torture chambers were also fitted with cameras, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service revealed on Tuesday.

One of the shipping containers was found to have several sets of police clothing, bulletproof vests, and flashing lights. Dutch police also found a container with a dental chair bolted in the middle. There were also bags full of instruments presumably meant to torture prospective victims, including “pruning shears, tree loppers, branch saws, scalpels, pliers, extra handcuffs, finger cuffs, tape, balaclavas, and black cotton bags” that could be used as kidnapping hoods.

PM Orban: Europe is in Retreat

Once mighty Europe and the European Union is currently in retreat, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at a joint video conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa on Wednesday. The conference — streamed live on Facebook — was meant to offer the larger public a window into the thoughts of the three regional leaders on the current issues the European Union is facing.

“Europe is in retreat, Europe is performing worse than it was doing 30 years ago,” Orban said. “The fertility rate in 1990 in the EU was 1.8, in 2008 it was 1.56 and in 2018 it was 1.5. The annual number of marriages shows the same pattern. If you look at the defense spending, it is the same: we are paying much less attention to our safety than we did 30 years ago. The economic output of Europe in 1990 was 25 percent of the global total — last year it was 15.”

In Islamic Pakistan, Hindus Are Forced to Bury the Dead Bodies, Depriving Sanatani Last Rites

Shri Ram Shaw | MNDS | New Delhi | July 7, 2020:: Be it Hindus, Sikhs or Christians, the plight of minorities in Pakistan has always been very pathetic.

Regrettably, facts and common sense matter little in Pakistan, as a populist media and rabble-rousers within the political establishment have found a golden opportunity to pillory minorities there. And, now faced with no land for crematorium to perform the last rites of their kith and kin, Hindus are being forced to bury corpses.

Cremating the dead is believed to be the last rite of the 16 fundamental rituals of Hinduism. Burning of the dead is considered an offering to the gods. In Sikhism and Jainism too, cremating the corpse is preferred over burying. “Cremating the dead might be a choice for others but a compulsory ritual for us. It is mandatory in our religion to perform antim-sanskar of the dead, but we have no place in Peshawar to do it. We have been struggling for years to get land,” a local, on condition of anonymity, told MyNation over the phone from Peshawar.

He even complained that their holy places of worship were destroyed and public toilets and madrasas were constructed there. Circumstances are such that we can’t even raise our voice fearing for our lives. But we’ll keep struggling till our demands are met…

But, Rakesh started to blackmail Moumita on the basis of those pictures of deep intimacy between them and at one point of time Moumita surrendered to Rakesh and compelled to tie a knot with Rakesh without her parent’s consent. Rakesh and Moumita entered in a wedlock by local Quazi of a Mosque.

Now, the story of torture upon Moumita started up in Rakesh’ House, where her Muslim father-in-law Safiq Tarafdar, Mother-in-law Meherunnesa Bibi, Rakesh’s two uncles Siraj Tarafdar and Saiful Tarafder and two aunts Taslima Bibi and Nanu Bibi used to abuse, misbehave and torture with Moumita for dowry…
