Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/7/2020

An unexpected (and delightful) family visit today took up most of my time, so that I haven’t been able to post anything except the news feed.

The Italian government announced that it is putting 16 million people under quarantine in Northern Italy due to the Wuhan Coronavirus. Meanwhile, France has reported 16 deaths from the disease, out of almost 1,000 confirmed cases.

In other news, migrants attempted to pull down the border fence between Turkey and Greece, while Greek border guards responded by firing tear gas at them.

‘Come and Take It’: Congressman Challenges Biden, Beto to Confiscate His AR-15

‘If you wanna take everyone’s AR-15 in America why don’t you swing by my office…?’

Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO) threw down the gauntlet Friday, challenging Democrat presidential frontrunner Joe Biden and notorious anti-gunner Beto O’Rourke to come take his firearm.

“I have a message for Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke. If you wanna take everyone’s AR-15 in America why don’t you swing by my office in Washington DC and start with this one?” Congressman Buck asks.

“Come and take it,” he adds, grabbing an AR-15 mounted on the wall with an American flag pattern.

Could You Live Under United Nations Control?

Perhaps you believe you could adjust to whatever controls the United Nations would impose upon people, but have you thought about total control on every aspect of your life?

Let’s take a look at what the United Nations plans to accomplish in the twenty first century through implementation of Sustainable Development, aka UN Agenda 21, now changed to Agenda 2030.

Agenda 21: The Earth Summit Strategy to Save Our Planet (Earth press, 1993), states, “Agenda 21 proposes an array of actions which are intended to be implemented by every person on earth. It calls for specific changes in the activities of all people. Effective execution of Agenda 21 will require a profound reorientation of all humans, unlike anything the world has ever experienced…”

Private Property

The report from the UN’s Habitat One Conference in 1976, it tells us about owning our own property. “Land cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principle instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth; therefore,it contributes to social injustice.”

We can see where they’re headed. Their plan requires a complete and “profound reorientation of all humans, unlike anything the world has ever experienced. And how better to begin the reorientation of all of us than by relieving us of our personal property, and diminishing self-esteem. Just the separation of individuals from the ownership of land they’ve accumulated through their own efforts would be cataclysmic.

Why the attack upon private property? Because the right to property ownership is the key to everything relative to liberty. The United States Declaration of Independence gives all Americans three unalienable rights, Life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness (or Property). Without the ability to personally own property, there is no liberty, only an existence. Ownership belongs to the state…

All of their plans are being accomplished by a combined operation of the U.S. government and the United Nations through their Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development. (See “Growing Government Tyranny — Democrats Empower it. Republicans are Clueless” and “Green New Deal Reveals the Naked truth Of Agenda 21.”)

Republican congressmen and senators, as well as President Trump are basically “in the dark” concerning this issue as revealed by the USMCA trade deal. The USMCA practically opens all the gates to allow the UN domestic control of everything in our daily lives and our congress critters and president continue to support them. Here is a revealing article which discloses how the UN plans to set aside half of the land area in America to be inhabited by animals only, and humans will be prohibited access to it. In fact, most of the land they want has already been taken by the federal government.

Here’s What’s Coming for America as the Coronavirus Spread: Medical Martial Law

Now that the CDC has invoked its “rule by secrecy” mode by hiding coronavirus testing numbers in order to deceive America (while it quietly “seeds” infected people into the population), it’s abundantly obvious that the coronavirus outbreak in America is going to be used to invoke medical martial law.

There are already thousands of infections across America that have not yet been tested — all by design, of course, as the CDC withheld testing kits from hospitals and local health officials across the country. By our best estimates, there are currently between 5,000 and 10,000 infections in America, mostly along the West Coast (Seattle and Northern California) with new outbreaks taking place in New York City, Miami, Chicago, and other major cities.

Right now, domestic air travel is spreading the virus like crazy, since it spreads during the asymptomatic phase when people don’t even know they’re infected. There is currently no screening of domestic air travelers, and no domestic flight routes have been locked down (although that’s coming soon).

Importantly, the coronavirus has already broken containment in America and is now impossible to contain. It will impact every major city in America.

Here are a few of my predictions for where we’re going with this. So buckle up and get ready, because the coronavirus is coming to a city near you:…

Jussie Smollett’s Bid to Get Charges Thrown Out Rejected by Illinois Supreme Court

The Illinois Supreme Court rejected former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett’s request to throw out charges that accuse him of staging a racist, homophobic attack in Chicago.

The ruling came Friday, along with the court’s decision rejecting the actor’s effort to remove the special prosecutor in the case.

Smollett’s lawyers argued in an emergency petition that Cook County Circuit Judge Michael Toomin overstepped his authority and misinterpreted the law when he ordered the appointment of a special prosecutor.

Jussie Smollett Needs to be Held Accountable for ‘Total Hoax, ‘ Wasting Police Resources, Chicago Mayor Says

The mayor of Chicago believes Jussie Smollett is guilty of staging a racist, homophobic attack against himself last year and has vowed to make sure the actor is held accountable.

The former “Empire” star, 37, pleaded not guilty Monday to renewed charges brought against him related to allegedly staging a hate crime. Now, comments Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot made this week reveal her office is dedicated to proving he’s guilty.

“He needs to face the charges. He committed a crime, and he needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and we are going to continue to aggressively make him accountable for the wasted police resources that went into investigating what turned out to be a total hoax,” Lightfoot told a group of reporters, according to CBS 2 Chicago.

It didn’t take long for Democrats, who took over both legislative chambers in Virginia in November and hold the governorship, to go after the guns — as they promised to do.

But Virginians are not happy with the Democrats’ efforts, and they’re taking action.

“Nearly 66,000 background checks were performed in Virginia in February as the state’s Democratic-controlled legislature weighs a number of strict background checks — a steep increase from the 40,381 checks performed in February 2019,” The Washington Free Beacon reported. “Virginia experienced one of the most dramatic upticks in background checks — a strong indicator of total sales — in the nation, according to data released by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).”

That data also showed gun sales were up nationwide by an average 16.7% — but the surge was highest in Virginia, where background checks rose by 63.4 percent compared to 2019.

YouTube to Reconsider Coronavirus Demonetization

YouTube last month confirmed it was demonetizing videos about the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, citing its policies around “sensitive topics.”

The epidemic is one of the most prominent events of this generation but YouTubers can risk losing their livelihoods if they talk about it.

This way, YouTube can say it’s doing its best not to spread panic and misinformation. The only ones hurt by the demonetization of coronavirus-related content are independent creators, including those acting in good faith, who won’t be able to talk about one of the biggest global topics of the day if they want to keep their YouTube revenue.

As Migrants Try to Reach EU, Germany’s Left Calls for ‘Pact of Humanity’

BERLIN (Reuters) — Social Democrat state premieres on Saturday called for Germany to take in vulnerable refugees from crowded reception camps in Greece, in the latest sign of discord in the ruling coalition over the prospect of a new refugee wave hitting Europe.

Tens of thousands of migrants have been trying to get into Greece, an EU member state, since Turkey said on Feb. 28 it would no longer try to keep them on its territory as agreed in 2016 with the EU in return for aid.

But since Chancellor Angela Merkel’s 2015 decision to let in more than a million migrants, migration has been among Germany’s most divisive issues, splitting her conservative party and fuelling a far-right surge.

Italy: Culture Min Returns Della Robbia Work to Germany

Magdalene statue taken from Nazis by mistake

(ANSA) — Berlin, February 21 — Culture Minister Dario Franceschini on Friday gave back to Germany a statue of Mary Magdalene by Renaissance great Andrea della Robbia which had been mistakenly taken from a German Jewish family after it was found in Herman Goering’s collection.

In the presence of German Culture Undersecretary Monika Gruetters, Franceschini stressed the importance of returning a work that had ended up in Italy “by mistake” and had “unwittingly” stayed there for so long.

Andrea della Robbia (1435-1525) was an Italian Renaissance sculptor, especially in ceramics.

Born in Florence, Andrea was the son of Marco della Robbia, whose brother Luca della Robbia popularized the use of glazed terra-cotta for sculpture.

Andrea became Luca’s pupil, and was the most important artist of ceramic glaze of the times.

Coronavirus is Mutating Into Two Strains, One More Aggressive

Researchers in China say preliminary research shows that COVID-19 is mutating and there are at least two types of the virus now. One of those, the more aggressive strain, has infected 70% of the people tested for the virus.

According to doctors at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, a less aggressive strain of the virus has infected the other 30% of those who have contracted COVID-19. Scientists have called the aggressive strain “L type” and the less prevalent version “S type.” The L type strain was seen more frequently in Wuhan, where the outbreak began, but researchers note that the frequency of infection has dropped off. They also cautioned that the data they had available for study was “very limited” and they still don’t fully understand the evolution of this virus.

Forbes reported that more testing and studies are needed to get a grasp on the change this virus is making to keep itself alive and replicate. The scientists also stated that we can likely expect more mutations of this virus.

How the Coronavirus is Being Used to Control You and Remove Your Rights

For a hint of what’s in store, you can look to China—our role model for all things dystopian—where the contagion started.

In an attempt to fight the epidemic, the government has given its surveillance state apparatus—which boasts the most expansive and sophisticated surveillance system in the world—free rein. Thermal scanners using artificial intelligence (AI) have been installed at train stations in major cities to assess body temperatures and identify anyone with a fever. Facial recognition cameras and cell phone carriers track people’s movements constantly, reporting in real-time to data centers that can be accessed by government agents and employers alike. And coded color alerts (red, yellow and green) sort people into health categories that correspond to the amount of freedom of movement they’re allowed: “Green code, travel freely. Red or yellow, report immediately.”

Mind you, prior to the coronavirus outbreak, the Chinese surveillance state had already been hard at work tracking its citizens through the use of some 200 million security cameras installed nationwide. Equipped with facial recognition technology, the cameras allow authorities to track so-called criminal acts, such as jaywalking, which factor into a person’s social credit score.

Insane Article Promotes Coronavirus as a Force to Fight Climate Change

In a new, blisteringly white-hot take called “Coronavirus can trigger a new industrial revolution,” a very super smart guy who knows better than us named Ed Conway explains how the coronavirus has an upside: “Unlike most other such diseases, it kills mostly the old who, let’s face it, are more likely to be climate sceptics. It spares the young. Most of all, it stymies the forces that have been generating greenhouse gases for decades.”

This is a shocking display of hubris, looking intense, life-ending natural disaster in the face, and saying “hey, maybe it’s not so bad.” To a certain extent, we’ve been waiting for this to happen. It was inevitable. After years of alarmism and dangerous fetishization, we’ve reached the moment in our current age of hysteria and panic where a major publication is publishing an ode to a potentially cataclysmic pathogen because the side effects will be a lowering of carbon emissions and the death of the type of people who don’t consider that a priority.

More Coronavirus Censorship: Social Media Companies Partner With Who to Censor Info

Social media companies have made the decision to partner with “health authorities” (government officials like those who work for the CDC) to combat “misinformation” about the coronavirus. We all know what this means. Under the mainstream media’s seemingly innocent words lies a rash of new censorship coming down the pipes.

Only the official narrative from those in the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will soon be allowed on social media. Last week, the social media app TikTok, popular with youths and young adults, announced it would be partnering with the WHO in an effort to spread veritable information on the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, in addition to best public health practices.

According to a report by ABC News, WHO posted its first TikTok on Friday.

Testing a Chinese X86 CPU: A Deep Dive Into Zen-Based Hygon Dhyana Processors

by Dr. Ian Cutress & Wendell Wilson

AMD had contacted the DoD and DoC, as well as all others, and had been given the green light. The new microarchitecture was deemed of low enough performance to not hit any of the export bans. AMD was also given crystal clear confirmation that the ‘technology proposed was not restricted or otherwise prohibited from being transferred’, which is a rather stark statement. At this point it should be clear that AMD may have submitted a modified version of its IP to the relevant US departments, rather than the microarchitecture we saw in the Ryzen 1000-series. This is part of what this review is about. Joint Venture in a Joint Venture

The end goal of all of this was to be able to provide China a version of AMD’s Zen 1 CPUs that could be called ‘Chinese’, rather than ‘American’. As has been the case of the last decade or more, China has wanted to rely less on American technology and intellectual property in order to become self-sufficient. The way in which AMD’s joint ventures worked for the Hygon Dhyana designs was built to essentially do that in a very roundabout way.

The name of the joint venture overseeing the operation is called THATIC, or Tianjin Haiguang Advanced Technology Investment Co. Ltd. This company is owned by AMD and a mix of Chinese companies, both public and private, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, but is at least 51% owned by AMD.

600 People, Aided by Turkish Army and Military Police, Threw Tear Gas at the Greek Side of the Border Overnight

EDIRNE, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to be in Brussels on Monday for a one-day working visit, his office said amid a charged conflict between Turkey and the European Union over migrants and refugees.

Thousands of migrants headed for Turkey’s land border with Greece after Erdogan’s government said last week that it would no longer prevent migrants and refugees from crossing over to EU territory. Greece deployed riot police and border guards to repel people trying to enter the country from the sea or by land.

Brooklyn DA Defends No-Bail Decision on Illegal Immigrant Charged With Rape

Brooklyn prosecutors on Wednesday defended their decision not to seek bail for an illegal immigrantcharged with raping a 13-year-old girl when he was 19 — describing it as “a sexual relationship.”

“The case was reported by the girl’s mother, alleging that her daughter had a sexual relationship with an older teenager, which constituted statutory rape,” a spokesman for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez’s office said.

“Accordingly, we did not request bail for this nonviolent felony that allegedly took place a year-and-a-half ago.”

Chicago Defends Releasing Illegal Immigrant Later Charged With Sexually Assaulting Toddler

The city of Chicago is defending its decision to release from custody an illegal immigrant who is a previously deported aggravated felon and who allegedly went on to commit another crime.

After the detainer request was not honored, Puente was again arrested in early February, this time for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl in a McDonald’s bathroom.

Chicago law enforcement and Mayor Lori Lightfoot are sticking by the decision not to cooperate with ICE.

Migrants Try to Tear Down Turkey-Greece Border Fence

A group of migrants on Saturday tried to bring down a fence in a desperate attempt to bust through the border into Greece while others hurled rocks at Greek police. Greek authorities responded, firing volleys of tear gas at the youths.

At least two migrants were injured in the latest clash between Greek police and migrants gathered on the Turkish side of a border crossing near the Greek village of Kastanies. As in previous confrontations this week, officers in Greece fired tear gas to impede the crowd and Turkish police fired tear gas back at their Greek counterparts.

Groups of mostly young men tied ropes onto the fence in an attempt to tear it down. Some shouted “Allah is Great” while others shouted “open the border.”

Ordinary, Patriotic Greeks Enlist to Defend Europe Against a Migrant Invasion

MORIO, Greece (AP) — Over the years, villagers who live near Greece’s border with Turkey got used to seeing small groups of people enter their country illegally. The Greek residents often offered the just-arrived newcomers a bite to eat and directed them to the nearest police or railway station.

But the warm welcomes wore off. When Turkey started channeling thousands of people to Greece, insisting that its ancient regional rival and NATO ally receive them as refugees, the Greek government sealed the border and rushed police and military reinforcements to help hold back the flood.

People Smugglers Slash Price to €13 Per Migrant, Claim Erdogan Gave Them ‘Instructions’

Cinderella Remake to Feature ‘Genderless’ Fairy Godmother Played by Gay Man

Cinderella’s fairy godmother will be portrayed as “genderless” by a homosexual male actor in a remake of the classic fairytale by Columbia Pictures.

Emmy-award winning Billy Porter, who identifies with his same-sex attractions, will be cast as Cinderella’s magic-weaving godparent. Porter, celebrated in Broadway circles for wearing women’s clothing, told CBS on Monday that he thought it “profound” that he was playing the role.

“It hit me when I was on the set last week, how profound it is that I am playing the fairy godmother — they call it the Fab G,” he said, without specifying who “they” were.

“Magic has no gender,” he continued.

“We are presenting this character as genderless. That’s how I’m playing it. And it’s really powerful.”

Porter did not explain why he believes that erasing the female identity of the most famous godmother in European folklore is powerful.

Pastor Jeffress: All the Democrats Care About is Making Sure That Their Patron Saint Planned Parenthood is Able to Murder as Many Children in the Womb as Possible” (Video)

Pastor Robert Jeffress joined Gregg Jarrett on Lou Dobbs Tonight on Friday following the threats earlier in the week by leading Democrat Chuck Schumer hurled at Supreme Court Justices this week.

Pastor Jeffress was asked about Schumer’s threatening and danerous statements.

Pastor Jeffress responded: They say they care about women’s health. But the truth is they don’t give a you-know-what about women’s health. All the Democrats care about is making sure that their patron saint, Planned Parenthood, is able to murder as many children in the womb as possible without restriction so that Planned Parenthood can get their blood money, $600 million from the federal government. Wikipedia Deletes List of Scientists Who Disagree With the Consensus on Climate Change

Should people who rely on getting information about climate change from Wikipedia be able to see a page called, “List of Scientists who Disagree with the Scientific Consensus on Global Warming”?

Skepticism, rather than conformism, is at the very heart of science — while encyclopedias, even those like Wikipedia, are supposed to index vast amounts of information, rather than curate information in order to promote or stifle an agenda.

Therefore, logic dictates that a page listing scientists disagreeing with the current consensus on climate change should have been safe.

But Wikipedia editors’ answer was, “no” — this resource should not be available. It may have even been down to a single editor deciding to delete the page — which the website Electroverse refers to as “an astonishing act of censorship”.

Scientists Say This Exoplanet Could Have the Right Conditions for Life

The exoplanet K2—18b, sitting 124 light-years from Earth, may have conditions favorable to the development of life, a new study suggests. The world is larger than the Earth, is known to have a substantial atmosphere, and new research suggests that conditions in this world may also be favorable to producing large pools of liquid water.

Roughly twice as large as Earth, with 8.6 times the mass of our homeworld, this exoplanet orbits within the habitable zone around its star, K2—18. This region of a solar system, sometimes called the Goldilocks zone, is the distance from a star that is neither too hot nor too cold, for liquid water to exist on the surface of a planet.

Zip Files: History, Explanation and Implementation

I have been curious about data compression and the Zip file format in particular for a long time. At some point I decided to address that by learning how it works and writing my own Zip program. The implementation turned into an exciting programming exercise; there is great pleasure to be had from creating a well oiled machine that takes data apart, jumbles its bits into a more efficient representation, and puts it all back together again. Hopefully it is interesting to read about too.

This article explains how the Zip file format and its compression scheme work in great detail: LZ77 compression, Huffman coding, Deflate and all. It tells some of the history, and provides a reasonably efficient example implementation written from scratch in C. The source code is available in hwzip-1.1.zip.

Thank you for all your work in keeping us informed of the many events that we would not know without your site. Often I read about events here that do not appear in my local paper for a day or two afterwards – if at all.

    Again “Thank You”. JohnM

    • Wonder if they will qualify for a badge for learning how to behead a Christian.

      • Properly beheading a Christian would fall under correct use of knives and other blades. Same goes for burning them in cages; that would be fire starting and fire safety.

Raping infidel girls and muslim ones without a male escort might also qualify for a badge. That might be under health or first aid in the category of sexual emergencies.

  2. Greece really needs to find the next King Leonidas, and fast.

Turkey’s actions are open warfare and should be treated as such.

    • I would prefer a Miltiades who smashed the Persians in Marathon or a Themistokles who ruined the Persian fleet in Salamis than a Leonidas with the Thespians, who although bravely fought ,nevertheless the enemy reached Athens and burned the city.
We will give a very good lesson to Erdogan,a lesson that he will never forget.

  3. Hi Baron,
