A Breakdown of the $2 Trillion Coronavirus Stimulus Bill

The Senate and the White House finally agreed on a coronavirus stimulus bill early Wednesday morning, a measure that is meant to bring some economic relief to the millions of Americans out of work and businesses becoming insolvent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are some details from the plan, which has yet to pass Congress but is expected to quickly.

Back to Work by End of March? Kudlow Pushes to Reopen Economy in Non-”Hot-Zones”

China and Russia are open for business and working at close to capacity, as America shutters most businesses and industries in states such as Pennsylvania, New York, California, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In many cases only select manufacturing companies are allowed to operate, which means most manufacturers will be short of parts and services necessary to produce goods.

Our leaders are creating an economic crisis and a major national security risk with limited data. The cure is far worse than any perceived impact by COVID-19. Our economy is both fragile and interdependent, an economic reality not understood by our leaders as they order mass closings of many states’ business and industry.

Thomas Sowell wrote, “There are no solutions. There are only tradeoffs.” Sowell was informing us that wise and sound judgments are imperative during any crisis.

An opinion piece by John P. A. Ioannidis, professor of medicine, epidemiology, and population health at Stanford University, is headlined, “A fiasco in the making? As the coronavirus pandemic takes hold, we are making decisions without reliable data.”

According to GUS, the number of unemployed people registered at labour offices in February amounted to 919,900, down from 922,200 a month earlier.

Army Patrolling — America Goes 3rd World!

Americans distrust the wealthy. Americans distrust government and, for the most part, Americans distrust each other.

Therefore, when coronavirus has caught the country in the later stages of an incredible economic boom, it (economic improvement) was the only thing keeping the ship sailing smoothly.

The losses have been MONUMENTAL since the Covid-19 started spreading, though. In 2008, homeowners lost a collective $8 trillion. In less than a month, investors have lost $30 trillion in the 2020 pandemic. That’s 50% MORE than a full year of GDP.

These sorts of losses are not only shocking, but they’re CALLING INTO QUESTION the very fabric of the fiat monetary system.

Google Censors Google Doc of Medical Hydroxychloroquine Coronavirus Treatment Trial Paper

It seems like a lifetime away now, as the world struggles to get the spread of coronavirus under control — but on March 13, James Todaro, who holds medical degree from Columbia University, posted about some potentially promising research on Twitter.

Todaro linked to a Google Doc file and said there was “growing evidence of chloroquine as a highly effective treatment for COVID-19.”

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the virus, for which there has been no effective prevention or treatment to date, while chloroquine is a component in prescription drugs used to treat malaria and rheumatoid arthritis, among other conditions.

The research Todaro referred to was authored by him and two colleagues — Gregory Rigano of Johns Hopkins, and Thomas Broker of Stanford University.

Nevertheless, Google managed to block access to the linked Google Docs file for violating the giant’s terms of service, as well as its anti-abuse program and enforcement.

Two home delivery vans operated by the British supermarket chain Iceland were destroyed in an arson attack in Bristol on Monday only hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the UK is going on lockdown in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

At approximately 9:30 PM, “youths” began creating disturbances in the areas of Henbury and Southmead. The police were called to get the rioters under control, but the miscreants threw “missiles” at them to repel their attempt to disperse the crowd. Later that night, two vans parked outside Iceland’s Southmead store were set ablaze, The Daily Mirror reports.

New Species of Flying Reptile With Spiked Teeth Discovered That Formed Part of an Ancient River Ecosystem in the Sahara 100 Million Years Ago

A new species of spike-toothed flying reptile that lived 100 million years ago in the Sahara that caught fish with its teeth in the air has been discovered by scientists.

The fossil remains of the toothed pterosaurs were identified in Africa by an international team of scientists led by Baylor University in Texas.

The reptiles had a wingspan of up to 13 feet and soared above the river ecosystem that existed in the Sahara at the time and used their long wings to scoop up fish.

Experts were able to identify three new species from chunks of jaws with teeth obtained from fossil miners in a small village called Beggaa in southeast Morocco.

WHO Expert: Lock Downs Won’t Stop This Virus

A World Health Organization expert has come forward warning that lockdowns and economic depression are not going to stop this virus. Michael Ryan, who heads the WHO’s Health Emergencies Program, urged world governments to take further tyrannical measures in combating the coronavirus.

But his solution is complete global totalitarianism. Ryan wants governments to do things such as identifying people with the virus and quarantining them, forcibly if necessary. Forced quarantine with a gun to your head. “What we really need to focus on is finding those who are sick, those who have the virus, and isolate them, find their contacts and isolate them,” Ryan told the BBC on Sunday, according to Reuters.

Here be Dragons: Analysis Reveals New Species in Smaug Lizard Group

Smaug, the deadly dragon in J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” has a few living relatives. With dense, alligator-like armor, these small, real-life dragon lizards are rock-crevice recluses mostly confined to mountaintops in southern Africa.

Now, herpetologists Michael Bates, a curator at South Africa’s National Museum in Bloemfontein, and Edward Stanley of the Florida Museum of Natural History have discovered a ninth species of dragon lizard in the genus Smaug, previously mistaken for a similar-looking species, S. barbertonensis.

The new species, a heavily plated dark brown lizard with pale yellow bands, has been named Smaug swazicus, or the Swazi dragon lizard, in honor of the country of Eswatini, where most of the species’ range is located. Up to 13 inches from snout to tail tip, S. swazicus is an unusually big lizard for the region.

Court Rules Free Speech Must Yield to ‘Woke’ Speech

Shawnee State University in southern Ohio (cross the bridge and you’re in Kentucky) is an open-admissions school that opened in 1986. It’s very little known, but the school’s administrators are as politically attuned to progressive sensibilities as any across the nation. A case that has arisen at Shawnee threatens to set a terrible precedent for the suppression of speech that any “woke” student claims to find harassing.

Nicholas Meriwether has been on the Shawnee faculty since 1996, teaching political science. He has risen to the rank of full professor with the equivalent of tenure. In a course on political philosophy he was teaching in 2018, he called upon an obviously male student and after the student (registered in class under the name Alena Breuning, but referred to as “Doe” in the court documents) replied, Meriwether said, “Yes, sir.” That’s all it took to set off a federal case.

10 thoughts on “Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/25/2020

  1. So much lying and sheer propaganda now. Paranoia. All the “loving” lefties producing many times more serious dangerous hatred. Murder massacre and mayhem gets closer and closer. No planning and preparation for the Almighty rebalancing.

  2. I wonder what the effect on a society is for generations, the best, most adventurous of that society … leave.

It’s sad that the migrants died. And there has been so much death. Much underreported.

Can’t they stay and make their own society better?

    • No way Jose! With all that free stuff and cash!? The kufar is fast becoming the kafir.

    • I was trying to respond to your comment, Nacly Dog, but something weird happened; maybe the Internet was overwhelmed. I’ll continue. I certainly reject Naturalherbes’ remarks; I’ve seen precious little evidence of divine intervention in human affairs.

“Can’t they stay and make their own society better?” Well yes, in theory; ignoring (not dimissing) the research on relative differences in intelligence between human populations, cultural differences seem hugely important. Around 1960 Ghana (then the “Gold Coast”) and Singapore were British colonies; GDP per capita was higher in Ghana. Following independence, Singapore (which has no natural resouces, and imports most of its food) has streaked ahead, especially after separating from post-independence Malaysia, while Ghana, which has such resourses, is well behind, though ahead of most other former colonies in West Africa.

Superior intellect among ethnic Chinese? Maybe (as among Ashkenazi Jews), but imho, it’s also to do with cultural attitudes. In Europe, with its Judeo-Christian heritage, specialisation meant we were able to nurture scholars and writers who challenged the status quo: hence the Reformation and the Enlightement. Which, I’m truly sorry to say, means many (maybe most) human cultures have much catching-up to do.

I’m trying to keep this short, but must mention the theories of the American anthopologist Jared Diamond: human societies can only move past hunter-gathering if there are plants and animals present which lend themselves to domestication, leading to agriculture, producing surpluses of food and enabling specialisation (including explorers): such species were native to Europe, Asia and northern Africa- hence European (and some Asian) colonisation (as opposed to purely exploitative conquest- fill in your own candidates for inclusion in this category!) If sub-Saharan Africa, say, or South America, had been blessed with such natural resources, they’d surely have got around to colonising and enslaving us.

      • I have read Jared Diamond’s books as well; his “Guns, Germs, and Steel” is fascinating but he chooses to ignore the elephant in the room, namely that while factors such as arable land, waterways for transport, domesticable animals, etc are important for the development of advanced civilizations, native intelligence is also an extremely critical factor.

China has had an advanced civilization for thousands of years before Christ, same goes for the lands of the Fertile Crescent. Africa never developed anything approaching a civilization, and not all of that can be blamed on the tsetse fly or the lack of natural harbors or navigable waterways. The lands of the Fertile Crescent have in fact regressed culturally and in inventiveness since becoming the Lands of the Crescent Moon. In fact, in this day and age when there is the leveling factor due to the ease with which the totality of human knowledge can be accessed anywhere in the world through the internet, there is truly no excuse for peoples to remain in torpor and tribal superstition such as is seen across almost the entirety of the Third World. In my opinion, Jared Diamond is correct on many things but he tries too hard to be politically correct to go all the way in explaining why some peoples never have managed to develop a civilization beyond the tribal savage stage.

  3. Status of COVID-19

As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.

  4. Also, for those who would like to know how and why the public health establishment keeps ginning up one false emergency after another, I suggest you read the book “Inventing the AIDS Virus” (Regnery Publishing) ) by UC Berkeley Biologists Peter Duesberg and Bryan Ellison. The whole first half of the book is a chronicle of major public health blunders, who is behind them, and the willful blindness and corruption that insures that these human caused disasters keep happening over and over again. You may also wish to read a short piece in Spin Magazine by Bryan Ellison about the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) and all the phony panics they have caused, and the human dissasters that followed. The book, however, is far more detailed, and should be read by every red blooded American who is beginning to suspect that their is something dangeroysly wrong with our public health establishment.

    http://www.virusmyth.com/aids/hiv/beeis.htm

  5. For further glimpse of how are corrupt, socialist Public Health establishment operates, you may also wish to read the following interview by former UC Berkeley Biologist (and conservative) Bryan Ellison. Forget about all the references to AIDS (at least for the moment) and concentrate on what he says about how our enemies in the Public Health Establishment operate…

    http://whale.to/c/interview_bryan_ellison.html

  6. Nkrumah of Ghana almost made it? Today’s Muslim migrants see only divine intervention at work. The Western European useful idiot dogooder is a gift from Alah. Dogooders work. Man do they work. I imagine in a time sooner rather than later human intervention will attempt to separate one from the other.
