All Bars, Restaurants in Illinois to Close Their Doors for 2 Weeks Due to COVID-19 Concerns

CHICAGO — All bars and restaurants in Illinois must close their doors to customers from the end of business Monday night through March 30, Governor JB Pritzker ordered Sunday, due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

“There are no easy decisions left to make as we address this unprecedented crisis,” Pritzker said Sunday. “As your governor I can’t allow the gravity of these decisions from taking the measures that the science and the experts say will keep people safe.”

Pritzker made the announcement during the latest briefing on the spread of COVID-19 in Illinois Sunday afternoon. Under the order, all restaurants and bars will not be open to the public, although employees can still go in. Drive-through and pickup services at restaurants will still be allowed.

The Newport Police Department posted the surprising message on its Facebook page as shoppers across the country have flocked to supermarkets to stock up on supplies amid the coronavirus pandemic that has put much of the world on edge.

“It’s hard to believe that we even have to post this. Do not call 9-1-1 just because you ran out of toilet paper. You will survive without our assistance,” NPD wrote.

The ‘Climate Emergency’ — Running With the Crowds?

[…]

James Thurber’s 1913 story ‘The Day the Dam broke’ is an account of human irrationality enabling us to draw lessons on how things can quickly spiral out of control when false information is knowingly, or innocently, spread.

This can quickly lead to panic or, in the case of climate, a rapid escalation to the apocalyptic sounding ‘Climate Emergency’. This is an extreme climate condition which some find difficult to discern, but is fervently believed in by many others, especially when current events such as bushfires, storms and flooding are heavily promoted in the media, with limited historical context. …

some small snippets from the story itself;

“After very heavy rain (see 1) on March 12, 1913 a rumour spread that the River Ohio was in flood and the water would rush towards the city as the dam had broken. …

Food was left on the hob and front doors left open, as the people ran to escape the rushing waters of the Dam they were sure had collapsed, a notion reinforced by thousands of others of a like mind.

The militia drove through the city announcing the news was false, but still the mob ran up to 12 miles in order to save their lives. Eventually when it became clear that flood water was not pursuing them, the mob mentality began to ease. Slowly people returned to their homes realising that even the most sober and moderate of citizens had lost their heads over an unsubstantiated rumour, reinforced by the actions of a runner unconnected with the matter.

Trump ‘Strongly Considering’ Flynn Pardon

President Trump announced Sunday that he is “strongly considering” a pardon for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators conducting the Russia investigation.

Flynn had been scheduled to be sentenced in late February, but Judge Emmet Sullivan postponed it indefinitely after prosecutors filed a rare motion to delay a number of approaching deadlines that would have made the Feb. 27 sentencing date unlikely. Flynn had also moved to withdraw his guilty plea, claiming that federal prosecutors had acted in bad faith.

Legault Impatient With Trudeau

(Translation)

[Commentary: Globalist Trudeau is such a moron that he has so far been unwilling to have any quarantine or detection of COVID-19 at airports, despite most cases arriving from abroad. It’s to the point that the Quebec government is going to basically force themselves into the Montreal airport. My attempt at a translation of the leading/main paragraphs below. PMs of Quebec are *not* called “Premier”, but are called “Prime Minister”, BTW.]

Prime Minister [of Quebec] François Legault is losing patience with Justin Trudeau’s inaction. He no longer wants foreign tourists, and will send public health employees into airports, despite their being federal jurisdiction.

“On the matter of borders, I have again spoken with Mr. Trudeau Sunday. We have a difference of opinion. We must make a distinction between goods and people. It is important that medication and food continues to come in. Where we differ is that I continue to think that it isn’t a good idea to have foreign tourists in Canada.”, he said.

[Quebec] Minister of Health Danielle McCann then announced that public health representatives would be present in airports to properly explain to people the necessity of self-isolating for 14 days.

Coronavirus: Europe on Lockdown

Europe is now the epicenter of the global coronavirus pandemic that has reached more than 45 countries on the continent. As of March 14, upwards of 42,000 people have tested positive for the disease, according to data from European health ministries.

Italy is Europe’s worst-affected country, followed by Spain, Germany, France, Switzerland and Norway.

In Europe as a whole, more than 1,600 people — 4.0% of those confirmed as having been infected — have died from COVID-19. In Italy, the lethality rate currently is 5.8%, according to the Ministry of Health.

German Marxist-Leninist Party Trying to Resurrect Lenin From the Dead

The Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany have convinced themselves that the erection of a statue of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin in the city of Gelsenkirchen, a few weeks before his 150th birthday, would be the equivalent of raising the Communist brute from the dead.

In spite of his embalmed corpse still lying in state in Red Square—and even having been refurbished with a new suit every 18 months—Lenin is a long-time dead goner.

So, incidentally is Marxism/Socialism which continues to die wherever it is tried, worldwide. It is destined to fail, too in America, where the Democrat Party is currently trying to coax it back into life.

German City to Erect Statue of Communist Mass Murderer Vladimir Lenin

A court in a German city has ruled that the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany (MLPD) will be allowed to erect a statue of Vladimir Lenin, the mass-murdering founder of the Soviet Union.

The administrative court in Gelsenkirchen overruled the city’s decision to halt the construction of a monument to Vladimir Lenin, the architect of the Russian Revolution of 1917 which birthed the Soviet Union — a state responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of innocent people.

The city had argued that the statue would detract from the historical value of the adjacent savings bank building, but the court ruled that objections over Lenin’s historical atrocities were irrelevant as the statue is to be constructed more than ten meters away from the bank, Deutsche Welle reports.

The Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany hailed the decision by the court, saying: “A few weeks before his 150th birthday, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin has once again won a great victory.”

The move by the court was slammed by Marco Buschmann, a Free Democrats (FDP) member of parliament from Gelsenkirchen, who said: “A Lenin statue would be a disgrace for Gelsenkirchen” as “Lenin stands for mass murder and totalitarianism.”

The Medical Journey of Dr. Mircea, A Doctor Trained Under Socialism (Part 2)

[…]

Through the years, besides his native Romanian language, Dr. Mircea became fluent in French, Russian, Polish, English, and a bit of Afrikaans and Fanaglo, the Bantu People Esperanto of the subcontinent, a mix of Zulu and English.

The military commissar asked Comrade Doctor one day why he was studying foreign languages. Aside from the personal joy of being able to swear in Polish at the totalitarian commissar, Dr. Mircea answered the Comrade Captain with a straight face that he liked to study the history of the Soviet Union in the Russian language.

He wrote, “I was surrounded by soldiers who hated every minute of their forced conscription, by officers who were spying on each other and by a military commissar who tried every day to put someone in jail, including me.” You were never innocent until proven guilty, you were always guilty, it all depended on what charges the commissar would manufacture about a person they wanted imprisoned. …

Aurel’s constant dream was to have the Polish Ministry of Health give him a stipend for a postgraduate medical program in Warsaw, a suitable position in a good teaching hospital. To thwart those who constantly watched him, he wrote, “Dear Dr. Kim-Ru, I hereby express my total dedication to the cause of socialism in the Soviet bloc. I also voice my desire for Peace on Earth and my willingness to serve the great Marxist-Leninist ideology. I reaffirm that my fate is now in your hands and I’m waiting for your next move. Long live the Proletarian Paradise!” Dr. Mircea explained that, after writing such sentences exclusively for the communist censors monitoring the post office, he “puked three times in protest and hatred of dictatorship.”

Iran Horror: Prisoners in Jail Holding Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe Dying in Large Numbers

POLITICAL prisoners in the Iranian jail where British mother Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is being held are dying in large numbers, an inmate said last night.

It was feared the 41-year-old, jailed since 2016 after being accused of plotting to overthrow Iran’s government, which she denies, had contracted coronavirus. But in recent days she has rallied. The Math of Epidemics

[…]

We see the same shape of curve regarding the total number of deaths in China.

Now, this particular “s-shaped” curve is called a “Gompertz Curve”. It is a curious curve, in that it is not symmetrical. It goes up faster than it levels off. …

You can see why the Gompertz Curve is used to describe epidemics—it’s a very good fit to real-world epidemiological data. And because any given Gompertz Curve ends up at some maximum value that it doesn’t exceed, it also allows us to estimate the part of the curve that hasn’t happened yet. So far, there have been some 7,362 cases in South Korea. The Gompertz Curve estimates that the final total will be on the order of some 8,100 cases or so.

Now, that’s not a hard number, of course. All kinds of things can happen to bend the curve either up or down. But it’s better than just making a blind guess.

In an interview regarding his country’s response to the coronavirus threat on Hungary’s Kossuth Radió Friday morning, the Prime Minister was asked why universities were being closed while public schools were remaining open. Orban stated that it is because “there are a lot of foreigners there,” noting that most of Hungary’s early cases of the virus were found among Iranian students.

Peter Hitchens: I Fear Anyone Who Dissents From Today’s Pervasive Culture of Political Correctness Will be Visited by the Thought Police… So, How Long Until Anyone Who Writes an Article Like This is Dragged Away in Handcuffs?

[…]

Already, to my certain knowledge, cold and unsympathetic minds pore over my writings, often going back for decades, trying to find passages that they can claim have offended them. What actually offends them is the discovery that anyone disagrees with them.

Individuals like me must therefore be humiliated, silenced and, in the end, destroyed and forgotten.

People will travel long distances, and make great efforts, to be offended or insulted in this way.

They rifle through ancient archives to uncover remarks made in a less censorious age, so that they can repeat them and demand the punishment of their authors.

The claim to have been affronted in some way is now the unanswerable charge, by which people such as me will eventually be thrust out of society into a silenced and despised outer darkness, where we will be heard and seen no more.

We will, in my view, be lucky if we do not end up being led away in handcuffs, while former colleagues jeer at our humiliation.

You think this is exaggerated or alarmist? I am not so sure. Read on.

  1. Does anyone else think its funny that even with the open borders EU implementing border controls, Boris Johnson’s U.K. still has not implemented any more border restrictions? The conservative party is showing it’s true colors again.

  2. “Pope Francis has written a powerful letter urging priests in Rome to step up the spiritual care of souls during the coronavirus pandemic.” I don’t see him going around visting the sick…

  3. “Greek Government Erects 1.5-Meter Tall Concrete Blocks at Its Border to Defend Europe From Fighting-Aged Migrant Invaders” Isn’t this too low? They’re not fighting Hobbits over there… It makes attack a bit harder, but I doubt it stop anything.
And I feel like Czech hedgehogs threaded with bard wire would be a much more effective obstacle for both humans and machines. Even if it’s a cheaper, less sturdy variation.

    • huh, wasn’t asking for subscriptions when I read the article earlier. Sorry to anyone trying to read it now.

    • Yes. That was was a real sicko. These Koran virus washed savages. Black attacks. Pakis demanding and getting room to groom. Your money and services or your wife. After historical, WW2 and the colonial experience one would have thought – “No way Ali! One motel step closer and you are dead.”
The feminists are accommodating? Now there is something in the air. In the past it was called, Revolution – with a capitol “R”.

  4. A 33-year-old German man last Sunday had half of his face cut off by a fighting-aged Iraqi migrant after the migrant attacked him with an ax on the streets of Munich.—
