Did Merkel Drive Germany Into a Recession?

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Growth ground to a halt at the end of the year in Germany, Europe’s largest economy, as manufacturing remained in a slump and exports fell, official figures showed Friday.

The flat reading underlines the challenge facing the broader eurozone economy as it struggles against headwinds from the U.S-China trade dispute and Britain’s departure from the European Union.

Beleaguered Biden Turns to Must-Win South Carolina

South Carolina had long been viewed as former Vice President Joe Biden’s firewall in the 2020 race, but after disastrous finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, Democrats are beginning to fear that even it may escape him, effectively dooming his campaign.

Biden currently leads in virtually every public poll out of the first-in-the-South primary state and has maintained strong support among black voters, who make up more than half of South Carolina’s Democratic primary electorate.

Judge Takes Rare Step to Help Serve Elusive Ghislaine Maxwell With Lawsuit

Jeffrey Epstein crony Ghislaine Maxwell is so impossible to find that a Manhattan judge has taken the rare step of allowing her to be served with a new lawsuit — by email, according to a federal court filing Friday.

Lawyers for Epstein sex-assault-accuser Annie Farmer had griped to federal Judge Debra Freeman that they’ve been trying to find the disgraced British socialite to serve her with the complaint, filed in November, but that she’s done such a good job of hiding that they haven’t been able to get to her, court documents show.

“Plaintiff has attempted to locate and personally serve Maxwell to no avail. Her counsel has conducted extensive public records searches and located various addresses for Maxwell,” Farmer’s lawyers wrote in a Jan. 27 motion imploring Freeman to allow them to serve Maxwell using “alternate” means.

Caroline Glick: Build Bibi Build!

The UN Human Rights Council’s release Wednesday of its blacklist of companies with financial ties and business relations with Israeli Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria is a reminder of Israel’s vulnerability and the vulnerability of Jews worldwide. The vile, bigoted list, which singles out for boycott firms that do legitimate business with law-abiding Israelis just because they are Jews is yet another example of the UN-led international community’s anti-Jewish bloodlust.

For eight years, under then-President Barack Obama, the US green-lighted these witch hunts. Since Donald Trump took office, the US has led an aggressive effort to punish institutions that scapegoat and otherwise discriminate against Israel and Jews in the US and around the world, beginning at the UN.

This state of affairs is a welcome relief. But Israel cannot rest on its laurels. Trump is standing for reelection this year. And the one central truth of elections that they are unpredictable.

Currently, the Democratic frontrunner is for the nomination is Senator Bernie Sanders. In a crowded, radical, largely anti-Israel field of candidates, Sanders, the self-avowed socialist, stands out as the most radical and most anti-Israel candidate. Sanders’ victory in the New Hampshire primaries Tuesday consolidated his control over the party’s progressive base.

The implication of Sanders’ power is straightforward. Whether or not he wins the Democratic nomination, he has already won control over the party’s positions and ideology. His are the ideas and policies everyone else is rushing to embrace. Sanders once said that he wants the Democratic party to look like Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party in Britain. And now, thanks to his consolidation of the progressive base, it increasingly does.

The Corbynization of the party was on abject display last weekend when AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby issued a groveling apology to the Democratic party for a Facebook ad it ran last week against “the radicals in Congress.”…

Susan Wojcicki Reflects on YouTube Switch From Being “Raw” And “Authentic” To Policies That Favor Legacy Media

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has marked the video sharing platform’s 15th birthday by reiterating the site’s commitment to removing content, reducing recommendations to content that doesn’t break any rules, and boosting “authoritative voices,” legacy media outlets that get preferential treatment in YouTube’s algorithms at the expense of the independent creators who have helped build the site during these 15 years.

WSJ: No Sex ‘Spectrum’ Beyond Male and Female

The Wall Street Journal has issued a throwdown to the gender lobby, insisting in an op-ed Thursday that sex is binary and there is no “spectrum.”

“In humans, reproductive anatomy is unambiguously male or female at birth more than 99.98% of the time,” note biologists Colin M. Wright and Emma N. Hilton. “The evolutionary function of these two anatomies is to aid in reproduction via the fusion of sperm and ova.”

  1. I suppose when the Swedish Interior Minister is accosted by a group of young african toughs, robbed, beaten, and then urinated upon, he will be as equally sympathetic and understanding of his attackers due to the hopelessness of their place in Swedish society.

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one… May the micturation of a thousand africans find him and wash his ignorant tolerance away.

      • I don’t think african savages discriminate. Kind of like a bunch of wolves hunting a moose… They travel in packs anyway.

  2. One woman is heard yelling: “Someone make the police do something!”

Interesting comment. I’m not sure what the UK Police are for any more but, if the safety of its people and their property are part of their remit they are not taking it seriously.

  3. Once in the Moscow metro …
    https://lenta.ru/news/2020/02/14/breasts/

A Moscow resident was beaten in the subway by a man “looking like a Caucasian nationality” after she showed her chest to an unfamiliar subway passenger. Her friend Karina Grafenberg wrote about this on her page on VKontakte.

According to Grafenberg, the incident occurred on the night of February 13. She and her friends, four people, rode in a half-empty subway car. At that moment, an unfamiliar young man approached her friend to meet her. “He asked her to show her breasts for the photo, she showed,” Grafenberg wrote.

These actions did not please the acquaintance of a young man who had previously sat at the other end of the car and watched. The man began to shout insults and demand that the girl leave the carriage. He looked about 25 years old, he was “with a beard and a hat.” The company refused to leave and offered to leave the man if “he does not like something.”

After that, the man allegedly approached his girlfriend and began to beat her in the face with his fist. Grafenberg began to defend her and also received several hits. Other people tried to drag the attacker, but he did not calm down, threatened with rape, murder, and also insulted others “on the basis of nationality and gender.”

At the station, police officers entered the carriage. The attacker tried to escape, he was detained at Trubnaya station. The injured were taken to the 9th police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate on the Moscow Metro in the Lublin region. There, they questioned the witnesses, took the victims for a medical examination, and removed the beatings. According to Grafenberg, bruises remained on her body, and her friend’s lip was cut, a piece of tooth was broken off, her eye was damaged, and her face was swollen from hematomas.

  4. Al-Khol camp in Syria littered with snow
Finnish women report that their children are freezing. The camp for family members of militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization contains 11 Finnish women and about 30 children.

… With the permission of a relative of a Finnish woman in a camp, Yle publishes a photo showing that there is more snow in the Al-Khol region than in Southern Finland.

If she really is a “Finnish woman”, then she is used to snow.

  5. The “official” death toll by the PRC is irrelevant since crematoriums there are said to be struggling to keep up with the large numbers of bodies they’ve been receiving daily for weeks now. Meaning more then one crematorium is operating 24/7. One in Wuhan itself being capable of cremating 576 bodies in a single day. So here we have the discrepancy between the “official” death toll nowhere approaching the number of bodies being cremated on a daily basis.

Facts are persistent, stubborn things that can’t be replaced by poor excuses by weak willed apparatchiks. But then you have the Fifth Column of the apparatchiks suppressing the truth such as the big tech companies. So that the truth is out there but you just can’t have access to it thanks to social justice warriors like Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and Pichai Sundararajan.

    • Granted, the Chinese are likely being dishonest about figures for the pandemic, but they cannot hide figures everwhere, especially outside their country. If death tolls and infection rates are truly that much higher than official numbers, then it should show up in statistics from other countries – or on those cruise ships which are quarantined. As far as I am aware, this is not the case so something doesn’t quite add up unless the infection rates in Wuhan are so much higher that a death toll of 1 -2 percent still adds up to almost too many daily to cremate with existing capacity.

    • Big tech is now the Ministry of Truth. Twitterführer Jack Dorsey and Comrade Kommissar Zuckerborg will decide what the lumpen proles can see and think.

  6. Locust swarm? Oh my. What would Greta do? Remember the previous post about one of the poor downtrodden squad members saying the constitution was sexist?
How about someone making a spoof of the old Right Said Fred song where the constitution is too sexy.
Don’t worry about a recession Germanystan is destroyed by the frau who opened the floodgates for an invasion of her own country.
She is from the former DDR which was not democratic or a republic.
Americans are lamenting the dual justice system now that derp staters are getting away but the poor people knew about this long ago.
Praise Kek and peace be upon his prophet Pepe. Don’t be making any OK hand signals now you wayciss!
