Church Tire-Slasher Tells Cops ‘I Don’t Like Christians’: Police
The man allegedly told Palos Hills police he slashed tires on 14 cars in church lots because he doesn’t like Christians.
PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills man is accused of vandalizing cars at two local churches Osama E. El Hannouny, 25, was charged with 14 misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and possession of cannabis. More charges, including felonies, may be forthcoming.
Around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17, Palos Hills police went to First Baptist Church, 11015 S Eastwood Drive, for a report of cars vandalized in the parking lot. While officers were investigating the scene, they learned that more cars were found damaged at Sts. Helen and Constantine, 11025 S Roberts Road. The tires on vehicles in both lots had been slashed, police said.
Palos Hills police reviewed security video which showed a man in a black hooded sweatshirt, later identified as El Hannouny, slashing tires. Officers located El Hannouny, who they said matched the description of the man in both church parking lots.
El Hannouny allegedly admitted to slashing tires of cars at the churches because he didn’t like Christians, police said.

Confederate Monument at Center of Protests in Chatham County Taken Down
The embattled Confederate monument in downtown Pittsboro came down early Wednesday morning after standing outside the historic courthouse for 112 years, Chatham County officials said.
As concerns for public safety grew and the costs of protecting the statue have mounted, officials decided to remove it, according to a county spokeswoman. The county has spent more than $140,000 on security measures, as of Nov. 18, Dudley said.
“Over the past three months, protests continued to escalate week by week, growing larger and more violent,” Kara Dudley said in a news release, referring to the protests that happen nearly every Saturday.

Embattled Illinois prosecutor Kim Foxx announced her run for re-election in a dramatic commercial where she admits she mishandled the high-profile Jussie Smollett case and says her office is attacked every day for it.
Foxx announced Tuesday that she is running for re-election as Cook County State Attorney in a news release and shared a commercial on social media where she admits in the Empire actor’s case ‘I didn’t handle it well. I own that’.

Court Filing Alleges That DNA Test Shows Hunter Biden Fathered Arkansas Woman’s Baby

A former vice chancellor at City Colleges of Chicago and seven others have been indicted on federal charges alleging they ran a $350,000 kickback scheme that awarded college contracts to a series of companies with ties to the administrator’s relatives and associates.

Federal prosecutors have charged former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh with 11 counts of fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy in what they allege was a corrupt scheme involving her sales of a self-published children’s book series.
In a grand jury indictment made public Wednesday, prosecutors allege Pugh defrauded area businesses and nonprofit organizations with nearly $800,000 in sales of her “Healthy Holly” books to unlawfully enrich herself, promote her political career and illegally fund her campaign for mayor.

Jussie Smollett Sues City of Chicago for Malicious Prosecution
Jussie Smollett says the $10,000 he was mandated to pay after the criminal case against him was closed should prevent the city of Chicago from seeking reimbursement for the police investigation following his claim, back in January 2019, that he was a victim of a racist and homophobic attack.
Attorneys for the former “Empire” actor filed a response Tuesday to Chicago’s lawsuit in federal court. They also filed a counterclaim against the city, saying Smollett was the victim of a malicious prosecution that caused humiliation and extreme distress.

A new Institute of Politics at Harvard University poll released Monday found that only about one-third of young Republicans across the nation feel comfortable sharing their political opinions with their professors.

Students at a university in New York who took part in a test to go without their cellphones for a week reported that they felt refreshed, happier, more focused and more relaxed.
Participants at Adelphi University took part in the course in an effort to break their cycle of dependency and addiction.

UC Berkeley Braces for Protests Against Ann Coulter Event
BERKELEY — UC Berkeley is hoping to avoid another chaotic clash tonight as it gears up for expected protests on campus in opposition to an anti-immigration speaking engagement by right-wing pundit Ann Coulter.
UC Berkeley officials would not say what security precautions had been taken ahead of the event. An advisory was sent out to students notifying them that there will be a police presence on campus.
The event, hosted by the Berkeley College Republicans student group, is titled “Ann Coulter: Adios, America,” after her 2015 book and billed in a Facebook event page as Coulter speaking about “the current United States immigration system and the dangers of mass immigration.”

Italy: Top Court Confirms 9-Yr Term for Foreign Fighter
1st female fighter joined ISIS in Syria in 2014, never came back
(ANSA) — Rome, November 20 — The supreme Court of Cassation on Wednesday upheld a nine-year sentence for Italy’s first woman foreign fighter, who went to join ISIS in 2014 and never returned.
A terror conviction this became definitive for Maria Giulia ‘Fatima’ Sergio.
The high court of appeal rejected appeals for her and another four defendants.
These included her Albanian husband, Aldo Kobuzi, who got 10 years again.
They also included a Canadian-born ‘indoctrinator’, Haik Bushra, who got nine years also.
Sergio was tried in absentia after going to Syria to be a combatant for the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) extremist group in 2014.
Her father Sergio Sergio was sentenced to four years in jail in the first-instance trial.
Sergio’s sister was tried separately and sentenced to five years four months in prison.
The family, all of whom were converts to Islam, were arrested in July 2015 when prosecutors said they and seven other suspects had joined ISIS and were on the verge of leaving to fight in Syria. The mother, Assunta Buonfiglio, died of cardiac arrest aged 60 in October 2015, on the eve of her release into house arrest.

UK: Redcar Tory Councillor Suspended in Islamophobia Probe
A Conservative councillor has been suspended from the party in an Islamophobia row.
Malcolm Griffiths, who represents Hutton on Redcar and Cleveland Council, on Teesside, is alleged to have shared, commented on and liked Islamophobic content on social media.
A Conservative Party spokesman said an investigation into the allegations was under way.
Mr Griffiths has been approached for comment.

China Ramps Up Coal Power Despite Emission Pledges
China is set to add new coal-fired power plants equivalent to the EU’s entire capacity, as the world’s biggest energy consumer ignores global pressure to rein in carbon emissions in its bid to boost a slowing economy.
Across the country, 148GW of coal-fired plants are either being built or are about to begin construction, according to a report from Global Energy Monitor, a non-profit group that monitors coal stations. The current capacity of the entire EU coal fleet is 149GW.
While the rest of the world has been largely reducing coal-powered capacity over the past two years, China is building so much coal power that it more than offsets the decline elsewhere.

Chinese Communists Replace Statue of Jesus With a Lightning Rod
Officials of China’s United Front have removed a statue of Christ the King from the steeple of the church of Linjiazhuang in Shandong, replacing it with a lightning rod.
Calling Christian symbols on church rooftops “too visible,” the United Front also tore down crosses from the church of Wuda (Inner Mongolia) and from the church of Zhumadian (Henan), reported AsiaNews, the official press agency of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions.
The removal of the statue of Jesus forms part of the program of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to “Sinicize” religion in China by expunging it of Western influence and making it more compatible with the tenets of Chinese socialism, the report said.

Hong Kong Protests: Traffic at a Standstill as Hundreds Continue Lunchtime Disruption Across City
Hundreds of protesters showed up in three districts at lunchtime on Wednesday, halting traffic in part of Kwun Tong.
The protesters used traffic cones, rubbish bins and railing to block off Tsun Yip Street, Wai Yip Street, and Kwun Tong Road, chanting slogans as they marched along the roads.
But in Central, dozens of police officers were deployed along Pedder Street and Des Voeux Road Central to prevent the protesters from walking into the road, raising a blue flag several times to warn that the rally was illegal.

No resolution to the bitter stand-off at Hong Kong Polytechnic University appeared to be in sight on Tuesday night as 60 to 100 protesters remained on campus, determined to resist capture and not join the 1,000 who had so far either surrendered or been arrested.

Masked Men Attack Hong Kong Newspaper Facility, Set Fire to Printing Presses, Papers
Masked intruders entered a printing facility for the Epoch Times in Hong Kong on Tuesday morning and set fire to newspapers and printing equipment, the outlet reported.
The Epoch Times is a multilanguage newspaper that is distributed in countries all over the world and has been published in Chinese since 2000. The organization has been reporting on pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, which has included coverage that could be viewed as critical of police as they cracked down on demonstrators.

Afghan, Iraqi, And Iranian Asylum Seekers Arrested for Gang Rape of 14-Year-Old German Girl
Police have arrested three asylum seekers for the gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl on Halloween night in the German city of Ulm.
The three asylum seekers, from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, in custody are aged 15, 16, and 26 and are three of five suspects in the case. Investigators say there could have been even more people involved in the suspected gang rape, newspaper Münchner Merkur reports.

Italy: Zingaretti Clashes With Di Maio Over ‘Ius Soli’
M5S leader plays down row, says ‘ended things’ with Salvini
(ANSA) — Rome, November 18 — Centre-left Democratic Party (PD) leader Nicola Zingaretti has clashed with the leader of his government partner, the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), over introducing a ‘ius soli’ (law of the soil) citizenship law for immigrant children.
At a PD national rally at the weekend Zingaretti said the progressive party must get behind moves to introduce ius soli or, as an alternative, ‘ius culturae’, granting citizenship when immigrant kids have completed five years of schooling in Italy.
But M5S leader and Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, who endorsed the tough migrant and security laws of former partner, League leader and ex-interior minister Matto Salvini in the last government, dismissed the idea.
“Half of the country is under water and some people thinking of ‘ius soli’, can you believe it?” he said.
With the M5S spiralling downwards in the polls Di Maio is loth to disown the anti-migrant moves of Salvini, with whom he formed the first alliance backing Premier Giuseppe Conte.
A second alliance, between the PD and the M5S, was formed after salvini brought down the first one hoping to cash in on high polling numbers in August.
The new M5S-PD government has been dogged by constant bickering which has sparked speculation about how long it will last.
The speculation surged again Sunday after the uis soli clash.

Di Maio also denied supporting Salvini policies, saying he had “ended things” with the former interior minister when he pulled the plug on the Cone 1 government.

Over 1,350 Migrants Arrive on Greek Islands in Single Weekend
The Greek coastguard has said more than 1,350 migrants arrived on various islands in the Aegean Sea over the weekend, as tensions boil in the already overcrowded camps.
The coastguard said they picked up a total of 658 migrants from Friday to Monday morning and added that another 730 migrants had managed to land on the coast of one of the Aegean islands near Turkey, newspaper Courrier International reports.

The humanitarian ship Ocean Viking has rescued another 30 people from a boat in distress off the Libyan coast, bringing the total number of migrants aboard the rescue vessel to 125.
Doctors Without Borders said on Twitter that the boat in distress was spotted on Wednesday. The aid groups operates the Ocean Viking jointly with SOS Mediterranee.

UK: Four Boats Carrying 39 Migrants Reach English Shores in Span of Three Hours
Four boats carrying 39 migrants made it to English shores within a span of just three hours on Sunday after they were intercepted by U.K. authorities, bringing the total number of migrant arrivals this month up to 129.
After being intercepted by the U.K. Border Force somewhere in the English Channel, all of the migrants identified themselves as Iranian nationals, the Daily Mail reports.

On Tuesday, a London airport refused to allow Caroline Farrow, a British mother of five and UK director of the pro-life group CitizenGo, to board her scheduled flight to Orlando. She had scheduled the trip in order to deliver a petition to Disney World in person and to speak at a conference. Farrow has long been a victim of harassment from transgender activists, and some of them tweeted statements that suggest they were responsible for the flight ban.
The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) had approved Farrow’s trip to the U.S. Yet when she arrived at the airport, an airline representative told her “Your ESTA has been denied,” the mother told LifeSiteNews. Various pieces of evidence suggest the transgender activists who have long harassed her coordinated to prevent her trip.
