Björn Höcke is the regional leader of the AfD (Alternative für Deutschland, Alternative for Germany) in the state of Thuringia. Political leaders and media outlets have demonized him as a “neo-Nazi”, and now his family has been attacked.

Death threats: Police reinforce protection for Björn Höcke
October 4, 2019
After receiving two death threats against Thuringia’s AfD chairman Björn Höcke, the police have reinforced his protection. The Thüringer Allgemeine reported that the letters also threatened the politician’s family.
According to the MDR, the State Criminal Investigation Office has begun investigations. The two letters were received at Mr. Höcke’s electoral district office in Heiligenstadt and at the AfD party headquarters in Erfurt.
These threats were not the first threats of their kind. What is new, however, is that Mr. Höcke’s family has been the target of an attack. Therefore, since the death threats became known, six police officers have been permanently stationed at the house of the top AfD candidate for the upcoming state elections on 27 October.
