A Brief Interlude

I’m leaving this afternoon to visit family for a couple of days. It’s my first trip away from home since Dymphna died — in fact, I haven’t even eaten in a restaurant since then. So we’ll see how it goes.

There won’t be any news feed until after I get back. However, a couple of my colleagues have agreed to check in from time to time and moderate comments, and may possibly even put up some posts. So the blog won’t be completely idle.

See you later, alligator.

  1. and may the Lord bless you with traveling mercies.
    I wonder if there is a gospel minstrel tour group by that name.

  2. An excellent idea, Baron ! Hope you have a wonderful break, and visit with family. It’s not good for you to be alone in the aftermath of Dymphna’s passing, and time with family will be just the ticket.

    I know it may not seem like you’re alone when you keep so busy, and are in constant contact with your many collaborators every day … but there is no substitute for personal face-to-face presence and contact. Going too long without it isn’t good.

    So don’t give us a thought, but go and clear your head, and let others look after you for a bit !

  3. Dear Baron,

    I was unaware of Dymphna’s demise. My sincerest condolences.

  4. I was wondering when you would do this. Go and take a well-deserved break.

  5. This description fits all western countries in Europe; all the major cities are being transformed for the worse

  6. Enjoy your time away, Baron, even if it’s just a couple of days. We, the regular followers of GoV, know that you’ve been carrying a very heavy load lately. A change of scenerey and time with family can help recharge one’s energies.

  7. I’m Free by Linda Jo Jackson

    Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
    I’m following the path God laid for me.
    I took His hand when I heard Him call;
    I turned my back and left it all.

    I could not stay another day,
    To laugh, to love, to work or play.
    Tasks left undone must stay that way;
    I found that place at the close of day.

    If my parting has left a void,
    Then fill it with remembered joy.
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
    Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

    Be not burdened with times of sorrow
    I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
    My life’s been full, I savored much;
    Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

    Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
    Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
    Lift up your heart and share with me,
    God wanted me now, He set me free.

  8. I am truly sorry. She touched lives across the world.Mostly I lurk here (really everywhere) without comment and I don’t come by as often as I used to, but Dymphna treated me as nicely as a regular on the rare occasion I broke silence. She and you have been doing immensely important work for so long I can’t remember blogs without the two of you. I wish you the absolute best in the future and will remember Dymphna fondly as long as I live. When you see her again in the next life, please give her my best.
