Rockets Over Sderot (Yet Again)

More than two hundred rockets have been fired from Gaza into southern Israel today. According to The Times of Israel, several towns near the Gaza border have been hit, including Ashkelon, Netivot, and Sderot. Dozens of the missiles were reportedly intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system.

Here’s the latest from our Israeli correspondent MC, reporting from Sderot (with video):

I managed to get the videos this morning. These are UN-approved attacks on civilians by the Hamas terrorist administration. You are watching war crimes which will go unrecognised because the victims are Israeli Jews who are just too ‘evil’ to be considered members of the human race.

So we get bombed and nobody gives an (ape or a) monkey.

Hamas is a fundamentalist Islamic group which, because it mainly targets Israeli Jews, is approved by many European and world politicians; they are the ‘friends’ of the British Labour Party.

The videos were taken this morning from my front porch. I apologise for the quality, but I was trying to limit my exposure to shrapnel and any other junk.

The delay between the flash and the bang gives me several miles’ distance, but the closer ones are too fast to track.

I was however determined to get some footage despite the risks, these are more than just overgrown fireworks as some apologists for Islam are wont to declare.

A house in Ashkelon was hit today and there was shrapnel damage. a look at The Jerusalem Post website will show you the stills.

The Israeli retaliations are going on as I write, but they will be limited because, whilst the world condoned the bombing of jooz, it despises any proper Israeli response, calling for ‘moderation’ which is diplo-speak for ‘don’t retaliate or we will condemn it as “disproportionate”.’

So we supply Gaza with fuel, food, and electricity, and they return death and destruction. This just epitomises the self-righteous arrogance of the so-called ‘religion of peace’ and its supporters in London, Brussels, Rome, Stockholm, and Washington DC.

Late update: Israeli TV is reporting that the reason for the rocket attacks is the upcoming Eurovision song contest, which will be held in Tel Aviv.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for editing and uploading this video:

  1. It is only a matter of time before these peace-loving rocket scientists learn how to attach chemical warheads to their rockets of peace.

What a shame the apologizers in the UN and in academia here and in Europe cannot be made to stand in the path of those rockets they so love.

    • With the history of Jews getting gassed in the Holocaust, I suspect that a chemical shell would likely be one of the few things that could trigger an extreme and truly disproportionate reaction from the Israelis.

Saddam Hussein didn’t dare. Neither did Hezbollah. I think that they know what would happen, and it wouldn’t be pretty.

  2. It’s time to elicit support and backing from the naive west.
Muslims don’t like Jews to be in their ancient home. In 1953 400,000 Jews survived the previous massacres and were kicked out of Iraq and were not allowed to take any money, silver, even personal gold, and valuables at all. Even gold teeth were extracted just like the German Jews. The same happened to the Jews of Egypt, Syria, etc.

And the Palestinians talk about the “right to return” to Israel.

How many people in the west or the world, or Nobel recipients have the courage to mention how muslim countries turned all the native Jews into refugees and treated as if they were never the citizens of those countries.

    • Not sure about your figure for Iraqi Jews, Adam, but I’d be happy to be better informed: I understood the total for Jews expelled from the MENA, often with far too little intervention from the occupying Allied forces, was around 850,000, of whom about 80% settled in Israel (not always without friction), though I did meet a young Israeli man a few years ago in Munich, who said his family had left Tunisia voluntarily- but they were probably exceptions.

I did enjoy reading, some years back, that the Indian commander who led the defeat of the Pakistani forces in the war of 1971 was of Iraqi Jewish heritage!

      • From Wiki: That Indian commander was : Sam Manekshaw.

I saw That number of Jews in Iraq in the 19 thirties statistics too long ago I cannot remember the source. In the beginning of the twentieth century many merchants, ministers, educators in Iraq were Jews. Not because the muslims loved the Jews but because they needed the Jewish talents, as the muslims were too busy with 3 and 4 wives to get any education. Jews studies Torah so it was easy for them to learn another language ( Arabic and get a job).

Even today on youtube I see Iraqi Jews talking and singing about their lives in Iraq, which they loved so much. They were born there since the Times of Nebuchadnezzar:

        ◄ Psalm 137:1 ►
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

And what do you mean by : “not always without friction”
Do you mean that Jews from the Middle East were not respected. I believe that. Just Look at the Rat Bernie Sanders. But the Jews had no choice: They were kicked out of their country and their own home.

Palestinians themselves said that 1400 jihadis were killed. He said 10 000.

  3. Once again, do hang on in there MC, because you’re holding the fort for ALL of us.

  4. It must be terrifying to have rockets flying overhead, but knowing that the targets are indiscriminate—any Israeli, any Jew, anyone, anywhere in Israel—would add to the terror.

Reports now state that 450 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel since Friday (that would have been Friday, the Muslim holy day). The CBC calls this and the Israeli response “cross-border violence” and “cross-border hostilities.” Not until the seventh paragraph of the article below is the reader told about the 450 rockets from Gaza, and even then it’s unclear as to which side initiated the “violence.”

    Here’s the link:

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/israel-airstrikes-gaza-rockets-hamas-palestinians-1.5123653

The article is often updated so it may be changed from the one I read, but the theme originally was one of Israeli defensive actions being equated with Hamas attacks. I notice on reading the latest version that this has been added:”The latest round of violence began two days ago when an Islamic Jihad sniper fired at Israeli troops, wounding two soldiers, according to the Israeli military.”

The usual standard criticisms of Israel also appear, but I suspect that there’s been some pressure on the media to get the facts out and not allow the typical spin to predominate the news. Why else would the fact of the initial aggression not be included in the earlier versions?

Our thoughts are with you and your family, MC. Thanks for your first-hand account.

  5. I’m confused.

The Israeli embargo of Gaza is supposed to be so restrictive, it starves babies, ruins nascent businesses, and drives the Gaza inhabitants to such extreme poverty and joblessness, they can only exist on continuing handouts from the non-Muslim dhimmis of Europe and the US.

The bright spot is, the Gazans may not be able to import cement or toothbrushes or diapers, but their ingenuity allows them to smuggle rockets and bombs to use on Israeli civilians. An example of the ingenuity and resilience of the human spirit.

Being serious for a moment, Israel is setting itself up for a fall by making itself dependent on US foreign aid. That may go well under the Trump administration, but imagine the US Presidency in the hands of one of the non-white, non-octogenarian candidates for the Democrat nomination. It’s a lot easier to extract themselves now than in 4 or 8 years.

  6. @Ronald, the Israelis are not financially dependent on US aid as much as on their extensive symbiotic technological, military, and political relationship with the US. As much as they would like, they cannot enjoy a similar relationship with other major powers: the EU, Russia, or China. Netanyahu, better than most Israeli politicians, very well understands the need to diversify Israel’s international relationships. Remarkably, he has a mutually respectful personal relationship with Putin. Although I have been a Democrat most of my life, I do not trust most of the current Party leadership to be supportive of Israel. Hopefully, the current window of opportunity lasts beyond Trump’s current term.

  7. Ramadan starts on Monday, with the pre dawn gorging breakfasts, to get through the non eating day until dusk, when all you can eat when the sun goes down.
It can be a time of creating and spreading some fear, like rockets into Israel, so that the self protective retaliatory strikes etc.. will create martyrs to make an issue over Jews and Israel, during the “Holy month”.
This is a time of starvation and gorge, and much more of reading the koran, making prayers and deeds are multiplied while “fasting” in spiritual rewards during this “sacred” month.
