Nearly 102 Million Americans Do Not Have a Job Right Now — Worse Than at Any Point During the Last Recession

Wouldn’t it be horrible if the number of Americans without a job was higher today than it was during the Great Recession of 2008 and 2009? Well, that is actually true. As you will see below, nearly 102 million Americans do not have a job right now, and at no point during the last recession did that number ever surpass the 100 million mark. Of course, the U.S. population has grown a bit over the last decade, but as you will see below, the percentage of the population that is engaged in the labor force is only slightly above the depressingly low levels from the last recession. Sadly, the truth is that the rosy employment statistics that you are getting from the mainstream media are manufactured using smoke and mirrors, and by the time you are done reading this article you will understand what is really going on.

Before we dig into the long-term trends, let’s talk about what we just learned.

US Job Growth Surges in April, Beating Expectations With 263,000 Added

The U.S. economy added 263,000 jobs in April, soaring past Wall Street’s expectations for an increase of 185,000 jobs, while unemployment fell to the lowest rate since 1969.

The unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent, beating analysts’ expectations of 3.8 percent. The labor force participation rate, meanwhile, was little changed at 62.8 percent, from 63 percent the month prior. Average hourly earnings — which investors were closely watching for signs of inflation — rose by 6 cents to $27.77. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by about 3.2 percent, slightly missing expectations of 3.3 percent.

Barr’s Review of FBI ‘Spying’ On Trump Campaign Has Wide Reach

Attorney General William Barr has begun to fill in details on his controversial pledge to investigate whether the FBI and Justice Department engaged in improper “spying” on the Trump campaign in 2016.

In a contentious hearing this week on Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, Democrats accused Barr of sounding like President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. But some Republicans encouraged him to lay out the contours of the nascent surveillance probe that he made clear is among his top priorities.

Big News — Verified by NOAA — Poor Weather Station Siting Leads to Artificial Long Term Warming

[…]

A field experiment was performed in Oak Ridge, TN, with four instrumented towers placed over grass at increasing distances (4, 30, 50, 124, and 300 m) from a built-up area. Stations were aligned in such a way to simulate the impact of small-scale encroachment on temperature observations. As expected, temperature observations were warmest for the site closest to the built environment with an average temperature difference of 0.31 and 0.24 °C for aspirated and unaspirated sensors respectively. Mean aspirated temperature differences were greater during the evening (0.47 °C) than day (0.16 °C). This was particularly true for evenings following greater daytime solar insolation (20+ MJDay-1) with surface winds from the direction of the built environment where mean differences exceeded 0.80 °C. The impact of the built environment on air temperature diminished with distance with a warm bias only detectable out to tower-B’ located 50 meters away.

Bokhari: Link-Banning is Facebook’s Terrifying New Censorship Tool

The banning of multiple political commentators from Facebook and Instagram, including conservatives Paul Joseph Watson and Laura Loomer, is an outrage against the ideals of an open Internet on its own. But beyond the bans on individuals, Facebook has deployed an even more terrifying tool of censorship — link-banning.

The mainstream media were, of course, tipped off about the bans in advance, and the Atlantic’s report contains the following eye-opening detail. Not only has Alex Jones’ personal account now been banned from Facebook, in addition to PrisonPlanet editor-in-chief and YouTube star Paul Joseph Watson, but all links to Infowars sites are now banned across the platform. Share Infowars too often, and you’ll be banned too.

This takes censorship on social media to altogether new levels. If you post Infowars content on Facebook or Facebook-owned Instagram, your post will be removed. If you post it repeatedly, you will be banned.

Note the wording, too — you’ll be banned unless you’re condemning Infowars. Facebook is now brazenly using its power to reward certain political positions and punish others.

This isn’t censorship of an individual or a group over a violation of terms of service. It’s the wholesale ban of an independent media site, which for all the criticism levied against it, has had a major impact on the politics of the United States…

Whatever your criticisms of Infowars — and there are many — this is an attack on the independent media as a whole. It’s an unprecedented tilting of the scales in favor of Democrat-approved media, and it will have an enormous impact on the 2020 election.

That’s the point of course. Since Trump won in 2016, Silicon Valley has been animated by a single mission — ensure it never happens again.

[Comment: These internet ghettos were the biggest tech bait and switch ever. Once the customer base increased to a certain amount and people were dependent on these sites then the control hammer came down.]

Book: Obama Saw ‘Personal Insult’ In Trump Victory

Barack Obama saw the 2016 presidential victory by Republican Donald Trump as a “personal insult” and expressed disbelief that the American people had “ turned on him,” according to a new book.

The Daily Mail of London reported the new edition of “Obama: The Call of History” by New York Times correspondent Peter Baker “lays bare Obama’s fury over the election results.”

Originally released in 2017, the book now has been updated, with “ electrifying” reporting about election day, the Daily Mail said.

“Barack Obama admitted ‘ this stings’ after the 2016 election result and spent the night watching the movie Dr Strange to try and distract himself, a new book claims,” reported the Daily Mail. “Obama could not believe the American people had ‘ turned on him’ for a man he had written off as a ‘ cartoon.’“

Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg Sat Down With Hillary Clinton

Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., who has been recently surging in the polls, requested the meeting, the sources say. He’s the latest 2020 contender to meet with Clinton, the 2016 Democratic nominee, as she offers advice on what she learned from her race. Others who have met with her include Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.).

EPA Says Roundup Safe to Use

‘No risks when used in accordance with its current label’

(Washington Examiner) Regulators at the Environmental Protection Agency announced this week that Roundup weed killer is safe to use.

“EPA continues to find that there are no risks to public health when glyphosate is used in accordance with its current label and that glyphosate is not a carcinogen,” the agency said in a statement Tuesday. “The agency’s scientific findings on human health risk are consistent with the conclusions of science reviews by many other countries and other federal agencies.”

The EPA’s ruling is a win for Bayer, who gained the rights to Roundup when they purchased agribusiness giant Monsanto last year.

[Comment: More proof EPA is a rubber stamp of corporations. Roundup is comprised of many chemeicals, the combination of which increase the toxicity of Roundup.]

Google Doubles Down, Making Trump Reddit Fan Club Even Harder to Find

Users of the Reddit social media site have noticed that the Reddit fan club of President Donald Trump was quite difficult to find on Google, but not on other search sites. However, rather than fixing the issue, Google appears to have doubled down, making the fan club—/r/The_Donald—even harder to find.

As The Epoch Times reported in April, if one searches the words “Donald Trump” and “Reddit” together on a number of internet search engines such as Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Brave, one finds that the top spot in the results is r/The_Donald—possibly the largest and most active Trump fan club on the internet with some 740,000 subscribers.

New Millipede Species Dates Back 99 Million Years to the Cretaceous Period

A tiny millipede was recently found in 99-million-year-old amber in Myanmar. Scientists have concluded that it is the first fossil millipede of the order Callipodida and, measuring only 8.2 millimeters in length, is also the smallest among its contemporary relatives.

A team led by Professor Pavel Stoev of the National Museum of Natural History found that the structure of the Cretaceous millipede was very different from that of its relatives. As a result, the researchers had to revise the current millipede classification and introduce a new suborder.

Nolte: Poynter Temporarily Pulls Blacklist With a Big Lie and Promise to Return

Poynter’s announcement about pulling its blacklist of 515 news outlets is not only framed around a lie, but a promise the blacklist will return.

The lie is so audacious and flies so hard in the face of what we all know to be true, if Poynter were anything close to a credible institution it would list itself as fake news.

Twice in this three-paragraph statement, Poynter’s managing editor Barbara Allen tells this lie.

Here’s big, fat lie number one: “Our aim was to provide a useful tool for readers to gauge the legitimacy of the information they were consuming.”

And here’s big, fat lie number two: “The list was intended to be a starting place for readers and journalists to learn more about the veracity of websites that purported to offer news[…]”

Lie, lie, lie, lie lie… That is all a lie…

According to Poynter’s own words, its own introduction to its blacklist, the “aim” was to give advertisers a list of news sites that a) they should not advertise with or b) pull their advertising from.

Poynter’s own words promise that their advertiser “blacklist” (yes, Poynter actually uses that word) is better than your advertiser blacklist [emphasis added]:

NYT’s Drops Bombshell… Admits Obama Regime Used Multiple Spies Against 2016 Trump Campaign

Democrat lawmakers took the day off from attacking President Trump.

Instead of attacking their usual target, they spent the entire day attempting to destroy the character of Attorney General Bill Barr. The left knows they’re not dealing with Trump’s former attorney general, Jeff Sessions. They know the truth is about to be revealed because Barr is investigating corruption that Sessions wouldn’t touch.

Democrats and anyone in the media who covered for them know things are about to ugly.

They see the writing on the wall and they’re starting to backpedal. They’re trying to spin their way out of the trouble they’re in by getting out ahead of what’s to come. The New York Times just backpedaled in a big way because they finally admitted spies were within the Trump campaign:

Obama Considered Trump’s 2016 Win as ‘Personal Insult’: New Updates From Book

[…]

According to the book, the former president intended not to comment on his personal opinion while still in power during the transition, but upon meeting Trump in the White House the day after, Obama’s rage increased and was often displayed in private.

However, his anger was not only directed at Trump and the American voters who elected him, according to the book, “to Obama and his team, however, the real blame lay squarely with Clinton. She brought many of her troubles on herself. No one forced her to underestimate the danger in the Midwest states of Wisconsin and Michigan. No one forced her to set up a private email server that would come back to haunt her. No one forced her to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from Goldman Sachs and other pillars of Wall Street for speeches. No one forced her to run a scripted, soulless campaign that tested eighty-five slogans before coming up with ‘Stronger Together.’“

Furthermore, The Daily Mail states that Baker’s book reveals insight into why Obama was initially so hesitant about criticizing Russia or taking any steps to stop interference before the election, fearing an “escalated” response by Russia.

Pete Buttigieg: ObamaCare is Too Conservative

The contenders for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination are coming out of the woodwork, along with their policies — although we still can’t take that for granted. Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg, chief among them, has voiced his opinion on Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

This contentious piece of legislation is depicted by Buttigieg as “a conservative proposal.” It was, after all, conceived at The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank. The mayor is filled with respect; the way Obama came through with enough votes for it was nothing short of a masterwork of policy chops. It was a wonderfully constructed compromise that allowed for private doctors along with a public payer. The right has been playing with the goalposts a bit too much, writing the ACA off as a left-wing brainchild.

The idea that the monster Obamacare became was reared by conservatives is laughable. Stuart M. Butler, Ph.D., distinguished fellow at The Heritage Foundation, balks:

[Comment: Typical Communist liar.]

Red Flag Laws and Individual Rights

Nowhere is subjugation more plain than in the Democrat’s efforts to legislatively institute ‘red flag’ laws. The harsh truth is that ‘red flag’ laws are an affront to the United States Constitution.

A citizen’s right to own and bear arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment. The left infringes upon this basic right using the tactic of incrementalism. Each time the tactic is employed, it is accompanied by the deceitful narrative of protecting people’s lives. The left’s goal isn’t protecting lives, it is controlling lives — subjugating them. As long as Americans are armed, subjugating them requires taking the incremental road while leftists prefer the expressway. Owning a firearm is a basic right of a free society the left would prefer to see you without.

The Second Amendment states, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Look up the word infringe and you’ll find it means “to limit, undermine or encroach upon.” Yet ‘red flag’ laws do exactly that — undermine your right to keep and bear arms.

If you live in a state that has enacted a ‘red flag’ law, an individual can file an affidavit detailing reasons they believe you represent an extreme risk to yourself or society. Whether or not the accuser’s affidavit is based in truth is irrelevant. The simple act of an affidavit filed against you (without you being notified, by the way) means a judge will determine whether or not to issue an extreme risk protection order (ERPO). Never mind that the affidavit can be based on an accuser’s one-sided, possibly nefarious claims. While the law states that clear and convincing evidence must be produced, the standard for clear and convincing evidence is remarkably low. Once an ERPO is issued, law enforcement will then seize your personal property, in this case, your firearms.

Do you get to defend yourself against the accusation prior to your property being seized? Nope. The decision to seize your property is at the discretion of a judge who has never met you nor heard your defense. Notice the absence of something critical that every American citizen rightfully expects: due process. Due process is a right protected by the Fifth Amendment.

Russia or China? Brian Kennedy on America’s Greatest Threats

[…]

Brian Kennedy: Well, I think one of the … the key existential threat is the fact that Americans don’t understand that there is an existential threat. I think we live in a commercial republic here in the United States. We Americans live our lives. We raise our families, we go to church on Sunday, and we expect that there are people in Washington who are worried about the safety and security of the United States. And so in a way the greatest existential threat is that we don’t appreciate that we have enemies abroad, whether it’s Russia or China or parts of the Islamic world that would like to destroy the United States. The real challenge is in a society like ours, getting people to understand that the world’s a dangerous place.

Jan Jekielek: But “One Belt, One Road” is supposed to be a fully global initiative.

Brian Kennedy: Right. Because they see themselves as masters of the world. Now, does that mean they want us all speaking Chinese, and we’re all going to be in camps the way the Uighurs are? No, that’s unrealistic. But if in that process they can so intertwine themselves in the economies—the advanced economies of Europe and the United States and Latin America—they can dictate events for the next century based on that kind of a sophistication. And we in this country, we just don’t look at it that way, or we don’t look at it that way adequately. And I think the American military and the American State Department and CIA are only now waking up to the fact that if they don’t do something now, there will be bad things in the future for the United States.

And the most worrisome thing, I was going to say, the most worrisome thing is that there will come a point when the PRC says, “We don’t really need to work any longer with the United States, that maybe the United States should no longer be a world power. And let’s say the PRC makes a gross strategic miscalculation and decides to engage us militarily for some reason or another. Well, what will the world look like then? Do we want to get into a war with the PRC? No. But they also don’t want to get into a war with the United States. And it’s in that ambition that they have that boldness that I worry that we may not be adequately prepared, and they may not be adequately deterred. And if they’re not adequately deterred they may make mistakes that would cost the lives of millions of Americans—American civilization, perhaps. But also Chinese civilization. I mean, this is how world wars start—with miscalculations. And to the extent that President Trump is committed to rebuilding the American military and doing those kinds of things that make America strong again, I think that can only serve the interests of peace and the interests of the kind of reform that we hope will someday come to China, however far off that may be.

Jan Jekielek: You’ve made me think that even with all the recent wars that we’ve been involved with, unless you were a family, a gold star family, or you knew veterans or something, a lot of people were just simply quite isolated from the reality that we were at war in a sense. I mean, I know I certainly was to some extent.

Brian Kennedy: Yeah, people didn’t quite appreciate it. We were told that Islam was a religion of peace, that the people who attacked us on September 11 were cowards. And so when you look at that, you think: Well, is this really a problem? And Americans didn’t quite appreciate the real threat posed by the Islamic world. And we’ve gone through almost 20 years of this now, and we’re wondering: What does the world really look like? Enter Donald Trump, and he comes in and thinks, yeah, the world’s a dangerous place. We got to get this right. And so that’s a breath of fresh air in a way for the American people.

SEC Endorses MasterCard’s Idea of Cutting Off ‘Right-Wingers’ — Report

Leftists pushing to financially suffocate opposition

Blocking payments to individuals or groups by financial service firms impedes freedom of speech in a free society, journalist Ben Swann has told RT, following reports that MasterCard is allegedly on course to censor the ‘far-right.’

The New York-based firm is reportedly being forced by left-leaning liberal activists to set up an internal “human rights committee” that would monitor payments to “white supremacist groups and anti-Islam activists.”

“The problem is that everyone has their own views and, in a free society, the idea of a free society is that you are free to have your belief systems, as long as you’re not harming anyone else physically,” Swann told RT America. “But your belief system belongs to you and you have the right be wrong. White supremacists have the right to be wrong.”

Skeptical Scientist Hijacks AOC Congressional Climate Hearing

[…]

Energy costs need to be kept as low as possible, especially in cold climates, so that poor people can afford to keep warm in winter. For every death from heat, there are twenty from cold. Fossil fuels, including clean-coal will continue to have an important role to play in advancing civilization and human health over the 21st century. Our focus should be on conservation and health-promoting activities rather than on CO2 and climate change. Unmitigated warming this century is likely to be less than 1 degree Celsius and thus more beneficial than harmful for humanity and perhaps for the planet.

The 7-foot-3 Mayhew played the shaggy, towering Chewbacca, sidekick to Han Solo and co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon, in the original “Star Wars” trilogy.

He went on to appear in 2005’s “Revenge of the Sith” and shared the part in 2015’s “The Force Awakens” with actor Joonas Suotamo, who later took over the role.

Born and raised in England, Mayhew had appeared in just one film and was working as a hospital orderly in London when George Lucas found him and cast him in 1977’s “Star Wars.”

The Spin Begins: CNN’s Camerota and Phil Mudd Try to Justify FBI Spying on Trump…pathetic [Video]

It begins…

The media arm of the DNC is doing the dirty work for the Obama administration and the corrupt intel that spied on the Trump campaign and President Trump.

CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and Phil Mudd worked hard to move the goalpost this morning to make it no big deal that “investigations” were going on into the Trump campaign. They play this corruption off as if it happens all the time.

Watch Camerota’s expression during Mudd’s comments. She’s trying her best to act like she’s getting to the bottom of something. It’s pathetic.

The video above should be EXHIBIT 1 in showing how the media works with the Democrats.

Toilets & Skyscrapers: How Chicagoland’s Elite Push Property Tax Bills Onto Average Joes

Authored by Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner via Wirepoints.org

Many of Chicagoland’s elite know exactly how to pass the property-tax buck onto other residents. For decades they’ve used their powerful connections to cut their own property tax bills and push the costs onto other unsuspecting residents. And that’s left many lower-income homeowners footing ever-larger tax bills.

Green Deja Vu, Repeating Ontario’s Green Folly

Cost of the folly is crushing debt for decades in Ontario. Price increases are baked in for years to come

The Liberal Party of Ontario, Canada passed the Green Energy Act (GEA) in 2009, a limited version of the American Democrat’s Green New Deal. Even without the extremist goals of the Democrats, the Ontario plan was a total disaster; energy prices, bankruptcies, taxes and debt exploded.

The Ontario GEA called for priority and obligatory purchase of green energy projects and streamlined regulatory and approval processes of green energy projects. By comparison the Democrat GND calls for “massive mobilization … complete phase out of fossil fuels, fracked gas and nuclear power … replacing non-essential individual means of transport … eliminating fossil-based fertilizers … it will be necessary to electrify everything else, including transport, heating, etc.”

The radical Democrats also call for massive social engineering. Justice warrior mania runs through it: “corporate takeover … exploitation … people of color … just transition … human rights … harm on communities of color … WWII-scale mobilization … WPA-style public jobs program.” The Democrats piggyback on the UN IPCC report demand for “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society … a mandate that connects the dots between energy, transportation, housing and construction, as well as health care, living wages, a jobs guarantee, and the urgent imperative to battle racial and gender injustice.”

The Ontario Province debacle has led to a debt of CAD $345 billion (US $257 billion), larger than 146 countries. Every Ontarian is saddled by a CAD debt $23,000+ and climbing. Not all of the debt burden is energy related. Fifteen years starting in 2003 of Liberal Party rule were marked by large yearly deficits, bookkeeping chicanery, blunders and scandal. But the Ontario Auditor General pins the costs of going green at CAD $170 billion over 30 years. The Ontario Debt Clock keeps on ticking.

The promises made to get the Ontario GEA passed are familiar:

A Story of CO2 Data Manipulation

[…]

The notion of low pre-industrial CO2 atmospheric level, based on such poor knowledge, became a widely accepted Holy Grail of climate warming models. The modelers ignored the evidence from direct measurements of CO2 in atmospheric air indicating that in 19th century its average concentration was 335 ppmv[11] (Figure 2). In Figure 2 encircled values show a biased selection of data used to demonstrate that in 19th century atmosphere the CO2 level was 292 ppmv[12]. A study of stomatal frequency in fossil leaves from Holocene lake deposits in Denmark, showing that 9400 years ago CO2 atmospheric level was 333 ppmv, and 9600 years ago 348 ppmv, falsify the concept of stabilized and low CO2 air concentration until the advent of industrial revolution [13].

Quote of the Week: Greta Thunberg Claims to be Able to “See” Carbon Dioxide in the Air

At first, I thought this had to be a joke. Then I thought it must be some sort of misinterpretation. Sadly, no…

Of course, with a ~ 410 parts per million concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, we know that is a physical impossibility. Carbon Dioxide is a colorless and odorless gas:

pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/carbon_dioxide#section=ICSC-Number

It also does not reflect or absorb any light within the light spectrum that humans can see. Even if Greta had some special ability to see into the near infrared, the absorption spectrum of CO2 is far removed from the human range of color sensitivity.

The Vanishing: Report Exposes Persecution of Middle East Christians as ‘Close to Genocide’

Organized persecution of minority Christians in their traditional Middle East homelands is approaching genocide and has driven an exodus in the past two decades, a report commissioned by the British Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, warned Thursday.

Millions of Christians in the region have been uprooted from their homes, and many have been killed, kidnapped, imprisoned and discriminated against, the report compiled by the Bishop of Truro, the Right Rev Philip Mounstephen, found.

It also uncovered “shocking” evidence that the persecution is worse today than ever with widespread discrimination across south-east Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and in east Asia — often driven by state authoritarianism and intolerance of religious diversity.

Its findings come after 359 people were killed and more than 500 wounded in attacks at hotels and churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

“The inconvenient truth,” the report finds, is “that the overwhelming majority (80%) of persecuted religious believers are Christians”.

First Time Burqa Ban by a Muslim Society in India

Defying fanatic the pressure of Muslim Clerics and political Islam, a State Muslim Education Society prohibits Burqa & Hijab in its units all over Kerala.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Calicut | May 3, 2019:: When pseudo Pakistani and politically motivated Muslim intellectuals in India like Javed Akhter+ and partisan Muslim Politicians like Asaduddin Owaisi+ & Majeed Memon+ are directly or indirectly opposing the demand of Burqa Ban of Shiv Sena+, a news hits the headlines as a Muslim educational body banned burka/face veil/head scarf in recent from the school-college units run by them.

A major controversy has erupted in the southern Indian state of Kerala after a college in the state’s Malappuram district banned burqa from its school and college premises. What makes this move a massive development the decision has been taken in a Muslim majority region in the state.

The circular was passed by the Muslim Education Society in Calicut on April 17 and it states that burqas in all schools and colleges under MES will be banned. There is a court order that says any dress with is against the changing society should not be permitted, which includes not just burqa but other kinds of dress which they think is not proper. The MES runs 35 colleges and 72 schools, and has around one lakh students on its rolls.

The third paragraph in the circular clearly states that any dress that covers the face fo the woman should be banned.

Various Muslim Clerics and their influential groups have opposed the ban so far.

On Wednesday, Shiv Sena triggered a massive row in a controversial editorial of its mouthpiece Saamna where it demanded a burqa ban in public places and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to follow Sri Lanka’s suit, which banned face veils after deadly bomb blasts ripped through the country on Easter Sunday. Calling for the burqa ban, Shiv Sena said in the editorial that when it could be outlawed in “Ravan’s Lanka, when will it happen in Ram’s Ayodhya?”…

Dark Days in Hong Kong

[…]

Xi Jinping, the current Chinese ruler, once held the Hong Kong portfolio in the Communist Party’s Politburo Standing Committee. He certainly knows that one of the signs of Chinese regime failure is trouble on the periphery, and he is determined that the open defiance in Hong Kong does not spread to other areas far from the center of Chinese power.

Xi has no effective response to Hong Kong, however, and the growing rejection of China there must be of great concern, especially since harsh rule has already lost hearts and minds in China’s west, in both Tibet and what the Chinese call the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Traditional inhabitants of Xinjiang, the Muslim Uighurs, say their land is a separate country, East Turkestan.

“We do not give up,” Chu Yiu-ming, one of the Umbrella Nine, declared from the defendant’s dock on April 9. Chinese dynasties unravel at the edges, and Beijing looks desperate to keep the increasingly resistant Hong Kong, at China’s southern edge, from drifting too far from its control.

Yet More Corruption in Horrifyingly Corrupt South Africa

South Africa has been bleeding money in recent years, but it’s also lost professionals and the wealthy whites who have kept the nation running. The fleeing whites have been running to the safety of other nations because of poor working conditions in South Africa, including legal affirmative action making jobs and job advancement impossible for whites. The South African Fin 24 reported, “About 3,000 super-rich have left SA in the past 10 years.”

Sensible whites are fleeing the nation because of multiple problems with race relations, banking, crime, unemployment, health problems with 19% of the population infected with HIV, educational problems with inadequate buildings and dangerous latrines where kids have fallen in and drowned, and political corruption. It is a seething volcano about to explode.

Rape is common in the major cities, with one man in three admitting to having raped at least one woman and over 25% of women have been victims. A woman is more likely to be raped than learn to read. The crimes are seldom investigated and litigated. If litigated, seldom are there any serious consequences.

Thievery abounds in all areas of society, and every person looks out for himself. Everyone in any place of authority seems to have his hand out. There seems to be a mania to get the bribe before someone else does, as recent hearings have proven…

South Africa is about to become South Zimbabwe in my humble opinion. It seems that what we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history. Zimbabwe, a northern neighbor of South Africa, is in death throes as I write. However, South African officials — which means the communist-controlled ANC that has misruled since the fall of Apartheid — have refused to look reality in the face. Their motto seems to be “continue to loot while there is anything available to loot.”

The Monroe Doctrine for Venezuela

Russia’s successful invasions of Georgia in 2008 and Crimea in 2014 appear simply to have whetted Putin’s appetite. Now, partly because of enormous investments that Russia and China have made in Venezuela’s oil and defense industries, both superpowers are trying to save the Maduro regime by flying in military personnel (as is Russia) and weaponry (from both Russia and China). On April 29th media reports surfaced of Russian air-defense specialists deployed to Venezuela, evidently “sent to ensure the nation’s sophisticated S-300 surface-to-air missiles remain a credible deterrent to any U.S. military action…”

Moreover, reports have emerged that Russia recently requested permission from Malta “to use its airspace to fly military aircraft from Syria to Venezuela,” and that “two Russian military planes also flew through the airspace of Greece and Cyprus from Syria en route to Venezuela on March 22 and 23.”

What else should President Trump do in Venezuela now? Under no circumstances should the Russians be allowed to bring in more troops, planes or war materiel by sea or air. Trump should follow Kennedy’s example with a “quarantine” around Venezuela.

Ron Desantis to Sign Ban on Florida Sanctuary Cities in Historic Victory

Gov. Ron DeSantis is set to sign a ban on sanctuary cities in Florida that shield criminal illegal aliens from deportation in a historic victory for his administration.

For years, Florida Republicans have attempted — but failed — to ban sanctuary cities across the state, which has one of the largest illegal alien populations in the U.S. with at least 775,000 illegal aliens. When DeSantis swept to victory last year in the state’s gubernatorial election against the pro-open borders Democrat candidate Andrew Gillum, he promised to crack down on illegal immigration, an initiative opposed by many of the state’s Republican establishment, including former Gov. Jeb Bush (R).

Now, less than a year after his election, DeSantis is set to sign into law a ban on sanctuary city jurisdictions in Florida, whereby if a county or locality is implementing sanctuary policies, the governor will be able to bring judicial proceedings against sanctuary city officials.

Liberal Feminist Mother Warns Transgender Activists Are Taking Control of Mental Health Profession

A liberal feminist mother of a gender-dysphoric teen warns parents that transgender activists are ensuring it will soon be “nearly impossible” to find a mental health professional who is willing to help these children evaluate their self-perceptions.

“I quickly discovered that it is nearly impossible to find therapists who do this kind of work,” wrote the anonymous mother in a piece that appeared at the Federalist Tuesday. “If a girl presents as transgender today, the vast majority of therapists will immediately affirm the girl’s declared gender identity and ask her what steps she would like to take toward transition.”

Currently, transgender activists are celebrating their success in pressing lawmakers in 16 states and the District of Columbia to ban what they call “conversion therapy.” These political supporters of gender ideology claim therapists who do not immediately affirm the perception of young people claiming to be a gender that is incompatible with their biological sex are “harmful” and “abusive” and must be outlawed.

Snopes Defends Teaching Child Rape to Children

The fake “fact checking” website Snopes has once again attempted to deceive readers, this time lying about a growing scandal in California involving the teaching of pedophilia and pederasty as a “sexual orientation.” But considering the fact that Snopes was founded by sex perverts and con artists, it’s not surprising to see the website try to cover up perversion. Indeed, the Snopes writer even defended teaching children about the rape of children and suggests that pedophilia is only wrong by “modern” standards.

In its April 29 “fact check,” referring to an article published by The Newman Report on April 17 headlined “Pedophilia Being Taught As ‘Sexual Orientation’ in California Schools,” Snopes twisted itself into pretzels lying and then defending the outrageous lesson.

The writer listed the claim in question as: “In 2018 or 2019, Brea Olinda Unified School District in California ‘taught pedophilia as a sexual orientation.’“ Dan MacGuill, who has developed a reputation for publishing lies and propaganda, labeled the claim “false.”

But ironically, he then proceeded to prove and further document the accuracy of the claim. Indeed, MacGuill even included a video of Brea Olinda Assistant Superintendent Kerrie Torres explaining that it is “really important” to teach children about man-boy sex “because we are talking about historical perspectives of how gender relations and different types of sexual orientations have existed in history.”

Why Won’t the Media Say “Christophobia?”

It is a commonplace to brand acts of hatred visited on Jews as anti-Semitic, and more recently, those on Muslims as Islamophobic. Indeed, it is considered callous by some, even ignorant, not to employ the appropriate term, quickly and loudly, if a hateful act is perpetrated on one of the respective groups.

The first known usage of “anti-Semite” dates back to 1879, and “Islamophobe” to 1976, according to the the Oxford English Dictionary, whereas “Christophobe” is entirely absent. The word (and all derivations) simply doesn’t exist outside of a few blogs and crowd-sourced “slang dictionaries.” Even as I type, spell-check rejects it with a red underline.

The Economist Adopts Tesla’s ‘Ludicrous Mode’

[…]

The truth of the matter is that the plants that most of our diet is derived from, the grasses, evolved when CO2 levels were five times what they are today. The following figure is a screenshot from a presentation by Patrick Moore:

The Earth’s atmosphere started off at 200,000 ppm CO2. The first plants came along three billion years ago and by 120 million years ago the atmospheric concentration of CO2 was down to one hundredth of its intial level. And then kept falling. If it had kept on that trajectory all life above sea level would have died off from lack of CO2 about five million years from now. Humans evolved just in time to save Creation. That is the inspiring story that should be told, not that there might be blight.

    • Yes, that’s quite true. But check the reports of write-ins for the party. I think those are considered “spoiled ballots, but they are still defections from the Big Two.

  1. So…Gatestone wants the US in yet another war, this time, the Russians in Venezuela?

Let the good people of Venezuela who elected Marxists to rule them sort this out.

    • Amen to letting them sort it out. It’s amazing how this Venezuela affair has sprung out of nowhere.

Gatestone is outright dishonest about Russia having invaded Crimea or S. Ossetsia. Russians must think Americans are deranged. We can station troops all over the planet but everything SSE of Key West is off limits to everyone. American power could make the Monroe Doctrine de facto holy writ but in an age when a Chinese sub can surface inside a US carrier battle group maybe not so much.

  3. All of Scotland’s parties, including the ‘progressive’ Conservatives and Scotland’s government have agreed to adopt the definition of “Islamophobia” proposed by a Westminster All Party Parliamentary Group.
    https://www.holyrood.com/articles/news/all-scotlands-political-parties-adopt-formal-definition-islamophobia

I doubt I need need to tell anyone here at GoV just how pernicous this document and similar are, nor will I be required to describe “the brazenness of the attack on our freedom of expression,” as Ecaw puts it in:
‘Parliamentarians duped over Islamophobia part 3’
    http://participator.online/articles/2019/05/parliamentarians_duped_over_islamophobia_part_3_20190501.php

I’m ashamed to be Scottish today.

    • The Middle-East has wealthy lobbyists and contribute to politicians’ campaigns.

    • Does any western European country know itself anymore? It’s like in Ireland where you have parties called things like Sinn Fein (we ourselves) and Fine Gael (Gaelic race) yet they’re as globalist as any with no clear distinction of what constitutes Irish hence their odd choice of Taoiseach.
SNP, Plaid [Cymru] (last bit optional and silly logo) have all gone down the same path with a “we’re not British, we’re global citizens” which kind of defeats the purpose of the existence of the countries they’re from as the original reason to be separate was to preserve the local language and culture and presumably people.

    • Fancy bumping into you here Itinerant.

I encourage all British readers to study the APPG report “Islamophobia Defined” referred to by Itinerant:
      https://static1.squarespace.com/static/599c3d2febbd1a90cffdd8a9/t/5bfd1ea3352f531a6170ceee/1543315109493/Islamophobia+Defined.pdf

It is a bogus definition based on the bogus concept of Cultural Racism, but its effects will be very real.

All non-British readers too, because it will likely be coming your way too in time.

  4. re: Weather Station Siting:

It has been well known for a long time that cities often create their own micro-climate. Usually, the temperatures inside a city are higher than outside the city. Caused mainly by the combined effect of large surface area of black asphalt roads and parking lots, concrete roads, stone and brick cladding and the reduction of air circulation due to the positions of the multitude of houses and buildings. Vehicle emissions often play a part in large cities. Tokyo has one of the highest increased micro-climate temperatures.

    • Many monitoring stations in the UK (I note from BBC Radio 4’s “Shipping (weather) Forecast”) are on airfields, military and civilian, so although not generally in cities, they will have large areas of concrete.

  5. re: Roundup weed killer is safe to use

What is not well known to the public is how farmers now use incredibly large amounts of Round-up as a dessicant to dry out a crop before harvesting. This helps them to lower the moisture level of the crop which can often increase the profit margin since they don’t have to pay anything or as much to have the grain or seeds dried by the buyer.

Several recent and very credible reports discovered that most grain and seed products contain high levels of Round-Up glyphosate, including raw unprocessed grain and seed products such as oats. No longer does the term ‘unprocessed’ equal pure and healthy.

I had fed my children a great deal of oatmeal made of raw, unprocessed oats believing it to be nearly perfect and unadulterated. Such oats are now known to have a disturbing amount of Round-Up.

    • I’m not a farmer but I have never seen any farmers here in Western New York apply anything to corn or soy fields near harvest time. Roundup is an incredibly expensive herbicide. I can’t imagine the application of Roundup is in anyway less expensive than turning on the grain dryer to get the moisture content to optimal level.
Do you have a link to share that backs up the claim? I love me some oatmeal in the morning and would really like to know. The use of Roundup to control weeds seems completely safe based on available data, but the amount required to act as a desiccant would be an entirely different question.

    • Please disregard my earlier comment. I did two minutes of surfing and found references to using Roundup pre-harvest.
      So, never mind.

      • As with you, I was very surprised to hear of this. Presumably the bulk cost to farmers for Round-Up is affordable and I would assume many farmers combine their orders to push the cost lower.

I think its use a pre-harvest dessicant is absolutely criminal and should be banned for this use.

The EPA and Bayer claim Round-Up is safe if used as directed. However, pre-harvest application is not the intended application and has not been tested for its safety when used in this manner. Of course Bayer enjoys the extra profits this creates and no doubt if lawsuits are filed due to this practice, Bayer can simply state that they are not to blame since it is the farmers who are using the product in an ‘off label’ or untested manner.

I don’t usually follow much of the news regarding what foods are good for you or bad for you as it seems to be such a circus of views. However, this Round-Up issue is simply disturbing.

  6. re: Ontario’s Green Energy

I live in a very small house with electric heat.

My electricity bills have risen about 250% in the past 12 years.

We cannot afford to keep the house above 62F during the cold Canadian winter. My hands and my feet are very cold now as I type this though I am wearing a sweater and shoes. I wear a toque in the house 4 months of the year. As the cost of electricity rises, the value of my home decreases. It is now worth only what I paid for it 20 years ago. When I drive in the countryside I see endless rows of large windmills which my high electrical bills help to support. Many businesses in the province, large and small, have closed as a result of massive increases in gas and electricity prices.

This is what ‘climate change’ reduction policies do.

  7. re: CO2 Data Manipulation

Considered one of the best programs produced to expose the lies of CO2 and of the entire ‘global warming’ movement is: ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’ Produced in 2007 for Channel 4 in Britain.

It has been known to ALL scientists for years that rises in CO2 ALWAYS occurred 500-800 years AFTER rises in global temperatures. This is well documented data.

  8. Re: Quote of the Week: Greta Thunberg claims to be able to “see” Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

I’d already thought that in Greta, the new cult/religion of Climate Change had found its own Joan of Arc; now she’s claiming supernatural powers, it can only get worse (or, more optimistically, help to discredit her?)

She was interviewed on BBC radio 4 a couple of weeks ago, and claimed that her seeing issues in “black and white” terms, due to her Asperger’s, was an advantage (as if teenagers don’t already, naively, see the world this way). No disrespect to her, or all sufferes from mental disorders, but at the risk of being totally un-pc, this is a handicap, not an asset; I suspect that the aforementioned Joan (however worthy her cause, in that case getting the English out of France) was also “touched”.

    • “Greta Thunberg claims to be able to “see” Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.”

It appears that she suffers from more than Asperger’s Syndrome.

This is reminiscent of some of the supposed visions that some supposedly faithful people had which helped stir thousands to mount the Crusades.

I wonder if such ‘visions’ from faithful socialists such as Thunberg will be used to blow the dog-whistle of all the holy and faithful socialists to rise against us, the new infidels?

    • Certainly her Asperger’s, out of a fear of appearing unkind towards the disabled, will cause many to defend her supposed deep wisdom and visions.

It has been said that perhaps some of the famous Catholic canonised female visionaries of the past claimed to have such abilities out of a subconscious desire to affix the supernatural to their teachings to give them more credibility. As women, they were generally less educated to have the ability to formulate detailed and intellectual essays of a spiritual nature using Biblical quotes or citing the writings of the classical Church thinkers. The teachings of a woman were also often automatically given less weight due to their supposedly weaker minds. If a peasant woman had a desire to teach others some great truths or inspiring messages, they needed something extra to gain credibility and a wider audience. Believing that such messages were given directly by God or some angelic being appears to have sometimes given a measure of credibility to such women. Certainly, if the message was also deemed to agree with Church teaching, such messages were often accepted as genuine. The ability to ‘see’ into the spiritual realm was either fully accepted and revered or at least tacitly accepted, no doubt sometimes out of fear of appearing to be rebellious against God and the message. Perhaps also some feared appearing mean spirited against the poor mental sufferings of a woman.

This all seems familiar when we view the modern culture of the Left. It seems to point to the idea that Socialists often operate in a religious manner concerning their political and social doctrines and how they venerate the messages and their messengers such as Ms. Thunberg.
