Gates of Vienna News Feed 5/24/2019

A parcel bomb packed with nails and screws exploded today in a bakery in the French city of Lyon, wounding at least thirteen people. Authorities played down the severity of the attack, saying that the blast was not very powerful, and all the wounds were from flying glass shards. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

In other news, British Prime Minister Theresa May resigned today, as expected. Her exit may be delayed until late July, however.

Even food expenditure down says Confesercenti

(ANSA) — Rome, May 23 — Italian households’ average consumer spending was 28,251 euros last year, 2,530 euros less than in 2011, according to a report released on Thursday by business association Confesercenti.

A Government Environmentalist Experiment in Brainwashing Parents Through Children in North Carolina

#C02Kult.

That’s the hashtag for it in Germany, where they know a bit about mass hysteria and brainwashing. It shows up every time students are manipulated into another school strike for the “environment”.

The Joan of Arc of C02Kult is Greta Thunberg, the daughter of two Swedish celebrities, and a 15-year-old suffering from Aspergers, who became a popular lefty figure for leading environmental school strikes…

Had Greta been born in another time and place, she might have been just as afraid of witches or subversives. Terrified teens who were encouraged to act on their fears were responsible for everything from the Salem witch trials to the crimes of the Cultural Revolution. The fault lies with the adults who traumatize children and then unleash them on society to win their political battles.

There’s a name for that. Child soldiers.

A recent paper in Nature is titled, “Children can foster climate change concern among their parents” which suggests that the best way to influence adults is by brainwashing their children.

Or, as its abstract states, “Child-to-parent intergenerational learning—that is, the transfer of knowledge, attitudes or behaviours from children to parents—may be a promising pathway to overcoming socio-ideological barriers to climate concern.” The ideological barriers are conservative politics.

Assange May Spend the Rest of His Life in Jail, He’s Got a ‘Hanging Judge’ — CIA Whistleblower

There is little hope for Julian Assange to be given a fair trial in the hands of the US justice system, former CIA analyst and whistleblower John Kiriakou, whose case was handled by the same District Court in Virginia, told RT.

Kiriakou, who blew the whistle on the government-sanctioned torture program in 2007 and was sentenced to 30 months after pleading guilty to leaking the name of an officer involved in waterboarding, told RT that there is high chance Assange might spend the rest of his life in jail.

The US Department of Justice rolled out 17 new charges against Assange under the Espionage Act, a WWI-era document that was aimed at prosecuting spies during war time. Assange became the first journalist or publisher to ever be charged under the century-old law and now faces up to 170 years in prison.

According to Kiriakou, Assange should not count on the court’s impartiality in his case: “They are going to try to make an example of Julian. He’s been charged in the Eastern District of Virginia. His judge was also my judge and ex-Snowden’s judge and [CIA whistleblower] Jeffry Sterling’s judge who reserves every national security case for herself.”

Division III School Kicked Out of Conference for Winning Too Much

The University of St. Thomas has been removed from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) because it has won too many games.

Coach Glenn Caruso has led St. Thomas to six MIAC football titles since 2010 and also reached the finals in 2012 and 2015. That is just too much winning, according to conference officials. The school was dumped from the conference on Wednesday for having too many “competitive advantages,” ESPN reported.

The university reported that the conference was so adamant that the school be removed from the competition that it said it would disband the whole league if St. Thomas sought to remain.

Harvey Weinstein Sexual Misconduct Cases Appear to be Settling for $44 Million

The civil cases against Harvey Weinstein, alleging a range of offenses from creating a hostile work environment to full-fledged harassment and sexual assault, may be nearing resolution. On Thursday, Weinstein Co. co-founder Bob Weinstein’s lawyer notified a Delaware bankruptcy court judge that an agreement had nearly been reached. The $44 million settlement would include $30 million for the accusers, creditors, and former employees of the studio, as well as an additional $14 million in legal fees. The settlement is claimed to be supported by all parties and will be reviewed for approval in a hearing on June 4.

Obama Appointees in the Communist Orbit

This week Rush Limbaugh repeated a quote from James Comey in a New York Magazine interview:

“I’d moved from Communist to whatever I am now. I’m not even sure how to characterize myself politically. Maybe at some point, I’ll have to figure it out.”

It’s hard to pin too much on that quote. Perhaps Comey was joking by calling his vote for Jimmy Carter a vote for a Communist, in mockery of his supposedly fellow Republicans.

Joking about support for Communism is not all that funny in the Obama administration. Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan actually did vote for a Communist presidential candidate. Brennan and Comey are two of the central players in the Russia Collusion Hoax.

Obama choose Communists and Marxists for the highest, most powerful positions in our land, including his closest political advisors, and his head of the CIA. These facts are not in dispute. Most are openly admitted by the people in question, as necessary damage control. Our press chooses not to report them.

Professor Paul Kengor has extensively researched the Chicago communists whose progeny include David Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett, and Barack Hussein Obama. Add the openly Marxist, pro-communist Ayers, and you have many of the key players who put Obama into power.

And it’s not just the s***-covered streets which require highly-compensated “poop patrollers” to try and keep up with the fecal fiasco, or the thousands of used drug needles littering the ground, or the shocking number of aggressive homeless people terrifying tourists; San Francisco is a bastion of property crime — in fact, it’s the worst city in the nation when it comes to burglary, larceny, shoplifting and vandalism, according to the report.

The Government Handbook

When it comes to our republic, the Founding Fathers left us a beautiful instruction manual. It is called the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. It was inspired by the sound irrefutable principles enumerated in the Holy Bible as well some other influences including Blacks Law and Aristotle’s Law of Identity. The Founders did not want the government to be the center of their lives as a dictatorship or overtaxing burden. Not since during the time of Moses and the children of Israel did leaders encourage individuals to be self governed, as opposed to being lorded over by a bully government. Of course, they understood that for such an arrangement to be successful, the people had to be of high moral character.

No liberty oriented government can be sustained if they refuse to properly instruct their offspring about that form of government they hope to sustain it. Our Constitutionally limited form of government has been in danger of sliding into oblivion since 1913. That is when world leaders convened a meeting on Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia. At that gathering, the decision was made to methodically chip away at the “We the People” aspects of American life and replace it with centralized government, mob rule and over taxation. But most important on their list to wipe from our republic was the Judeo/Christian ethics that were the bedrock and inspiring foundations of this land of liberty.

Delingpole: EU Elections Are the Final Vampire Screech of the Dying Deep State

Here are the three things which have most shocked and disgusted (though not surprised) me about the European Elections.

They are all manifestations of the same problem: a bullying, corrupt, self-serving, dishonest, arrogant, politically correct, anti-democratic, left-liberal Establishment which is prepared to do almost anything to stop its entrenched powers being handed to the people.

Electoral Commission raids Brexit Party offices on a mission to seek out accounting irregularities

The Electoral Commission is supposed to be a politically neutral organisation whose job is to ensure fair and honest practice during elections. In fact, it is quite outrageously Remain-biased and since the EU Referendum appears to have been abusing its powers to harass and intimidate Brexit backers and activists.

Its decision to raid the Brexit Party headquarters this week in search of accounting irregularities — it found none — prompted Nigel Farage to describe Britain’s political establishment as “rotten to the core.” I think Farage is right. You hardly need to be a conspiracy theorist to worry about Britain’s Deep State: its grubby fingerprints are over everything.

Making no effort to conceal its globalist leanings, the Irish Times (IT) criticizes Mr. Trump’s “dislike for the EU and his sympathy for Britain’s Brexiteers, particularly Nigel Farage” as something that will not endear him to the Irish people.

New Brexit Referendum Would be a Mistake Says British Ambassador

Jill Morris tells an ANSA Forum that UK wants to maintain strong ties with EU

(ANSA) — Rome, May 23 — Britain’s Ambassador to Italy Jill Morris told an ANSA Forum on Thursday that she does not think it would be a good idea to hold another referendum on whether the UK should leave the European Union. “It would be a strategic mistake to ask the people to express themselves again,” Morris said. “Not respecting the people’s democratic decision would be highly damaging for our democracy. “It is the duty of government and parliament to implement this decision”.

Morris told the forum that a no-deal Brexit can be averted.

“It would be the worst outcome for us and for everyone and we must do everything possible to avoid it,” Morris said. “But unless there is an agreement or an alternative, that would be the result. “A no-deal Brexit would happen on October 31. “There is time to avoid it and the government is working on it. “The important thing is to exit (the EU) in the right way.

“Obviously, the situation is highly fluid and we must wait for the results of the European elections”. Morris said Brexit should not end ties between the UK and its European partners. “We want to maintain a deep, special relationship that would enable us to work as an ally close to the Union to continue to defend European values,” she said.

UK: ‘The Worst Prime Minister Ever’ — Reactions to Theresa May’s Resignation Roll in

Theresa May had clung on after surviving the loss of her parliamentary majority in the 2017 snap election, three historic parliamentary defeats for her proposed withdrawal treaty with the EU, a no confidence vote in which over half of her backbenchers called on her to go, calls to step down by the leadership of the party’s grassroots activists, devastating losses in English local elections, and dire polling for the European Parliament elections.

But, with an attempt to put her withdrawal treaty to the House of Commons for a fourth time, sweetened with an offer to let MPs vote on holding a second referendum, holed below the waterline before it could even be table, she has at last accepted the inevitable in an emotional speech, highlighting such “achievements” as her race disparity audit and gender pay reporting.

Reactions are mixed, with right-leaning Sun newspaper offered a pitying yet damning verdict in its leader article on her premiership, with digital political editor Hugo Gye observing that “she suffered the worst election campaign and the worst Commons revolt in history… she’s likely to be remembered as possibly the worst Prime Minister in decades or even of all time.”

India Answers Pakistan’s Missile Test With Daring Raid on “Most Wanted Militant” In Kashmir

After a couple months of uneasy calm following the late February crisis over Kashmir involving two downed Indian jets which allegedly entered Pakistani-administered territory to raid a “terror compound” it appears the long disputed border region is heating up again. And this a day after Pakistan on Thursday decided to use the moment of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s landslide victory to a second 5-year term in the world’s largest general election to test fire a ballistic missile with a reported 1,500 kilometer range.

It appears India has hit back in its own symbolic way, signalling it will stick by its pledge to root out jihadist militants in Kashmir, which New Delhi has long charged Pakistan with harboring and supporting. Early Friday India announced its forces raided the home of a top al-Qaeda commander in southern Kashmir the night before, sparking widespread anti-India protests in the Muslim-majority region.

Twenty-five year old terrorist Zakir Rashid Bhat (also known as Zakir Musa), described as India’s “most wanted militant,” was reportedly trapped when Indian commandos set fire to his three-story house, leading police shooting and killing him during a counterinsurgency operation in the southern Tral area. “As we were clearing debris from the house, he tried to get up. Our troops fired at him and he was killed,” one police official told Reuters.

UN Demands UK Surrender Indian Ocean Islands, No EU State Except Hungary Supports Brits

The United Nations General Assembly has passed a resolution demanding the United Kingdom surrender the islands of the British Indian Ocean Territory in six months — receiving no support from any EU member-state except Viktor Orban’s Hungary.

Supporters of Britain’s membership of the European Union, such as deputy prime minister turned Facebook executive Nick Clegg, often argue that the cost in sovereignty is made up by the gain in “clout” on the world stage, with back-up from the bloc’s other 27 member-states allowing the British government to wield more international influence.

However, when the UN General Assembly, which includes representatives from Communist Party regimes, oppressive theocracies, and other near-dictatorships, tabled a motion condemning the United Kingdom’s continued possession of the Chagos archipelago in the Indian Ocean, this “clout” was nowhere to be seen, with Viktor Orban’s conservative-populist government the only one in the EU — with which it is frequently at odds — to take the British side, according to the BBC.

“Retaliation is Imminent”: Here Are China’s “Nuclear” Trade War Options

While Beijing has yet to announce specific countermeasures beyond raising tariffs on $60BN of US imports, the increasingly angry rhetoric hints hinted that some non-tariff retaliation could be imposed, which according to Barclays includes the following:

Export restrictions: Limiting exports to the US of some critical resources such as rare earths. President Xi’s visit to one of China’s major rare earth mining and processing facilities adds to the possibility of banning rare earth exports, as China did to Japan in 2010.

Restrictions on sales of US goods and services: Restricting sales of certain US products and services in China, based on national security concerns or for regulatory or legal violations etc. The restrictions could apply to US smartphones, servers, autos, pharmaceuticals, or distribution of Hollywood movies and series, as long as the action would not incur significant domestic economic and employment costs. For example, the recent legal case filed by Chinese airlines with Boeing could be viewed as a move in this direction.

Financial tools such as devaluing CNY and selling off US treasuries. We think in the event of further escalation of the tariff war, China would allow measured weakness in CNY, although we think the Chinese authorities would be unlikely to tolerate a very sharp and sudden depreciation. It is interesting to note that while Reuters reported that “China’s central bank will not let yuan decline past 7 to the dollar” on 17 May, the time horizon initially reported was “in the immediate term,” which was revised in a later version to “in the near term.”

Other non-tariff restrictions targeting US companies trading with or operating in China. The Xinhua commentary (“Triumph will be in China’s hands,” Xinhua, 21 May) said “China has demonstrated full readiness to fight back,” highlighting “there are many possible options given the inter-dependency of the two economies” and that “China is not bluffing.”

8Chan Founder Speaks Out After Photos Appear to Show Vice News Reporters Breaking Into His Home

Jim Watkins, the owner of the controversial free speech site 8chan, has released a video on YouTube accusing liberal journalists from VICE News of illegally entering his home in the Philippines.

He talked of Nazi Germany and the U.S. treatment of Japanese-Americans during World War II in the video as examples similar to the crime committed by these so-called journalists, who he called the equivalent of brownshirts, at his domicile.

“The atrocities of the past could very well happen again if we, as decent law-abiding folks, allow this sort of action to be tolerated,” he said.

Watkins claims that VICE News reporter Elle Reeve and her producer Lani Levine broke into his home with an unnamed cameraman, and then barged into his bedroom hoping to get a scoop exposing the man who is being blamed for facilitating terrorism after two spree shooters recently posted their manifestos on his platform.

They were caught by a camera apparently committing the breaking and entering in this picture:…

Huawei’s an Asset All Right — But it’s Not Our Asset

Let me stipulate that I am a longtime admirer of George Gilder and his passion for free markets. My respect for Gilder goes way back to 1981, when he published his best-selling book on the benefits of capitalism, Wealth and Poverty. For decades, he has been an ardent and eloquent advocate of capitalism, an oracle of the innovation and prosperity that free markets can engender, and I owe him no small personal debt for his advice half a lifetime ago that the way to make a living as a writer is to just start writing. Gilder’s voice is needed now, more than ever, to counter the siren call of socialism.

And some of what Gilder says about Huawei makes sense. He’s correct, that the U.S. should not underestimate the talents of Huawei’s “founder-philosopher,” Ren Zhengfei. In his WSJ op-ed, Gilder highlights Ren’s amazing feat over three decades in which “he turned the equivalent of $3,000 into China’s telecom-equipment champion and a multinational colossus”—operating in 170 countries, with 180,000 employees and $105 billion in annual revenue. Gilder praises Ren as “a vocal admirer of American openness” and “supply-side admirer of President Trump’s tax cuts.” He lauds Huawei as a big customer of American technology companies and notes that its finance division “is staffed by hundreds of graduates of Harvard, Cambridge, Wharton and Yale.”

Huawei is not a victory for the American-led system. Huawei is a product of 21st-century China’s system

But beware Gilder’s conclusion, that “The U.S. should embrace Huawei as a triumph of the American-led system rather than push it into the arms of Chinese hard-liners who revel in autarkic dreams.”

Nope, sorry—Huawei is not a victory for the American-led system. Huawei is a product of 21st-century China’s system, making expert use of the openness and innovations of America, but subordinated—like everything and everyone else in China—to the priorities, demands and aspirations of China’s ruling Communist Party. And China’s rulers do not confine themselves these days to reveling in provincial dreams of autarky. They aspire to global dominance. Beijing is already translating this dream into enormous cyber warfare capabilities, a rapidly expanding blue water Navy, military bases atop artificial islands straddling vital shipping lanes in the South China Sea, and debt-trap financing for countries such as Sri Lanka, thus acquiring footholds for potential military bases under the label of fostering trade through China’s “Belt and Road Initiative.”

Put another way, Huawei embodies the twinned triumph and tragedy of today’s China, where even the most dazzling enterprise remains yoked to a ruthless and expansionist despotism. Vice President Mike Pence explained this brand of warped development in a speech last October at Washington’s Hudson Institute:

Microsoft Cuts Ties With Huawei

Microsoft will reportedly become the latest tech giant to ‘suspend’ its relationship with Huawei, according to the South China Morning Post.

One week after Washington first imposed strict limits on Huawei and its affiliates that will make it almost impossible for American firms buy Huawei products or sell American-made components to the company, a handful of chipmakers, telecoms companies and tech firms (Alphabet) have reportedly scaled back or severed their relationship with Huawei.

Though Microsoft said yesterday that it hadn’t made a decision, the SCMP reported Friday morning that Microsoft had decided to stop accepting new orders from Huawei for operating systems and other content-related services: Windows operating systems for laptops and other content-related services. The US software giant has already removed Huawei laptops from its online stores.

Italy: Immigration Should be EU’s Top Priority — Moavero

European elections could create a sort of constituent assembly says foreign minister

(ANSA) — Rome, May 23 — Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi told a ANSA Forum on Thursday that this week’s European elections could create a sort of constituent assembly for a new EU in which immigration should be the top priority.

“I think it is absolutely necessary to take part in this vote because a new constituent period for the Europe of the future could depend on it,” he said. “In my opinion, Europe must address five priorities after the election.

“Inevitably the first must regard immigration, because the flows of migrants are historic and I say that as an Italian, a European and a citizen of the world. “This must be addressed with solidarity and shared responsibility by the EU, for the EU, with the EU. “This means investing more in the countries of origin.

“But naturally it is necessary to allocate funds, which at the moment are totally insufficient”.

Mexican Teen Confesses to Killing Elderly Texas Woman in Her Own Home — Police

Grandmother called gentle, Christian woman who was pillar of community

A 19-year-old Mexican citizen has been charged with capital murder in the death of an elderly Houston woman, police say.

Marco Cobos reportedly confessed to stabbing Etta Nugent, 75, in her own home after soliciting her for mechanical assistance for a stolen truck in which he had been sleeping in nearby.

“Cobos told police he was having issues with his vehicle and asked the woman to help him,” ABC 13 reports. “Police said that Cobos then forced his way into Nugent’s home sometime Sunday night and stabbed her several times when she told him she couldn’t help.”

Police believe Cobos spent hours in Mrs. Nugent’s home, using her credit card to pay his cell phone bill and driving her Honda Accord to nearby stores to purchase a new car battery and food, which he consumed back at her house.

Why is Islam Growing in the US?

The Muslim population is growing, and in the next two decades Muslims could become the second-largest religious group in the United States, according to a Pew Research study.

Well, there are a variety of reasons. For the most part, many Americans do not understand why after the 9/11 attacks, when close to 3,000 Americans died, the percentage of Muslims and their house of prayer, better known as mosques, rapidly increased. There is no question that our own government is the culprit. Ninety-nine percent Muslim, 43,000 Somali refugees were settled in the US under Obama.

Bush told Muslims they belong in America. “America counts millions of Muslims amongst our citizens, and Muslims make an incredibly valuable contribution to our country. Muslims are doctors, lawyers, law professors, members of the military, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, moms and dads. And they need to be treated with respect. In our anger and emotion, our fellow Americans must treat each other with respect.”

The American people are confused and frustrated. They don’t understand why more Muslims migrate to the United States and why Muslims refuse to assimilate. Why they are creating their own enclaves as they have done in Europe? Here, as in Europe, they have captured town after town, while our own elected officials look the other way in the name of political correctness and the fear of the racist label personally attached to them.

This website—and, until recently, CrossFit’s Facebook and Instagram accounts—has long catalogued CrossFit’s tireless defense of its community against overreaching governments, malicious competitors, and corrupt academic organizations.

Muslim Professor says : Rape is allowed only to non-believers

    https://youtu.be/bFDxDXosHhI

Professor Saud Saleh – from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt – reportedly said rape is allowed between times of “legitimate war” between Muslims and their enemies. In a television interview Saleh appears to try to discourage the purchase of slaves from Asian countries for sex, claiming Allah has given Muslim men a “legitimate” way to have sexual relations with slave women.

The controversial professor allegedly said slavery existed before Islam and anyone could trade “freeborn men and women” but that Islam put slavery “into order” by regulating when it was allowed. It is believed she claimed the only “legitimately owned slaves come from among prisoners from a war”. Saleh allegedly said: “The female prisoners of wars are ‘those whom you own’. “In order to humiliate them, they become the property of the army commander, or of a Muslim, and he can have sex with them just like he has sex with his wives.”

Muslim professor: allowed to rape non-Muslims to humiliate them

An acclaimed statement comes from Said Saleh, professor at the prestigious Egyptian University of Al-Azhar, in Cairo. Saleh, who is herself a woman, seems to have little sympathy for the victims of rape, and instead claims that rape is allowed during the war between Muslims and their enemies.

The statement was made during an episode on slavery and trafficking, televised by the Middle East Media Research Institute. According to the professor, slavery has existed at all times, but thanks to Islam, there is today a more correct regulatory framework.

Saleh claims, among other things, that prisoners of war are legitimate slaves. From this she derives that female prisoners of war are legitimate sex slaves. The professor also specifies that the purpose is to humiliate the victims.

“To humiliate them, they become army bosses, or a Muslim, property and he can have sex with them, just as he can have sex with his wives,” said Said Saleh.

On the other hand, she turns to Muslim men who, often with their wives’ approval, buy East Asian women as sex slaves, since only non-Muslim prisoners of war are allowed to enslave. Trafficking, she says, goes against Allah’s laws.

Just prostitution does not take Professor Said Saleh up in the interview, but instead focuses on clarifying under what conditions rape of non-Muslim women is allowed.

    • Wow, what a bunch of nonsense!

And Christianity ended slavery alltogether, it sad that that’s not obvious to the haters.
