Gates of Vienna News Feed 5/22/2019

British Prime Minister Theresa May has become increasingly isolated as more and more cabinet members resign, the latest being Andrea Leadsom, the Tory leader in the House of Commons. Mrs. May still refuses to consider stepping down, despite a revolt among pro-Brexit members of her own party. The last straw was apparently her call for a second Brexit referendum.

In other news, according to the latest projections, four of the five largest parties after the European parliamentary elections will be “populist” parties, with the Brexit Party being the largest of all.

American Feel Good About Economy and Give Trump Credit: Poll

Most Americans remain confident about the U.S. economy and in their own financial situation, and more now give President Trump’s policies credit for a strong economy than did so last year.

Seven in 10 Americans say the economy is in good shape, including a quarter who say it is very good. Nearly all Republicans and most Democrats and independents share this view.

Sixty-four percent (64%) of voters believe the FBI knew a controversial dossier was unreliable when they used it to obtain a search warrant against President Trump’s 2016 campaign. A ScottRasmussen.com national survey found that skepticism is shared by 86% of Republicans, 64% of Independents, and 47% of Democrats (see crosstab results).

Don’t Trust the Messenger: The Rise and Fall of Old Media

Summary: Conservatives and right-leaning moderates know that in order to get the “full story” they should read not only the Wall Street Journal and National Review, but also the Washington Post and The Atlantic. After all, it’s important to know how the other half of America thinks and feels about the news of the day. However, the media landscape isn’t what it used to be—where once there were nominally nonpartisan broadcast and print media, new nonprofit newsrooms backed by big liberal foundation resources have risen, even as conservative platforms have folded. But that doesn’t mean conservative readers and writers should resign themselves to obsolescence: a combination of foundation giving and visionary leadership could breathe new life into conservative and even less-partisan journalism, while providing the stability and flexibility necessary for new outlets to thrive.

Experts Worry Fatal Brain Disease Could Threaten Minnesota’s $1B Deer-Hunting Industry

This is a crisis Wisconsin knows well. What started as a fairly localized outbreak near Madison 16 years ago has spread across the lower third of the state. In certain areas, half the deer have CWD…

In non-scientific terms, the animal’s brain becomes like Swiss cheese. Within just a few years, a once healthy deer becomes skinny and confused, wandering around with strings of infectious drool running from its mouth.

Infected deer will likely die within two years. They are highly contagious while still alive, and research shows infected carcasses and gut piles left behind by hunters can leave infectious traces on plants which can contaminate other deer years later.

Florida Man Bathes in Wendy’s Kitchen Sink, Company Investigates

A woman posted a video on Facebook of what appears to be a Wendy’s employee taking a bath in the sink. The young man is shirtless and barefoot in the kitchen before climbing into the sink full of soapy suds.

“Go, go go go, oh s**** a person says in the background, encouraging the behavior, “take a bath, take a bath. Get in there.”

The person who posted the video says it happened at the Wendy’s in Milton.

Florida Man Says Passenger Performed Sex Acts While He Drove

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — A Florida woman who was riding shotgun in a pickup truck before a traffic stop was doing more than just drinking beer and smoking crack cocaine, deputies said.

Rhonda Koppenhoefer, 55, of Fort Pierce, was also performing sex acts during the ride, the driver told deputies.

St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a May 14 traffic stop on a Ford F150 that ran a red light at Orange Avenue and South 25th Street.

When deputies approached the truck, they found a half-full bottle of Bud Light between Koppenhoefer’s legs, a crack pipe on the floorboard by her feet and three crack rocks on the ground nearby, according to an arrest affidavit.

Hysteria: Chicago High School Spends Over $50,000 Replacing Year Book Because Some Students Did the ‘OK’ Hand Sign

A school in Chicago is set to spend over $50,000 dollars replacing a year book because some students displayed the ‘OK’ hand sign.

Yes, really.

“Administrators at the Oak Park and River Forest High School announced it will spend a total of $53,794 to replace the 1,750 copies of “Tabula” after staff found 18 photos of students making an upside down OK hand sign,” reports Newsweek.

Despite officials noting that “various races, ethnicities, genders, and grades” were pictured making the sign and the obvious fact that they were playing the circle game, the gesture was treated “as a symbol of white supremacy” and the year book must be replaced to avoid “potentially subjecting our students to this trauma”.

No Wonder Obama Intel Chiefs Panicking — Trump to Declassify “Bucket 5” Russiagate Docs

As Congressional Democrats insist on conducting post-Mueller probes into President Trump and those around him, much of the recent infighting and backpedaling we’ve seen from former Obama intel chiefs is starting to make sense.

Appearing with Fox News‘s Sean Hannity Tuesday night, The Hill‘s John Solomon revealed that according to his sources (and Hannity’s as well), President Trump will begin declassifying ‘Russiagate’ documents in the next 6-7 days.

Among those will be the so-called “Bucket Five” — documents which were originally presented to the Gang of Eight in 2016, which included everything the FBI and DOJ used against Trump campaign aide Carter Page — including the FISA surveillance application and its underlying exculpatory intelligence documents which the FISA court may have never seen.

Phyllis Schlafly’s Handpicked Successor Calls for Official RNC Censure of Justin Amash

Dear Chairman McDaniel,

As a former Missouri Republican Party chairman, I know very well the power of the party’s collective voice. We establish principles to guide our voice every four years at the Republican National Convention. President Reagan taught us to aspire to “a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people.” In 2016, I believe we adopted just such a banner in the Republican Party Platform. I was there when then-candidate Trump promised the late Phyllis Schlafly to uphold the platform. Any reasonable Republican would conclude that our president has kept his word.

Yet, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan has chosen to undermine President Trump with his ludicrous comments. Using the megaphone of social media, Amash spread the Democrat lie that “President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct.” He went on to attack the honor of his Republican colleagues in Congress by saying “Few members of Congress even read Mueller’s report,” and insinuated conservatives defend our president blindly.

In reality, Rep. Amash’s statements spring from a deep rejection of the conservative principles President Trump staunchly defends. Something has to be done. We are the party Amash claims to stand with. It is our responsibility to let America know we wholeheartedly oppose his radical views. We must stand with our president and send a message even the thick-headed Rep. Amash can’t ignore.

It is for these reasons I respectfully request Rep. Justin Amash be officially censured by the RNC.

All the best.

Ed Martin

The Battle for America’s Unconscious Mind: Framing the Debate

The Pentagon Finally Admits it Investigates UFOs

The Pentagon has finally uttered the words it always avoided when discussing the possible existence of UFOs — “unidentified aerial phenomena” — and admits that it still investigates reports of them.

And while the DOD says it shut down the AATIP in 2012, spokesman Christopher Sherwood acknowledged that the department still investigates claimed sightings of alien spacecraft.

Why Many of Today’s News Reporters Believe it’s Their Duty to Lie to You

[…]

Far from making the U.S. political news industry better, accountability journalism totally ruined it. It created an atmosphere in which being neutral and objective in reporting on political issues is seen as counterproductive and outdated. Meanwhile, all the hip and sophisticated people who are going places and changing the world were the ones who were shaping the news to fit the “right” narratives that people “needed” to hear.

What many in the mainstream news media loved the most about accountability journalism is that it allowed them to openly be what they always were: political activists disguised as reporters, chafing under the repressive strictures of the old model of neutrality and objectivity.

The good news is that the DNC media complex has almost completely rotted itself to the point of total ruin at this point, and the collapse of the industry has already begun.

Trump predicts many of these news outlets will be gone in six years.

I think he’s right.

Architects of Woke, #2: Slavoj Žižek & the Romance of Revolutionary Terror

[…]

The second episode, “Slavoj Žižek & the Romance of Revolutionary Terror” covers the influence of the famed Slovenian communist philosopher Slavoj Žižek. Having starred in three feature-length documentary films, debated academic superstar Jordan Peterson, and holding one of the largest fan bases of any academic in the world, Žižek is perhaps the most influential Marxist alive. But despite Žižek’s fun pop-culture references and friendly debate with Professor Peterson, his ideas are far from benign. A supporter of revolutionary violence, Žižek speaks approvingly of deadly revolutionaries Vladimir Lenin and Maximillien Robespierre. In Žižek’s view, a free capitalist society is inherently oppressive, and violence is needed to overthrow it. The video concludes, based on Žižek’s own words, that Žižek’s utopia is to squash you in order to gratify his narcissism.

To learn more about Žižek and his critics, we recommend the following:…

European Elections Kick Off in Netherlands, UK Tomorrow

This week residents of the European Union will vote for the European Parliament. The elections are held over several days throughout the EU, starting in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom on Thursday.

The fact that the elections aren’t all held on the same day, has to do with the different rules around elections in the various EU Member States, according to NU.nl. In the Netherlands, for example, elections are never held on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays — to take account of the holy days of the various religions represented in the country. Other EU countries hold elections on Sunday because that is the day most people have off work. The Czech Republic sets aside two days for voting.

Far-Right Propaganda Floods Facebook Ahead of EU Elections

[…]

These are just a few examples of the ugly far-right propaganda and disinformation that has flooded Facebook ahead of parliamentary elections in the European Union this week. According to a new report by online activist group Avaaz, networks of fake accounts, pages, and groups have been spreading divisive, white-nationalist, anti-immigrant content throughout Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Poland, and Spain. In some cases, they posed as politicians themselves. In others, they created fan pages for political parties or alternative media organizations. Together, they amassed followings several times larger than the actual far-right groups operating within these countries.

As part of its investigation, Avaaz’s global network of volunteers reported more than 500 “suspicious” pages and groups to Facebook. The company has since taken action against 77 of them, the report states, and has removed more than 200 accounts. Avaaz says those pages had nearly 6 million followers among them, three times as many followers as the actual far-right groups in those countries combined. The content they spread was viewed 533 million times over the past three months, according to the report. Just who exactly is behind these operations remains a mystery.

[Avaaz, a “progressive” organisation has written a report on “far-right” deception. It has no interest in leftist deception.

Google Electioneering: YouTube is Now Labeling Benign Tommy Robinson Campaign Videos as “Inappropriate or Offensive”

The tech giants are no longer trying to hide how they tip the scales in political races.

In November 2018 The Guardian reported on group of Google employees who published an open letter calling on their employer to cancel its plans to build a censored search engine for China.

The Google employees were very upset that Google’s Project Dragonfly would allow the Chinese government to blacklist certain search terms. The employees said, “Many of us accepted employment at Google with the company’s values in mind… After a year of disappointments … we no longer believe this is the case.”

Just months later it is now obvious that Google, Facebook and Twitter are all using their own blacklists to censor and shadow-ban prominent conservatives, their supporters and anyone Google deems “inappropriate or offensive.”

UK Orthodox Jews Mobilize for Tommy Robinson

Members of hasidic and Sefardic communities urge community to ‘do right thing for ourselves — and for country to which we owe so much.’

A group of British Orthodox Jews including members of the Sefardic and hassidic communities has mobilized in a mass outreach campaign to support independent EU Parliament candidate Tommy Robinson.

Thousands of flyers were distributed throughout Manchester today calling on “our fellow Orthodox Jews” to vote for Robinson in the May 23 elections, calling Robinson “a staunch friend of our people”.

“Please open your hearts and consider giving your vote to Tommy Robinson in Thursday’s European elections,” the flyer read. “Tommy is an independent, fearless fighter for a sane, decent, honest, traditional-values society, and justice for victims of terrible crimes, callously ignored through ‘political correctness’.”

A recent canvass by independent journalists revealed that many UK voters are afraid of losing their jobs if it were made public that they support Robinson.

“We all know that in the last few years England has become unrecognisable from the decent country we grew up in,” the flyer continued. “Who among us has not reacted in horror as each month brings new levels of moral decline and self-destruction in the name of ‘diversity’ and ‘human rights’?

“For how long will we wring our hands helplessly, our activists trying to do their best, while the country carries on this awful march to the worst places, led by foolish, corrupt, ‘educated’ leaders?” wondered the authors.

UK: ‘Betrayal of 17.4m People’: Brexiteer MPs Pan Deal, Demand May’s Ousting

Brexiteer Tories have come out against Theresa May’s plan to allow MPs to vote on a second referendum if they pass her EU-approved treaty, with some lawmakers calling for the prime minister to be ousted.

The Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) is set to be voted on for a fourth time next month, and what was touted as a “bold offer” of concessions to win over Tory Remainers and the Opposition was branded as “dead on arrival” by Mark Francois, vice-chairman of the pro-Brexit European Research Group (ERG).

UK: Cable Collapse Continues as May’s ‘New Deal’ Flops, Farage Soars

Cable has plunged almost 2 full handles from the post-May-’New Deal’ hope of yesterday afternoon as it’s increasingly clear her latest and last gambit is dead on arrival…

Bloomberg reports that Theresa May is facing pressure to abandon her Brexit deal and quit as British prime minister within days, according to people familiar with the matter. Several senior government officials said they were shocked that the premier’s new offer intended to win votes in Parliament for her European Union divorce agreement had been so badly received so quickly.

Which just goes to show how disconnected from reality they are. FX traders, however, were not surprised…

UK: Latest YouGov European Parliament Voting Intention Figures

The final YouGov/Times European Parliament voting intention survey before the election finds the Brexit Party continuing to dominate with 37% of the vote, having been on 35% in last week’s survey.

The Lib Dems tighten their grip on second place, holding a six-point lead over third-placed Labour. Close to one in five people now say they intend to vote for the Lib Dems (19%, from 16% last week) compared to 13% for Labour (from 15%). In fact the Green party is now snapping at Labour’s heels for third place, being only one point behind on 12% (having been on 10% last week).

The Conservatives now sit in a distant fifth place, with just 7% of people planning to back the Tories (from 10% last week). Change UK are now on 4% (from 5%), votes for UKIP stand at 3% (unchanged), and voting intention for all other parties stands at 6%.

UK: May’s Cabinet Ministers Line Up to Face the PM in Private Meetings as MPs Demand She Quit Today Amid Fury at Disastrous Brexit Bill Second Referendum Promise

Theresa May is facing the threat of an all-out Tory mutiny tonight as ministers desert her and senior MPs warn she ‘needs to go’.

Cabinet is mobilising to stop the PM pressing ahead with her Brexit Bill after she sparked a furious backlash by offering to hold a vote on a second referendum.

The so-called ‘Pizza Club’ of Eurosceptic ministers — including Michael Gove and Andrea Leadsom — met this morning at short notice to discuss the situation.

A senior source said there was a growing consensus that the Bill should not be brought to the Commons. ‘The mood music in Cabinet is heading towards stopping it coming back,’ they told MailOnline.

Scottish Secretary David Mundell has asked for a meeting with the PM to protest that her promise of a vote on a second referendum is a gift to the SNP, which is pushing for another independence ballot north of the border. More junior ministers are also making clear they will not support the legislation if it does come to Parliament.

In another mortal threat to Mrs May, the powerful Tory 1922 committee is meeting tonight to consider changing party rules to allow an immediate confidence vote in her leadership.

Andrea Leadsom, the Tory leader in the Commons and considered a critical member of May’s cabinet, has resigned, and it looks like May’s decision to add a clause calling for a second referendum was the straw that finally broke her.

Levin: ‘What in the Hell’ Is Dianne Feinstein ‘Doing Talking on an iPhone’ To the Iranian Foreign Minister?

Thursday on the radio, LevinTV host Mark Levin called out the hypocrisy of the Democrats after Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., was caught on the phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif earlier Thursday, and the media said nothing.

“He’s the foreign minister to an enemy state that seeks to attack American military personnel in the Middle East, that seeks to put nuclear warheads on ICBMs so they can reach the United States. It is a terrorist regime, an Islamo-Nazi regime in Tehran, that has killed Americans, that funds Hezbollah to kill Americans, that funds Hamas to kill, and is a threat to our national security, obviously,” Levin said. “What in the hell is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee doing talking on an iPhone around the Capitol to Javad Zarif?”

“What is it with these Democrats fronting for this Islamo-Nazi regime that wants to kill Americans and Jews in Israel? You’ve got Frankenfeinstein, you’ve got … John Kerry — or the real Frankenstein — giving aid and comfort to the enemy! It’s not enough that they released $150 billion to this regime; now they’re giving it advice, against the president of the United States. You want to talk about the Logan Act? You want to talk about collusion?”

‘Fool of Low IQ’: North Korea Slams ‘Imbecile’ Joe Biden

Sean Spicer: Huawei, The Threat That is Hiding in Plain Sight

Over the last year, President Trump and others have warned of the threat Huawei poses.

Huawei is the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer and world’s largest supplier of network equipment for Internet and mobile phone companies.

Serving numerous wireless and internet providers around the world, including smaller companies that serve rural areas in the U.S., Huawei is now a leading contender to roll out the next generation of wireless technology, 5G.

Super-high speed 5G networks will be the infrastructure through which all data and information flows, connecting people, machines, power grids, and yet-to-be developed technologies such as self-driving vehicles.

Whoever controls this infrastructure controls everything.

That’s why the government of China has made 5G wireless networks a national strategic priority. Beijing has invested more than $400 billion in the development of 5G, providing subsidies that allow Huawei to underbid competitors and lock up contracts to build 5G networks around the world.

FBI Director Christopher Wray has said whoever controls 5G has the ability to control our telecommunications infrastructure, “to maliciously modify or steal information [and] conduct undetected espionage.”

This makes Huawei 5G acutely dangerous.

For you see, while Huawei claims to be just another independent telecom company, that’s just not the case.

Vodafone Found Hidden Backdoors in Huawei Equipment

Vodafone asked Huawei to remove backdoors in home internet routers in 2011 and received assurances from the supplier that the issues were fixed, but further testing revealed that the security vulnerabilities remained, the documents show. Vodafone also identified backdoors in parts of its fixed-access network known as optical service nodes, which are responsible for transporting internet traffic over optical fibers, and other parts called broadband network gateways, which handle subscriber authentication and access to the internet, the people said. The people asked not to be identified because the matter was confidential.

A backdoor, in cybersecurity terms, is a method of bypassing security controls to access a computer system or encrypted data. While backdoors can be common in some network equipment and software because developers create them to manage the gear, they can be exploited by attackers. In Vodafone’s case, the risks included possible third-party access to a customer’s personal computer and home network, according to the internal documents.

Floods and Drought Devastate Crops All Over the Planet — Could a Global Food Crisis be Coming?

It looks like global food production could be well below expectations in 2019, and that could spell big trouble in the months ahead. In recent weeks, I have written extensively about the problems that we have been experiencing here in the United States. As many as a million calves were lost to the flooding that hit the state of Nebraska in March, farmers have planted less than half of the corn that is normally in the ground by this time of the year, and a lot of the crops that have been planted in the middle of the country are really struggling due to extremely wet soil. But it isn’t just the United States that is facing a very troubling year. Earlier today, one of my readers sent me an article entitled “Global food crisis ahead as extreme weather events devastate crops and fields around the world” which I would encourage everyone to read. In that article, we are told that after the worst drought in 116 years Australia has actually been forced to import wheat. And according to the Guardian, this is the first time in 12 years that this has happened…

Dutch Asylum Minister Resigns After Hiding Number of ‘Refugees’ Suspected of Serious Crimes

Worried it would lead to “confusion”

The Netherlands’ asylum minister Mark Harbers was forced to resign after he hid the number of ‘refugees’ suspected of serious crimes from a crime report.

Harbers failed to include a category called ‘other’ in the report on crimes committed by asylum seekers, which included 79 sexual offenses, 51 aggravated assaults, and 31 suspicions of murder and manslaughter.

Harbers’ excuse for not reporting the figures was that it would lead to “confusion”.

“Last week’s report showed ‘fake’ asylum seekers who come from so-called safe countries, namely Morocco and Algeria, were responsible for almost half the 4,600 incidents requiring police intervention,” according to DutchNews.nl.

Other European countries have massaged stats on migrant crime or refused to release details altogether.

In 2016, Swedish police were ordered to stop reporting the ethnicity of suspects over fears of being branded “racist”.

The following year, Sweden’s “most experienced police investigator,” Peter Springare went public with claims that migrants were responsible for most of the crime in Sweden.

ICE Sweep Nets 58 Illegal-Alien Criminals; Salvadoran, Filipino Thugs Deported

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement staged a four-day surge through multiple cities last week and collared more than four dozen illegal-alien criminals.

May 13 through May 16, agents from field offices in Newark, Baltimore, and New Orleans arrested 58 illegal-alien thugs facing charges or convicted of myriad violent crimes or drunk driving.

Many were previously deported, of course. ICE arrested 33 across the south, 13 in New Jersey, and 12 in Maryland.

Agents from the Crescent City’s field office posted the biggest haul; 22 of the 33 illegals are either convicts or face criminal charges, while 23, ICE reported, were previously deported or ordered removed.

Agents collared 12 in Alabama, nine in New Orleans, eight in Arkansas, and four in Tennessee.

Illegal Alien Convicted of Raping Dog to Death Released by Sanctuary State

An illegal alien convicted of raping a dog to death was released by the sanctuary state of Oregon after being sentenced to just 60 days in prison.

As Breitbart News reported, illegal alien Fidel Lopez, 52-years-old, was convicted last month and sentenced to 60 days in prison after raping his girlfriend’s small Lhasa Apso which led to the dog’s death. The judge in the case said he would have given the illegal alien more prison time but that 60 days is the maximum sentence allowed in Oregon.

Following his sentence, Lopez was immediately released because he had already served 60 days while waiting to stand trial. Despite his illegal alien status, Multnomah County, Oregon officials released Lopez back into the community.

Illegal Alien From Kenya Charged With Killing 12 Elderly Women— CNN Still Ignoring Story

An illegal alien from Kenya has been charged in the deaths of 12 elderly women in Texas, and at least one major media outlet has so far ignored what could be one of the most prolific serial slayings in American history.

Billy Chemirmir, a 46-year-old former healthcare worker, had already been charged with capital murder in March 2018 in the death of Lu Thi Harris, 81, but was indicted on Tuesday for 11 additional deaths: five in Collin County and six more in Dallas County.

Court records show that Chemirmir, a citizen of Kenya living illegally in the United States, allegedly smothered his victims with a pillow and then robbed them, according to The Dallas Morning News.

After Chemirmir’s initial arrest, authorities told reporters their plans to review around 750 cases of unattended deaths of elderly women for links to Chemirmir, some of which had already been ruled as natural causes.

Immigration Expert Calls Out Dem Candidates for Policy That Promotes Dangerous Trek to the U.S. [Video]

Former ICE Director Thomas Homan is so sharp on immigration and will call out anyone who wants open borders.

Homan says that anyone for open borders and no detention only incentivizes illegal immigration.

Listen to this brilliant assessment of what’s going on at our borders:

“When politicians like her say things like we don’t want to detain anybody. She wants to support sanctuary cities. She wants to abolish ICE. When you have the open border attitude, more people are enticed to come into this country illegally. They’re more enticed to put themselves in the hands of criminal organizations to come to this country. That’s why they’re coming.”

“Homan continued: 93% of every person that ICE removed last year was removed from a detention bed. When you get released, chances are you will never be removed. Last year, 47,000 people got ordered to remove an abstention, which means they didn’t show up for court. Right now we are on the path to having over 70,000 in abstention this year. If you look at the people on the border claiming asylum, 49%, almost half, never follow-up with the immigration court.”

MS-13 Illegal Aliens Charged With Murdering Teen Girl After Being Released by Sanctuary City

Two illegal alien members of the violent MS-13 gang have been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Maryland after previously being released from custody by a sanctuary city.

Last week, illegal alien MS-13 gang members Josue Rafael Fuentes-Ponce, 16-years-old, and Joel Ernesto Escobar, 17-years-old, were charged with first-degree murder — along with 14-year-old Cynthia Hernandez-Nucamendi — in the death of 14-year-old Ariana Funes-Diaz in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

According to police, the two illegal alien MS-13 gang members and Hernandez-Nucamendi met the 14-year-old victim at an apartment complex before taking her into a wooded area nearby. In the wooded area, police say the three beat the girl with a baseball bat and stabbed her to death with a machete.

Now, the pair of illegal alien MS-13 gang members and Hernandez-Nucamendi have been charged with murdering Funes-Diaz.

Last year, Fuentes-Ponce and Escobar were released from custody by Prince George’s County officials after being charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, participation in gang activity, conspiracy to commit murder, and attempted robbery.

At the time, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency had requested that the two illegal alien gang members not be released back into the community and instead be turned over to their custody for deportation.

Prince George’s County, a sanctuary city, released the illegal aliens anyway, and they were never able to be arrested or deported by ICE.

How Media Propagandists Create ‘Symbolic’ Meaning

In the information age, propaganda has become one of the most powerful forces in the world. And political factions, legacy news outlets, and special interest groups looking to manipulate societies to their wills use propaganda’s various tactics to advance their goals.

Yet, if we can manage to understand the inner workings of these propaganda tactics, their effects can be blunted. Like watching a magician at work, the tricks lose their charm when we can recognize the sleight of hand.

Among the most common methods used by legacy news outlets and political factions to manipulate public opinion is to deceive people into interpreting their adversaries as “symbols” of intended emotions and concepts.

Texas County Defies Demands to Remove Crosses From Courthouse

The latest efforts of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) to force its godless ideology on others has suffered a head-on collision with a Texas county determined to maintain its autonomy concerning religious expression. Recently the FFRF, which touts itself as the “nation’s largest association of freethinkers (atheists, agnostics),” sent a letter of warning to a judge in San Jacinto County, Texas, advising him that four crosses adorning the county courthouse in Coldspring, Texas were a violation of the First Amendment’s “Establishment” clause, which supposedly disallows any symbols of faith on government property.

In the letter to County Judge Fritz Faulkner, an FFRF attorney claimed that a local resident had complained about the crosses and wanted them removed. “The County’s permanent display of four large Latin crosses on the County Courthouse is unconstitutional,” blustered the FFRF lawyer. “The inherent religious significance of the Latin cross is undeniable and is not disguisable… The display of this patently religious symbol on public property confers government endorsement of Christianity, a blatant violation of the Establishment Clause.” The letter went on to demand that “San Jacinto County must remove these crosses from the San Jacinto County Courthouse immediately.”

While the FFRF is accustomed to intimidating school districts and government entities into submission to its demands, the residents of San Jacinto County offered a different response. In a nearly three-hour public meeting called by the county commissioners, individuals from Coldspring and the surrounding area weighed in on the FFRF’s demand, insisting that the county keep the crosses in place on the courthouse. “I am a Christian woman,” testified one woman to the commissioners, as reported by TheBlaze.com. “I’m here today as a servant of our Lord and Savior [Jesus Christ], asking that the crosses on our courthouse in Coldspring be left on this building.”

James Holcomb, a student at Calvary Christian Academy, a Christian school in Coldspring, testified that “the foundation of this town is built upon God, and just because you cannot respect that, doesn’t mean you can take it away from us.”

Another citizen recommended that those who don’t like seeing the Christian symbols on the government building should look the other way.

Following testimony by scores of local residents, County Judge Faulkner, chief executive officer of the county, said, “I think the people have spoken. We are elected by the people and it is our obligation to follow the people.” The county commissioners followed up with a unanimous vote to ignore the FFRF’s demands and keep the crosses in place.

In a letter of support to the county, Texas First Assistant Attorney General Jeff Mateer confirmed that the county was within its constitutionally guaranteed rights to “reject FFRF’s demand to impose its anti-religion bias against San Jacinto County.” He added that “we want to make it clear that your county may display historical religious symbols, like crosses, without violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.”

Mateer noted the FFRF’s penchant for filing lawsuits “to try to force government to purge all acknowledgment of religion,” advising that “if that occurs, we look forward to supporting your lawful decision to retain the crosses.”

‘Thoughtcrime’ Is Becoming a Reality

In several Western countries, people are receiving visits from the police to question them about their political views, and some have been arrested.

Cases in the UK and New Zealand have involved people who made comments against mass migration and Islamism. In a May 4 viral video posted on Facebook, a New Zealand man is questioned by police for his alleged posts about the mosque shooting in Christchurch.

Of course, the real issue isn’t about religious “intolerance.” It’s publicly accepted for people, including public leaders, to openly condemn religions such as Christianity. This is very specifically a political issue, related to state policy on mass migration, which is often heavily from Muslim countries. …

Even in the United States, similar practices are now in place, only they’re being enforced by large corporations. Chase Bank is accused of canceling the accounts of some customers who have “right-wing” views; Twitter and Facebook are accused of censoring conservatives; and Google is accused of firing employees for questioning the company culture of “political correctness.” …

Under Mao Zedong, for example, people who opposed his 1967 theory of “political correctness”—which was used to guard his destruction of Chinese culture during the Cultural Revolution—could be labeled as a “counter-revolutionary” and be killed by the regime.

In the United States, the idea that anyone who opposes socialist goals should be attacked by any means comes from the Marxist Frankfurt School’s theory of “repressive tolerance.” The idea, from Herbert Marcuse’s “A Critique of Pure Tolerance” in 1965, held that only things that support the socialist cause should be tolerated, and anyone who opposes it should be met with intolerance.

It introduced a warped concept of “tolerance” that tolerates only its own views. …

We see the same thing today: Intolerance is bad, unless it’s intolerance of those who oppose socialist policies—then it’s encouraged. Attacks on religion are bad, unless they’re attacks on religions that the regime opposes. Racism is bad, unless it’s attacks on the “oppressive” races.

What we’re witnessing is the same theory of thoughtcrime that Orwell envisioned, with a similar thought police enforcement branch and the same doublethink, crimestop, and blackwhite tools to justify it.

UK: Muslim Parents Pelt LGBT Activists With Eggs in Row Over ‘Equality Lessons’

Police are investigating claims that LGBT activists were harassed, intimidated, and pelted with eggs outside a primary school in Birmingham where a row has blown up between the activists, and Muslim parents over the teaching of LGBT issues to children.

Officers are currently looking into three reports of assault and two of criminal damage after the parents and protesters clashed with the LGBT activists who were placing banners reading, “Love is the answer” and rainbow flags on the school gates.

The group of LGBT activists, which consisted of 12 women and one man, said they were harassed and intimidated by the parents and anti-LGBT protesters.
