Central Banking is Central Planning
Rarely heard or suggested in all these commentaries on the Federal Reserve is whether the United States needs or should have a central bank. I would like to suggest that the answer is no, and for many of the same reasons that can be made against socialist central planning in general.
It will be 100 years in 2020 since the Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises first published his famous critique of socialist central planning in his article “Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth” (1920) and then extended the challenge to all facets of collectivism in his 1922 book, Socialism: An Economic and Sociological Analysis. The gist of his argument was that a centrally planned economy did away with the essential institutions necessary for rational economic calculation: private property in the means of production, market competition, and a functioning price system.
In a complex and ever-changing social system of division of labor, all the multitudes of participants are interdependent for all the things needed for everyday life. It is necessary to have some means of knowing what it is that people want to buy in their role as consumers and the value they place on those things; and it is also essential to know what resources are available out of which desired consumer goods might be produced, and what their values might be in the alternative uses for which they could be applied.
In other words, do consumers desire hats, or shoes, or bananas, or breakfast cereal, or classical music, or serious books on economics, or anything else, and what are the relative values they may place on possibly purchasing them? At the same time, what are the available types and quantities of labor, land, resources and raw materials, and capital goods (machinery, tools, equipment) that may be used in various combinations to produce those consumer items, and what might be their appraised values in being employed in different and competing lines of production?

Boeing Changes Its Story, Admits ‘Software Glitch’ Disabled Critical Alerts on 737 Max
In a clarification that only created more confusion, Boeing said Monday that an alert intended to notify pilots when the plane might be receiving erroneous data from one of the 737 MAX 8’s ‘angle of attack’ sensors wasn’t disabled intentionally, as WSJ reported on Sunday, but that the feature had been disabled because of a previously undisclosed software glitch.
What’s confusing is that Boeing had confirmed WSJ’s story that the aerospace company had neglected to tell the FAA and Southwest, the biggest customer for the 737 MAX 8, that the alert feature had been disabled because it had been made a new ‘optional’ safety feature. The alerts would have warned pilots that the plane’s MCAS system might be about to misfire.
However, the airline appears to have changed its story, offering little clarification as to why. During Boeing’s shareholder meeting in Chicago on Monday, CEO Dennis Muilenburg repeated the company’s claim that the alerts were a ‘non-essential’ feature, however, given the fact that the misfire of Boeing’s MCAS system (which Muilenburg also insisted wasn’t an ‘anti-stall’ system, as it has been regularly described in media reports, but instead characterized it as a safety system) is widely suspected to have caused the crashes of Lion Air and an Ethiopian Airlines flights that together killed nearly 350 people makes this claim difficult to believe.
The company said that it didn’t intentionally deactivate the alerts, and that they had only been disabled because of the software issue.
Boeing is now saying that its engineers, as well as safety regulators at the FAA, either missed or overlooked the software glitch that rendered these alerts inoperable, presumably even on planes where the extra safety features had been paid for. The alerts had been standard on earlier models.

An FBI report describes how left-wing Antifa activists schemed with a drug cartel associate to stage an “armed rebellion” at the US/Mexican border.

Former CIA Officer Warns Leftist Violence is Going to Get “Very Very Bad” Over the Next 2 Years

Former CIA officer Kevin Shipp warns that leftist violence is going to get “very very bad” over the next two years in response to President Trump indicting the plotters who tried to remove him from office.
During an interview with USA Watchdog’s Greg Hunter, Shipp, a former manager of high risk Counter Terrorism Center protective operations with the CIA, predicted that there would be arrests of deep state figures who were involved in the scandal.
“This was a coup. It was a conspiracy. It was criminal activity. These people need to be indicted, charged and need to be put in prison, and if they’re not, then our Constitution is nothing more than a sham,” said Shipp.
He added that there was an ongoing “civil war” within the government and that, “There is a Marxist movement within the DNC that is in control right now.”
Forecasting that Trump will win re-election in 2020, the former CIA officer said that the left’s reaction would become increasingly unhinged.
“The danger for ‘We the People’ is the Dark Left and Dark Left violence,” said Shipp. “As these indictments begin to come out, and as the players are called out, the violence on what I call the Dark Left, the violence is going to increase to the point where it’s going to be very, very bad. There are going to be beatings and probably shootings, and shooting at police. . . . There is going to be a lot of violence coming from the Left in the next year or two.”
Shipp urged Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights in preparation for a violent attempt by the left to take over “our Constitution and culture.”

Globalist Magazine “Foreign Affairs” Continues to Trash Trump
The mission statement found in Foreign Affairs magazine asserts that it will “tolerate wide differences of opinion,” and that its articles “will not represent any consensus of belief.”
On the contrary, one can read Foreign Affairs on a regular basis and never see any articles expressing concern about the negative effects of open borders and multilateral trade agreements upon our national sovereignty. In fact, what one gets from the magazine is a steady diet of globalism — and in the last two years, a drumbeat of anti-Trump rhetoric.
The May/June 2019 edition of the bimonthly publication gives every indication that globalism and anti-Trump views will continue to be a staple. A cursory look at the article titles demonstrates this assertion. It was Isikoff who published the first news story based on this “third-hand stuff” from the so-called Steele dossier in September 2016 for Yahoo News, where he was—and still is—”chief investigative correspondent.”
It’s one thing to be a useful idiot (at best), who, after more than 30 years in the news business, is easily gulled by Democratic Party and Clinton campaign contractors into presenting pre-packaged slander against the Republican presidential nominee as responsibly sourced and credible information. It’s quite another to start with this “we” business, to avoid taking responsibility for hoaxing the public in the first place.
Still, Isikoff has performed something of a public service. Thanks to “Russian Roulette,” the 2018 book he co-authored with David Corn, who happened to have written the second load of #FakeNews based on Steele’s “third-hand stuff” in October 2016 for Mother Jones, we can now walk through Isikoff’s steps to see how exactly it first came into public view as “news.”
Private Salons According to “Russian Roulette,” the stage was set in mid-September 2016, when Fusion GPS proprietors Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch “booked a private room” at the Tabard Inn, “a bohemian hotel and bar,” Isikoff and Corn explain, “long favored by Washington journalists.” They add: “It would serve as something of a private salon for Steele and reporters.”
Ick.
Ladies and gents, here we see everything that is wrong with elite journalism. It takes place in private salons. The salons are run by opposition research firms. The salon attraction, in this case, retired British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, interacts with pre-selected reporters from the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, and Yahoo News, some number of whom may even be on the Fusion GPS’s still-redacted journalist payroll, just as Steele is, too. Dictation misnamed as reporting ensues.
For all the chi-chi surroundings, the whole thing smelled, but Isikoff and Corn didn’t seem to notice.
It was here where Steele unloaded his “third-hand stuff” to Isikoff: Carter Page, the peripheral, unpaid Trump campaign adviser, had connections to the Kremlin (for which Page would be hounded even as the “connections” turned out to be fabrications).
“Steele wouldn’t say anything about his sources,” Isikoff wrote. “After all, this was Russia—where sources could be shot or poisoned for talking about such matters.”
Isikoff played along in 2016, and, in a bobbing and weaving way, he still is.
As Isikoff put it recently to Vanity Fair: “It’s been surprising to me the degree to which some people have wanted to maintain that the dossier was checking out when, as far as I can tell, it hasn’t.”
So reasonable, right? Wrong. He continued, explaining that the dossier was “not a total wash” and, key point, also was worthy of investigation:
“There are aspects in there, like cultivating Trump on business relationships, that there is support for, so it’s not a total wash. But it’s the specifics that really knocked people over the head, that really set expectations for what Mueller was gonna find—a vast criminal conspiracy of collusion—and the reality seems to be that the relationships are murkier than that. … None of this justifies the Republican jihad to undermine the entire investigation.”
That’s the bottom line. For the anti-Trump conspiracy, the phoniness of the dossier’s contents was and is immaterial to the grand strategy to trigger an “entire investigation”—first, domestic spying on the Trump team, and, later, the Special Counsel investigation.
In “Russian Roulette,” we watch Steele bait this hook for Isikoff. All of this “truly disturbing” information about Page, Steele told Isikoff, had been presented to the FBI. “There were people in the Bureau taking this very seriously.”

Trump Appears Ready to Deliver a Stunning Blow to the Deep State and Democrats
After two years of being on the defensive as the Deep State and its political allies attempted to undermine and deligitimize his presidency, President Donald Trump now appears ready to strike back. And if recent revelations are an accurate indicator, the fallout for the Deep State and Democrats could be phenomenal.
Late last week, President Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he will declassify “everything” related to the FISA warrant applications used to illegally spy on him and his campaign. When Hannity asked President Trump if he planned to remove the classified status from the FISA applications, the president did not miss a beat before simply saying, “yes.” Trump then added, “Everything is going to be declassified and more — much more than what you just mentioned. it will all be declassified.” As to why he waited so long to strike back with this move, Trump said, “I’m glad I waited because I thought that maybe they would obstruct if I did it early and I think I was right. So I’m glad I waited and now the attorney general can take a very strong look at whatever it is.”
This fits very well with another piece of the puzzle that was also revealed recently.
In an appearance on The Ingraham Angel last week, former federal prosecutor Joseph DiGenova — who served as an independent counsel in 1992 investigating then-candidate Bill Clinton — claimed that evidence of a “coup” to oust President Trump is forthcoming and that “there are going to be indictments; there’s going to be grand juries.”

U.S. Working to Designate Muslim Brotherhood ‘Terrorist’
The Trump administration is working to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a foreign terrorist organization, the White House said on Tuesday, which would bring sanctions against Egypt’s oldest Islamist movement.
“The president has consulted with his national security team and leaders in the region who share his concern, and this designation is working its way through the internal process,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in an email.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi asked President Donald Trump to make the designation, which Egypt has already done, in a private meeting during a visit to Washington on April 9, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.

LONDON (Reuters) — A request by the United States to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for one of the biggest ever leaks of classified information will be heard by a London court on Thursday.
“Julian Assange will be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court at 1030 tomorrow for ‘violating his bail conditions’ whilst seeking & obtaining political asylum,” WikiLeaks said.
“On Thursday at 10AM there will be a hearing in Westminster Magistrate Court on the US extradition request,” it said.

University of North Carolina on Lockdown Amid Active Shooter Alert — 2 Confirmed Dead
NORTH CAROLINA university was put on lockdown on Tuesday following reports of an active shooter on the campus.
Two people have been confirmed dead following an active shooter situation in Charlotte. Police and emergency services were on the scene. The suspect, reportedly a 22-year-old male student, is now in custody. A university spokesperson said: “Shots have been reported in the area of Kennedy. The campus is in lockdown. Secure yourself immediately and remain there until further notice.”

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demonstrated the old adage “actions speak louder than words” at a recent town hall when a constituent questioned the socialist’s “fascist” perspective on free speech.
Video of the sparsely attended event in Queens featured a small crowd and a line of speakers waiting to address Ocasio-Cortez, who stood on an elevated stage behind a fancy podium…
There was a brief back-and-forth between AOC and Berry, but only the congresswoman’s comments are audible in the video, which shows an Ocasio-Cortez aide approach Berry, who became agitated about being silenced.
“If you didn’t turn my mic off, I wouldn’t have to raise my voice,” Berry told AOC’s aide. “You fascists turned my mic off.”
“Oh sir, no, no,” the congresswoman said. “You can turn his mic on, you didn’t have to turn it off.”
“Thank you very much,” Berry said, microphone restored…
“I don’t think the president should have tweeted that video that he tweeted,” AOC said, referring to a video of fellow Justice Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar minimizing the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something.”
Omar complained that President Trump posting a video of her comments to Twitter led to death threats and put her life and her family at risk.
“Do I think he should have gone to jail for it? Absolutely not,” she said. “But I don’t think he should have done that. I think by endangering Congresswoman Omar he was playing with this line, and …”
“Well, I disagree,” Berry said, cutting Ocasio-Cortez off mid-sentence. “She endangered herself.”
Berry then offered his assessment on AOC’s perspective.
“That’s not endangerment by showing a true video. So showing the truth is endangerment, is inciting violence, to show the truth. That is fascism,” Berry fumed. “His right to show the truth of what happened is just as valid as her right to say whatever she wants to say.”
AOC was on her heels.
“It is,” she agreed. “And sir, that’s why he’s not being … that’s why there’s no charges being brought up against him.”
“He’s being criticized by you as though there should be charges,” Berry fired back.
“No, no, I don’t think there should be charges,” AOC said.
“You say he’s inciting violence against her,” Berry responded.
“I think he is,” AOC said.
“That’s absurd,” Berry replied. “You cannot incite violence. Inciting violence is illegal.”
“You’re bringing incitement and hate speech together, which is totally absurd and fascist,” he concluded.

Video: Journalist Defends Himself Against Antifa Mob Attack
Violent left-wing group stunned by YouTuber’s response.
A journalist defended himself against a violent Antifa mob attack during a protest in Huntington Beach on Saturday.
The demonstration saw two groups with opposing views on illegal immigration face off against each other.
During the rally, a YouTube journalist who goes by the moniker “THAT’S THE POINT with Brandon” became involved in a confrontation with armed mask-wearing Antifa thugs.
“This is America, I should be able to talk and walk wherever I want, right?” he adds as the mob circles around him.
A short Antifa member then fronts up to Brandon, prompting the YouTuber to tell him, “You don’t weigh enough little boy, you’re underage.”
The mob then begins grabbing on Brandon and hitting him with sticks, but Brandon defends himself adeptly with several punches.
Several members of the mob appear stunned that Brandon is able to defend himself so well and back away in fear…
“Though the media loves hyperventilating over rhetorical attacks on journalists, this physical attack on an independent journalist appears to have merited only one news article from the local news outlet the OC Register,” writes Chris Menahan.
Three Antifa members were later arrested for the attack, which left Brandon with a bleeding head wound.

Four arrested in plot targeting security personnel
French police arrested four people suspected of plotting an “extremely violent” attack on security forces, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Three men and a teenage minor had reportedly been working to accumulate weapons for the attack, which would have targeted security personnel.
The minor was already serving a three year probation sentence for attempting to travel to Syria to join ISIS in 2017, and the three men had criminal histories, as well.

Sixteen statues of Jesus’s disciples that used to decorate the spire of Notre-Dame cathedral were safe in Périgueux when the fire started, by a lucky coincidence.
The mid-19th century copper statues had been removed for restoration to workshops of the SOCRA company and were waiting to have bases fitted so they could be returned to Notre-Dame for an exhibition while restoration work on the spire was carried out.

Italy: Migrant Prison Rampage Injures Nine Guards, Two Suffer ‘Serious Cranial Trauma’
A total of nine prison officers were injured, including two with serious cranial trauma, after a migrant prisoner violently attacked them, leading to major complaints being lodged by the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union (SAPPE).
The incident took place at Dozza prison in Bologna, Italy, on Sunday morning, and saw the migrant, whose identity and national origin was not reported, lash out at the guards and go on a rampage that required two of the victims be transported immediately to a local hospital due to the extent of the head trauma they suffered, Il Giornale reports.

There are two significant commands which exist in the Quran that gives Muslims authority to look out over an Islamic society for any signs deemed indecent or un-Islamic in public. Two Species of Colourful Stick Insects Discovered in Madagascar
TWO new species of stick insect have been found in the far north of Madagascar. They were previously thought to be examples of two existing giant stick insect species.
Achrioptera maroloko (pictured) and Achrioptera manga were discovered when Sven Bradler at the University of Göttingen, Germany, and his colleagues analysed the insects’ DNA. They found that the species are in fact more closely related to other types of Madagascan stick insects than to Achrioptera species elsewhere (Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, doi.org/c4nv).

“Diversity Statements”: Academia’s New Loyalty Oath
Institutions of higher learning, once dedicated to the free exchange of ideas, are increasingly becoming left-wing echo chambers, and nowhere is that more obvious than in their growing use of “diversity statements” to making hiring, promotion, and tenure decisions.
Simply put, anyone who wants to work in secular academia these days had better be a social-justice warrior or play one on campus. “Professors and other faculty members are asked to pledge their commitment to ‘equity’ and ‘inclusion’ and to demonstrate how they have acted to fulfill this pledge in the past,” Christian Schneider wrote in a New York Post op-ed.
The University of California (UC) is the most famous example. The Los Angeles campus demands that all professors applying for tenure-track positions “write a statement on their commitment to diversity, showing, for example, their ‘record of success advising women and minority graduate students,’“ reported RealClearInvestigations. Similar mandates are in place at other UC campuses.
This is serious business. Merely offering a few bromides about your commitment to diversity won’t cut it, UC Merced associate sociology professor Tanya Golash-Boza argued in an Inside Higher Ed article. “Strong” diversity statements, she explained, tell of candidates’ “experiences teaching first-generation college students, their involvement with LGBTQ student groups, their experiences teaching in inner-city high schools and their awareness of how systemic inequalities affect students’ ability to excel.” She advised candidates to “write about racial oppression, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism or some other commonly recognized form of oppression.”

Canada: Prof on Free Speech ‘Sh*tlords’: ‘Fire Them’ And ‘Hound Them From Restaurants’

A professor claimed Sunday that “vile little sh*tlords” who belong to free speech-themed clubs on campus should lose their jobs and be chased out of restaurants.
University of New Brunswick professor Matthew Sears made the assertion on Twitter in response to the San Diego synagogue shooting Saturday.
“We should name every white supremacist,” Sears said. “Name every writer, blogger, YouTuber, and politician that inspires them. Plaster their faces in public. Fire them from their jobs. Hound them from restaurants. Expose them and those that fuel them for the hateful pathetic wretches they are.”
The professor lumped campus free speech activists into this group in a subsequent tweet.
“And that includes every vile little shitlord in a campus ‘free speech’ club who spends his time platforming white supremacist trolls under the banner of ‘free speech,’ and every grifting liar that goes on about campus ‘censorship’ and the ‘marketplace of ideas,’“ Sears stated.

Canadian Court: Father Found Guilty of Family Violence for Calling Daughter a Girl
The Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, has ruled that a 14-year-old girl can, without parental permission, get hormone treatments to change her sex, and it has also ruled that the father is guilty of “family violence” because he called her a girl.
Back in February of this year, the girl’s father was ordered to stop calling her a girl and calling her by her birth name, which he refused to do. To stop that crime, the Supreme Court issued a “protection order” mandating that her father be arrested immediately without a warrant, if calls her a girl privately or publicly or speaks about the case at all.
So the courts in Canada will now force parents to indulge the delusions of minor children who think they’re members of the opposite sex.
Virtually proving that the opposition to the move is correct in its belief that this is craziness, the court also expunged court records of the names of two doctors who were in favor of a gender transition for the girl, one doctor of whom, Dr. Wallace Wong, is catching flak for “diagnosing as much as 20 percent of the children in his local orphanage system with some form of gender dysphoria,” reported The Federalist.
Not that things are better in the United States. Last year, a judge in Cincinnati took a 17-year-old away from the parents after they refused to go along with a “sex change.”

Uber Driver Who Refused to Take Women for Abortion Fired
After he learned his passenger was going to an abortion clinic, the Uber driver offered to take her anywhere else. She refused, reported him to police and he was fired. But at least she could walk—unlike the young man who survived an abortion but had his legs ripped off. He’s not giving up but he has to like with the consequences of someone else’s “choice”.

UK: Delingpole: Cambridge Appoints Grievance Archaeologists to Unearth Slavery Shame
Cambridge University, formerly a distinguished seat of learning, is funding two grievance archaeologists to go through its archives in order to discover how guilty it needs to feel about slavery — and how much it owes in compensation.
Glasgow University, also formerly a distinguished seat of learning, has already done this. It has decided that it has benefited from slavery to the tune of £200 million — a debt it now plans to repay in a programme of “reparative justice” which includes setting up a centre for the study of slavery.
Who knows what evidence those Cambridge-funded grievance archaeologists might find?
If they’re really diligent, they might come across the name of one William Wilberforce, formerly an undergraduate at St John’s College. But if they’ve any sense they’ll keep it quiet: the point of the exercise is to lament white privilege, promote race-baiting and, no doubt, to create employment for favoured minorities. Bringing up the name of a white, wealthy, middle-class male Cambridge alumnus who did more than anyone to stop the trans-Atlantic slave trade would only confuse the issue.

There was a strange event in Kalalé, Iran: All the mammals in the area died. (Don’t know when it happened, must have been the last few days)
The video I watched, and I cannot find on Youtube yet, shows corpses of tens of gazelles being carried. Several wounds on their bodies could be seen. Gazelles, sheep and antelopes died according to the footage.
The official explanation has it that some pesticide operation to combat locusts went wrong, but I’m not convinced. I wonder what sort of pesticide, and in what quantities, could cause such big wounds on gazelles’ bodies. I prefer to believe they were testing some sort of weapons until someone can come up with a better explanation.
Where are activists and defenders of animals? Guess they are too busy examining sentiments of Muslims to notice anything that really matters. Apparently a huge slaughter of animals has happened. Also the area must be contaminated with some unknown chemicals now.

‘The Marketing of Evil’.
It is easy to read and to the point. He makes good use of the words of the groups and individuals themselves whose nefarious works he exposes.
Each chapter covers specific damaging movements that have been unleashed in the West.
It is one of my preferred resources when teaching others of the dangers of the Left.

This is really the result of lobbying by the Asian community to force the entire British population to eat only Chinese and Indian curry take-away.
That is, food not requiring knives.
Seriously, this is a near-impossible situation for the UK authorities. I’m aware of the quite different situation in the US, where gun crime is much more common, and that most such crimes are perpetrated with illegal weapons (or ones stolen from relatives), though I can’t help wondering whether the relatively widespread legal ownership of guns doesn’t add to the available “pool”, so to speak.
Britain is different; as in continental Europe, legal gun ownership has been much reduced since WW2, for various reasons (excuses?). We have a major problem with (mostly black) gangs, often engaged in drug trafficking, but not always, and knives have become the weapons of default; my knee-jerk reaction is that anyone even carrying a knife in public should be jailed, but would it be a deterrent? Especially as the recent rise in fatal stabbings seems to be due to young, male immigrants from war zones/tribal cultures such as Somalia, likely already traumatised and brutalised. Yet jailing teenage (often not even legally adult) boys feels like throwing them on the scrapheap.
Sorry if this sounds like a counsel of despair, and of course it’s an argument for tighter screening of potential immigrants, but we are where we are in the meantime.
