“I Fought Back”

One evening in August 2010 a fourteen-year-old schoolboy in Glasgow was walking home after playing with friends. In his own words:

“I turned a corner and these three Asian guys were standing just outside their car smoking. …They came at me with metal poles and shouted, ‘See you, you wee p***k! You’re going to be the next Kriss Donald! We’re going to murder you!’ …They punched me in the face about six times and I fell to the ground before they hit me over the head with the poles and spat at me. …Then they tried to drag me into their car… I’m quite a big lad for my age and I fought back with all my strength, and I struggled free and ran for my life. …They got back in the car and raced off but I managed to get some of their registration number… It all happened so quickly and I still can’t believe it. I’d never seen these guys before so I don’t know why they targeted me.” (DailyRecord.co.uk 6-8-2010).

That incident could have become much uglier. Kriss Donald, a fifteen-year-old also from Glasgow, had been abducted from the street in 2004 by several men of Pakistani background — complete strangers to him — and bundled into their car. He was driven around for some hours, the men torturing him in the back of the car. Eventually they drove to some waste ground in Glasgow. He was subjected to multiple stabbings, had petrol poured over him and was set on fire. He managed to crawl a few feet before succumbing to his injuries and later dying. He had been castrated and had had his eyes gouged out. His killers were later traced to Pakistan. With the noble help of a local Asian M.P. (for which he was much criticised by local muslims) they were brought to Scotland, tried, and imprisoned.

Why did they kill? Why at random? They are muslim. Are there Islamic teachings that influenced them?

“As a muslim,” explains Anjem Choudary, “I must have hatred for everything which is non Islam”. Islam indoctrinates hatred and contempt for non-muslims. They are labelled with a special pejorative term — kafir (Arabic plural kuffar): “We hate the kuffar,” stressed Usamah Ath Thahabi (Channel 4 Undercover Mosque, 2009). The Koran, which forms part of Islamic law, gives the instructions. Kafirs are “unclean” (9:28), “the vilest of beasts” (8:22), on a level with faeces, urine, corpses, blood, semen, pig and dog (islam-laws.com). Jews and Christians follow “remnant cults” of no validity (Manual of Islamic Law, w.4), and are as “apes and pigs” (5:60), “the most despicable” (98:6). Women are instructed not to shake hands with a kafir.

Muslims inhabit “Dar al Islam”, the House of Islam. Kafirs, on the other hand, inhabit “Dar al Harb”, the House of War: Islam is in a permanent state of war with kafirs. “Kill them… Fight them,” says the Koran, over and over again (www.TheReligionOfPeace.com). The Koran claims that the Jews did “alter the Scripture” (3:78), and the Christians “forgot a portion… so We caused among them animosity and hatred.” (5:14) Both have thus “chosen” not to follow the true path (Arabic “sharia”, path) and are therefore not innocent. If he does not embrace Islam the kafir is available to be killed, his property appropriated, his womenfolk and children enslaved (Koran 9:29; Bukhari 1: 2: 25).

Islam’s texts are not optional: there is no pick and choose, no freedom of conscience: “When a matter has been decided by Allah and his messenger the muslim man or woman has no choice,” says Koran 33:36. “None may change his words” (18:27) or deny them: the penalty is death, as it is for leaving Islam (Manual of Islamic Law o8.7(7)). “Whoever ceases to be a member of Islam, kill him,” said Mohammed (Bukhari 9.84.57). The Koran is promoted as “valid from eternity to eternity”, explains Sam Solomon, a former professor of Sharia Law. Islam — the word means “submission” — is a doctrine of supremacism by force.

“Does Islam, or does it not, force people by the power of the sword to submit…? Yes,” wrote Osama bin Laden (frontpagemag.com 28 June 2011), and “Battle, animosity, and hatred — directed from the Muslim to the infidel — is the foundation of our religion.” (open letter after 9/11)

“Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them,” commands Koran 9:5. That chapter, or “sura”, the ninth, “Sura At-Tawba”, the one cited by the Woolwich killer, is especially significant. It overrides and cancels out all the peaceful verses elsewhere in the Koran — under Islam’s doctrine of “abrogation” — because it is later in temporal sequence. As the Woolwich killer said, “The Koran forces us in Sura At-Tawba…”

“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.’” (Bukhari 8.387)

“Islam says: ‘Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all!’” said Ayatollah Khomeini (LogansWarning), and “Jihad stands for killing all kafirs around the world.” (islam-watch.org)

“Fight non-muslims,” says Koran 8:39, “…until Islam is the ONLY governance.”

Choudary enthuses:

“There is a place for violence in Islam. There is a place for jihad in Islam… The Koran is full of, you know, jihad and jihad is the most talked about duty in the Koran… Nothing else is mentioned more than the topic of fighting in the Koran.” (www.islam-watch.org 2 Aug 2010)

The killing of a kafir is exempt from retaliation in Islamic law (Manual of Islamic Law o1.2(2)). “The life of an unbeliever has no value,” says Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed (watson37). The example of the “perfect man” Mohammed, who, for instance, had men’s feet and hands cut off, had their eyes put out with hot brands and left them on desert rocks (Bukhari 1.234), is promoted as a “beautiful pattern” of conduct to follow (Koran 33:21). Muslims “are merciful to one another but ruthless to the unbeliever.” (48:29) “The tree of Islam is irrigated with blood, not with water,” a child preacher explains (MEMRI). It is a seventh-century desert tribal mindset.

For nearly 1400 years, ever since Mohammed attacked Mecca, deliberately destroyed all its three hundred and sixty non-Islamic idols and symbols, beheaded critics and forced the inhabitants to obey him, Islam has achieved a blood-soaked history of being spread by the sword. See the repeated pattern of attacking neighbouring peoples one after another, slaughtering, subjugating them, exacting the protection tax, “jizya”, forcibly converting, plundering, raping, and enslaving them, demolishing their churches and temples, and building supremacist mosques on the sacred sites. Force is what is used to impose Sharia law on all mankind. It is not a history of peace.

Islam is “an ideological political movement,” Choudary explains, while “man-made law is anathema to a muslim,” and “democracy, liberalism, freedom, and so on… need to be destroyed.” (www.GatesofVienna.net 17 Oct 2011). This work-in-progress, this war, continues today in many regions to establish Islam as the only governance — the global Caliphate — witness Kosovo, Chechnya, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Somalia, Darfur, Ethiopia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Western China — in fact, almost anywhere with “religious tensions”. Now that the Caliphate has been declared in Iraq there is no longer a need to claim that attacks by muslims are self-defence. The Caliph is authorised to declare aggressive jihad, which he has done, against all countries of the West.

Time after time it is Islam against the rest. “Muslims must kill non-believers wherever they are unless they convert to Islam,” said Ali Gom’a, Grand Mufti of Egypt, the highest Muslim religious authority in the world. The Caliphate has no room for nation states: “Queen and Country — Go to Hell!” chanted Choudary’s men on 9/11 2010 (YouTube). “Prophet said ‘Islam is one nation to the exclusion of all others’,” read a placard in Oxford Street (25-3-11 YouTube ThinkAfricaPress). “Peace is when the whole world is muslim,” explained Sayeed Qutb, co-founder of the Muslim Brotherhood (JihadWatch).

Why the killing at random? A sudden strike, seemingly for no reason, instills fear: “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers.” (Koran 8:12) Mohammed himself proclaimed “I have been made victorious with terror.” (Bukhari 4.52.220) “The Koran directly commands us to commit terrorism, so why are we afraid of it?” proclaimed Egyptian M.P. Ragab Hilal Hamida in the Egyptian Parliament (Wafa Sultan).

For the West to be continually making exceptions and bending rules for this homicidal ideology is a dire mistake. Islam — in its “permanent state of war” — openly declares itself committed to destroying democracy and the nation state. The instruction to kill is hardwired in the Koran. “Fight the unbelievers and kill them until Islam is the only governance,” says Koran 8:39. “You people will never be safe,” the Woolwich killer warned. The boy in Glasgow was told, “We are going to murder you.”

Self-defence is the right of every individual and the duty of every government. That brave teenage boy is the example: “I fought back with all my strength.”
