Grandpa

Earlier today I posted subtitled excerpts from a press conference given by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The photo below wasn’t appropriate in that context, so I’m posting it here. It shows Mr. Orbán with his grandchildren. The text reads, “Happy New Year”:

The photo was included in an annual letter sent out to members of the Fidesz party.

  1. Not a single liberal leader in Europe has a child, not mention grandchildren…
Speaks volumes about how much they care, what kind of world they leave behind…

  2. Unlike other European leaders (May, Merkel, Macron) President Orban has a *real* interest in the future.

    • Some of us have (sadly in my case) no children; this doesn’t mean we don’t care about the futures of our nieces and nephews, godchildren, friends’ offspring- and even your kids’ (if any).

      • Point taken.

Yes I do have children, three boys (men) and two girls (women), and six grandchildren, three boys and three girls. I’m proud to say my sons share my worldview.

It’s interesting, do you not think, that Europe’s three main leaders do not have children. I wonder if it is more than coincidence. Who was it who said, “I don’t believe in coincidence.”?

      • The lack of children is still a factor for a leader not to have interest in the future.

  3. Some people could not have children.
Children are important but even with no children we should understand the current conditions and sacrifice for future of others children.Because we are all in this together, all for one one for all .

  4. The Hungarians are the Ungry and other tribes of the Urals and the Volga region, who came along with other barbarians to Pannonia. Assimilated, contributed to culture and history.
I doubt that the new barbarians of Europe are capable of it.
I have a friend Hungarian from Ukraine – he has the Latin name Fabrizius.

  5. Theresa May – childless.
    Emmanuel Macron – childless
    Angela Merkel – Childless
    Justin Trudeau – childless
& the list goes on and on of progressives with no stake in the real future.

  6. A heartwarming photo! So very welcome amidst the tons of grim news coming from all corners of the world. This humanizes Orban in a way that reams of the printed word could not. Thanks for this glimpse into the personal life of one of today’s true leaders.
