Sears May be Down to Its Last 24 Hours. Iconic Retailer Likely Liquidates if No Bid Comes in Tomorrow.

Sears, the 125-year-old icon, has 24 hours to survive.

The employer of more than 68,000 filed for bankruptcy in October. Its last shot at survival is a $4.6 billion proposal put forward by its chairman, Eddie Lampert, to buy the company out of bankruptcy through his hedge fund, ESL Investments. ESL is the only party offering to buy Sears as a whole, people familiar with the situation tell CNBC. Without that bid or another like it, liquidators will break the company up into pieces.

Apocalypse Not

As everyone knows, climate orthodoxy holds that climate change from carbon emissions is going to make extreme weather more extreme. So I won’t hold my breath waiting to hear the climatistas commenting on this story from the Bezos Bulletin Washington Post today:

2018 will be the first year with no violent tornadoes in the United States

In the whirlwind that is 2018, there has been a notable lack of high-end twisters.

If You Only Get Your News From CNN, You Have No Idea This Story Happened

A left-wing billionaire gave $100,000 towards an online misinformation campaign that mimicked Russian interference operations — but if you only get your news from CNN, then you have no idea that happened.

Linkedin co-founder Reid Hoffman, an early investor in Facebook, was behind a six-figure misinformation campaign that involved falsely linking Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore to Russian influence operations during Alabama’s December 2017 special election.

Charges against Mowlid Abdi Ahmed include two felony counts of second—degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, Ahmed was taking an Uber home from a bar in Mankato when he attempted to start a fight with the victim over a relationship with a woman.

The victim was taken to the emergency room and was later unable to communicate with authorities due to being heavily sedated.

Ahmed could serve up to 29 years in prison if convicted.

Media Tries to Shame Trump for Not Visiting Troops… Trump Gets Last Laugh

John Cardillo of NewsMax nailed it with his tweet:

Mueller Must be Investigated for Destruction of FBI Evidence: Giuliani

Special counsel Robert Mueller needs to be investigated for destruction of FBI evidence, President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani said in an interview with Hill.TV’s John Solomon and Buck Sexton.

Referencing recent reports that Mueller’s office allowed text messages from former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page to be destroyed, Giuliani levied harsh accusations at the special counsel.

“Mueller should be investigated for destruction of evidence for allowing those text messages from Strzok to be erased, messages that would show the state of mind and tactics of his lead anti-Trump FBI agent at the start of his probe,” said Giuliani.

The Inspector General of the DOJ revealed in a report this month that it found large gaps in text message records between Strzok and Page, the top FBI agents in charge of investigating both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the 2016 US election. Of note, the two agents harbored extreme animus against then-candidate Trump, while supporting Hillary Clinton — bias which the DOJ claims never made its way into their work.

“How many people’s hearts sank when they saw the Dow went up 1,000 points because they really hoped Trump had plunged us into a bear market that would cause GOP legislators to turn on him and support removal after impeachment?” tweeted Podhoretz.

One Year of Legal Pot Sales and California Doesn’t Have the Bustling Industry it Expected. Here’s Why

When Californians voted in 2016 to allow the sale of recreational marijuana, advocates of the move envisioned thousands of pot shops and cannabis farms obtaining state licenses, making the drug easily available to all adults within a short drive.

But as the first year of licensed sales comes to a close, California’s legal market hasn’t performed as state officials and the cannabis industry had hoped. Retailers and growers say they’ve been stunted by complex regulations, high taxes and decisions by most cities to ban cannabis shops. At the same time, many residents are going to city halls and courts to fight pot businesses they see as nuisances, and police chiefs are raising concerns about crime triggered by the marijuana trade.

Justin Trudeau’s Terrible New Election Rules Will Limit Citizen Activism

Stories of eroding democracy loom large in the global press these days; the alleged culprits are usually flamboyant strongmen with open authoritarian objectives. But democracy can just as easily be weakened in progressive nations by its own purported saviors, through quiet, bureaucratic means.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government recently passed more than 200 pages of dramatic changes to the way Canadian elections work. Among other things, the new rules will further restrain the degree that Canadians can exercise their constitutional rights to free political speech and activism. Such regulations were passed with the standard progressive smugness that heavily regulating political speech and activity in the name of fairness and equality is unambiguously virtuous. Righteous self-confidence, however, does not negate the practical consequences of this fundamentally illiberal exercise of state power.

Hungary’s Orban: Bringing Africa’s Problems to Europe Will ‘Destroy 2,000-Year-Old Culture’

“Some people say that the solution is to bring migrants to Europe because they think it will be good for their country. The Hungarian position is that we don’t want this. There is an ideological difference,” he explained.

“This isn’t a solution for Africa, nor for Europe. In this case, our culture, which we have been cultivating in Europe for two thousand years, would be destroyed.”

Sen. Mike Lee Blocks Senate Confirmation of LGBT Activist to EEOC

Utah Sen. Mike Lee continues to block the Senate’s confirmation of an LGBT activist to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Lee, a Republican, is blocking confirmation of Chai Feldblum, President Donald Trump’s nominee to the EEOC. Feldblum — a left-wing Democrat — is known as the architect of former President Barack Obama’s LGBT agenda.

Feldblum has a history of making controversial statements about religious liberty when it comes in conflict with the “rights” of LGBT activists.

In a 2006 Weekly Standard report, Maggie Gallagher noted that, after news broke that Catholic Charities in Boston would be required to place adoptive children with same-sex couples to keep its license, Feldblum’s response did not suggest a respect for religious freedom.

“When push comes to shove, when religious liberty and sexual liberty conflict, she admits, ‘I’m having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win,’“ Gallagher reported on Feldblum’s reply…

“If Feldblum were a typical Democrat, it might make sense to let her nomination proceed through the Senate along with her two Republican colleagues,” Lee said in a statement in February. “But Feldblum is no typical Democrat. Her radical views on marriage and the appropriate use of government power place her far outside even the liberal mainstream.”…

The EEOC is one of those “independent” — read rogue — federal agencies created by Congress that exercises considerable power with no accountability to American citizens. The commission is not part of one of the three branches of government, yet still does its share of legislative, judicial, and executive decision-making. Operating as part of a “fourth branch of government,” the EEOC might be considered by many to be smack in the middle of “the swamp.”

  1. “World Hijab Day Encourages All Women to Wear Veil in Solidarity With Muslims” why not? If all muslim women show their solidarity on a following day by removing their headscarfs for 24 hours. Otherwise they can stick that day you know where…

  2. This time and exceptionally the government is not responsable for that nonsense. It is another scam attempted by so- called liberal muslims.
What will happen when the state collects taxes from muslims? Will this stop funding out of muslim states?
There is nothing to collect there as 40% are on welfare or poorly paid jobs and many selfemployed grocers and tayloring shops do not generate taxable revenue, they say. The funding will go on for bigger mosques and indoctrination centres, say like a muslim Harvard or Princeton?

    • The whole idea is outrageous. Why should ANY government subsidise ANY religious building, except if it’s an old one of historic interest, which is obviously not the case here?

Some years back, I visited the beautiful new Sikh temple in Southall, west London (and was made very welcome). This was paid for by Sikhs in India as well as the UK, which is fine, as Sikhs (with one exception in Canada a while back) don’t tend to engage in terrorist activities; the assassination of Indira Gandhi was a special case.

    • Elena – I think I know the cause (or a major cause) of homosexuality (or male homosexuality at least). Looking at the human race from a wider perspective than the one you and I were both brought up in, and which you clearly still espouse, homosexuality is neither shameful nor a perversion but a “normal” evolutionary response to what we can assume has been a regular feature of human, and pre-human society – namely polygyny.

If we look back over history, or at more primitive societal models still existing today, such as those to be found in Islam or Swaziland, polygyny is the norm. Not polygamy, because that refers to both polygyny and polyandry (and there’s not much of that in Islam) but the harem system whereby high status males grab more than their fair share of the available females. That means there will always be a proportion of males left without a female mate. I suggest that male homosexuality arose in the human race in order to avoid the likely result of damaging fighting over the females.

I say “in order” but of course (if you accept the reality of natural selection) nature doesn’t do anything with a purpose. Imagine two tribes living next to each other. One tribe has no homosexuality in its genetic make up and regularly loses a few of its warriors fighting over a scarce resource, solving the imbalance that way. A mutation appears in the tribe next door which results in no loss of warriors, male homosexuaity. Which tribe is favoured when they next go to war, and which genes are more likely to pass through the filter of natural selection?

If I am right then various things follow. One is that it is quite unjustified for heterosexuals to despise homosexuals. Another, bringing it back to the subject of this blog, is that Islam is in the ridiculous position of anathematising what it goes out of its way to perpetuate. It also implies that Allah was ignorant of evolutionary psychology which is a sore lack in an omniscient being, tending to support the view that it was really Mohammed talking!

      • In any case, we consider everything through an individual framework. I do not know how I would live with this kind of aberration. I can not even imagine.
But if on this planet – gomosapiens consists of two sexes, then it is not just.
Gomosapiens is created to be a mediator between the Earth and the Cosmos (and not to be a toy in the hands of schemers). The death of men in wars is not the norm. And we are not a gorillas, where alpha males create harems for themselves.
And people with aberrations should not in any way corrupt the offspring of homosapiens.
Let them compose music or dance like Nureyev.

      • I’ve made this point here previously, but it may bear repetition: according to recent research, homosexuality and trangenderism are caused by too much or too little testosterone “in utero”. I can’t be the only person here who’s come across the stereotypical “butch lesbian”: masculine in appearance, bulky, with short hair and wearing male attire and no makeup. This is plainly NOT a matter of choice.

It should follow that such people deserve our compassion, unless they make a political issue of it, or demand the right to have children (it being well established that children raised by both genders do best).

        • Mark, the head of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins (a prestigious American hospital in Baltimore) said, upon his resignation, that “transgenderism” is a compulsive masculine mental disorder characterized by exhibitionism (among other problems). He said attempting to normalize it was a serious mistake.

Homosexuality is another thing entirely, and there is some question whether or not male babies received enough of an androgen bath in utero to make their neural networks sufficiently masculine.

IMHO, lesbians are made, not born. Female”ness” is the default mode; if Mother Nature doesn’t interfere, boy babies don’t get made.

Then there is the kind of social interference that the Chinese and Indians do, aborting/killing female fetuses/newborns. Which leaves huge cohorts of single men who will never be able to marry or have children. But that does leave both countries with untold amounts of cannon fodder. How helpful such a situation will be in modern wars remains to be seen…

    • Sorry, I didn’t understand what you wanted to say. Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to find a similar article in English.
But there is Google and there is Yandex. When I read information on a topic that interests me, I do not even pay attention to the language in which it is written.
      God save the technological progress!

Here, I found funny information from India.
The authorities flooded the park with water so that Muslims could not pray there.

It would be nice to fill Hyde Park with water.

  3. What slowly becomes clear is that this “mosque tax” in Germany will make it impossible for a former Muslim to leave Islam unnoticed. Because it is all in the records then.

  4. The tax should not be put in place to build mosques. It should be a tax on muslims just for the sake of being muslims.

Pay, convert, or leave (we’re nicer than you, you would not let us leave with our heads between our necks.).

Let’s see if they like to pay jyzia.
