Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/8/2018

An ex-Marine named Ian Long arrived at a bar in southern California and shot the bouncer before entering, and then shot the cashier inside. After throwing smoke bombs at the patrons to confuse and terrify them, he opened fire. When a sergeant from the sheriff’s office entered the bar, the attacker shot and killed him, and then killed himself before the SWAT team stormed the premises. In addition to himself, the shooter killed 12 people and wounded a number of others. Mr. Long had served in Afghanistan, and it is thought that PTSD may have contributed to his behavior.

In other news, the Italian senate passed Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s proposed law to make it easier to deport criminal migrants.

Italy: No Bank Risk But Ready to Step in — Salvini

Italian banking system more solid than Germany’s

(ANSA) — Rome, November 7 — Italy’s banks face no risks at the moment but the government is ready to step should they arise, Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini said Wednesday.

Asked if there were measures in the pipeline to protect the banking system, he replied “there is no risk. The Italian banking system is much more solid, barring rare exceptions, than the German banking system”.

“If there were a need, but i don’t think there is, for any type of intervention, we are ready in a quarter of an hour.

“This to make possible speculators understand that they are spending their money badly if they are betting on Italian problems.

“We are ready, in all scenarios, to cover and support the savings of Italians”.

There has been speculation that banks may be weakened by a persistently high bond yield spread with Germany, sparked by a budget row with the EU.

According to the EU’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, joblessness in Poland dropped to 3.4 percent in August, the second-lowest rate in the 28-member European Union.

Abrams: Banning Guns No Different Than Banning Radar Detectors

Ga. governor candidate previously said some Georgians may have to “turn their guns in”

Ga. governor candidate Stacey Abrams equated banning guns to banning radar detectors.

“I support a law that will ban ‘assault weapons,’“ the Democrat stated on CNN. “And just as when we banned radar detection, for example, some people turned in their devices, some people kept them and just refused to use them anymore.”

But she suggested her gun control policies would be stricter than a radar detector ban.

“Weapons are more dangerous, they are more vulnerable to misuse, and I do think in the state of Georgia we are going to have to figure out how we do this,” she continued.

However, the Democratic candidate, who previously co-sponsored a gun ban bill in Georgia’s House, stopped short of explaining how exactly her confiscation program would be enforced.

Her comments follow her statement on Sunday in which she said her gun control proposals may force some Georgians to “turn their guns in.”

American Politics is Now Just Civil War by Other Means

Those appealing for more civility and a return to polite discourse can save their breath. It’s much, much too late for that.

When Trump calls the establishment media the enemies of the people, that’s because they — together with their passive NPC drones and active Antifa enforcers — are enemies, if by “the people” we mean the historic American nation. Trump’s sin is that he calls them out for what they are.

Trump didn’t cause today’s polarization, he only exacerbates it because he punches back. Good, may he continue to do so. Pining for a more well-mannered time in a country that belongs to another, long-gone era is futile.

Americans Believe in Ghosts, Ancient Aliens and Atlantis, But Not Bigfoot, Study Finds

Americans are into freaky stuff.

At least when it comes to the unexplained and the supernatural, a new study from Chapman University revealed.

The vast majority of Americans believe in some kind of paranormal activity — nearly three in every four people, the study found. Most believe in more than one phenomenon.

Researchers identified seven different paranormal phenomenon and asked respondents whether they agreed with statements like “Places can be haunted by spirits” and “Aliens have visited Earth in our ancient past.”

The most common belief among Americans is that ancient, advanced civilizations — like the lost city of Atlantis — once existed. Ask two people if they believe in Atlantis, and at least one of them will probably say yes.

CIA’s ‘Surveillance State’ Is Operating Against US All

Maybe you once thought the CIA wasn’t supposed to spy on Americans here in the United States.

That concept is so yesteryear…

Over time, the CIA upper echelon has secretly developed all kinds of policy statements and legal rationales to justify routine, widespread surveillance on U.S. soil of citizens who aren’t suspected of terrorism or being a spy.

The latest outrage is found in newly declassified documents from 2014. They reveal the CIA not only intercepted emails of U.S. citizens but they were emails of the most sensitive kind — written to Congress and involving whistleblowers reporting alleged wrongdoing within the Intelligence Community.

The disclosures, kept secret until now, are two letters of “congressional notification” from the Intelligence Community inspector general at the time, Charles McCullough. He stated that during “routine counterintelligence monitoring of government computer systems,” the CIA collected emails between congressional staff and the CIA’s head of whistleblowing and source protection.

McCullough added that he was concerned about the CIA’s “potential compromise to whistleblower confidentiality and the consequent ‘chilling effect’that the present [counterintelligence] monitoring system might have on Intelligence Community whistleblowing.”

British politician and Brexit leader Nigel Farage has said that if U.S. President Donald Trump campaigns for reelection as hard as he did for Republican midterm candidates, he will win in 2020 “by a big margin.”

Speaking to Fox News’s Ed Henry on Wednesday morning, the former UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader said that the UK establishment media had been bombarding Britons with negative predictions for the Republicans’ performance in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Florida’s Richest Man Blasts America’s Wanna-be Socialists, Says “Soros is an Anarchist”

“Products like an iPhone, for example, could never happen in a socialist country,” he said.

When asked about Soros, Peterffy said he is an “enigma” and an “anarchist.”

‘Go, Donald, Go!’: Italy’s Salvini Congratulates Trump on Midterms

Good News for Constitutionalist Judges

Senate Republicans increased their seats in the midterm elections, which is good news for continuing to confirm constitutionalist judges. The so-called “blue wave” became a “blue puddle.”

The Senate has already confirmed 84 federal judges nominated by President Trump, which includes 53 trial judges, 29 appeals judges, and two Supreme Court justices. President Trump set a record for appeals court confirmations during the first year of his presidency, and this legacy will continue for many years. With more Republican seats in the Senate, President Trump has a green light to nominate scores of judges that have a constitutionalist judicial philosophy. This impact of reshaping the federal judiciary (including the Supreme Court) will last for decades.

Law-Abiding Gun Owner Killed During Red Flag Confiscation Raid

Gary Willis, a resident of Ferndale, Maryland, was awakened Monday morning at 5:17 a.m. when two officers from Anne Arundel County knocked on his door. A law-abiding gun owner, Willis answered the door “with a gun in his hand,” according to a police department spokesman. They were there to serve him with an “extreme risk protective order” and remove his legally owned firearms.

According to the spokesman, Willis put his firearm down to read the ERPO but then, apparently recognizing that it wasn’t a legal search warrant issued by a judge in accordance with protections guaranteed to him by the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, but instead was issued by a local judge under Maryland’s newly minted “red flag” law, he retrieved his firearm.

The spokesman said that Willis “became irate.” In the melee that followed, one of the firearms carried either by one of the officers or by Willis went off. One of the officers then pulled his own sidearm and shot Willis dead.

Family members told Capital Gazette reporters that a distant relative had requested the ERPO the day before, due to an “incident” that occurred at his residence. The details of the “incident” remain unclear at this writing, but the backpedaling by the police chief began almost immediately…

The point of the “red flag” laws, however, is to do an end run around that Fourth Amendment. As The New American noted back in March when “red flag” laws started popping up in a number of states in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida: “The ‘red flag’ provisions do not allow the person charged to defend himself or even to know who his accuser might be. Further, he must prove his innocence in order to get his confiscated firearms returned to him. He is “guilty until he proves himself innocent.”

ERPOs lower the standard in the Fourth Amendment — probable cause — to “reasonable cause.” They allow judges to act quickly (in Gary Willis’ case, overnight) before the victim gets wind of what’s coming and can secure legal counsel to defend himself or make other arrangements to protect himself and his property.

Newly Unsealed Documents Show Top FDIC Officials Running Operation Choke Point

Last week brought new revelations regarding Operation Choke Point, the Obama administration’s effort to freeze politically disfavored businesses out of the financial system. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.), who helped lead a multi-year effort to shut the program down, highlighted some of theses newest findings and pointed out that stopping Operation Choke Point is not a partisan issue.

Luetkemeyer’s legislation to prevent a redo of Choke Point — The Financial Institution Customer Protection Act of 2017 — overwhelmingly passed the House, with only two nay votes. Operation Choke Point was an egregious affront to the rule of law, so it is good to see that so many lawmakers want to prevent a repeat.

Newt Gingrich: The One Big Thing the Liberal Media Never Told You About Trump and the Midterms

The biggest change in this election was the sheer volume of money generated by left-wing billionaires and activist groups who hate President Trump.

In congressional race after congressional race, Republicans suddenly found millions of dollars poured in against them on a scale that resembled Senate races in the past.

House Republicans had hurt themselves by allowing the number of House incumbent retirees to become larger than any time since 1930, when the Brookings Institution started tracking congressional retirements. Breaking an 88-year record for retirees is a tough way to start an off-year election for the incumbent president’s party.

Despite this institutional disadvantage, President Trump’s House losses were far less than either the 54 seats President Clinton lost in 1994 or the 63 seats President Obama lost in 2010.

Measured against the Clinton and Obama standard, you would have to give President Trump an A+ for keeping Republican House losses to a minimum — and setting the stage for a Republican majority comeback in the 2020 presidential election.

Now That America Has Given the Crazies Control of the House, They Plan to Hit Trump With a Wave of Subpoenas

The United States of America is in an advanced state of decline, and we just got more evidence of that fact on Tuesday night This is a very dark moment in American history.

On November 6th, the American people gave the keys to the U.S. House of Representatives to the Democrats, and that means that the crazies will soon be unleashed on Capitol Hill. They won’t be able to get much legislation pushed through because Republicans still control the Senate and Donald Trump is still in the White House, but they will be able to cause all sorts of chaos with their investigative powers. If you thought that things were bad the last two years, just wait, because you haven’t seen anything yet. Top Democrats are already talking about hitting Trump with a huge wave of subpoenas, and the White House is bracing for the worst. It is going to be a time of bitter partisan wrangling in Washington, and meanwhile the nation as a whole is going to continue to fall apart.

In just a couple of months, Nancy Pelosi will be speaker of the House once again. That also means that if something suddenly happened to Donald Trump and Mike Pence, she would become the president of the United States.

Just the thought of that should chill you to the bone.

And of course Pelosi is just the tip of the iceberg. All of the powerful House committees will now be chaired by Pelosi’s crazy allies, and they plan to use those positions to hurt President Trump as much as possible.

Rep. Matt Shea Exposes Marxist and Islamist Counter States in US

In this exclusive interview with The New American, Representative Matt Shea exposed the emergence of Marxist and Islamist “counter states” in the United States. Both operations are working to bring down America, freedom, and Christian civilization. Rep. Shea, who leads the GOP Caucus in the Washington House of Represenatives, praised The New American as the “premier intelligence digest in America.” He even uses it in committee hearings to question witnesses, he said. Finally, the lawmaker and liberty movement leader called on Americans to reclaim their heritage as a Christian nation.

Suspect Accused of Plotting New U.S. Civil War

Planned to frame militia leaders with porn, tip off FBI, to spark bloody fight with feds

An Ohio Muslim man has been accused of plotting to spark a bloody civil war by provoking standoffs between American militia leaders and federal authorities, reports Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

“We pull something off like filling militia leaders computers and phones with child sexual abuse then tip the fbi,” said the suspect, according to a court filing uncovered by the Investigation Project on Terrorism.

“When the militias see their leaders are being arrested left and right, they’ll panic,” he continued. “Then we start off assassinations … soon militias will have standoffs with the feds which will turn bloody.”

The suspect is Naser Almadaoji, 19, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Iraq. IPT reported he was arrested at John Glenn International Airport in Columbus, Ohio. He was attempting to travel to Astana, Kazakhstan, “hoping then to be smuggled into Afghanistan to be trained by the ISIS affiliate.”

Vox’s Tech Magazine Urges Vote Against ‘Unhinged Despot’ Trump

Silicon Valley and the tech world are decidedly left-wing. But the echo chamber they’ve created carries over into tech journalism.

The executive editor of popular tech magazine The Verge is no different. On November 6, Dieter Bohn allowed his real feelings on the election to be made known on Twitter. He encouraged people to vote against President Trump, whom he classified as a dictator, even though Trump doesn’t stop him from tweeting his displeasure.

Bohn wrote, “Maybe you’ve been trying to ignore it, but remember: there’s a cruel, unhinged, uncaring, wannabe despot in the White House. He’s a stain on our country and today we can finally put a real check on his power. If you’re not voting to do that, you are implicitly endorsing him.”

Canada Among Highest Health-Care Spenders Yet Ranks Near Bottom on Number of Doctors, Hospital Beds and Wait Times

Despite spending more on health care than the majority of developed countries with universal coverage, Canada has a relatively short supply of doctors and hospital beds—and the longest wait times, finds a new study released today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan Canadian public policy think-tank.

“There is a clear imbalance between the high cost of Canada’s health-care system and the value Canadians receive,” said Bacchus Barua, associate director of health policy studies at the Fraser Institute and co-author of Comparing Performance of Universal Health Care Countries, 2018.

Canadian health-care system is generally worse than in the comparable countries

The study compares 28 universal health-care systems in developed countries, spotlighting several key areas including cost, availability and use of resources, access to care and treatment, clinical performance and quality, and the health of Canadians.

In 2016, the most recent year of comparable data, Canada’s health-care spending as a share of GDP (11 per cent) ranked fourth highest—after adjusting for age—behind only Switzerland, France and Norway.

But again, despite the high cost, availability and access to medical resources in the Canadian health-care system is generally worse than in the comparable countries.

Why This is a Very Scary Time for Young Men

When a recent Canadian study of about 30,000 students between 7th and 12th grade found that more boys than girls were victims of physical dating violence, the reaction was one of disbelief. Accusations of male sexual harassment were exploding from the university campuses to the boardrooms of Fortune 500 companies, begetting the #MeToo movement.

The most memorable perpetrators of sexual assault against women committed heinous acts: some women had been drugged and raped; others had been fired after they rebuffed an overt sexual assault. But many other acts were considered by both men and women to be normal fun and flirtation. During the media frenzy, abuse against men was never even reported as a footnote as men—good and bad—were accused and labeled as sexual predators.

In the past 38 years, more than 270 studies, with an aggregate sample size of more than 440,000, have found that “women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners” from teenage years on.

Asymmetrical Warfare and 4GW

The most direct way of discussing 4GW is to say that it describes any war between a state actor and a non-state actor…

Is fourth-generational warfare coming to the developed world? Quite possibly, especially when you consider the spectre of failed states in the West.

Many Western states are not quite as stable as they are made out to be. Sweden and France in particular have extensive problems with No Go Zones. Other parts of Europe want to secede, such as Catalonia in Spain, and are being violently suppressed from doing so.

Elsewhere around the world, previously first-world countries like South Africa are deteriorating in the span of a generation due to government mismanagement. The United States, for its part, is in what some have described as a “Cold Civil War,” with many futurists agreeing that the potential for outward civil war is greater than you’d like to think.

How might such a 4GW scenario play out in the West? There are two potential scenarios, one for Europe and one for the United States. Each of these is worth considering.

4GW: The European Model

For our purposes, we’re going to call this the “European Model” of 4GW. This is because this model is based on the political and social realities of life in Europe today. It is by no means the only place something like this could unfold, nor is it impossible that 4GW could unfold in an entirely different way in Europe.

4GW in Europe will likely be an outgrowth of No Go Zones and resulting failed states. Geographic areas within European nations will likely increase in size. And conflict will likely develop between the de facto areas of the No Go Zones, as well as more militant elements of the civilian population. While there is not much of a militia movement to speak of in Europe, in true 4GW fashion, people will find ways to improvise weapons out of what they have available to them.

It’s impossible to talk about this phenomenon in Europe without discussing the ethnic and religious character of the areas, as ethnic and ethno-religious conflict will likely be the infrastructure for such a war — especially since many of these areas have legal and social structures based on Islamic laws and customs.

In a scenario leading to a 4GW conflict in mainland Europe, attacks on civilians will escalate while the legitimate civilian authority is increasingly incapable of dealing with it. There will be both an inability and an unwillingness to maintain legal norms within larger and larger areas in Europe.

Next would come the formation of militias. The model here is close to what happened in Lebanon during its civil war. Militias will form around political, ethnic and religious lines. Some of these will be the No Go Zones attempting to consolidate their power. Others will be European civilians seeking to protect themselves and their neighborhoods from the growing power of the No Go Zones. This, in turn, will further fuel the breakdown in government control. Members of the government, both law enforcement and military, will increasingly pick sides in the conflict, leaving their allegiance to the rump state behind. In the end, this will make it more difficult for the state to assert its power.

Brexit: Less Poles Want to Leave for the UK

Study, down 16 percent compared to last year

(ANSA) — BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 7 — A new survey has revealed that only 3 percent of Polish citizens are currently interested to leave Poland to emigrate and work in the United Kingdom, the Polish radio has informed.

The survey, produced by the job agency Work Service, showed that the percentage of Poles interested in emigrating to the UK went down 16 percentage points in one year, down from 19 percent in 2017. According to the agency, the “impending withdrawal from the European Union has had a major impact” on the preferred migration destinations for Poles.

The study has confirmed Germany to be the top destination for work migration among Polish respondents. Germany was indicated as the most preferred destination by 23.3% of respondents (-9%), followed by Norway (15.6%) and Sweden (14.7%), which recorded a huge increase in preferences. “Sweden had never before been indicated by more than 5 percent of respondents in the history of research run by Work Service,” the company said, quoted by the Polish Radio.

Italy: TAP to be Completed in 2020 — SNAM’s Alverà

Gas will start arriving that year says CEO

(ANSA) — San Donato, November 7 — The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will be “completed during 2020… with the dispatch of the first gas,” Marco Alverà, the CEO of Italian gas infrastructure company SNAM, said on Wednesday. Connecting with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border, the TAP will cross Northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy, in Puglia, to connect to the Italian natural gas network.

SNAM has a 20% stake in the TAP.

The government recently announced it would not halt the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in Puglia, saying stopping the project would invoke huge penalties.

The 5-Star-Movement (M5S), which is in government with the League, had said it was against the TAP in the run-up to this year’s election.

“The project is more than 80% complete and work on the Italian section recently resumed,” Alverà said. “So we can confirm that the completion of project is forecast for 2020”.

Italy: Statute of Limitations Fundamental Battle for M5S — Di Maio

Tension within government over proposed overhaul

(ANSA) — Rome, November 7 — Deputy Premier and Labour and Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio said Wednesday that an overhaul of Italy’s statute of limitations to stop criminals getting off because cases time out was crucial for his 5-Star Movement (M5S). There has been tension within the government over proposals to overhaul the statute of limitations, which have reportedly been met with resistance from the M5S’s coalition partners in the League.

League leader, Interior Minister and Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini has said that, while a reform of the statute of limitations was needed, it is also necessary to ensure cases do not drag on forever. “Breakfast this morning with (Justice) Minister (Alfonso) Bonafede to asses the situation on the anti-corruption measures that will soon be debated in parliament,” Di Maio said via Instagram.

“Prison for the corrupt, bans from public office for the corrupt, statute of limitations after the first-instance verdict in criminal trials.

“The latter is a fundamental battle of ours for justice”.

Salvini on Wednesday ruled out the possibility that differences between his League party and the 5-Star Movement could lead to the government collapsing.

“The government is absolutely not at risk,” Salvini said. “One by one, it will maintain all the commitments made with the Italian people, full stop. Everything can be resolved with good sense and humility”.

Italy: Solve Points Tonight: No Vote in March Says Salvini

Will rule for five years to implement all campaign pledges

(ANSA) — Rome, November 7 — League leader Matteo Salvini said Wednesday outstanding points of contention with ally the 5-Star Movement (M5S) including statute of limitations reform would be worked out by Wednesday night and there was no chance of the government collapsing paving the way for a general election in March.

Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Salvini said Wednesday all points of contention with the M5S “will be resolved by tonight”. Asked about M5S leader Luigi Di Maio’s insistence on stopping the statute of limitations after first-instance trials, Salvini said “with (Premier Giuseppe) Conte and Di Maio we’ve been working well for five months, on justice we have to find the right way with humility and good sense.” He said this was “because it is right to punish the corrupt and the corrupters but trials have to have a beginning and an end”.

Salvini has previously said that he is open to some reform of the statute of limitations but “trials can’t be infinite, for the sake of the innocent as well as the guilty”.

On Wednesday he reiterated that he was in favour of “a reform but not the abolition of the statute of limitations”.

Salvini also squashed speculation there might be another general election in March because of intermittent and recently rising friction with the M5S.

“We’re not going to the polls in March,” he said.

“When I make a commitment with a party or the Italians I give my soul and blood to respect it. I’ve committed to cancelling the Fornero (pension reform), we’ve put 7 billion in, we’ll lower taxes, but I want to be here for five years because I can’t do everything at once. I won’t pull down the government just because the opinion polls say the League is the top party in Italy”.

A pension overhaul, ‘flat tax’ for the self-employed and a basic income for job seekers and the poor are key parts of the 2019 budget bill, which has been rejected by Brussels.

Swedish Left Pushing for Full Voting Rights for Foreign Citizens, Teenagers

If accepted, this step may give hundreds of thousands of immigrants and adolescents a say in Swedish politics.

A bill presented in the Swedish parliament by nine Left Party members proposes extending full voting rights to immigrants who lack Swedish citizenship. This step would allow them to vote in parliamentary elections, as well as referendums and even EU elections.

The Left Party argued that voting and choosing their representatives through elections is a fundamental right in a democracy. In the bill, the Left Party members argue that foreign-born residents of Sweden who currently lack Swedish citizenship should also be able to influence the governance of the constitutional monarchy. Enhanced voting rights, they argue, would give immigrants a “greater sense of participation, togetherness and increased self-esteem.”

The UK’s Muslim Rape Gangs and Maajid Nawaz’s Hypocrisy

The twisted world of the media’s go-to Muslim darling — and ex-terrorist self-promoter.

by Joshua Winston

The media’s go-to Muslim darling and ex-terrorist self-promoter, Maajid Nawaz, is currently having a Twitter spat with Lily Allen (that virtuous pop singer who has promised and failed to give a room to even one single asylum seeker in any of her several properties, in spite of breaking down in tears on TV at Calais and apologizing to the world on behalf of the UK).

Maajid is using the usual buzzwords that keep the cash flowing in his direction: “the regressive left,” “Muslim fundamentalists,” and then he ends their debate by stating that Lily is discrediting the work of the three million British Pakistanis who are trying to address and improve the situation of the over-representation of Pakistanis in grooming gangs in the UK. In reality, however, the entire Pakistani community knew, and still knows, about the rape of white British girls. They are a close-knit community. They would have seen gangs of girls hanging around kebab shops. At no point did anyone try on-street intervention. They would have heard their friends bragging about who and how many non-Muslim girls they had raped last night. They would have heard about the rape parties where non-Muslim girls were drugged and passed around the men to be raped. The wives, too, would have heard these conversations on the telephone, in the next room, or in the shops where their husbands work. The taxi drivers who shuttled the non-Muslims girls back and forth to houses and hotels to be raped were also aware of what was going on.

Contrary to Maajid’s claims, none of these three million Pakistani Muslims chose to speak up. A handful of Ahmadiyyas protested on the streets, and the UK media were in a frenzy to let us know that Muslims oppose violence and rape. The media, as usual, neglected to note that Ahmadiyyas are not considered by mainstream Sunni Muslims to be real Muslims. They are considered apostates, who have every chance of being beaten and killed, just the same as any other non-Muslim does. Literature in the Muslim Council of Britain and Kennington mosque declare this sect to be apostates, and essentially fair game.

I remember a radio conversation in which a Muslima was being interviewed and she said that the entire Pakistani communities knew and still know what is going on. She was so sickened and appalled by what her community was doing to non-Muslim girls that she took her infant child and fled, for her safety, and in order that she could speak about it, from the South to the North of England. What a brave soul. A single mother, on her own, running into poverty and uncertainty in order that she could do one single radio interview…

Labour has defended inviting a notorious Islamist preacher to appear at a party event, claiming that collaboration with “faith groups” is an “essential part of the fight against the scourge of racism”.

Shakeel Begg was listed as a speaker along with two of the party’s MPs, Janet Daby and Vicky Foxcroft at a Lewisham Labour Against Racism event Tuesday night, where activists discussed plans to “oppose Islamophobia and anti-Semitism”, “stop Tommy Robinson”, and to “challenge” government policies which make it harder for illegal immigrants to thrive in Britain.

An imam at the Lewisham Islamic Centre, which was attended by the terrorist killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby, Begg lost a libel case against the BBC in 2016 when a judge ruled he “clearly promotes and encourages violence in support of Islam and espouses a series of extremist Islamic positions”.

Unelected German Eurocrat: Trump is an ‘Autocrat’

European Union Commissioner Günther Oettinger — an unelected, appointed politician who enjoys unchallenged power over the 500 million people and 28 countries that make up the EU — attacked U.S. President Donald Trump, comparing him to “autocrats” ruling Turkey and Russia.

Speaking hours before the results for the U.S. midterms were due to roll in, German politician-turned Eurocrat Oettinger lent his voice to others including France’s increasingly ambitious — but ever less popular — Emmanuel Macron in casting the United States as an enemy of the European Union.

‘Very Dangerous’: Ex-UKIP Leader Lambasts Macron’s EU Army Proposal

The comments came a day after French President Emmanuel Macron called for creating a “real European army” in order to protect the residents of EU countries. He insisted that Europe should be defending itself in a “more sovereign way,” without depending “only on the United States.”

The creation of a European army would be a dangerous move and insult the United States, Nigel Farage, former leader of the right-wing populist UK Independence Party (UKIP), told the radio program LBC (Leading Britain’s Conversation).

Addressing Emmanuel Macron’s recent remarks about the necessity of a “real European army”, Farage argued that all this echoes comments by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, “who said not too long ago deference to NATO can no longer be used as a convenient alibi to argue against greater European efforts.”

Serbia: Ministry Forecasts Higher Growth in 2018,4.2%

Up from 3.5% previously estimated, in line with EBRD estimates

(ANSA) — BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 7 — The Serbian ministry of Finance said it has increased the country economic growth forecast to 4.2% in 2018 from the 3.5% previously estimated, the specialized portal SeeNews reported. The GDP growth in Serbia this year will be stronger due to “positive trends recorded in the first half of the year in the short-term macroeconomic indicators,” SeeNews said, quoting documents from the ministry of Finance.

The economic growth in Serbia is however expected to slow down to 3.5% in 2019. SeeNews noted.

The new forecast is in line with the one from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which recently said that Serbia will record a 4.2% growth in 2018 and 3.5% in 2019. The International Monetary Fund last month forecasted a 4.0% real economic growth in Serbia this year.

How Extremist Scholars Promote Terrorism, Violence

Prominent Muslim scholars continue to argue that the Quran and Prophet Mohammed do not incite intolerance or killing Christians and Jews. Many scholars, however, seem prepared to do their utmost to hide this “inconvenient truth.”

Take, for example, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Egypt’s preeminent Sunni university, who recently claimed that “there is no single verse in the Quran that calls for killing Jews or Christians.”

While it is true that the Quran does not specifically call for killing Christians and Jews, the Hadith — a record of the words, actions, and the silent approval of Prophet Mohammed — does refer to killing all Jews.

The Quran, however does refer to Christians and Jews as disbelievers, and calls on Muslims to fight and kill disbelievers.

Farrakhan, at a meeting with the secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council, Mohsen Rezaei, criticized the U.S. for imposing new sanctions on Iran, charging Washington is conspiring against the Islamic regime, reported the Algemeiner, citing the Iranian semi-official state news agency Mehr.

“I understand how the enemies have plotted against the Iranian people, and I would like to stay alongside you to stop their plots,” he said. Farrakhan said African Americans are in solidarity with Iran’s Islamic revolution.

How Saudi “Donations” To American Universities Whitewash Its Religion

Why would the center of illiberalism, religious fanaticism, and misogyny ever sponsor the center of liberalism, secularism, and gender equality?

This is the question that crops up when one considers the largesse that human-rights-abusing Saudi Arabia bestows on the leading universities — those putative bastions of progressive, free thinking — in the United States.

According to a recent report in the Daily Caller:

“… elite U.S. universities took more than half a billion dollars from the country [Saudi Arabia] and its affiliates between 2011 and 2017. Saudi Arabian interests paid $614 million to U.S. universities over a six-year period, more than every country but Qatar and the United Kingdom.”

China Infiltrates American Campuses

Beijing, in seeking influence on American college and university campuses, has been infringing on academic freedoms, violating American sovereignty, and breaking U.S. law. U.S. officials, neglecting their responsibilities to the American people, have allowed this injurious behavior to continue, in some instances for decades.

As an initial matter, some of this impermissible Chinese conduct is harmless, even amusing. As detailed by Anastasya Lloyd-Damnjanovic in a landmark study for the Wilson Center, Chinese officials in 2004 and 2007 threatened then Columbia University professor Robert Barnett, the prominent Tibet expert, that if he did not adopt a more favorable view of China’s policies they would — heavens! — stop speaking to him.

Hungary: New Direct Air Route From China Next Year

China Eastern will fly between Budapest and Shanghai

(ANSA) — BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 7 — The company China Eastern will launch a new direct air passenger route between Budapest and Shanghai next year, the Hungarian government has announced. China Eastern “is expected to fly four times-a-week between Budapest and Shanghai” from next summer, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said in a statement.

“China has become the country that sends the most tourists, and according to five-year forecasts, Chinese tourism to Europe will be increasing by 70 percent, in addition to which Chinese tourists spend the most”, Szijjarto noted.

Currently, there is only one direct flight from Hungary to China, connecting Budapest to Beijing.

The arrival of Chines tourists to Hungary “increased by 14 percent during the first eight months of this year, and according to forecasts more than 250 thousand tourists are expected to come to Hungary from China before the end of this year,” the minister noted, adding that the new route will further increase the numbers.

Japanese Island Completely Vanishes, Government Launches Search Party

If your car keys disappeared, it’s a fair bet that you’d tear your house apart trying to find them. Well, in 2014, Japan named 158 uninhabited islands off its coast to delineate the nation’s territorial waters, boundaries that have become increasingly contentious in recent decades. One of those 158 islands has up and vanished. The Japanese government has responded by initiating a search and rescue mission to locate the island that was seriously just there a second ago.

The Chinese Government Identifies Citizens by the Way They Walk

Communist Chinese authorities are using “gait recognition” technology to identify Chinese civilians by the way that they walk. The new technology uses body shapes and movement to identify people even when their face is not in the camera.

This dystopian big brother nightmare is quickly becoming a reality for the souls residing in the People’s Republic of China. Already used by police on the streets of Beijing and Shanghai, “gait recognition” is part of a push across China to develop artificial intelligence and data-driven surveillance that is raising concerns about how far the technology will go.

The software, built by a Chinese artificial intelligence company called Watrix, extracts a person’s silhouette from video and analyses the silhouette’s movement to create a model of the way the person walks. It can identify people from 50 meters away and requires no special camera to do so.

China is building a digital dictatorship to exert control over its 1.4 billion citizens. As if the “social credit” scoring system wasn’t terrifying enough, the country continues to cross the line with surveilling its own people.

“Gait analysis can’t be fooled by simply limping, walking with splayed feet or hunching over, because we’re analyzing all the features of an entire body,” said Watrix chief executive officer Huang Yongzhen. “You don’t need people’s cooperation for us to be able to recognize their identity,” Huang added.

Huang is a former researcher and quite obviously an authoritarian control freak who said he left academia after seeing how promising the technology had become. He then co-founded Watrix in 2016, and his company was incubated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Though the software isn’t as good as facial recognition, Huang said its 94 percent accuracy rate is good enough for commercial use.

1,642 “Scientists” Sign Letter Supporting Unscientific “Transgenderism”

Children generally can tell the difference between boys and girls by age three — then, apparently, some grow up, get a Ph.D., and are confused about it by age 30.

A good example is a letter signed by 1,642 “scientists” opposing a Trump administration proposal to define “sex” under Title IX as what it is: a binary quality.

The letter’s authors stumble right off the bat, opening with a complaint about, as they put it, “the current administration’s proposal to legally define gender as a binary condition determined at birth, based on genitalia, and with plans to clarify disputes using ‘genetic testing.’“

The problem? There doesn’t appear to be any Trump administration proposal to define “gender.” At issue is “sex,” the term used in the Title IX legislation, and this matters. For even if you accept the application of “gender” to people, it is not synonymous with “sex.”

As I pointed out last month:

Even psychologists advocating for “transgenderism” will typically define the two words thus: “In general terms, ‘sex’ refers to the biological differences between males and females, such as the genitalia and genetic differences,” explains Medical News Today. ‘‘‘Gender’ is more difficult to define, but it can refer to the role of a male or female in society, known as a gender role, or an individual’s concept of themselves, or gender identity.”

In a nutshell, “sex” is a biological phenomenon; “gender” is a social or psychological one.

That the letter’s authors would misunderstand, or misrepresent, the Trump administration proposal speaks volumes about their lack of scholarship, of honestly, or both. As I explained last month in-depth, Title IX bans “sex discrimination” in educational programs receiving federal funds. Its crafters wrote nothing about “gender,” a term that was used mainly in reference to word categories when the legislation became law in 1972. And forget the “transgender” agenda — the term itself didn’t even exist back then.

So the letter’s signatories don’t appear to understand law. But is their grasp of the science in question here any better?

Appeals to authority are common; “1,600 scientists say” impresses many. But in the United States there are approximately 21.1 million people with a bachelor’s or higher degree in science or engineering, 2.4 million boasting life-sciences degrees, and one million with Ph.D.s in such fields. So even if we use the last figure, 1,642 scientists would constitute less than 0.16 percent of the total.

Yet not all the letter’s signatories hold Ph.D.s, as many are students. Some also aren’t exactly what most people think of as “scientists,” and others certainly are not. For example:

Intel Chips Smashed by Portsmash

New exploits take advantage of side-channel Simultaneous multithreading capabilities.

Intel and AMD are not getting any breaks from chip-level vulnerabilities. A team of researchers from the Tampere University of Technology (Finland) and Technical University of Havana (Cuba) has found a new vulnerability in Intel processors. Dubbed PortSmash (CVE-2018-5407), the exploit allows an attacker to steal sensitive data, including passwords and cryptographic keys.

This time the exploit is found in a side-channel in Intel’s hyperthreading technology. Simultaneous multithreading (SMT) is used for improving the efficiency of CPUs with hardware multithreading.

The exploit affects two of the most popular Intel platforms, Kaby Lake and Skylake, which power most modern PCs, including laptops, desktops, and servers. All of these devices are vulnerable to attacks.

In a security advisory, Red Hat said, “This is a flaw in the Intel processor execution engine sharing on SMT (e.g., Hyper-Threading) architectures. It can result in leakage of secret data in applications such as OpenSSL that has secret dependent control flow at any granularity level. In order to exploit this flaw, the attacker needs to run a malicious process on the same core of the processor as the victim process.”

Scientists Mock New UN Climate Report Seeking “Unprecedented Changes” To Society

The latest UN IPCC report, released on October 8, demands “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society” if the world hopes to avoid the wrath of the climate gods over its carbon dioxide-emission sins. In fact, by 2030, according to the UN “Special Report 15” (SR15), the planet may become 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than “pre-industrial levels.” And that could lead to disasters of biblical proportions, the UN warned, without noting that the world has been warmer than that at many points in its history — and it was quite pleasant. “One of the key messages that comes out very strongly from this report is that we are already seeing the consequences of 1 degree C of global warming,” claimed Communist Chinese “scientist” Panmao Zhai, co-chair of the UN IPCC Working Group I.

The “solution,” though, is simple: Give the UN and its more oppressive member regimes much more money and power. A “carbon tax” of $5,500 per ton of carbon by 2030, and $27,000 per ton 2100, should help, the UN said, demanding trillions in new annual spending. (To put this in perspective, this would be equivalent to $49 and up to $240 of taxes for every gallon of gasoline burned! ) And, you’ll have to give up much more of your freedom, of course. Interestingly, those were the same basic solutions offered to deal with the global-cooling hysteria of decades ago — that and “melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot,” as Newsweek put it, citing climate “experts,” in an April 28, 1975, article. More recently, prophets of climate doom such as Al Gore have repeatedly warned that “global warming” was going to melt the Arctic ice cap within some number of years. And just as the global-cooling theorists of yesteryear, they have been consistently and spectacularly wrong about that, and virtually everything else.

But this time, it did not take long for serious scientists and experts to debunk the latest round of UN fear-mongering in SR15. One of the many groups of scientists to speak out was the Canada-based non-profit organization known as Friends of Science. In a report headlined “Faulty Premises = Poor Public Policy on Climate,” the group systematically dismantled the claims and demands made by the UN in its report. Indeed, the organization, which brings together earth, atmospheric, and solar scientists as well as engineers, argued that the public is being “misled.” After reviewing the literature and evidence, the group concluded that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not CO2 as claimed by the UN.

Among other concerns with the UN IPCC SR15 report, the experts noted that all of the climate models used by the IPCC run “too hot” versus the real-world observations.

  1. “Communist Chinese authorities are using “gait recognition” technology to identify Chinese civilians by the way that they walk. The new technology uses body shapes and movement to identify people even when their face is not in the camera.”

George Orwell would have wished he dreamed up this one. But more evidence of the “Big Brother” aspirations of the CCP. The most controlled and monitored population on earth.

    • From China at times disgusting news comes. If the “Chinese mandarins” become world hegemones, they will differ little from the Islamic caliphate.
      I recently read this news:

Managers of a Chinese company were forced to drink urine and eat cockroaches.

Employees of the company could not stand it and complained to law enforcement agencies. People flogged at all and forced to drink urine. And this is not a complete list of the bullying of the employer, who felt like a king.

  2. Further to the Melbourne Australia knife attack.
This article although claiming the Somali was a “lone wolf”, he was actually a “known wolf”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6370669/Car-smashes-Melbournes-Bourke-Street-Mall-bursts-flames.html A knife-wielding Somali terrorist has been shot dead by police after crashing a car on Melbourne’s Bourke Street and setting it on fire, before stabbing three shoppers, killing one.

The lone wolf attacker, who a witness claimed was yelling ‘Allahu akbar’ and is known to counter-terrorism agencies , was then rushed to hospital in a critical condition but later died from his wounds.

Officers shot him in the chest after his Holden Rodeo loaded with gas cylinders hit a pedestrian as it mounted the kerb and exploded outside Target near the Swanson Street intersection about 4.20pm on Friday.

Another “known wolf” , probably a peaceful and kindly gentleman from a mosque who would not harm a fly. 🙂

  3. Socialist Superstar Ocasio-Cortez Elected to Congress

I keep chuckling to myself at the thought of Occasional Cortex in the House for the next two years. It was always going to be a DEM seat anyway but having this one’s bottom occupying it is going to be a joy to behold and the entertainment value every time she speaks is going to exceed even Hollywood’s wildest dreams. I await her maiden dissertation and subsequent contributions with eager anticipation and my acidic pen at the ready.

  4. Not sure if this news was already posted on here, but a 98-years-old war veteran was robbed in his house in North London. His caregiver found him on Monday morning brutally beaten on his bedroom’s floor, unable to speak. He suffered severe injuries, among them an intracerebral hemorrhage, and is currently fighting for his life in a hospital. Stolen were some minor valuables and an old TV worth £20. As of now, so far our media reported, there are no leads to the perpetrators, but I imagine we all know whose signature cases like this are.

  5. From the “1,642 “Scientists” Sign Letter Supporting Unscientific “Transgenderism”” article: “There is no genetic or blood-chemistry test, no brain scan — no medical test of any kind — to prove that my GD is anything but a psychological phenomenon, a delusion.”
This is incorrect. While the article otherwise is well written and I agree with what it says, this particular sentence is wrong. There have been studies that clearly showed male activity paterns in the brains of female-to-male patients and female activity patterns in the brains of male-to-female patients. There’s also a small portion of transsexual patients that indeed have the chromosomes of the gender they identify with (or a rare combination of XXY, etc.).
In other words, transsexuality could be easily confirmed by biological matters in a potential patient.
I imagine the overal improvement of a transsexual person’s life once they start their transition should also be proof enough that it’s not just some kind of delusion. It’s probably a similar feeling to feeling discomfort in your palm for a few days and then finding a splinter in it and feeling a big sense of relief once you remove it – and nobody’s gonna tell you you’re just imagining the discomfort or being too sensitive, right? Even though you could just suck it up and continue your life with the splinter still inside, why would you when you can live more comfortably by removing it?
Anyway, because working with biological facts doesn’t fit the political agenda behind the transgender movement (and most definitely doesn’t in any way support snowflakes), nobody is going to cite those studies or request that kind of testing.
