  1. Turkey guarantee the right of free speech for all citizens? Tell me another one.

    Turkey will be Turkey. The real disharmony here is that Turkey is not only bound in alliance with NATO and the US, but that the US is pledged to defend Turkey. Turkish interests and those of the US have almost no overlap. If Turkey gets into conflict with Russia, it won’t exactly be in our interest, but won’t be radically against our interests either. The US has no more business intervening in a Russia-Turkey dispute than with a Ukraine-Russia dispute.
