Getting Jumpy for Macron in Marseille

In this very peculiar video from Marseille, a group of young people are induced to jump up and down like kindergarteners, first for Marseille and then for their president, Emmanuel “Toy Boy” Macron.

Many thanks to Ava Lon for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

Video transcript:

00:00   In Marseille we have that thingy. You know, it’s… I don’t know any more how it goes…
00:04   “Whoever isn’t jumping [up and down] isn’t from Marseille.”
00:08   So I suggest you stand up and we’ll do it together!
00:12   Let’s go! Whoever isn’t jumping isn’t
00:16   from Marseille! OK? Whoever isn’t jumping isn’t from Marseille!
00:20   Whoa! Whoever isn’t jumping isn’t from Marseille!
00:24   Keep going!
00:28   And I’ll suggest another one:
00:32   “Whoever isn’t jumping isn’t… Macron!”
00:36   “Whoever isn’t jumping isn’t… —Macron! Ladies and gentlemen, wait for the cheering
00:40   in the name of Emmanuel Macron!

  1. Ooh, isn’t that fun, kiddies!
What shall we play next? Pass the parcel with the grenade in it?

  2. I’m surprised that most British people don’t want closer political union with this sort of thing…

  3. Its a sports fans thing. In the Czech Republic we shout “Who isn’t jumping isn’t Czech!”. I suspect that this was some sort of crowd guiding to make nice videos for the elections – though “who isn’t jumping isn’t Macron” seems really stupid, given Macron is only a man, not a sports fan group.
