Another Freedom of Speech “Issue”

Had you heard about the Atlanta brouhaha? I hadn’t either.

Here’s Dr. Turley’s take on the pushback against leftist activism’s bully pulpit.

The times they are a changin’. One hopes that the coming shift is both rapid and fundamental. While it takes a great deal of ruination to destroy a culture the ever-more-radical left has had two generations now to dismantle things. It was their uglification of everything that drove people away.

The mistake the left makes is believing it can never be wrong.

Well, that’s one of its miscalculations…the learning curve back to Reality is a steep climb. For example, that Atlanta mayor is going to have to run for re-election eventually and he may have a huge municipal insurance premium hanging like an albatross around his neck. Municipal insurance carriers don’t care about politics – for them, it’s all about the bottom line. If Atlanta has to go to the Supreme Court, the fiscal blood will flow as tax rates go up.

    • That wiki is well-written and extensive. Thomson’s baronial name was derived from the River Kelvin in Glasgow, where he lived and worked.

Paul Johnson’s book on the birth of modern times discusses the amazing phenomenon of the prodigious numbers of engineers, mathematicians, etc., that arose with Thomson’s cohort; we have not seen their like again.

I often wonder what happened in the degeneration of our universities that such men are not found in equal numbers today – and they *are* men for the most part. (An outlier like Madame Curie remains that, an outlier, who finds a way to create her own path.) It is obvious that Thomson’s father had much to do with building the foundation and environment for Sir Kelvin’s work…

  1. I don’t know about that. What I do know is that the shift of the SC will stop the Dems legislating from the bench. Some little pipsqueak from Hawaii will stop the nonsense because he will be overruled.
This has been a travesty and, from what I read over ten times, the President has “plenary powers” to dictate immigration.

  2. They fired the fire chief for what is seen as bigotry against gays , why dont they fire the Mayor for bigotry against christians .
Whats good for the goose is good for the gander
