Rendezvous in Chemnitz

There were more protests today in the German city of Chemnitz. I saw a live-stream while they were happening, but I don’t have any new material from them — these subtitled videos are from yesterday.

The first video is a typical leftist PC TV news presentation on what’s happening in Chemnitz. The presenter is at pains to emphasize the “neo-Nazi” nature of the demonstrations, plainly hoping to shame ordinary German citizens into avoiding them. If Chemnitz is like the EDL demos in Britain six or eight years ago, those sieg-heiling people are government plants, inserted among the demonstrators to provide useful snapshots and footage like the ones shown here.

The second video is a call by a “German” culture-enricher, summoning migrants from all over the country to come to Chemnitz and make their presence felt. If his fellow enrichers heed his summons, this could be the first simmering wave of what may later become a fully boiling civil war. Or it may fizzle out without any significant confrontation — we’ll see.

Many thanks to Miss Piggy for the translations, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling.

Video transcript #1:

00:00   Welcome to the Midday News Magazine. In Chemnitz, the third largest city in Saxony,
00:05   this past weekend there was — well, let’s just say it how it was — a mob of right-wing
00:09   radicals chased foreigners through the city, insulting them, following a stabbing
00:13   that took place the night before allegedly by an Iraqi and a Syrian.
00:17   Of course, those who were being chased through the city did not have anything to do
00:21   with the stabbing. But the murder was such an good opportunity to enhance the mood.
00:25   Yesterday, the right-wing coalition called Pro-Chemnitz called once again
00:30   for a funeral march, which several thousand people attended. More than
00:34   the police had expected. It wasn’t long until there were clashes.
00:38   The officers stood between the demonstrators and the participants
00:42   of a much smaller counter-protest. The police arrested several people.
00:46   Among those arrested were demonstrators doing the Hitler salute.
00:50   Obviously, there is fear and uncertainty in Chemnitz because of immigration,
00:54   despite the fact that not many immigrants live there.
00:58   Let’s hear from participants in this funeral march and what they have to say.
01:02   Every night there is trouble here, groups meeting each other. I would not say
01:06   that they are only foreigners — there are enough who provoke here
01:10   every night, when you want to go out — you don’t go in the city
01:14   without the fear of having something happen. —The problem is not on this stabbing alone,
01:19   the problem is that someone wasn’t deported who should have been.
01:23   There are bigger problems. —I am dissatisfied, yes. You could say that.
01:28   With the conditions here. —What conditions? —The situation that our government
01:35   can no longer protect us. It’s simple. You saw it here, too.
01:39   A doctor is stabbed, here is another person was stabbed, girls are stabbed,
01:44   women are stabbed walking in the streets in Leipzig. What should we do
01:48   with a government that can no longer protect its citizens?
01:52   Opinions from three participants that the Pro-Chemnitz attracted.
01:56   Citizens who no longer feel protected by the state. That’s hard to swallow.
02:02   It is alarming as it is frightening. What is shocking is that those calling for more security
02:07   are standing side by side with those who threaten and hurt others based simply
02:11   on how they look. There is a word we are left with following these chaotic days
02:15   in Chemnitz, and it a word that actually unites everyone — FEAR.
02:19   Being afraid of not being safe in one’s own city,
02:23   or being afraid that the racists will shout loudest in the end.
02:28   Chemnitz this morning is a city between grief and anger. Events of recent days
02:33   do not leave anyone cold.
02:37   I cannot agree with what happened here yesterday, and not all of those were
02:41   citizens of Chemnitz, you know? And now the entire city is being
02:45   Dragged through the dirt. —I think its good when people go out
02:49   on the street and to show that it can not go on like this. —It’s not right,
02:53   the violence, we can not solve the problems like that — but the problems
02:57   have to be solved. On another level, but they must finally be solved.
03:01   Last night in Chemnitz firecrackers and water-throwers characterised the city.
03:05   Several thousands of people gathered again for protests. The mood is
03:09   aggressive, shouts of hate are heard, people are injured by firecrackers
03:13   and bottle-throwing. Supporters of the right-wing populist citizens’ movement
03:17   Pro-Chemnitz and left-wing gangs keep the police on their toes.
03:21   The few hundred officers have difficulty keeping camps separated.
03:27   “Nazis get out, Nazis get out, Nazis out”
03:34   Among the demonstrators for the Alliance Chemnitz Nazi Frei
03:38   is Ziya Mahmudi from Afghanistan. He was attacked by right wing radicals
03:42   on the street on Sunday. —I ran away and yes, I noticed that, a man came to me
03:50   or several men, I did not pay much attention how many men were there,
03:55   he shouted — “Why are you here?” My brother, he told me, “He wants to kill you!”
04:04   Although still fearful, he has come to send a signal against right-wing extremism.
04:09   it’s going to be quiet in Chemnitz today,
04:13   but groups have announced other demonstrations in Dresden.

Video transcript #2:

00:00   If the government can’t protect us, then we have to protect ourselves,
00:05   and we have to organize. Especially the migrants, the ones I am talking to now.
00:09   The migrants should finally start to unite, organize transportation [buses], set a date,
00:18   and by the thousands make their way to Chemnitz
00:22   to show them there that WE ARE Germany. And that we belong to Germany.
00:29   And don’t just sit back and watch how our fellow citizens, how our migrants
00:35   how our brother and sisters, how our friends
00:39   are chased through the streets. Especially us, the older generation of migrants
00:43   that contributed so much to this country’s prosperity.
00:47   We should lead by example. We migrants always expect society
00:51   to help us. We expect the government to help us.
00:55   We expect the police to help us. We expect the politicians to help us.
00:59   But these expectations are false. Whoever expects that shoots himself in the leg.
01:08   We can’t expect this society to fix this for us, the people.
01:12   The most important thing is that we oppose these NAZIS
01:19   and not let them rule the streets, and to protect our brothers and sisters in Chemnitz,
01:24   in Dresden, in all of Saxony. You must come from everywhere.
01:29   Come from Hessen, from North-Rhine Westphalia, from Berlin, from Hamburg,
01:35   from Bremen, from every German state. From Baden-Wuerttemberg,
01:39   from Baden-Baden, from Bavaria — it doesn’t matter. You have to
01:45   come from all across Germany. We need to show that WE ARE real anti-racists.
01:49   We are the ones who are gonna show those NAZIS the middle finger. That we are the ones
01:53   to show those NAZIS what unity looks like,
01:56   because if the government won’t stand by our side and can’t help us,
02:00   then you need to help yourselves. Get organized. Turks, Arabs, Albanians.
02:04   Everyone! Doesn’t matter where you come from, from Brazil, Cubans,
02:12   southerners, Italians, Europeans. Everyone. Doesn’t matter from where.
02:16   Unite together against…

10 thoughts on “Rendezvous in Chemnitz

  1. In the late 80’s I studied in Moscow. There were a lot of foreign tourists in the city and it was interesting to watch them: they had completely different faces than ours, they spoke loudly and laughed. As they explained to me, they were simply freer.

A year after the events in Cologne, I watched one interview where German women on the railway station square were asked about their plans for another celebration of the new year. The women looked away and said that they were going to visit.
I recognized these depressed people – they are so similar to the faces of my fellow citizens from the distant 80’s.

  2. “the murder was such a good opportunity to enhance the mood”.

How sick do you have to be to cook up such a sentence in your mind?

  3. Well, it’s a well-written speech. Mirrors the European context by projection, one might say. One already hears it spoken from the other side:

“If the government can’t protect us, then we have to protect ourselves, and we have to organize. Especially the indigenous peoples of Europe, the ones I am talking to now. The Germans should finally start to unite, organize transportation [buses], set a date, and by the thousands make their way to Chemnitz to show them there that WE ARE Germany. And that Germany belongs to us.
And don’t just sit back and watch how our fellow citizens, how our grandparents and parents, how our brothers and sisters and children, how our friends are chased through the streets and gang raped, beaten or stabbed to death.
Especially us, the older generation that contributed so much to this country’s prosperity. We should lead by example. We always expect society to help us. We expect the government to help us. We expect the police to help us. We expect the politicians to help us.
But these expectations are false. Whoever expects that shoots himself in the leg.
We can’t expect this society to fix this for us, the people.
The most important thing is that we oppose these Jihadis and not let them rule the streets, and to protect our brothers and sisters in Chemnitz, in Dresden, in all of Saxony. You must come from everywhere. Come from Hessen, from North-Rhine Westphalia, from Berlin, from Hamburg, from Bremen, from every German state. From Baden-Wuerttemberg, from Baden-Baden, from Bavaria — it doesn’t matter. You have to
come from all across Germany. We need to show that WE ARE the real anti-racists.
We are the ones who are gonna show those Jihadis the middle finger. That we are the ones to show those Islamofascists what unity looks like, because if the government won’t stand by our side and can’t help us, then you need to help yourselves. Get organized. Europeans, Turks, Arabs, Albanians. Everyone! Doesn’t matter where you come from, from Brazil, Cubans, southerners, Italians, Europeans. Everyone. Doesn’t matter from where.
    Unite together against Jihad.”

  4. I stopped watching the first video when the newscaster said, falsely, that several in the crowd were showing Nazi salute. The video clearly shows that there were fists in the air and one or two fingers in the air, but not the Nazi salute with the entire hand rigid. This was outright falsifying a story for ideological purposes.

  5. Bring it on. The longer we wait, the harder it will be.

Some people in Germany want MORE immigration, but such a wish is very clearly contrary to all the actual evidence.

  6. #2 , sec. 00.39 ” contributed much to the prosperity” , well, when they came Germany had already been rebuilt and was a leading nation economically.
So I wonder – without downsizing honestly working people- in howfar an unskilled hand in a factory or a mam and pap tailoring salon can contribute to a propspering nation. And mind you, I have a friend whose parents immigrated in the sixties, whose children all went to college successfully and are good citizens. But with four kids and being selfemployed at a low level, the man never paid any taxes and still enjoyes full medical coverage.

  7. # 2 , 00.09: organize transportation and set a date? I can’t wait and would readily help giving directions. Buses? Why do I think of a lesser category of transportation here I dare not mention?
2.04: Cubans should follow the call of muslims? The victim was of cuban descent. And Brazilians ? Is this guy mad? We know what the devastating effects of some cuba- libres or caipirinhas can be on muslims.

  8. The people showing the Nazi salute may very well be governments plants, but they might also be real. One has to remember that these demonstrations actually came from the right wing. As such they will always attract some idiots who cannot help themselves and simply must show the Nazi salute. In this case 10 amongst 5000 participants of the demonstrations. Whether they are real Nazis or just drunken morons, who knows?

The important point for me is that the manhunts, or whatever the right word in English for the alleged chasing of migrants through the streets of Chemnitz may be, largely seem to be an invention of mainstream media. As far as I know, the only proof so far being presented is a very short video, only a few seconds really, showing one or two men running after some others over a few yards on a street. Then they stop and nothing happens. Some bystanders yell at the running migrants, things like “go away” or “you’re not welcome here” and a woman is heard saying “Hase, du bleibst hier” (“Sweetheart, you stay” – which “Hase” apparently does) to her husband or boyfriend.

In other words, there are no real threats or anything. If I didn’t miss anything, not even the young Afghan in the news report says that he was seriously harmed.

    • The first time I saw a video of a demonstrating crowd with their hands raised I was taken aback. When I looked more closely, I could see they were all holding phones.

I’ll never believe the “Nazi” spin. It’s too convenient for the Left, who have deliberately distanced themselves from their socialist, Hitler, and shoved him over to the Right, where he doesn’t belong. The Right has its own authoritarian leaders; Hitler wasn’t one.
