15 Years in Prison for Would-be ISIS Terrorist From Modesto Who Plotted Pier 39 Bombing

FRESNO — A Modesto man was sentenced Monday to 15 years in federal prison for plotting a Christmas terrorist attack at San Francisco’s popular Pier 39 on behalf of ISIS, although the FBI thwarted the plan last year before it could happen.

Everitt Aaron Jameson, 27, a former U.S. Marine, had pleaded guilty June 4 to attempting to provide support and resources to ISIS. He was arrested Dec. 20.

As Illinois Celebrates ‘Barack Obama Day,’ 73 Wounded in Chicago Gun Violence

President Barack Obama celebrated his birthday on Saturday, August 4, and for the first time, Illinois marked the date to honor the former president. This weekend, however, also marked a surge of gun violence in Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago.

Eleven people have died and 73 have been wounded, but most of the violence occurred on Sunday, according to NBC Chicago. In a span of seven hours starting around midnight on Saturday, at least 40 people were shot — four fatally.

ABC 7 Chicago has been updating its story on the violence throughout the weekend, and previously reported, according to The Daily Wire, that 63 people had been shot since Friday at 5 p.m.

As the Press Turns: Democracy Dies in Dimwittedness

Since nobody else takes The Washington Post seriously anymore, the newspaper of record for The Swamp has had to pick up the slack and take itself even more seriously.

The (com) Post has become consumed by hatred of President Trump, its reporting having turned so distorted and delusional that the paper can no longer separate just the facts from “fake news.”

No longer pretending to be fair or unbiased, the (com) Post has lustily joined the zany campaign to destroy the president and portray his administration as some kind of criminal enterprise. The (com) Post should change its name to “The Gaslight Gazette.” Instead, the paper came up with a new slogan for their rabidly anti-Trump coverage.

“Democracy Dies in Darkness.” It is not clear where the “darkness” comes since the Trump administration is nothing short of a constant supernova of news.

Perhaps, “darkness” is a funny reference to their own deluded stupidity. “Democracy Dies in Dimwittedness” would be a better slogan.

But still, the (com) Post is giving itself far too much credit. Honestly, Democracy does not really give a crap what the (com) Post has to say about anything. Democracy canceled its subscription to the (com) Post long ago.

President Trump, meanwhile, cannot help himself but to tangle with the dimwits.

“Enemy of the People!” he declares. This, of course, draws unbridled hysterics from the media, clinging wildly to their own delusions of grandeur.

Nobody has come to pieces more spectacularly than Jim Acosta of CNN, the formerly admired global news network now presidentially derided as “fake news.”

Mr. Acosta, formerly an adult reporter who now plays a clueless whiney child on daytime television, got flipped off and yelled at during a recent Trump rally and came unglued. The next day Mr. Acosta turned the globally televised White House press briefing into his own personal therapy session.

After White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered a poised, thoughtful and balanced critique of the press, Mr. Acosta went into full-blown therapy meltdown.

“I think it would be a good thing if you were to say right here at this briefing that the press, the people who are gathered in this room right now, are doing their jobs every day,” he squealed with overwrought (and ridiculously undeserved) righteous indignation. “I — I — I think we deserve that!”

With kindness, yet the understandable firmness of Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” Mrs. Sanders replied calmly: “I appreciate your passion.”

Oh, As the Press Turns!

As sad a spectacle as Mr. Acosta has become, perhaps no one in the press is as harebrained and hyperventilating as Bret Stephens, who left a legitimate paper to join The New York Times so that he could become part of the unflinching Never Trump media.

Mr. Stephens recently wrote a column making the spectacular leap from Mr. Trump’s legitimate criticisms of the press — to all-out bloodshed in the streets.

The column is subtly titled: “Trump Will Have Blood on His Hands.”

Seriously? How does a loser like this live with himself? He is literally begging for someone to get killed so that he can blame Mr. Trump for murder, which is about the only thing they haven’t already blamed him for.

It would be more shocking except that Mr. Stephens works for the same racist outfit that just last week hired an openly bigoted writer to help Mr. Stephens think through the issues of the day and write editorials about them for the paper.

“Are white people genetically predisposed to burn faster in the sun, thus logically being only fit to live underground like groveling goblins?” opined Sarah Jeong before The New York Times snapped her up.

Other gems of insight from Ms. Jeong: “Oh man it’s kind of sick how much joy I get out of being cruel to old white men.” “White people have stopped breeding. You’ll all go extinct soon. This was my plan all along.”…

Caroline Glick: Never Trump’s Insane Foreign Policy

George Orwell once quipped, referring to a conspiracy theory that American soldiers had been brought to England in World War II to put down a working-class rebellion rather than to fight Nazi Germany: “One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool.”

His insight is certainly valid in connection to the “Never Trump” intellectuals today.

Case in point is a recent article published by Never Trump super-intellectual, the Brookings Institute’s Robert Kagan.

Earlier in the summer, Kagan wrote an oped in the Washington Post where he laid out his best case against President Donald Trump’s foreign policy.

Not to put too sharp a point on things: It was unhinged.

Titled “Trump’s America does not care,” Kagan made a contention that was wrong and then made two additional assertions which were also wrong — and which, even worse, contradicted one another.

Kagan’s basic contention was that Trump has transformed the United States from a moral actor and a great power into an immoral actor and a “rogue power.”

Trump did this, apparently, by committing the unpardonable offense of basing his foreign policy on U.S. interests.

It used to be that outside the confines of a marginal groups of Communists and their fellow travelers, no one in Washington would ever argue that it is immoral for the United States to use its foreign policy to advance its national interests.

But at a time when Trump Derangement Syndrome spreads like the plague through intellectual circles, Kagan wrote that under Trump, the “United States [behaves like a] rogue superpower, neither isolationist nor internationalist, neither withdrawing nor in decline, but active, powerful and entirely out for itself.”…

According to Pew International polls, Trump is now intensely disliked in Europe. His endless spats over European trade, the costs of NATO, and differing approaches to Vladimir Putin’s Russia acerbated already tense U.S.—European relations. But Trump neither created European or transatlantic crises nor can be of much help in solving them. In part, they are Western in origin and to a degree shared by all Western allies, but mostly they are innate to Europe and self-induced.

The US, Italy, And International Trade

It is not farfetched to think that Italy’s “government of change” will try to break the euro and leave the monetary union. Such a move would likely cause a domino effect on the whole structure of the euro, which could collapse without the presence of its third-largest economy.

Contrary to what the leadership of countries such as Germany seem to believe, there is life outside the EU and the euro, and Italy would be happy to reestablish profitable trade agreements directly with the US. One would hope that Trump realizes this and will take advantage of the opportunity.

China Tests Its Hypersonic Wave Rider Aircraft

Chinese engineers say they have tested an aircraft based on sonic wave-riding technology and able to carry multiple nuclear warheads, which can elude all anti-missile defense systems now in use world-wide.

China’s new aircraft is loosely based on the first wave-rider, the United State’s B-70 deep-penetration strategic bomber, or Valkyrie, which was grounded for good in the 1960s.

The six-engined, delta-wing US hypersonic aircraft was designed to cruise at Mach 3+, 21,000 meters above ground, meaning it was almost impossible to intercept using aircraft or missiles. However, the ill-fated Valkyrie made a wobbly start and a string of accidents and shifts in the US-Soviet Union arms rivalry led to the program’s cancellation.

Now a Chinese version of the nuclear warhead capable wave-rider aircraft, called Xingkong, or Starry Sky, has been developed by the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics under the state-owned conglomerate China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. It was tested last Friday from an undisclosed launch site in the wilderness of northwestern China.

And what I learned from this was troubling. While I’m sure there are many excellent historians around, I found that the historians I interacted with not only tended to reason backwards from their political priors, but that their standards of how one makes an appropriate inference from existing evidence are such that they would be laughed out of any decent philosophy or law school academic workshop.

UCLA Makes Students Pay Classmates to Promote “Social Justice”

Authored by Toni Airaksinen via Campus Reform

The University of California-Los Angeles has hired 18 students at $13 per hour to combat “social injustices” and “privilege and oppression” following a semester-long recruitment campaign.

Hosted by the UCLA Intergroup Relations Program, the Diversity Peer Leaders project is a year-long internship during which students facilitate workshops on social justice issues in exchange for leadership training and compensation from UCLA.

Astronomers Detect Giant Rogue Planet Floating Near Our Solar System

Using a radio telescope, scientists have detected what could be a huge planet nudging our solar system. About 12 times as massive as Jupiter, this rogue celestial body is floating through space without its own host star.

What’s more, the observations shed light on the object’s powerful magnetic field and the glowing auroras it produces. Scientists reported their research in The Astrophysical Journal.

Astronomers think the mysterious, 200-million-year-old free-floating object is cruising just 20 light-years from Earth. It’s pretty hot, with a surface temperature of more than 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s known as SIMP J01365663+0933473—or SIMP for short.

  1. ‘Using a radio telescope, scientists have detected what could be a huge planet nudging our solar system.
Astronomers think the mysterious, 200-million-year-old free-floating object is cruising just 20 light-years from Earth.’

…So, it’s mysterious, but we already know it is 200 million years old. I think the Earth came into being in September.

  2. If anyone remembers the brutal attack towards a waiter in the center of Prague by a group of “Dutch” tourists, the two brothers leading the attack are now being charged for attempted murder. This actively changes their possible prison time from 6-12 years to 10-18 years.

  3. Afghanistan:
Three Czech Soldiers Killed by Suicide Bomber During …. a joint foot patrol.

All joint foot patrols should be ceased forthwith.
    Two insuperable reasons:
“Kill them wherever you find them” is a standing instruction in Islam: Koran 2:191.
Those who “kill and are killed” are GUARANTEED Paradise: Koran 9.111.

  4. ………..an attack on a CHRISTIAN Orthodox Church……………………….

    (There, fixed it.)

  5. It isn’t only the leftists who seek to silence objectors. Breitbart News has closed my participation in the comments section of their articles, in response to my pointing out the wild tirades of a Breitbart columnist. Seriously, Breitbart is outpacing the leftists regarding the silencing of objections… even when those objections apply only to the ranting, rambling *presentation* of ideas and opinions.

    • A good point, and one that deserves further elaboration.[If Andrew Breitbart were still at the helm, this kind of “silencing” would not be happening.]

The Right can be as doctrinaire as the Left, and can even co-opt the Left’s meta-rules, not realizing it has become entangled in snares of Korrect Speak.

The problem with current-day discourse is that it is no longer primarily about ideas as it is a polarization, seen by each side as a battle between good and evil. Thus, on the one side we have those whose summum bonum is “tolerance” (for soi-disant “victims” at any rate) and on the other, the great virtue is “free” speech, which can devolve into a sterile liberty without any accompanying responsibility. And over the whole of the battlefield is cast a fuggy stench of decay.

      IMHO.

  6. re : ‘Something amiss in the History profession’

Many of us whose first love is History have long known this is the case.

After a time of familiarization, we learned that there were (are) such creatures as the ‘court’ historians.

Even the historians not bought and paid for by patrons reach very different conclusions. A reading of Spanish history written by Spanish historians will read very differently than Spanish history written by English professors. I think everyone recognizes this.

GofV features Diana West’s book on the home page. The ‘court’ historians savaged it. “She is not a professional historian,” they squealed.

Perhaps not … but the best History is often done by non-‘Historians.’ And thank God for that.

As Professor Antony Sutton (British, a professional Historian; of the Hoover Institution; now deceased, I believe) discovered, the American Historical Association has been a creature of the Deep State Swamp since its earliest days.

The phasing-out of the teaching of honest History in our schools, and its substitution by a severely dumbed-down subject called ‘Social Studies,’ was a very deliberate and conscious choice of ‘the Establishment,’ for obvious reasons of social engineering.

… to deprive following generations of their cultural / institutional memory, and make them believe everything began in 1917. Then with the revised date of origin of 1968.

[HIGHLY recommended … (by me!) : ‘The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise,‘ by Prof. Dario Fernandez-Morera. Also not a professional Historian – but a true, honest scholar.]

    • I listened to an hour podcast with this man a year or so ago and was fascinated! I strongly recommend his book or try to find him on youtube.
