Is Tariq Ramadan a Victim of French Justice?

French-bashing is one of the few pleasures still allowed in Europe nowadays, and it seems a bit unkind to deprive you of it. Sadly, a recent piece, by Peter Oborne, accuses the entire French justice system of treating Tariq Ramadan, the sometime academic, stealth Islamist, serial liar and alleged rapist, like a latter-day hero from Les Misérables, supposedly “rotting” in a French jail as a victim of the complete “abandonment of due process”. Not quite.

Ramadan, the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan Al-Banna, pretends to be “moderate”. Yet he has recently argued that FGM, for instance, is a cultural tradition of Muslims, or that corporal punishments including stoning of adulterous women in Islam ought to be the object of a “moratorium” to examine their implications (rather than banned). British Prime Minister Tony Blair apparently bought into the fiction that here was the kind of westernised Muslim he needed on an advisory board to his government; and Ramadan got a Qatar-financed chair of sorts at Oxford.

Italy: Genoa Mayor Asks Queen to Pay for St George’s Cross

Emblem ‘leased’ by London 250 in Middle Ages

(ANSA) — Genoa, July 5 — The mayor of Genoa has asked Queen Elizabeth to pay the northwestern Italian port city back for allegedly allowing the British crown to use the Cross of St George free of charge for the last 250 years.

In the Middle Ages London obtained the use of the flag, which had been used in the crusades and by the maritime republic of Genoa as a warning sign to hostile ships, for its fleet in exchange for an annual tribute which over the years turned into a gratuity.

Mayor Marco Bucci has now written in jest to the queen in what he called “the greatest marketing campaign Genoa could stage”.

In his letter, Bucci said “Your Majesty, I regret to inform you that from my books it looks like you didn’t pay for the last 247 years”.

Italy’s Parliament Speaker Backs Dialogue With Russia

Pubblicato il: 06/07/2018 17:17

“Cooperation and dialogue” should underlie Italy’ relations with Russia, parliament speaker Roberto Fico said on Friday in a statement after talks with Russian ambassador Sergei Razov at the parliament building in Rome.

“Ties between Italy and the Russian Federation should be based on cooperation and dialogue. And in this regard relations between their parliaments play a decisive role,” Fico said.

The European Union also needs “open and constructive” dialogue with Russia, a key a player on the international stage, Fico said.

“Russia plays an important role in international affairs and for this reason the European Union must show unity and keep constructive dialogue open, speaking with one voice,” he said.

The summit in Helsinki on 16 July between United States president Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin made it even more “in the interests of all” to improve Europe’s relations with Russia, Fico stated.

Fico belongs to the ruling Five-Star Movement, senior partner in Italy’s populist government, which backs lifting EU sanctions against Russia over its 2014 intervention in Ukraine.

Nantes Riots: France Policeman Formally Investigated Over Shooting

A French police officer has been placed under formal investigation over a fatal shooting in Nantes, which triggered three nights of rioting.

The officer initially said he had opened fire on the 22-year-old man in self-defence during a traffic stop in the Breil neighbourhood on Tuesday.

But his lawyer told AFP news agency that after questioning, the officer said he had fired by accident.

The incident led to violent clashes between groups of youths and police.

The trouble began on Tuesday after the man, named locally as Aboubakar Fofana, was stopped by police in his car. Police initially said he had refused to comply with orders and tried to reverse into an officer. Another officer then opened fire, hitting the man in the neck.

Officials said the man had been under surveillance for suspected drug-trafficking.

That night rioters burned cars and threw petrol bombs at the police who responded with tear gas. The violence continued on Wednesday and Thursday with buildings including a library, a shopping centre and schools set alight.

On Thursday the officer was taken into custody for questioning and on Friday his lawyer, Laurent-Franck Lienard, told AFP he had offered a different version of events.

“He recognises he made a statement that did not conform with the truth,” Mr Lienard told AFP.

Later, Mr Lienard confirmed that his client was under formal investigation over Mr Fofana’s death. The officer, who has not been named, was granted conditional release.

ENI, Libyan National Oil Corporation Start Output From Offshore Gas Field

Pubblicato il: 05/07/2018 16:47

Italian energy giant Eni and Libya’s National Oil Corporation have begun production from the second phase of the Bahr Essalam offshore gas field — the country’s largest — Eni said in a statement on Thursday.

Two further wells will begin production within a week under the Eni-NOC joint-venture and a further seven wells will come on-stream by October, the statement said.

“Bahr Essalam is the product of a longstanding relationship between NOC and Eni, and represents an important milestone to ensure greater energy supply security for Libya,” said Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.

“We are proud that Phase 2 will play an important role in supplying Libya with the necessary gas to fuel the country’s recovery over the next 15 years,” Descalzi added.

The second phase of the Bahr Essalam project will be completed between September and October, increasing production potential by 400 million cubic feet of standard gas per day (MMSCFD) to a total output from the field of 1,100 MMSCFD, Eni said.

The Bahr Essalam field, located about 120 kilometres northwest of Tripoli, contains over 260 billion cubic metres of gas. This is delivered through the Sabratha platform to the Mellitah onshore treatment plant before principally being used to supply the national network.

The Bahr Essalam gas field delivers natural gas to an onshore treatment plant and then into the national supply chain.

Libyan premier Fayez al-Saraj, who attended the opening ceremony, said offshore gas production adds value to the national economy.

“In the past, we missed huge investment opportunities due to the lack of budget. However, today we are committed more than at anytime to encourage investment in the oil sector, and to grant promising opportunities to global giants on a commercial basis that serves the interest of this partnership, and creates growth that gives new hope to Libyan youth,” al-Saraj stated.

NOC’s chairman Mustafa Sanalla said the startup shows international companies remain confident about working in the country.

“Eni have demonstrated the confidence that international oil companies have in NOC, and the success that legitimate partnerships can deliver for all Libyans,” Sanalla said.

“NOC is committed to guaranteeing and increasing gas production in order to supply Libyan power plants,” Sanalla added.

The boost to domestic gas output will reduce costly liquid fuel imports and free up “significant” financial resources” needed to rebuild the conflict-ravaged country, Sanalla underlined.

The start of gas production at Bahr Essalam comes less than a week after the NOC suspended operations at oil loading terminals because of challenges to its authority, prompting the UN secretary general to call for calm and the return of authority to the NOC.

Eni has been present in Libya since 1959, where it currently produces around 320,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Hindus Protest Against Jihad in Kashmir and Its Network Throughout India

Hindutva Poster in Delhi Calls for Jihadi Kashmiri Muslims to be ‘Driven Out to Pakistan’and to abolish Article 370 from Indian Constitution.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | July 7, 2018:: As a reaction of stone pelting on Indian army by Jihadi youths in Kashmir valley and obviously as a retaliation against the subversive activities of the Huriyyat, NC and PDP; a Hindutva group has put up posters in various of locations in Delhi giving a clarion call to drive out ‘Jihadi Kashmiri Muslims’ and sent them to Pakistan.

The message of the patriot people to go against the separatist Kashmiri groups are now being gradually manifested against the backdrop of attacks on Muslim Kashmiri students in different parts of Haryana and even in one incident of assault on a Muslim Kashmiri family in a South Delhi colony,

The poster was seen at August Kranti Marg by a Hindustan Timescorrespondent (as claimed in his twitter handle), Azaan Javaid, who hails from Kashmir, and who tweeted it with the message+: “Auto driver helped me with the translation of this lovely message which was followed by an awkward silence.”

Highlighting the poster’s open call to retaliate against Kashmiri Muslims — “Kashmiri Jihadi Musalmanon ko Pakistan bhagao” — some secular and pro-Pak Kishmiri groups jumped in to social media platforms to instigate the Central Govt to take measure against the people published the poster. They say, “It will be a test case for the BJP government at the Centre which has come under pressure to act against those circulating inflammatory messages on social media”.

The Catholic church is being used as a pawn in a well-orchestrated plan to radically alter the Christian identity of European nations through mass migration, said Bishop Athanasius Schneider in a bombshell interview last week.

Schneider, who serves as auxiliary bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, told the Italian daily Il Giornale that the current migrant crisis “represents a plan orchestrated and prepared for a long time by international powers to radically alter the Christian and national identity of the peoples of Europe.”

EU’s Frontex Warns of New Migrant Route to Spain

Frontex chief Fabrice Leggeri said Friday that some 6,000 migrants had entered the European Union in June by crossing into Spain from Morocco, the so-called western Mediterranean route.

Speaking to German weekly Die Welt am Sonntag, Leggeri warned that the route could overtake others as the most important path into Europe, including the central Mediterranean route to Italy or the eastern Mediterranean route from Turkey into the Balkans.

“If you ask me what my greatest worry is, then I have to say Spain,” he said.

German Parties Urge Seehofer to ‘Clean up Mess’ As Petition Demands Resignation

Briefly after the German ruling coalition partners, Merkel’s CDU and SPD, managed to reach a common ground on migration issues by agreeing to turn down certain asylum-seekers on the basis of bilateral agreements with other EU countries, German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer again restated his plan for unilateral actions. In an interview with Der Spiegel he said that in case no bilateral deals are struck to return migrants to the countries where they originally applied for asylum, Germany would have to return to a plan to turn down migrants at its border.

Seehofer’s actions have drawn wide criticism in German society. A petition calling for his resignation, published on the Change.org platform on July 6 by one of the country’s social workers, had gathered 40,000 signatures in a matter of hours.

Large Migrant Center to Open Soon in Algesiras, Spain

To confront landing emergency in Andalusia

(ANSAmed) — MADRID, JULY 6 — The Spanish government is completing in Algesiras (Cadiz) a large hosting center for migrants to deal with mass landings on Andalusia’s coast.

The structure will open “immediately”, said Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, quoted by Spanish media.

“The arrival of an important number of immigrants over the past two weeks, exceeding 1,000 each weekend, calls for adequate means to assist them”, said Grande-Marlaska, after a meeting in Algesiras with top security force officials to coordinate the response to the migrant crisis. Although the minister did not mention where the center will be based, he said it will host “everybody” including women and minors.

Interior ministry sources confirmed that it will be probably based in Algesiras, in coordination with the prefecture and departments charged with the first assistance of migrants who land after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar.

Police unions had called for a new center after over 6,791 migrants landed on Andalusia’s coast in June.

Swedish Dental Expert Fined $50,000 for Exposing Adult Migrants Masquerading as Children

See something, say nothing? This appears the message in Sweden, where politically-correct authorities may punish those who dare complain about the government’s culture-rending and crime-spiking importation of vast numbers of Muslim migrants. The latest example is a dental hygienist fined approximately $50,000 for revealing that some refugees claiming to be “children” are actually adults. According to Swedish news organ Samhällsnytt (translation courtesy of Jihad Watch):

Bernt Herlitz is being severely punished for trying to reveal the age of fake children. Now he has to pay 425 thousand kronor [$48,500] within 30 days to his former employer Region Gotland — money he does not have. The language of the judgment is harsh and at times activist against Herlitz. Previously, Samhällsnytt revealed that several of the people whom he suggested to the Migration Board were discovered to be adults as a result of medical age tests. Despite this and despite some of them being convicted of gross violent crime, they will stay in Sweden, thanks to the amnesty of the government and the Center Party.

  1. Australian verbal consent is a “nice idea” , but I have no idea how they think they can enforce that. Maybe it will just make people a bit more aware of their choices, maybe it will be off-putting, maybe it will go the way of the Swedish consent app and lawyers.

    ?

  2. French cop charged in manslaughter.

The details weren’t in the story here, but in another story on the same incident, it said that black who was shot had been trying to back up the car to get away from the cop, seeing as how the black had a criminal record and no drivers license.

The cop was holding a pistol, very smart move when dealing with street-wise “migrants”, and accidentally fired the gun when the car began moving.

The only offense I can see was that the cop initially lied about the incident. This should trigger suspension, maybe dismissal from the force, and perhaps a charge of perjury or lying under oath. It certainly does not merit a charge of manslaughter.

The practice of politicized prosecutors of, without evidence, charging police with crimes in response to crowd pressure, even if the prosecutors are counting on an innocent verdict, is damaging to good policing. The legal fees, plus the extended uncertainly about facing prison and felony conviction, will serve to intimidate police further from doing anything but the bare minimum when faced with street crime.

    • “The legal fees, plus the extended uncertainly about facing prison and felony conviction, will serve to intimidate police further from doing anything but the bare minimum when faced with street crime.”

      This.

    • The retraction seems very strange. No cop in the US would “retract” his initial account, no matter how false. Maybe the French are more conscientious? Especially when there are rioting masses to appease?

  3. In other news, a Moroccan migrant who threatened to blow himself up in a church in Milan was arrested by Italian police.

Drat, taking the soft option again. Just stake it down in the middle of a field, move everybody back to a safe distance, sell tickets and use the funds to support those children and others either raped or murdered by the Religion of Peace then let it blow.

  4. I’m making a prediction: people are going to start recording their sexual encounters, just to prove “yes” was actually spoken. And why stop there? Apps to measure heartbeat rate, blood pressure, skin resistance, etc., just to make sure each partner was really, sincerely, honestly giving voluntary consent.

  5. “Arrested Statue of Liberty Climber Identified as Congo Immigrant” – Congo Primates tend to climb to the treetops or at least as high as they can get.

  6. “Ramadan, the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan Al-Banna, pretends to be “moderate”. Yet he has recently argued that FGM, for instance, is a cultural tradition of Muslims…” – imagine the degree of ignorance of the author. OF COURSE FGM is a Muslim tradition, not Lamaistic or Methodist.
