Death Penalty Won’t be Sought in Florida Airport Shooting
An Alaska man will not face the death penalty on charges of killing five people and wounding six in a shooting rampage at a Florida airport, authorities announced Tuesday.
Instead, Esteban Santiago agreed to plead guilty, serve a life sentence and give up all appeals rights under a plea deal between his attorneys and federal prosecutors that was announced in court. His actual guilty plea and sentencing would occur at a later date.
Santiago, 28, of Anchorage, Alaska, is charged in a 22-count indictment in the January 2017 shooting in a baggage claim area at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Trial had been set to begin June 11.
U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom asked Santiago, dressed in a tan jail outfit and in chains, if he understood the agreement he was making.
“Yes, your honor,” he replied.
According to the indictment, Santiago flew on a one-way ticket from Alaska to Fort Lauderdale with a 9 mm handgun in a box he put in checked luggage. After landing he retrieved the weapon, loaded it in a bathroom and came out firing randomly until he exhausted his ammunition.
Since his arrest, Santiago has been treated at a Miami jail for schizophrenia but his lawyers say he is mentally fit for trial. He complained of mental problems before the shooting but was not barred from possessing a gun…

Delingpole: Donald Trump Must Turn Down the Nobel Peace Prize
In the unlikely event that the Nobel prize committee ever agrees, I can think of two very tempting reasons why the Donald should accept. …
Still, though, despite all this I think Trump should turn down the Nobel Peace prize. Quite simply, it is damaged goods. No, worse than that, it is tainted beyond all redemption. …
No question, Donald Trump is worthy of the Nobel peace prize. But the Nobel peace prize is not worthy of the Donald.

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) portrays itself as a U.S. civil rights organization. However, as numerous terrorist analysts and the U.S. government itself has noted, CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2009 Holy Land Foundation (HLF) retrial—the largest terrorism financing case in the nation’s history. NBC, however, has treated the organization as a credible source on the subject of Islamic extremism.

Netherlands: Public Prosecutor Says PVV Islam Video Does Not Incite Hatred or Discrimination
The public prosecution department will not take legal action about a video made by the anti-Islam PVV party ahead of the local elections because the contents are not against the law.
In total, 17 people have made a formal complaint about the video which was broadcast on the public television channels.
The video, which lasts 2.5 minutes, features the words ‘Islam is’ in red, followed by words and phrases such as violence, forced-marriage, terror, deadly, Jew-hater, gay-hater and ‘deadly’. The words drip blood as they appear on the screen.
The public prosecution department said in a statement that it did not consider the video incited hatred, discrimination or violence because it focused on Islam as a religion, not its followers.
Prime minister Mark Rutte was among those to criticise the video when it was first broadcast. ‘I think I represent the bulk of the population if I describe this video as tasteless,’ he said, but declined to comment further.
PVV leader Geert Wilders welcomed the public prosecutor’s decision, saying ‘the truth about Islam’ would be seen again during party political airtime.

Full Text of Netanyahu on Iran Deal: ‘100,000 Files Right Here Prove They Lied’
[…]
Well, tonight, I’m here to tell you one thing: Iran lied. Big time.
After signing the nuclear deal in 2015, Iran intensified its efforts to hide its secret nuclear files. In 2017, Iran moved its nuclear weapons files to a highly secret location in Tehran. This is the Shorabad District in southern Tehran. This is where they kept the atomic archives. Right here. Few Iranians knew where it was, very few, and also a few Israelis.

Exclusive: A Case of Pentagon-Financed Technology Undergirding Beijing’s Military
The Chinese regime’s fifth-generation fighters, state-of-the-art naval cruisers, and soon-to-be launched aircraft carriers are more deadly than they otherwise would be because they are equipped with advanced fiber-optic cable originally built for the Pentagon, according to a U.S. military intelligence officer.
The saga of this cable is part of a bigger story of how American military technology ends up with the Chinese regime’s military, an issue the Trump administration is seeking to address with sanctions and new legislation. …
“One of the biggest culprits in this whole scheme is President [Bill] Clinton, because he freely allowed China access to advanced military technology, like the W88 nuclear warhead. There were no restrictions,” he said. “The [CCP] gained 25 years of development by getting U.S. technology for free.” …
“Huawei and ZTE are cat’s paws for Chinese Communist Party domination, and we should treat them as such in every conceivable way.”
“The reality of China’s pervasive civil-military integration policies means that anything we sell to China will be evaluated for military exploitation. … Anything we sell China … should be evaluated on whether that technology could end up killing our troops.”

As Caravan Members Await Processing, Some Charged With Entering U.S. Illegally
Following the arrival of the caravan of more than 1,200 migrants from Central America at the border city of Tijuana on April 24, most of the refugee seekers waited on the Mexican side of the border after border inspectors said that the crossing facility did not have enough space to accommodate them.
Most of the migrants remained at a checkpoint between the United States and Mexico, waiting for their turn to apply for asylum. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in an April 30 statement, “We reached capacity at the San Ysidro port of entry over the weekend, and were temporarily unable to bring additional persons traveling without appropriate entry documentation into the port of entry for processing. We began processing undocumented arrivals again [today].”
As most waited to enter the United States to begin the asylum process, however, the Department of Justice on April 30 filed complaints against 11 individuals believed to be members of the caravan, accusing them of illegally entering the United States.

Macron: Migrant Violence, Terror is Europe’s Fault, ‘Not Linked’ To Mass Immigration
“I am absolutely not naive. In our societies, we have a need for more security, more national security, especially for women,” Macron said, before stating: “I do not believe that these phenomena are linked to migration.”
“Why? Because it is not new and unfortunately we have had this problem for years not to say decades in my country”, he explained, telling students that “exactly the same debates” were taking place in France over national security during the country’s 2002 presidential election campaign. …
In 2009, France actually piloted a scheme in which CVs were anonymous, meaning they omitted information such as candidates’ names, ages, and addresses in a bid to “reduce the opportunity gap” between migrants and natives. However, the scheme was scrapped when the pilot resulted in fewer callbacks for minorities and candidates living in so-called ‘no-go’ zones.

Return of the Migrant Crisis: Greece ‘Overwhelmed’ As Illegals Surge Across Turkish Land Border
Greece is being “overwhelmed” by illegal migrants surging across its land border with Turkey, with a local mayor warning the situation is “on the verge of spinning out of control”.

This figure was reduced to 30,000 in 2017 after the European Union persuaded the Turkish government to step up containment efforts following a multi-billion euro deal partly financed by the United Kingdom.
