Shock: Facebook is Tracking You Even if You’re Not on Facebook

Facebook’s problems just keep accumulating, drip by drip—or more like splash by splash. It’s now been discovered that Facebook not only collects and uses the personal data of its members but also collects the data of those who never signed up for Facebook.

So if you’re one of those who blames Facebook users for allowing their personal data to be compromised, don’t be so smug. Facebook may be sharing your personal data as well.

Daniel Kahn Gillmor, senior staff technologist at the ACLU, discovered that, although he never joined Facebook or any other social network, Facebook has a detailed profile on him.

Sean Andrew Duncan, 22, of Loudoun County will spend 15 to 20 years in prison under the plea agreement reached in Alexandria federal court, which included details not just of his Islamic State contacts but of explicit images he had of both strangers and an infant relative. Judge Leonie M. Brinkema will decide his sentence on July 6.

EU Far-Right Hails Hungary Anti-Migrant PM Victory

BUDAPEST (AFP) — Far-right parties cheered Monday after Hungary’s nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban election win, while moderates offered business-like congratulations and rights groups warned of his anti-immigrant stance.

Here are some of the key reactions to Orban’s victory in Sunday’s legislative election, which won him a fourth term in office:

EU reaches out

Orban is a fierce critic of the European Union, but the head of its executive commission head Jean-Claude Juncker did not hesitate to reach out to him.

A spokesman said Juncker would write to Orban to congratulate him on his “clear victory” and would hold telephone talks with him.

The holder of the EU’s rotating presidency, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, also appealed for Hungary’s cooperation. “The countries of Europe need dialogue and unity more than ever,” he said…

EU Fears: Five Reasons Why Brussels Should be Terrified After Viktor Orban Election Win

The right-wing, anti-immigration leader has long been a thorn in Brussels’ side, and after securing his first consecutive term, he is expected to once again bemoan immigration, crackdown on NGOs and challenge EU integration.

Mr Orban has repeatedly clashed with the European Commission during his time in charge of Hungary, opposing plans to distribute migrants around the bloc.

Speaking after his resounding victory, Mr Orban said: “I congratulate the voters.

“In times like this it’s better to be modest.”

He added the victory gives him an opportunity to “defend Hungary”.

Given the history between Mr Orban and the EU, there will likely not be many celebrations in Brussels of the Hungarian prime minister’s re-election. Here are five reasons why the bloc’s leaders could be send into a panic.

Europe’s Civilizational Exhaustion

Islam is filling the cultural vacuum of a society with no children and which believes — wrongly — it has no enemies.

In Sweden, by 2050, almost one in three people will be Muslim.

The European mainstream mindset now seems to believe that “evil” comes only from our own sins: racism, sexism, elitism, xenophobia, homophobia, the guilt of the heterosexual white Western male — and never from non-European cultures. Europe now postulates an infinite idealization of the “other”, above all the migrant.

A tiredness seems to be why these countries do not take meaningful measures to defeat jihadism, such as closing Salafist mosques or expelling radical imams.

Muslim extremists understand this advantage: so long as they avoid another enormous massacre like 9/11, they will be able to continue taking away human lives and undermining the West without awakening it from its inertia.

Fund Battling for Telecom Italia Control Gets Fresh Support

MILAN (AFP) — An activist fund battling for control of Telecom Italia against Vivendi on Monday won support from an influential advisor, the second to back its efforts to curb the French group’s power.

ISS, a so-called proxy advisor, said it backed efforts by activist fund Elliott to shake up the board of Telecom Italia (TIM), one day after another advisor, Glass Lewis, did the same.

Proxy advisors play a critical consulting role for investors needing to decide on major proposed changes in a company they own shares in…

China Using American Private Tech to Advance Military

One complicating factor is the CCP’s nationalization of otherwise benign institutions to carry out its operations. In China, the lines between private companies, the CCP, and its military are blurred. Any company with more than 50 employees is required to have a Communist Party liaison, and the regime uses tight regulations and data policies to ensure it maintains access and control.

Also, unlike the CCP’s military hackers, who were illegally breaching company networks and stealing technology, the CCP in many cases uses legal loopholes to take advantage of the open system of the United States.

In the China-US Trade War, How Much Will China Lose?

China has few cards in its hands. In response to the United States’ plan to impose tariffs on Chinese imports, Beijing has announced the retaliatory measure of imposing tariffs on 128 U.S. products worth $3 billion, including fruits, dried fruits, wine, and pork. China also imported the same value of these U.S. products in 2017, which equals one-twentieth of the proposed U.S. tariffs.

In addition, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also declared that “it will take seriously any action taken by the U.S.” It mentioned that “China is the largest export market for U.S. aircrafts and soybeans, and the second largest for automobiles and cotton,” making a veiled threat that Boeing aircrafts and U.S. soybeans will be selected as potential retaliatory targets.

  1. ‘UK: London Mayor Calls for “Knife Control” To Combat Crime, Murder’

I was taught ever since I were a child, that every man has a knife. It’s been like that since the stone age. Life would be unthinkable without it. If you catch a fish, what do you do? If you need to make fire, or anything, it is hard work without one.

      • I dont know, I happen to work in cities and I need multiple knives every day to cut cables and so on…

  2. Why are conservative political parties labeled “far right” while communist parties like Germany’s SDP are never called far left?
