Gates of Vienna News Feed 4/11/2018

There’s not much news in the news feed tonight. The last few days have seen a lot of bad blood between Special Counsel Robert Mueller and President Donald Trump, but none of that made it into the news feed tonight.

However, you can read about the Russian government’s effort to prevent any terrorist attacks on the World Cup. Hundreds of people have been arrested, and fifteen killed by the police. The authorities say they have thwarted twelve attack plots so far.

DHS: Antifa, Not White Supremacists, Posed ‘Greatest Threat to Public Safety’ At Coulter Event

Antifa, rather than white supremacists, posed “the greatest threat to public safety” at a Republican event featuring conservative commentator Ann Coulter, according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documents Muckrock published Monday.

A DHS-run Central California Intelligence Center document detailed potential threats from Antifa protestors at an April 2017 fundraising event Republicans were hosting in a California county that featured Coulter as the keynote speaker.

Furey: YouTube Suspends Canadian Anti-Terror Expert

Canadian intelligence expert Tom Quiggin has quite the resume. He’s worked with the RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces, the UN Protection Force in Yugoslavia, to name but a few. He’s testified before the Senate and at the Air India Inquiry. He was even an arms control inspector in Europe.

Yet, these extensive qualifications apparently aren’t enough for YouTube, which removed Quiggin’s new podcast from its platform before he even posted the first episode.

New Speakers Announced for Rebel Anti-Carbon Tax Rallies in Alberta This Weekend

Kinder Morgan’s decision to suspend work on the much-needed Trans Mountain pipeline was the last straw:

Trudeau and Notley told us that their carbon tax would convince environmental extremists to support pipelines, but so far we’ve lost Energy East and Northern Gateway.

And now this.

We’re fighting back! JOIN US in Edmonton on Saturday April 14 and Calgary on Sunday April 15 as we rally to demand an end to the carbon tax, and show our support for pipelines — and the jobs and energy they bring to Canada!

‘Defending the Real Europe’, Salvini Joins Forces With Le Pen in EU Threat

MATTEO Salvini, Italy’s nationalist firebrand, is poised to join forces with French right-winger Marine Le Pen in a bid to “defend the real Europe” from the threat he claims is posed by the European Union.

Mr Salvini’s Lega Nord party is now the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies after winning 125 seats in last month’s general election in Italy.

And in an indication that he is now ready to start flexing his political muscles, Mr Salvini has announced a joint rally in Nice which will see him share a podium with Ms Le Pen.

Facebook Bans German Historian for Saying ‘Islam is Not Part of German History’

Last month, Facebook censored a German historian who posted a message about Islam’s historic impact on Germany. Facebook banned the historian for 30 days, even though 76 percent of Germans agree that Islam does not “belong to Germany.”

Michael Hesemann, a journalist and Vatican historian with an honorary doctorate for his work in uncovering documents from the Armenian Genocide, posted a message that Facebook said did “not correspond to our community standards.” The offensive message was an accurate — if overstated — historical statement.

Concentration Camp Photo Misrepresented as Arab Victims of Jews

Days before Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day, Palestinian Authority (PA) TV misappropriated a photo showing hundreds of dead bodies at the Nazi concentration camp at Nordhausen, originally a subcamp of Buchenwald, presenting them as Arabs killed by Jews on April 9, 1948 in the Arab village of Deir Yassin, reports Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

The actual picture, which was taken right after liberation of the concentration camp by the American army, was carefully distorted by PA TV so that the images of the corpses in the striped concentration camp uniforms, the American soldiers, and the concentration camp buildings were not seen. The following caption was added by PA TV: “When they killed and mutilated the bodies of 250 women, children and elderly residents.”[…]

The PA TV video, which was broadcast this week on the anniversary of the Deir Yassin battle, also included a photo of victims of the massacre at the 1982 Sabra and Shatila refugee camp by Christian Lebanese, which was likewise misrepresented as showing Arabs who were killed by Jews.

The third lie in the PA TV video was printed on the screen under the photo: “And they [the Jews] burned the women and children in the village’s oven.”

Although Arab civilians were killed at Deir Yassin during the battle, it is false to claim Jewish fighters “burned the women and children in ovens”. Jewish fighters from the Irgun and Lehi military groups, part of the forces opening the blockaded road to Jerusalem, attacked the Arab village of Deir Yassin on April 9, 1948. When the battle was over, the village had fallen and in addition to the Arab fighters killed, 107 civilians were also killed. Narratives differ as to whether the civilians were killed in the crossfires or were intentionally murdered by the Irgun and Lehi fighters[…]

[The PA treats their own people as gullible fools, if the world wants peace then they must stop the Pally incitement instead of paying them to be substitute anti-Semites]

Farage: Bombing ‘Bad Guy’ Assad Will Cause ‘Chaos’ And Help Terrorists

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage has urged the UK to not intervene in the Syrian conflict, claiming it will only spread “chaos” in the region and benefit Islamic State terrorists.

Whilst making it clear he regards President Bashar al-Assad as a “bad guy”, Mr. Farage compared Syria to Libya and Iraq to argue that the removal of Arab tyrants usually leaves a power vacuum that even worse forces fill.

[Comment: What Farage says seems wise.]

Ann Coulter: The Bounceback Child Rapist and Other Dreamers in the News!

With all the tender concern President Trump and Nancy Pelosi have been heaping on “Dreamers” of late, you’d think the media would notice and pepper us with stories about these “incredible kids,” as Trump calls them. Alas, no. Our tedious media drones refuse to provide us with moving human interest stories about the Dreamers.

Journalists and politicians love to give us archetypes: the DACA soldier, the DACA valedictorian, the DACA grandmother. But there are so many other roles they fill!

To make up for the Fourth Estate’s failure, this week, I’ll highlight five Dreamers who have done noteworthy things just in the last month.

Attention Donald Trump! Another Immigration “Loophole”—importing Radical Imams!

President Trump is denouncing “loopholes” in U.S. law, such as theasylum provision. Here’s another: the “R” class visa for so-called religious workers.

Incredibly, the number of mosques in the U.S. has soared by some 150 percent since Sept. 11, 2001, to an estimated 3,200 in all 50 states.(The US Mosque Study [PDF] counted 2,106 in 2011, up from 1,209 in 2000, a 74% increase—a rate the Iran Times said was one opening every 4-1/2 days.) Almost without fail, the imams in mainline Sunni mosques are not Americans. They come from the Middle East and, to one degree or another, would like to see America transformed into the Middle East.

  1. ….and the fishing expedition/slow-motion coup roll on:

    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-11/fbi-sough-records-related-access-hollywood-tape-during-cohen-raid

The OIG report can’t be released soon enough.

Trump flubbed his original Tweets on the raid. He should have called the raid unlawful and unconstitutional rather than unfair. Pretty sure the destruction of attorney-client privilege is a violation of the 4th and 5th Amendments.

This episode shows why the concept of general writs/warrants is horrific versus narrowly defined, specific warrants. Pretty sure that was one of the key motivators for the spirit of ’76.
